Saga '02-'04 / Re: Yavin Wave
« on: February 5, 2004, 09:41 AM »
Yeah, it has been a great year for collecting so far.  All the figures have been done very well, Hasbro is doing many of the ones various fans have been asking for, and they are being found at an unusually fast pace (at least by some).  Just when I thought I was caught up for the most part, the Jabba's Palace wave, Ultra Wave 2, and now the Yavin wave all get spotted within a week or so.

Yeah, I agree Scott, I really can't fault any of those choices...all are great players.  There are always going to be some that could have been on, but not enough spots.  I was especially happy to see both Redd and Cassell make their respective teams.  Very deserving players.  Some are surprised at the inclusion of Ray Allen, since he has been hurt much of the year.....but he is definitely one of the best players in the league, and has played well when he has played.

All-Star Reserves announced today, the list isn't too bad, but the usual list of snubs as well.  I was really hoping that LeBron James would get voted on as a reserve, I thought he deserved it (20/6/6), but there's a lot of other great players out there too.  Anyways, here's the link:

All Star Reserves

Basically it runs down like this:

East Reserves:
Paul Pierce
Michael Redd
Jason Kidd
Baron Davis
Jamaal Magloire
Ron Artest
Kenyon Martin

West Reserves:

Shaquille O'Neal
Sam Cassell
Dirk Nowitzki
Peja Stojakovic
Brad Miller
Andrei Kirilenko
Ray Allen

Vintage Kenner / Memories....
« on: February 3, 2004, 12:40 PM »
I took a moment during some down time at work this morning to just browse through some pics/info over at ToysRGus of the vintage line (specifically vehicles/playsets).  Although I collect both modern and vintage (when I can), the nostalgia/magic of the vintage line is really unbeatable.  Just looking at some of these pics bring back some great memories of things I had, or things I really wanted to have.  Some of the descriptions provided even give the prices in Sears catalogs...I wish things were still priced this way.  Examples, Ewok Village - $19.99, Millennium Falcon - $24.77.  Even if most of the sculpting/articulation in the modern line could be considered superior, the vintage line still has a pretty "cool" feel.  Anyways, I guess I don't have much to add other than this link (although I'm sure all of you have been there done that)....and I was just feeling nostalgic and had to share with someone  :P.

Plus, just looking at this really makes me want to pursue some more vintage stuff soon :).

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Target = Marked Down Prices
« on: February 3, 2004, 10:04 AM »
Yeah, the Targets around here have upped the price to $4.99 as well, which kind of stinks.  I'm not complaining too much, because its still better than the $8 Episode I days, but the lower the better ;).  I'm another one who would just as soon do all of my Star Wars shopping at Target.  I think I have gotten all of my finds there in the past two months, with the exception of one figure...and some help from my online buddies :).

Other Toy Lines / Re: Ghostbusters Figures!
« on: February 2, 2004, 04:40 PM »
This was posted over at action-figure.com, apparently the rumor is that NECA has acquired "all likeness rights" to the Ghostbusters franchise.  I hope this is true, I'd like to see how the 'busters themselves would turn out.  Also, there is some pictures of the Terror Dogs, Gozer, Stay Puft, and Slimer here:

Modern Classifieds / WTB: Ultra Wampa and SA Clone
« on: February 2, 2004, 10:43 AM »
Found the Hoth and Tatooine waves this past weekend, so not looking for those anymore.  Still in need of an Ultra Wampa if anyone has an extra, as well as the Super Articulated Clonetrooper (which never showed around here).  Thanks again for reading :).

The Bullpen / Marvel Legends
« on: February 2, 2004, 10:20 AM »
Thanks for posting that link Mikey D.  I'm looking forward to seeing closer pics as well.  That Juggernaut does look pretty good (at least from what we can see), and definitely looks large.  That's good, I was hoping he wouldn't be underscale.  I really hope that the Phoenix isn't a chase figure as rumored though.  I keep telling myself I'm going to limit my collecting to Star Wars only, but Marvel Legends is the one line that keeps me buying a few here and there (X-Men figs at least).  Thanks again for the links, we should see more in a couple weeks hopefully!

JD Sports Forum! / Re: Super Bowl XXXVIII New England vs Carolina
« on: February 2, 2004, 10:14 AM »
That turned out to be a fantastic Super Bowl I thought.  This was a year where I didn't really care who won, I don't have anything against either team, but for some reason found myself going for the Patriots throughout.  I wouldn't have been upset if Carolina would have won either though.  It was funny, during the third quarter I told my wife "I bet you anything that the Pats will win this on a Viniteri field goal, since he missed his first two...it will be a feel good story" :P.  Great game though, quite entertaining I thought...especially the second half.
