They all look pretty good.

Jedi - That's a pretty good match with the Ric Olie head and the Windu body.  The black gloves are a unique touch.

Weequay - I guess he's a Sith?  Is that a POTJ Obi Wan EPI body?  Great paint scheme!

Green Troops - Not sure if those are supposed to be Qui Gon and Windu in camo gear, or some sort of other troops, but the paint camo came out great!

Welcome over here Smartypants!  8)

It's really neat how well that Ric Olie head works as a Jedi.  His face is almost generic enough that it could work as any background character.  Although the head is based on Ric Olie, I think this Jedi stands out on its own as a character.

Yah the jedi is supposed to be a neutral standing master Vrook  form kotor 2.

Those are really cool! I really like the Jedi Master, with the Sith Apprentice coming in second. Also, what kinds of troops are those supposed to be?

This is an excellent start! Two months and you're already dishing out these babies! I can't wait to see what you have in store for the future!

Off topic: I'm thinking that the Ric Olie head would be a good Montross head. Does any one else think so?

I like the armor on the Wookie, is that sculpey?  I think that I would paint it more gold or flashier since the wookie armor seems to be more ornamental than for protection, but still, great work.
Are you going to give him a helmet?

You mean in the background, the jedidefender screen on your computer, right?

These customs look good.  Nice to see some original paint schemes.  Does the Red Clone have blasters attached to his chest?  Interesting and original idea there.

I do like the Blue Clone a little better though, I think it has a more subdued and realistic look.  What did you do to the antenna on his helmet?  It's pretty big, but looks like it could serve a good purpose for him.

Very well done.

 :P
Title: Re: sp1635s customs updated nov 13
Post by: Smartypants1635 on November 13, 2005, 08:04 PM
yeah the guns on the red r his main blaster so in battle its basically his holsters ther

the sniper has a large anteane because he can transmit/ receive signals for decoding codes aswell and use it as a targeting device that is radio linked to his sniper rifle

i like the commander/ teh red one better personaly i think he has that hard core look
Title: Re: sp1635s customs updated nov 13
Post by: blaster_e11 on November 14, 2005, 09:37 AM
nice customs,

it's weird the kama/skirt looks whiter than the armor, maybe a tan fabric a little bit weathered would be better
Title: Re: sp1635s customs updated nov 13
Post by: CHEWIE on November 14, 2005, 10:01 AM
True about the kama/skirt thing.  I think it could be dropped in water, then painted a gray-ish tan color to absorb the paint.  After that, do a dry brushing on it.

Post by: CHEWIE on November 16, 2005, 11:03 PM
Smarty, sorry nobody replied - I would have, but somehow I missed it!

You know what, I think this is your best custom yet.  And to be honest, this is one of the best fan-fic Clones I've seen anyone done.  Why didn't anyone think of this design before using the pilot helmet for a Jet Trooper?  It's so cool!  And so much better of a design than I think Lucasfilm came up with for Jet Troopers.

A+ idea and exectution... now don't get mad if I borrow this fine idea of yours!  Does he have a jetpack?

Also, I know you are kinda young compared to most of us - I want to give you props not only for conducting yourself in the mature the way you do around here as some of us are old farts, but also for how great you already are at customizing.  Much better than I could have ever dreamed of being at your age, and you've created some customs already that I don't think I could do as good as you have (like this current one).

Hi Smarty

Very unquie and well excuted custom my friend I don't know about alot of people but I never get tired of looking at clone customs as there are so many possibilties to do.

Also sculpting the easiest stuff can be hard but you've mastered even the hardest scuplts without no problems what so ever you as far as I'm concerned well done indeed.

I think part of the lack of response has to do with the fact that Smarty's doing clones, and I think a lot of people are burnt out on them.

I'm not though...very nice work, Smarty. I especially like the twin holsters on the chest of the Red Arc.

Now I remember those ARC troopers. I knew Id find them eventually. I like the double chest holsters on the red one. I may be stealing ....ahem.. borrowing the inspiration on that one. I remember telling you in another post that I hadn't seen them. I didn't realise that THOSE were yours. excellent work on all of them.

For some reason, and I dont know why I love that grevious repaint. No offense to your skills, I just dont like the character. But the black and red really make that figure into something worth while.

The snake man is awesome BTW, here did you get the tail peice, Due to the angle of the pic I couldnt tell he had one at first. It kinda reminds me of Golobulous from G.I.Joe the movie, with a little bit of Medusa from Clash of the Titans thrown in.

Unfortunately due to time constraints, ( I have to use library computers, and the one at work) I usually don't have the time to post on every thread I see. As much as I'd love to, its just impossible sometimes. So dont feel bad if someone doesnt post right away.

Keep up the good work. Im constantly impressed by a lot of the stuff Im seeing.

Title: Re: sp1635s customs updated JAN 14
Post by: darth_ripley on January 15, 2006, 01:12 AM
i was also going to say that the Snake Jedi made me think of Clash of the Titans Medusa too Ennis...all he needs is a quiver on his back full of arrows and a crossbow  :)

i like the idea of the female clone, i think she just needs to have "breast armor" to be a little more believable...unless she is really flat chested  :P

i don't really care too much for the vader-bot myself, but that's just me... maybe with different legs or arms, more droid-like/android i would like it a little better...but if it makes you happy then keep it the way it is.

good work overall on the paint, just a few lines that could be cleaned up but other than that, looking good  :)

THanks Ennis  and Ripley for your comments.

Ennis: The original grievouse bugged me to, but I started looking at him and thought
" that would be cool if he were black and red, very stealthy" To answer your question, the snake tail I got from a old squeaky Cobra rubber animal. I repainted teh tail the body and voila. ps feel free to use any of my designs Ennis

Ripley: i was originaly either gonna geta hold of 2 mquarrie troops (here   http://www.rebelscum.com/sw0334McStormtrooper.asp ) for the 2 female troops in my regiment but alas i missed my chance for 2 of them for 12 dollars :'( and also i now notice the bot needs his paint job fixed thanks.

I don't like Greenday either, but was it really necessary to give out his personal information on a public message board?
Title: Re: sp1635s customs updated JAN 15 wip merc/bounty hunter
Post by: Darth Delicious on January 15, 2006, 09:32 PM
Hey Smarty,

I really like the design on the girl in the clone armor; it very much fits in with the sort of designs we've seen on some of the conceptual clones for Ep. III.

The standout here for me, though, is the Dash Rendar backpack on the Dug...great idea, and one I'm going to borrow. It really does seem like a weapon designed for that species.

As for Greenday, normally I wouldn't agree with putting anyone's info on a public message board...but as he's a very special little creep, I say he's got it coming. You may want to edit it though, Smarty...I'm not sure if you could be held responsible for some sort of privacy violation.

Lots of new customs all at once.  Nice to see.   :)

Snake Jedi - Great concept here, kind of gross but very cool.  Is he the same species as Oppo Rancissis?

Red Grievous - Nice paint application, but I'm not a fan of repainting a main character like that.  Is it supposed to be Grievous or some other droid?

Clone Woman - Not sure what the story is behind her, but looks interesting.

Dug - I like it a lot, Dugs are usually overlooked for some reason.  As for a color, I'd go with a grayish scheme.

thanks guys

DD: The female trooper didn't really come out the way I wanted. I wanted to use the Mcquarrie trooper, but they're so expensive, as I said above I missed a great chance to get 2 :'( and feel free to use the dug with a D rendar gun 8) oh and your probably right i took down greenday's stuff still funny though if someone gets a hold of him ;)

Chewie:
the THISSPIAN: the snake jedi is the same species as oppo (thisspians)

The greivous is actualy not grievous remember how my photo novels im eventualy going to do are to take place 300 years into the future.

The female clone as i said above just didnt turn out the way i wanted but you work with what you got. :-\ should i sculpt some breasts on it? to make it more female like. ???

the dug i modified after awhile. he just didn't look right so i made some armor outa green stuff.
Title: Re: sp1635s customs updated JAN 15 wip merc/bounty hunter
Post by: CHEWIE on January 16, 2006, 12:18 PM
Smarty, I wouldn't worry about trying to sculpt breasts onto her.  I would think the Clone armor is designed for men, and if a woman got a hold of a uniform, she would just have to have smushed breasts.

Yeah, more Dug customs.  I would love seeing more Dug and Toydarian customs (I've got a Dug aristocrat and Toydarian street musician in the works).

Anyway, onto your custom.  I really like this concept.  Dash Rendar's ugly backpack/gun thing works well with this custom.  The painting looks good, when you get better pictures of the scarring please post, because from the blurry photo it looks promising.  Also, the armor looks good, can you get a photo of it.  Is it sculpty or from a figure?

I like it too, in fact I have a box of very damaged carded figures I bought a few years ago, including the POTJ Sebulba.  I opened it last night because of Smarty's figure, I felt inspired.  I might make some sort of new Dug too.

Its nice to see Alien customs, I have a soft spot for Dugs myself, so Its nice to see one. The armor is a nice touch, and the rendar backpack/ gun thing goes with the figure very well. If I could find more exotic aliens I'd do more of them myself. But Dugs and toydarians are becoming exceedingly rare as of late. :'(

As far as Greenday is concerned, hes a little turd and he deserves whatever he gets. I say post his IM on RS, thats where the real fun will begin. Hes one of the reasons I left that board.

Chewie: man you really like my ideas as of late huh CHEW ;)

Thanks for the updated Dug picture.  I like what you did with the sculpting on it.  It looks very well done.

The others are very cool concepts.  On the Toydarian I think there is too much of the scarring.  It looks as nicely sculpted as the Dug, but seems like a bit too much.  If you want that much, I would maybe give it a black wash to darken it a bit, it might not stand out as much.  Just my two cents.   I like the droid parts on the Toydarian.  I did the same on a Rodian bounty hunter I made.  I didn't include any scarring on him, but might try it on the next one I do.

Is that an angel in the background of the Trandoshan figure?  At first it looked like a custom female Snivvian -- and it gave me an idea for a custom -- but when I looked more closely it looked like it had wings.  Either way it gives me a customizing idea.  Thanks for the update.

Thanks Bocreb, I think i may go back and give him a wash on his face, and remove a bit of scarring on the Toydarian. Oh and the angel is one of my Moms,  they are everywhere in the house. ::)

Interesting update... a couple I honestly don't really like, but that's just a matter of opinion.  Not bad work at all.

Vader Droid - I'm not sure what to think of this, it's weird... and not something I really think looks realistic.  It's just... I don't know.

Dug - I like the scarring.  It's maybe a bit thick and too red, but it's a great idea and pretty well done.  I might tone it down a bit, it kind of likes he got in a catsup fight!   ;)

Trandoshan - Blurry pic, so I can't really make out the details like I wish.  He looks a little thin, but that could be just me.  It's a good idea though, I like armored lizards.

Toydarian - Just maybe a bit too much scarring.  Other than that, I love this.  He really has an all new look to him, and doesn't look like Watto.  Love the metal leg, and the helmet looks great.  Best of the bunch.

That Toydarian is the best of the bunch. I also like the metal leg. The Bossk needs to have arms shortened. They are way too long even for this guy. The Vaderdroid reminds me of something that Sid from Toy Story would make.

Hi Ya Smarty

Very interesting figures mate I like the Trandoshan he really has that bounty hunter feel to him and teh scaring on the dug is simply great, jsut a suggestion thou with the scaring try giving it a dry brush or even a wash of a light pinkish colour it will give it more realisim.

The senator you've done a great job on him for elegant looking as they should be. And Madalorian I really like the concept of him especially the horn looking things on the helmet and the colour concept is great but my only nit-pick is the gaps in teh legs other then that great work mate.

I kind of like the Senator, but I think it's missing something... maybe repaint the head and hands to be one solid color like a blue tint, then dry brush lightly in grey, then a black wash?

The Mandalorian is just evil!  Wow, that helmet is just... awesome.  Very original and has a new "classic" Mandalorian look to it!

Hey Smarty,

I like the concept of that Vader droid, it's hard to do things using parts from Darth Vader figures, but something like that really works well.

The Mandalorian is a very cool design.  I like the use of tusks on his helmet, it's cool to see a modified Mandalorian helmet that still has the Mandalorian-vibe to it.  What are you going to do to his legs?  I think if you just repainted the thighs they might look fine, maybe you could fill in the gaps with some putty or something.

But then I got grounded so I couldn't customize, he's been done for about a week.

The next is a wip melle troop based of of Jub JuB Jedi's design so here you all go

great job on the melee trooper, and the gatling gun really sets him apart from other clones. i like the addition of the soft goods kama too, nice touch.

the kenobi clone is interesting...the pic is just a little blurry...the armor on the chest looks a little "lumpy" for lack of a better term. i like the sculpting you did on the helmet and the extra armor and spikes on the arm.

keep up the good work  :)

I find taking a picture farther away on portrait mode works better than close up. Digital cameras have a tough time focusing on close up objects. You can then put the picture in paint and crop the smaller image down to something viewable.
Title: Re: sp1635s customs updated feb 25 Arc heavy gunner and melle troop WIP
Post by: CHEWIE on February 26, 2006, 12:24 AM
The Gatlin gun clone turned out pretty good Smarty.  I'd suggest maybe painting his whole head black and then drybrushing the edges with a bit of white maybe... Might look cool.  Overall a nice clone for the Clone Wars.

The Obi Wan Clone... I have to be honest here.  I think you overdid it some on this one with the additions like the chest armor... this reminds me of some space GI JOE toy or something.  If you like it that's all that matters, but I don't think it's one of your better customs.  Maybe a clearer pic would change my mind.

Good to see another update out of you, and I like how you think out of the box and create new designs.

The melee clone has a at-te pauldron on him with a bit of trimming then smoothed out with the green stuff. I based it of this  here (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=9326.15) scroll down 1/3rd of the way. he looks much better now that he has some paint on him. I'll try to find an opening when my parents are gone so I can post them.

Smarty I've got to be honest, I'm not really liking this last custom you put up.

The extra chest armor looks like a misshapen blob of silver putty on his chest and doesn't really look too much like a practical armor piece, it really isn't giving him much extra protection, it is rather small and is only in the center of his chest, leave too many gaps that a blast would get through. The ankle holster is in a fine spot but the straps are way to thick and are also rather blobish. Maybe you could rework them with a different, thinner material. I don't like the additions to the knee armor either, it really doesn't serve much of a purpose and it just makes them look thicker, and the knee isn't a place where thick armor is practical. The right armor could use some detailing, if it is supposed to be a "power fist" then there needs to be some type of plating and wires around it. Right now it also looks more like a blob with three spikes on the end.

The additions to the shoulders are ok but they seem like they would get in the way a full movement. I don't like the idea of a sword either. That's what the big fist is for. The butt plate is also a bit over the top, he already has armor there, any ore is overkill and it makes no sense to put it there, because he can't sit, and that isn't a place the requires much armor since there aren't any vital organs in the ass.

I really, really don't like the Obi wan head though. This is supposed to be a clone, use a clone head or something at least close, like a Jango or a Typho. I just really anything other than a hero head. Even if it is painted it will still look like an Obi-Wan head. The helmet doesn't do it for me either. It looks like to many random pieces thrown together so they cover the head. The piece over the mouth looks kind of goofy and the visor looks out of place.

I'm not really digging the puke green color either, or that single black strip on the leg for that matter. It just seems out of place, asymmetry is fine but there needs to be more black elsewhere on the armor.

I think the one positive thing is the kama, you did do a good job with the soft goods.
Title: Re: sp1635s customs updated feb 28th finished melle troop.
Post by: Smartypants1635 on March 3, 2006, 09:30 PM
ok, Ryan yeah I'm gonna rework his stuff, but just so you know they are not clones you'll understand after my PN's start, if I can get an Anakin evo to create my main character jedi.

About the color it's the exact same color as bly and his troops, I matched the color from the evo clone the body is made from perfectly. also its not my design take it up with Jub jub jedi.
I do have some copper wire my friend gave me so maybe I'll use that to improve the fist.

Thanks for the comments Ryan

I like how the galting gun clone turned out, he definitely has that clone-wars vibe to him.
The Melee Clone reminds me of WH40K Space Marine (assault squad) or a Space Marine terminator.  I like the power-glove. The only thing that doesn't really work for me is the chest armor.  I think that using an AT-RT Driver's removable chest armor that was modified would look cool, the circular armor piece isn't working for me.
Still, great concept and I definitely dig that power-glove!

BIO, Its a 12 grade class for public schools and we are taking it in 9th grade it really sucks. :(

And thanks for the compliment Phruby I think he turned out really well to.
His body is a BBI guy with a mounted machine gun and his head is Comtech Han.
To get his head to fit I had to dremel down into the body from the neck and then drill a smaller hole in that for his neck post to go in. Took a bit of ingenuity but it worked great.

Hi there Smartypants1635,

I checked out your custom works today. You have a nice selection going there. I made a list of some of the figures and here are my comments:

I like the paint schemes you came up with for your clones. I am not big on clones modifications, you have some good ideas. The red trooper with the guns mounted on the front, from particle experience with the military, a trooper would not want to have the side arms directly in front of his chest. The armor is to bulky to get access to them and if a round should hit the chest, the guns would go off and do more damage. Just my opinion.

The snake jedi - very interesting design and nice paint job.

Black and Red Grevious - again nice paint scheme and application.

Black and Gold Droid - interesting concept. The head looks a little out of proportion to the body.

Merc Dug - I love this design, one of your best. I really like the green and orange with the silver costume. The texture for the face disfigurement looks awesome. Great job.

MCC Sith Lord Grisgo - interesting design. I am not a big fan of soft goods, but in this case, it works ok here. Now if I could turn you to the sculpting side, This figure could standout with sculpted detail. Just my two cents.

The Human Mechanic - Another fine piece of work here. I like the use of accessories (The pit droid had me rolling). The paint job is dirty, the figure looks used and abused which brings a sense of realism to the character.

Over all, I see your skills are progressing and it shows in your work. You are not afraid to experiment and take chances with your designs. Keep it up.

Hey I posted! But Im not sure I could be considered normal. :P ;D
Anything but normal, my crazy friend  :D :P ;)

Thanks for the compliments BEN I dabble in sculpting just not Entire figures. I'm to afraid to do that. The Red arc has been Modified since he was originaly posted along with my other arcs.
The red one stll has the holsters on his chest, but I figure since those are his main guns and since they are ion weapons and not projectile weapons like ours if they got hit they wouldn't go off since the guns shut down with the push of a button.

None of my arcs are done until I get a hold of RC backpacks. Then I can cast the packs and give them each an RC pack. Because each of these guys may have to paradive into enemy territory to get in undiscovered, they need RC backpacks. Each of those packs have a few seconds worth of fuel. IF they dive they pull it for the last ten seconds and none are the wiser.

BIO, Its a 12 grade class for public schools and we are taking it in 9th grade it really sucks. :(

Bio isn't a 12th grade class, it is 10th here in CO. I took it back in 9th grade and it really isn't that bad.

The mechanic looks pretty good Smarty but it doesn't really say SW to me. His pit droid helps, maybe you could give him some less earthy footwear or headgear.

Private school my friend, private school. It has the exact stuff my sister took for her Senior AP biology (she is a bio chem major :P) just toned down slightly. Thats what I hate about Private school everything is alot harder >:(

And I wouldn't know if he looked like that or not Clonehunter. Basicaly the only old cartoons ive seen are jetson, heman, flintstones, centurians and the smurfs (don't know if you'd count them) Scooby doo and hmmmm what else, thats pretty much else, I've seen others just not alot,  oooh I  remember jabber jaw.

Speed Buggy was a Hanna Barbera cartoon from the seventies at least.

SB & Tinker were in Laff-a-lympics and the whole SB crew did appear in at least one ep of Scooby Doo.

youre right he does kinda resemble that guy.

Back in New Orleans public schools Bio was a 9th grade class as well. At least it was when I took it. Of course I didn't actually pass it until my second year of 10 grade. :-[ My advice to you, teachers hate it when you roast your frog over the bunsen burner. DONT DO THAT!! Formaldahyde is flammable. Trust me on this one.

Yeah, they also don't like it much when you set up a circle of  those stabby sticks that you're supposed to be using to hold the skin apart , and then post the heads of the frogs on 'em... I was really good at Bio.  I guess that's why they let me back in... Really good, but REALLY bored...;D

Anyway, I really dig yer mechanic. He'd fit in really well just about anywhere in the SW universe (imo).  And your pic w/ the droid being held by the neck is great! :D

I like the mechanic a lot Smarty, good work on this one. Your paint apps are really improving - the greasiness works nicely on this character.

I took Bio in 9th grade & then Anatomy & Physiology in 11th grade in public school in Dallas. just wait till you get to Anatomy...we had to cut open a poor kitty....i got sick & threw up & was excused from that project  :-X

My sister is ordering me some figs off of Flea-bay tonight :P, I plan on making and articulated clone wars KIt fisto using a Luke Votc. And a few sith and jedi with what im purchasing.

I have to make a new mold, I was told that my latex molds would melt during the high temp curing so I had to get silicone for my molds. oh well I should have my mold done tomo morning and I should have my Cast sometime later tomorrow.

Also the Anoo dat prime cast I made is gone... I dont know where it went, so Im gonna make a new cast and shold have My anoo sith lord up soon, along with his jedi  rival.

I like the look of the ARC Trooper Commander, but I'll wait until you finish it up.  Are you going for a softgoods kama?  What head is that?

The Jet Clone Trooper looks cool, especially the color scheme.  I like the use of the Clone Pilot helmet

The Jedi Master turned out well.  Great softgoods usage there.

Do you have a reference pic for Anoo Dat Prime?  Is he a fanfic character?

I really like the head on this one. It's one of my favorite all-time headscuplts (if you recall oh, about 10 customs using this head) and the Anakin body works really well. One minor critique is to trim down the width of the SG below his belt to match the plastic width on the torso. He looks really good.

Thanks Corobb, I like it alot too, The reason there is no gun where the old one was is becuase of the engine intake, I kinda had to move it so i could fit the side foils on. A gun in front of the intake, I think it might not allow the intake to you know intake the air needed, also what if the gun broke off and flew into the engine. :-X and oh yeah BUMPO

That's cool, Smarty. It looks like the perfect super fast speeder for someone light, lithe, and dangerous! You should make the rider female - a girl who does not use brute force, but can kick some serious a$$ using stealth, speed & a light saber :D

I love the paint job. Very simple, very effective. And the side foils are a great addition! More please  :)

I also have 2 mercs in the works to go along side of my Dug merc featured a few pages back, and a Trandoshan sith that kicks some serious butt (now I just need A sneak preview wookie and a foul moudama to make a wookie jedi to fight him), a medic trooper and my Arc commander with new gear, so this soummer you'll all get a slew of updates.

These look pretty good, SP...I have a couple suggestions, though:

Maybe place the holster on your first ARC on his belt...I think it looks a little bulky and just a bit unrealistic. It's made nicely and everything, I just think it would look better if it were somewhere else.

Your second in looks really good...the sculpting of the hair looks very realistic, were you going for a 'helmet head' look? It's really dead-on.

The Jet Trooper looks very nice too...maybe sculpt some hair on Mace's head?

The Explosives expert is just top-notch work. I love the sculpted armor, it looks very professional. How long did it take you?

Hey Update everyone ;D

Soo first on my list is a sith lord I constructed few weeks ago.  I havn't come up with a good name, any suggestions will be appreciated.

Next Fritz and AE77 today helped me with realism weathering, I think it turned out pretty good ( I used the magic weather wand Fritz) I used the technique on them all but didnt feel like snapping shots of them all again.

Next is my Heavy gunner Redone. I cleaned up his paint job a bunch and added a few things.

Then we have my Melee trooper redone, I changed his power fist out and reweathered him.

Heres something I know you will all like. My wookie With shoulder pads added and a custom built helmet.

heres a pic of his rifle that he uses when not launching rockets.

Then we have a totally new Idea, Ive never seen anyone do something like this. A slicer ARC trooper.

A shot of his back pack
(http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b353/smartypants1635/DSC01310.jpg)

wrist datapad and screen
(http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b353/smartypants1635/DSC01311.jpg)

and his helmet
(http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b353/smartypants1635/DSC01312.jpg)

His back pack is an extension o f himself he can plug in since he's half robot also allowing him to interface with the computer. The back pack follows his thoughts like DOC Ocs robotic arms. The arms can help hold his weapon while he hacks or can do a multitude of things.

SOO let me know what you guys think.

Nice line-up, Smartypants!  For some reason, your photo of the red, green, & blue clones together puts me in m,ind of Huey, Dewey, and Louie... I wonder why.  ;)

The Trandoshan Sith Lord is really neat and creative -- like the softgoods skirt.  Only thing is, the Vader shoulder armor is still very recognizably Vader... perhaps a bit of repainting, especially on the silver parts, might help it look different.

I like the Wookiee in armor, too.  Nice sculpting, and another neat idea.  We see Humans in armor all the time, especially Mandalorians, but no aliens.  Is this Wookiee meant to look Mandalorian, or even just quasi-Mandalorian?

Happy customizing!  :)

Nice! The painting is smooth and crisp. That arm on the Melee Trooper reminds me of Mega Man. I like the Slicer ARC the best though. Really good job!

Great group of customs SP! I really like your wookie custom.  The armor looks great and is a nice touch.  I also like how you gave each of your clone a unique look to separate them.

You've been busy Smarty!

Trandoshan - I love it.  I would suggest making the neck peg a little shorter, or having it go into his head deeper though.  but other than that, a great custom.  Very evil looking.

ARC Troopers - Very well done, what an improvement.  Suddenly it looks like you've taken a huge leap on your painting!  Very nice buddy and better than Hasbro's versions.

Melee Trooper - Nice concept, the helmet seems a bit odd, but the rest of the figure I like.

Wookiee - Good upgrade, the helmet on his rocks.  I love Wookiees and this guy looks like he could talk on the whole Empire himself.

Slicer - That is a totally original idea... well done!  I love the different parts you used, really well done and a great idea.

 :)

Great update Smarty.  For the Trandoshan - how about Darth Tuskus.  I agree with Chewie that the peg looks a little long.  Otherwise, its a great looking custom.

However, the Slicer is my favorite.  Very nice execution on this particular trooper.

The weathering and additions to the ARC squad looks really good.  Some of the photos are still blurry so we don't get all the details.

I'm not sure on the wookie helmet.  I just haven't decided if I like or or not.

All in all a good update.

Hey, thanks for all the great feedback.

Esther: Thanks for the kind words, I'll take your idea about the Trando's armor into consideration. Also, the Wookie armor is roughly based off of clone armor, so if clone armor is based off of mandalorian armor I guess it is Mando-ish.

Travis: Thanks buddy, glad you liked this batch. I never really thougth about him looking like megaman. I used to watch megaman and play the games when I was little( I still do from time to time) I guess I subcontiously incorporated his design ;D.

Brisk: thanks for the compliment :)

Phalanxx: I like the wookie alot too. :) On the note of them all being different, I try to differentiate them to give them the optimum look for each job they cary out.

Justin: Thanks Buddy for all of the kind words. On the Trando, I see what you mean about the neck, I've added some greenstuff and hope to post some pics tonight. On the Arc troopers, all the credit for improvement go to Ae77 and Fritz for the help. Mellee trooper, I wanted him to be a bit different ;) On the wookie, it was difficult finding something that could serve as shoulder gear for him, as well as a helmet. I finally found what I was looking for though, the AOTC assasin droid. ;D and finally on the slicer It was really fun to make.

Brent. The slicer I would say is not my favorite but is pretty high up on my list. The weathering as stated before were achieved with the help of some customizers on the board.

Thanks for all the kind words, updates will hopefully come more often

Dude that is awesome. You sculpted that? Dome damn fine details on that .

Ive apparantly missed a few of the updates, so Im going to go ahead and post on them now.

The Arc team looks great. Even though the holster on the leaders chest is a bit large, it still looks really cool.

The Wookie is my fave. I love his gun. The helmet is Fan-F'ing-Tastic. How did you make that? The armor on this guy is great too. Good job.

The gunners color scheme is sweet, Ive always been kinda partial to black and white.

The slicer clone is one of the best new concepts for a clone that I've seen in quite a while. I love the backpack. I wasnt quite sure what it was at first, but once it dawned on me I laughed my arse off. I consider that  functional trophy.

Great job all around.

Nice start on the Verpine, your sculpting skills have definately improved sinde the Anoo Dat Prime.  Don't forget the Antennas.  Are you going to give him kit(gear)? I ask because Verpins are known for their afinity for mechanical devices and their engineering skills which are natrual to them, even if he is a Jedi raised in the temple from childhood.

Nice ARCs t,. but the holsters on the Captain are too big,  try making form fitting holsters for the DC-15s.  I take a small piece of black binder vinyl and wrap it around the weapon then I glue it.  After that I make some cuts to get the final shape for it i.e. belt strap, trigger gap.....

For dual Holsters use the above method but don't glue.  Make your cuts and then you have a template for the next one.

Doing it this ways is not as clean cut as Outrider's but you get custom fitted holsters for each gun, and they don't look bulky or outta scale.

Anyways, Great customs and your thread shows how far you have progressed from when you started which is considerable.  Keep up the great work and happy customizing.

LOL I was the one that gave him the binder Vinyl tip.

Thanks Im considereing molding the Evo rifle then taking the barrels and handles from that one seeing that they are smaller, It cuts down the size immensly.

The Verpine will be getting Antennae, but casting them with the head was to hard so I cast them seperately. ;) On the Tools note, I'm looking for the right belt to use that I can hook a hilt to and a bunch of tools. Can't seem to find one I like. :P

wow, very good job on the head sculpting and soft goods. the whole figure looks great!definetley one of my favorite jedi from the comics, i've really wanted to try one but im horrible at sculpting, you've done as excellent job though.

i think mabey a bit more weathering on the body with a darler green would bring out the features more. mabey a bit of paint on the sachel also, just to get rid of the camo. just a couple suggestions!

again though great job, definetley a hard charecter to do and you've done it very well!

Good use of Parts Smarty, but I have three peeves.  One is the lack of stomach/waist armor,  the second is the ill fitting helmet, and the third is th Han head hiding inside the helmet.  IMO, fix those and you have a custom that goes from good to excellent,  but then again its only my opinion.  Its all up to you.  BTW great Verp head sculpt and your ARCs look very good.

A lando helmet POTF2, saga or any other.
A cantina han torso and legs.
The Dino warrior figures from target for the plates and such clone legs, and a bossk ankle bandolieron the left leg.
And a bunch of mixed parts for the right arm, and an anakin BP arm and clone glove for the left arm.

Took a while to make it

Speaking of counting things at stores, my local Kb Toys had 12 pegs full of basic figs and not one had any good figs, i.e. Sandies, Codies, U Clones, Scorches, nothing.

Smarty, I'm liking the sculpts.  Is that some sort of blue (purple?) sculpy?  I've only seen the boring plain stuff.

Thanks for hte compliments guys, these were fun to make, and so was the Verpine.

Brents, Sculpey comes in every color imaginable. I do alot of arts and crafts. My nativity sets made of sculpey figurines go for around 40$ at christmas time as well as a team of Reighndeer and A sleigh with santa go even higher sometimes, just casue ther are more figurines.
I also make Noahs Ark, and tons of other little things. I have things for all occasions, and they all sell at 15$ or higher in auctions. :D Thats why I have every color imaginable.

Well I also have another sculpt to share.

I made an Advozse, and for those who don't know whatthey are here is a pic

and a view from the side

Well, here I am.  :)

Your alien sculpts are very nice and accurate to the species. I wish I could sculpt.

I especially like the Rhino face and the one with the horn coming out of his head- they both look excellent.

I also really like the WIP Neimoidian, any hint on who he's gonna be?

the sculpting looks awesome on the Rhino alien, very detailed and looks like the reference pics you have there.

the skull cantina alien looks good too, the refinements you did on him look much better, more like what i remember him looking like in the movie.

the advozse looks very good, the proportions of the eyes and the horn look very well done.

i think your sculpting has come a long way already. its not easy to sculpt in 1/6th scale let alone the smaller stuff for the 3 3/4" guys. good job on all these. i look forward to seeing them completed!

Echoed from what i said over at FFURG,
These sculpts are great.

What medium are you using?

Advozse, is definatly the best of the bunch. Symetrical and everything.

While the Gavin and "rhino-like" one are very good, the gavin could use a bit of re-working the eyes and the left jaw.
the "rhino-like one seemd to just need shortening (side ways)

Other than that, these are excellent sculpts. I cant wait to see these on a figure.
Keep up the great work.

Thanks glass, I just use plain old sculpey, I have about 50 different bricks of sculpey for my crafts I sell.

Thanks for the compliments on them, I am really pleased with them, I'm trying to cast them today, and then I'll put together a body.

The rhino dude, I changed a bit since that picture, I extened his eye stalk things farther forward, and made it look more true to the referance.

OK another quick update The wookie has a name. Verun Forr

Any way, I bring you a redone Ra'an Morne

Verun and Ra'an have been good friends ever since Ra'an completed the trials at age 15 the second person to ever have achieved such a feat. Verun and Ra'an were assigned to a squad of peacekeepers to settle a dispute on Malastare Home of the dugs, and the Gran.

During this mission Verun and Ra'an were ambushed, and Verun was shot down. Ra'an acting quickly repelled the terrorists that dared to attack Galactic alliance ambassadores. Verun wounded extremely bad, was lifted by Ra'an, and by using hte force brought him to a Gran Medical facility where he was saved, but sapped of much of his youth.

The stress of the attack and wound Turned many of his Hairs silver and made many of his muscles unusable and made breathing difficult.

Through several years of Force therapy he has finally made a full recovery and both Ra'an and Verun have been appointed to the position of Jedi Master, and Ra'an only being 18 standard years is the youngest member in 50 years. Verun has also sworn a life debt to his best friend who saved his life.

Very cool! That facial hair on Ra'an does make the Anakin head look alot different.
Great work!

Hmmm as far as alien heads how about some Gand or Trandoshan varients? Those pop in mind. I would come up with something more creative but its 3 am here as I type this and I am half asleep...LOL
As far as the Trandoshan, I am thinking along lines of Republic Commando game look...

That forked saber is really cool! Very creative.
Verun Forr's attacking pose makes him look even more intimidating!

This Is A Great Custom, The Only Thing I Would Suggest Is To Work On The Eyes A Little They Seem To Blend In With The Head Way Too Much. In My Opinion They Need To Be Darker. Other Than That I Think It is a great and unique Custom.

Smartypants, great work on those Nautolans. Jat in regular Jedi gear is executed very well. The variations in skin tone between Jat and his commander is also a cool feature.

Talking about colours: that scheme on Kahn Rottan is bright, fresh and quite original. You don't see that many Jedi wearing much white. Very nice change from the usual tans and browns  8)

Those are some really great looking figures there.  My favorite of the 3 is the pilot.  I've never seen a more creative use for a Vader.  Its beautifully blended and I love the chest box with those straps.

The muscle is very nicely painted and the green is the perfect choice for that thug.  Also the rebel soldier legs are perfect for such a character.  Very well done.  I also like the holster.  Nice.  If it were my figure I may pait the hooded portion of the figure from brown to possible that blueish color or maybe even black.  Still a well made figure.  Cool!

Great mix of parts with these guys, Smarty. I especially like the Arcona pilot, very appealing combination of Vader parts with the Clone Pilot.

The leader looks good too, what head is that?

The Ithorian "muscle" looks really nice, I at first didn't spot the Endor legs. You disguised them very well.

Great update Adam.

Ok so this is one I really wanted to make a long time, and when the new year came, I remembered the showdown figures would be gone in notime because of hasbro taking over. So I grabbed the last Beast I could find specifically for this alien.

This is a Togorian, native to the planet of Togor, the males of the species are very nomadic, while the women develop the civilization and technology. Here is a pic
(http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Togorian.jpg)

Here is my version, I blended both pictures I found on Wookiepedia, and since no 2 artists draw a character the same, I felt ok with the sculpt.

never heard of togorians, but you make them look pretty cool from your custom! nice job, i notice a little extra articulation in some places, neat touch. paint aps are pretty good, and your utilization of softgoods was very effective. good job, keep it up!  8)  :)

Quote from Yakfinities thread at YAK. The theme for the month was Dark Jedi

Ok I made mine, technically hes a "sith" but i dont really think theres a whole lotta difference. I havnt come up with a name, Maybe Darth Marauder. Hes the Foil to Ra'an in my story line.

Smartypants, very nice job.  I don't do customs, but your Darth Marauder looks very cool.  I certainly don't want to meet him in a dark alley at night.

I like his shoulder armor especially, and the paint scheme is well-done.  The face I'm not sure about yet...are those tattoos?  Maybe sand the black down a bit so it's not so pronounced, but that's just my opinion.

Hey everyone well I got some sculpting done last week. A revised Advosec and a Selkath. Let me know what you think.
PS these are clay masters painted up. not the final resin casts(my mold making supplies died on the shelf, and i only had used 1/3rd of it :x )

Smarty, Dude, these sculpts are fantastic. Advosec is very well done, and the paint job is excellent.
I can make more details out in that picture than i can in the Selkath, but both look great.

Looks great!
Too bad the molding supplies died.
Wonder if you can still make molds of the painted heads without ruining the paint? I know sometimes my mold making material strips paint off, but not often.
Out of curiosity, where did the Advosec origionate? Was one in Mos Eisely Cantina?

Erectile Dysfunction?  Try Advosec.

Rectal Bleeding?  Try Advosec.

I jest due to my ignorance.  Never heard of Advosec, but I do take Prilosec!

The Advosec looks kind of like a hairless Ewok, I think it's just the big eyes and nose.  Great job, as I am not ballsy enough to try faces yet.

The Selkath is by far my favorite.  The head shape is spot on, and the skin makes it look like it jumped out of KOTOR.  Nice job Smarty.  A guy your age producing this quality work is really amazing.  When I was your age, I was rocking out to Winger and Metallica, worried about keeping my mullet at the required 10/90 ratio.  Just remember us little guys when you're working for the big H.

The Advosec Named Bom Vimdin was in fact a cantina patron. I dunno if he was seen in ANH but I know he was in holiday special.

Thanks Ruprecht, Thats a Big compliment. I dunno If I will ever work for Hasblow but maybe do a bit of freelance stuff on the side :P haha I must say that the Selkath is my favorite aswell. I like it alot.

Oh BTW these both took anywhere from an hour to 2 and half to produce these heads like I do. Of course, they are no where near in detail like a figures or JMB's but I think IF I got into wax casting and sculpting, I could do even more detail once I got the hang of it. But that may just be my ego talking haha.

Heres one that I just finished yesterday night, painting outside, when its getting dark is not the best way to paint, and was surprised there wern't any goof ups or blotches on him. This is a Redux of my Nautolan Jedi. The upper body remained the same, but I assembled the lower body out of the original base figure with the help of some DSG lower legs to give it some articulation.

He has all the points of articulation except the waist, the way he is assembled required me to glue him together. But I believe this version is superior.

First without tunic

Next with the tunic

Update!!! I finally found the head I wanted for my Dark lord of the sith, and I picked his body up 2 weeks ago! Thank you Hawkeye for the Gung ho head, it wouldn't have been possible with out you.

Darth Marauder:
Darth Marauder is the leader of the Sith, after the Sith imperial wars ended. Only a few of Darth Kraytes members had survived. They retreated into deep uncharted space. Here over the past 300 years, the sith have been biding their time. Darth Marauder, a young and powerful sith lord, recently took control of the Sith. His ambitions are great, and his strategy flawless. The Galactic Alliance WILL fall.
