Beautiful work, my favorite is Comm. Cody and Gree. I'm excited to see what your retooled Neyo and Fox will look like, as they look great already.

The decals look just like paint... I wish I could make some decals for easy-done (and fast) division specific customs.

These look familiar, but I don't recognize your name...

Anyway, the photography is amazing!  It really brings out the details on your customs (which are also amazing!).

I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next...

Definitely not your average Clone repaints... I'm so glad that you chose to join up here.  Your work is beyond words.

Gree is by by far my favorite, and looks nothing short of an actual movie prop.

Love your work, and looking forward to seeing more of your stuff here.  Awesome!!

Those are some nice reference shots!  Thanks for posting them  ;D
I had never seen those last 2 pics (clone intel and V-Wing/ARC Gunner), pretty cool.  I might have to modify my V-Wing pilot a bit now...

Post by: sith_fire30 on July 15, 2005, 11:07 AM
V-wing pilot is finished - May ad an imperial insignia on the other shoulder and possibly a removable holster - don't know yet. Anyway, did not realize how difficult the mask would be to sculpt but I'm please with it. May do a variant later of the v-wing in white during the republic, pre-empire. I left the progress images below. I hope you enjoy!

Cool stuff... can't wait to see how you go about them.  The Faie is such a cool design...

Here's another design that is interesting -

Clone Warrior Concept Art: Faced with the end of the first Star Wars Trilogy, and in need of a new concept around which to base their Star Wars action toys, Kenner's designers invented a future for the Star Wars universe that went beyond both the Return of the Jedi film and their Power of the Force product line. The concept revolved around a new villain, Atha Prime, who had harnessed the power of cloning technology and built an army of evil Clone Warriors. These bad guys did battle, of course, with a much-matured group of fomer Rebels, Luke having grown into a full-fledged Jedi Knight, and Han donning the flashy outfit of a heroic leader. Finally, both sides were outfitted with vehicles, the assortment of which would have surely grown as the story line was expanded and the concept developed.

From a look at this conceptual work, the extent to which the creative people at Kenner understood Star Wars--indeed, the extent to which they were a part of Star Wars--is abundantly evident. The designs tie into the look as well as the mythology of George Lucas' universe, and achieve a wonderful balance between the requirements of a toy and the need to somehow live up to the innovative design standards set by the films. This work is also significant in that it represents the first post-ROTJ Star Wars scenario, developed some five years prior to the bulk of what has been printed in various comics, novels, and roll-play scenarios. Before Grand Admiral Thrawn or Prince Xizor were ever dreamt of, the first original rouge villain and technological terror were created here, by a toy company. Kenner, by this time, understood the Star Wars license to such a degree that, years later, Lucasfilm's licensees are still mining the same territory.

Kenner's extrapolation on Star Wars' many references to the Clone Wars, the Clone Warriors would have replaced the Stormtrooper as the resident evil infantrymen of the Star Wars universe. Looking at the military-***-science fiction design of these characters, I think its possible to see the influence of such toy lines as the 33/4" G.I. Joe and the larger Masters of the Universe, which had, by the mid-1980s, become the standard for boy's action toys.

Much of the information regarding this unproduced material was first brought to light by collecting guru, Steve Sansweet, who covered these concepts and prototypes in issue #2 of Star Wars Galaxy Magazine.

Title: Re: V-Wing Pilot reporting....FINISHED IMAGES!!!
Post by: sith_fire30 on July 18, 2005, 07:56 AM
Thanks! I hope you guys enjoy the finished images I just posted!

When it comes to the detail...I had to use a magnifier for this one so don't think I merely eyeballed it - Be in bed with a migrain if that was the case! :)

I know that the eyes were not 100% accurate and I kinda did that on purpose - again using the theme of this guy being an imperial v-wing pilot and not a republic v-wing pilot. The white version I will work on eventually will have the corrected eyes so it will seem to stand out more as a variant.

The straps are again made from styrene then superglued to the top inside of the leg and rapped around and attached to the hanging strap on the small of his back. I was thinking of just sculpting the strapping but I wanted that 3-D look to it.

I used Testors acrylics :5 shades of gray, black, gloss black, white and a mix of yellow and red for the dark orange insignia.

I feel he needs some way to defend himself when not in flight so I'm designing a removable holster for a side arm...but I probably won't get to that till later.

Commander Cody from Clone Wars animated series is next - I saw Glass's Animated sculpt of Cody on the rebscum board and went nuts! Great job!! I wish to do a non-animated version - Gonna be fun!:) Of course I will post progress pics as well. Thanks again guys for your feedback and comments!!!

That's simply amazing sith_fire... truly a kick ass custom, and leaps and bounds ahead of the current Clone Pilot.

If these were shown in the movie and were hanging on pegs at retail, this would not be a pegwarmer... no freaking way!

You've really taken the customizing section by storm... I think this is better than the Gree, and that was flawless.

All of your customs are incredible but I'd have to say that this takes the cake.  This figure looks so perfect!  I agree with CHEWIE, there is no way that this clone pilot would warm pegs.

Holy crap! That thing is amazing!

I daresay that if Hasbro had put this figure into production, it wouldn't be a pegwarmer. This looks amazing! The sculpting is the first thing that draws the eye, but the paint job is incredible as well!

I wish you'd let me make a cast of the helmet before you finished the figure, though...  :P

I really wish Hasbro would put out figures like this for us, but hey.. if they did, what would we have to customize?
Title: Cmdr Cody Clone Wars **UPDATED FINISHED 7/30**
Post by: sith_fire30 on July 25, 2005, 08:08 AM
Here is my "real world" Cmdr Cody from Clone Wars - Had to go back and rethink the jetpack, adding some extra "cool" features. First the figure - Thanks to Bantha5 for the head sculpt...

The Hand Blaster from the holster is removable...

The removable jetpack....I tool a little creative license - the Clone Wars animated version was just to plain for the real world.

Cody with Jetpack...

what's a jetpack with no "jet"....

You guessed it - Got the jet pack from the Boba Fett Pit of Carkoon figure - Really think that it gives this figure pop - Hope you enjoy:) Thanks for all the comments and advice!!!

That's so awesome Sith Fire.  Well beyond my capabilities.  I just can't sculpt for anything, and know that I would get frustrated with the armor.

Hopefully Hasbro will make this figure soon, because I know I can't make one.

Whatever that materiak is, it would be great for display pieces.

Wow, I can't believe that's done with sculpty and not wax! That's incredibly superb for something done with sculptey. I can't fathom it,but maybe that's cause I'm a horrible sculptor.

Good Lord, this turned out so well!  I don't think you made this as a removable helmet version; that is the only thing I think could make this figure better.  And that holster doesn't look like sculpy at all!

You've really blown me away with all of these Clones lately... I can't wait to see some of your non-Clone work too!

Sweet ****! :o That is amazing! The scupting is excellent. I really like how the back pack attaches, it was very creative to use the SA clone's antennae mount. The paint app is great too, I like the weathering a lot and it doesn't seem to be overdone. I really like the detail, how all the little lights and switches are painted on the belt and backpack, even the backside of the backpack.

I also have to comment on your great photography skills. The crystal clear photos really help show off that work of art.

Keep it up! :)

Agreed! This turned out really well. I think I like this one the best of the thousands created recently. I like the fact that you sculpted the accessories by yourself and used the fett jetpack. It's so cool to see him have the launch fire behind him.

Holy crap!  That Cody is amazing!  The sculpted armor is the clincher for me; It really looks dead on.  I like the various antennae and stuff.  Of course, very clever use of the SA antenna mount for the backpack, I might have to try that for some of my guys.

That first pic of Cody with his jetpack ignited is incredible.  What kind of camera do you use?  Are you a professional photographer?  Seriously man, your pics are stellar  :o

Thanks for the comments dude - My camera is a Sony DSC-F707, my older digital camera, but still takes great studio shots. I have a Canon Digital SLR but my Sony works best in this situation. Actually I was thinking on retaking these images - A bit to saturated.  I took some photo classes in college but am not a professional. :)

Kevin

Hey Kevin - Honestly, I'm not sure - Some of my projecs:  a two man Clone Intel team, Cmdr Appo, another Neyo, Shocktrooper from the Clone Wars cartoon, Commander Faie, ROTS video game clones/characters, a few removable helmet revisions like my Commander Gree possibly...I would like to do some human/creature customs as well. I'm kinda moving toward Faie....I will let you know:)

Thanks again for all the comments! It really makes it worth it when you know others enjoy your work:)

Thans guys! I appeciate your comments -

The paint I am using for all my customs if the Testors Floquil acrylics - they usually come in sets. I use only acrylics - no enamels of any kind.

The sculpty I used was super sculpty...and it was not easy. Seems that when you work with one piece of sculpty for awhile, it tends to get a little sticky and diffucult to manage  - suffice to say that the face mask was trial and error before I finally got it right.

Thanks again!
Title: Commander Faie reporting...and WIP of Heavy Ordinance Clone
Post by: sith_fire30 on August 13, 2005, 11:27 AM
- I had a lot to play around with when it comes to what the sides and back of Faie might have looked like - which was a blast!

- The small supply pack is removable - I am hoping to apply an antenna to it later.

- I think of Faie as being a hardened soldier - possibly like Cody - a first generation clone so the face had to reflect that...used to be an AT-TE driver head.

- I used a stormtrooper helmet as the skeleton of the mask and sculpted around it

- I used a # 41 body and the head is a mod of the AT-TE gunner.

- The softgoods come from an old beige t-shirt I  have:) I am going to use cloth paint to whiten it out and place the logo on the back.

- I am also posting a couple of WIP pics of my Heavy Ordinace clone from the ROTS game...I'll post a source image soon.

Wow, I this is simply breathtaking.  You've really made Faie look like a tough soldier.  His helmet looks like the meanest Clone I've probably ever seen.  Simply awesome.

I do think that non-soft goods might look better, but this is still awesome the way you have it.

Well done and thanks for sharing.  The other Clone is looking promising too.

Good God, this is one of the best customs I think I've ever seen! :o It's all great, the detail, the weathering, the painting, all of it! Simply awesome work!

This guy reminds me of what might have been the Dark Trooper of the clones. Just a bigger, badder Clone. An all around beautiful custom  :) and that heavy guy is looking cool. I'm trying to think about what weapon he might just get.

Excellent custom Sith-fire. Its certainly better than a simple #41 repaint that I keep seeing everywhere.the chest armor is excellent. Is that sculpey added to it or is it a colpetely different torso? I saw the preliminary sculpt on the helmet over on RS. I gotta say I was very impressed then, but seeing the finished product was breathtaking, I cant wait to see the HW clone when hes finished.

Amazing owrk, I don't think I will ever get sick of your clones as long as they are consitently this breath-taking. I really like the helmet. I think you did a great job incorporating the Tank gunner thing into the stormie helmet. The sculpting is fantastic. It alomost looks like you did some minor changes to the face other than the scar, but I'm not sure. Whatever you did it looks great. He looks very battle hardened. I love the softgoods. They are perfectly done, they aren't poofy and the hood loks like it fits right. Personally I think they look better than plastic, when they are done this well. The removable belt is a neat touch. As is the backpack, I love how you have been doing that with the #41 antennae. The sculpting on the shoulders and chest look great, they are nice and smooth with no fingerprints. The paintjob is excellent. He is weatherd just the right amount and in the right places.

The one thing I don't like is the sculpted holster on the ankle. I would have liked to have see a working holster. Other than that this is a perfect custom igve it a 10/10. :)

The heavy ordanance clone looks pretty good so far, I'm not sure if this is fan-fic or comes from some concept source but I think I would have left the rest of the pauldron on, and just cut off the pouches. It looks a little weird just kinda floatingg thee. I like the visor, it is a neat idea to have it cut in halves so he can look out of one eye or both. I'm excited to see this one done, if it is anything like the rest of your clones. :)

Thanks! I've been sculpting since before college so about 10 years. Before that I painted military figurines and models - stuff like that. :)

Thanks!!! Just the ones that have been floating around of Faie - The sides and the back are all conceptualized.

Thanks - I used the VOTC Stormtrooper head and the #41 body as the "skeleton" for the sculpt - All super sculpty done in sections then boiled so as to not damage the figure. The head, back, shoulders and chest are all sculpty.

Thanks for your observations :)
1. I did do some changes to the AT-Te gunner head- resculpted the mouth and repainted the entire head. The scar was a last minite idea but I like it.

2. I tried a working holster but it was too bulky and looked exaggerated - I'm satisfied with this being a supply pouch of somesort.

3. The "HO" clone is from the ROTS video game  - I am producing an exact replica which shows the pauldron "floating" on the shoulder - perhaps connected to the shoulder armor - I'll post a ref pic soon.

Thanks again!

When you sculpt the sculpty into the figure and then boil it, does the sculpty stay on or is there a need for glue or adhesive of any kind to make it stay on the base figure?

You know - you would think you need glue - but for the exception of a few technical pieces, I've never needed to reinforce with glue in any way - the sculpty tends to mend - I don't know exactly why but if you ever mess with sculpty on a figure too long you know how sticky and tacky it can become. As a matter of fact, My Faie has almost zero glue application to the sculpty except for the #41 antenna connection to the radio pack.  You practice long enough with that sculpty and it can become a pretty fun medium:)

Yeah, it's probably the heating proces of in between being "Raw" and "Cooked" that it gets sticky and starts to mend with the plastic. Awesome to know, Sith_Fire! Thanks!

Excellent work!  I'm really surprised by the amount of detail people can go into when sculpting their own figures.  It's truly excellent.  The paint job is also top notch, and I think that the t-shirt's texture really works well as soft goods.  That new sculpt looks great, too.  Just one more thing:  Pardon my ignorance, but where did you get the design for Faie.  Was he in the movie?

Thanks professor! As for your question I got the front concept view from the Art of ROTS book and conceptualized the rest. Such a cool idea, it's a shame we did not see him in the movie.

Holy, SMOKES! Those commandos look incredible! Customizers like you make me want to take up sculpting! I guess we all have to wait to see if they're 12 or 3 3/4 inch commandos. I'm hoping 3 3/4th cause that would be very incredible!

Post by: sith_fire30 on December 23, 2005, 02:01 AM
Hey Guys! Sorry for not posting in awhile but I have been busy trying to complete this ...A piece that has taken me since September to complete. A fellow boardmember from rebelscum, Aeseven7, offered me this challenge - and I couldn't resist. I was so dissapointed when Gentle Giant failed to release a colorized version I took it upon myself to see if I could pull it off - I feel very happy about the outcome...on to the pics...

More images soon! Hope you enjoy!!!

But just so you know, I'm not usually one to want others customs...There are only a few.
This statue is added to the list.

Great paint job!!!

Like Phruby said, I guess this is the one you've been hinting at over at RS for a while.  It looks outstanding.  I thought you were making figures though, not a repainted statue.  Still, it's awesome.  Your painting is nothing less that professional quality.
