Title: New 12" Luke, Yoda, Ewoks and Biker Scout
Post by: Scott on April 16, 2003, 10:50 AM
Hasbro (http://starwars.hasbro.com/pl/page.repnews/sec.story/id.117/dn/bh.cfm) unleashed 5 new 12"ers on us this morning.

I love them all except that Luke, lightsaber slashing action ugh

I like them. Except Luke.  ::)
Those Ewoks are awesome. I know someone that will go nuts over them.  ;)
I never got the Biker Scout w/Speeder Bike so I am hyped up about him.
Yoda looks cool, though it does look like there making the large figures like the 3 3/4 scale with the accessories. First time I have seen a 12" figure with the Force lightning effect.

I think they all look great, but there's something that just doesn't look right.  Look closely at Yoda's cane.  It doesn't look anything like the cane he uses in any of the movies.

....I'm definately gonna pick up them Ewoks.... woah! Logray doesn't really look like Logray, and that can't be Teebo, as suggested on our main page, because Teebo has white stripes, wears a pig-head, and has a bundle of feathers to top. Either way, Ewoks are Ewoks....

These will be the first 12's in my collection.

Chris must have added the Teebo thing cause I don't think that is him either

Scott, you may have to speak with our baggy sweatered friend about that edit. ;)

Oh dear, you gonna start up on "my sweater" now too boss?!   ;D

Yeah, my bad!   :-\   Still may turn out to be a Teebo and it's only in it's early stages right now, or maybe not.  Let's just call him John for now, how'd that be?   :)

Chris, that's because all of the Yoda pictures you have there are from the Original Trilogy (except that "missing" one  ;D  :P).  This new 12" Yoda is based on the character's appearance in AOTC, and if you watch carefully, you'll see that the cane that he uses in this movie is accurate to the one that Hasbro has created for this 12" figure here.  Evidently Yoda got himself a new cane sometime between Ep. 2 and Ep. 5...  Not surprising, as I'd imagine those things would wear down fairly quickly.   ;)

Just got all five today.  SWEET!!!

Yoda comes with the belt, necklace, cane, viewing mirror, lightning bolts, green saber and the chair.
His white, cotton hair is hard to see from the front and with the two I got (bought a case from EE) one has a little more than the other.

The Biker Scout just has his pistol and has almost the same articulation as the speeder bike one.
Hands are in a different position (as in the fingers are spread out on the new one).  Higher boots also as well as a shorter neck.  I have comparison shots in the link below.

Luke's new face sculpt isn't the greatest (still has the "mole" on the cheek).  Accessories with this one are the green saber and handcuffs (which are useless as they don't go around both hands).  The button on the back is another annoying feature (how many kid's purchase these dolls and play with them?? ) and not needed IMO.

The ewoks are the best.  Of course, I like Ewoks so..there you go!
Anyways, they have no specific names on the box and both have the skull hats and bags attached.  There is also a necklace, knife, drumstick and a feathery walking stick.  Normal hip and shoulder articulation but nice face sculpts.

I will be putting up pictures on my web page next (ICQ doesn't let me link photo's directly here) so just scroll down to the bottom of the link below.

Thanks for the pictures Beth!  I really want to get my hands on that Biker Scout, but they all look great (even the Ewoks!).  I love the new packaging too.

Hey Beth, do you happen to have saved the link to EE's website for that case?  I've been searching all over their site, and I can't find that case anywhere.  Thanks!

I have all the 12" thus far and I will be getting these.
Have they started to hit stores yet or only on-line?

As far as I know they're only available online right now.  I haven't seen these in any store in the Chicagoland area yet.

I haven't even seen the AT-ST Driver wave in retail yet, let alone this wave.

These figures are awsome. I just picked up a set today at Meijers here in Indy.

I really like Yoda. Which I need to get a second one since my mom is a Yoda fan. I think she will like one.

What's your take David on the Biker Scout?  Is the helmet removable by chance?

I found all of these figures today at Meijers in Toledo, OH as well. I have to say that the Luke and Biker Scout look very, very nice.

No the Biker Scout Helmet is not removable. You could customize it though to become removable. :)

I am at GenCon right, well not right now. I am at home checking out some packages that came in the mail and to get  some stuff.

Anyways, here is my quick review of teh 12"

Luke - It is Jedi Luke. The third one now? There is a little peg on his back where you can turn it and his body moves back and forth. He also comes with the Handcuffs.
I give him a C - It is Jedi Luke. Nothing reallly new.

Ewoks 2-pack - I like the ewoks so these guys are a welcome item. Outstanding detail.
I give these guys an A.

Biker Scout - I am just glad they now have a single Biker Scout. I wish they packaged him in a series when the 12" Biker Scout with Bike came out.
I do not have my 12" Biker Scout with Bike handy to compair the two but I like him.
I give him an B.

Yoda- The best figure of the series. Amazing detail. Come with his Chair, Cane, Newcklace, Jedi Belt, Lightsaber, and Force Lightning. The detail of the figure is great!!! They give him molder capri shorts and his legs are sculpted. So it gives you a glimps of what the rest of Yoda looks like ;)
The Robe is nice. This pose is great. Sit him down, stand him up, or give him his saber to bask some sith @$$.
I give this Yoda an A+ Simply the best Yoda figure ever.

The only ones out of that wave that I really want are the Biker Scout and Yoda.  I heard similar responses about Jedi Luke, and I could really care less about the Ewoks.   :-*

damn, they are ugly...

i just can't describe them...

They are pretty ugly, but mainly because they're Ewoks.

"We don't need their scum!"   :-*

That picture does not do them justice. I have them and they are much more detailed and better looking than what is shown. It just may be the picture but yes they look ugly. Not in real life though.
