Title: Star Wars Episode VIII (SPOILER FREE)
Post by: Dave on February 15, 2017, 02:25 PM
Figured we should get this started for those of us that want to avoid as many spoilers as possible.

Does anyone know when the official teaser is going to be released?

Just based on what I just posted in the Spoiler thread I would guess at Celebration

Anyone know when we'll get a real trailer?  Or was that it?

I thought for sure we would have seen one in front of Spider-Man:Homecoming, but now I think we'll be waiting until October.

I guess Disney can do whatever they want and still sell a trillion tickets, but it's getting to the point where it just seems really weird.

Any whispers on when pre-sale tickets are going to take place?

Mark Hamill teases new TLJ trailer October 9th. (http://www.starwarsunderworld.com/2017/09/mark-hamill-teases-new-last-jedi.html)

That's probably when tickets go on sale as well.

Is there really a reason for tickets to go on sale months in advance? There will be plenty of time to see it. Even first day morning tickets never sell out. I guess if you really need a midnight showing but I would avoid it. Too many obsessed fans making noise during the movie. Maybe I'm just getting old. This is the usual pure hype.

I like the pre-sales.  I've taken the kids to the 7PM opening showing for TFA and RO.  Both sold out within hours of going online months ahead of time.

Maybe it depends on the theater you go to, but I live in suburbia and the crowds are very respectful.  There are a handful of fans dressed up, but its not hardcore - its mostly families.

Does anyone know the nature of the special content in the TLJ 6pm showings on 12/14? I’m hoping it’s not much behind the scenes footage as I am going into this movie free of seeing trailers and any content in general. I would like to have the movie start and just absorb it all as it happens.

I thought you just got a ticket, pop, popcorn, and some small trinket.  I've not heard of different video content before.  Has that been rumored/announced?

Thats a good point about the word "video" content. Most showings list "exclusive content" but don't mention the word video. Here's the listing for the zoo IMAX.

My guess is the “exclusive content” is the trinket.

I've been struggling with the Topps Star Wars Card Trader App over the past week too.  Lots of new cards with scenes I don't really want to see yet.  I've been opening the packs but trying not to look closely at the images.  Can't wait for Thursday.

I received a reply from the Manager from the MN zoo Imax. They don't yet have any word on the length of the "exclusive content".

I sure hope it isn't that 2 minute long garbage where the cast and director say hi to the audience. No thanks.

I've checked out some info during the production of TLJ, but based on the initial word out of the world premiere?  I'm checking out from social media for the next few days.  Especially after I heard word of some trolls on twitter who have been tweeting spoiler hashtags and saying that they were doing it for a laugh.

I'm checking out from social media for the next few days.

Same here...  it's been hard trying to find news to post on the front page because I've just tried to avoid the social media internet as much as possible the past few days. :P

It's going to be a tough couple of days....but I've seen a couple of spoiler free reviews and they are glowingly positive!

Some have said it's the best Star Wars film ever....I find that hard to believe in a universe where Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back exists.

I missed the "exclusive" content because I was in a long line to get a free popcorn/soda included with the price of my ticket. Apparently it was just a behind the scenes look at John Williams making the soundtrack. No Han Solo trailer.

More of a general interest note than anything else.  I was watching some of the BTS features on the BluRay, notably Andy Serkis's performance as Snoke.  And something about the throne was sticking out to me.  And then I realized where I had seen that throne before...

The design for Snoke's throne has the same silhouette as Ralph McQuarrie's original design for the Emporer's throne in the lava chamber.  I continue to be surprised and impressed how the new films are looking to those original designs for inspiration in the current films.
