Hey guys,
Long time no see. I come with an agenda, a (very important)question if you will. I have completed my first semester of college, and I am looking for good 3D animation schools(ones that you recommend). I have heard many good things about Collins in Tempe, UAT in tempe, Digipen in WA, Ringling in Florida, Cal art, and Vanart.

Affordability wise Collins and UAT are in my price range, while places like Vanart and Ringling are just way too expensive. My roommate at my current school is transferring to UAT, come this fall, at the recommendation of a few 3d artists at Blizzard Entertainment that work for a friend of his.
I haven't made my final decision if I want to do Game art, or Animation for movies or special effects. UAT focuses on the game art side of the field, where as I don't have any idea as where to go(besides Vanart, digipen, and ringling) if I want to do Movie animation. If I remember correctly a few people that frequent(ed) the forums work in this field. I've sent an email to Frank(niub niub) to ask him where he attended school to eventually work at ILM.(nothing on his site about his university, or if he attended one)

EDIT: I also realize that in the industry its not always where you went but your talent and skill. It's about how well you can do the job. However I want a school that can "help" accomplish this.

If anyone has some preferences or favorites lemme know, I would love to read your input. It would make a very nice Birthday present.
Thanks once again,

Adam

« on: August 14, 2009, 08:23 PM »
It's been a long time since I posted here at JD(hell I haven't been very active anywhere as of late)
However I saw an article today that reminded me of some good times we had in a certain locked thread.

Over on Kotaku(a game news website), this showed up.
linky

If you were around for the old Jim Ward topic then this should be a pretty good laugh.

Watto's Junk Yard / Alien Ware PC
« on: April 10, 2008, 09:24 PM »
So lately I have been getting more and more into PC gaming, Mice are much more accurate and instead of using just 4 fingers on a console, your using at least 8 on the pc. Reactions are faster, and aiming is soo much easier. The Game play is faster and more intense. You don't get the 12 year olds playing on there because they cannot afford a 2.5-5 thousand gaming PC. LAN tournaments are also big and the competition is just so much more intense.

So I have been looking around and I found my PC the alien ware 15x
heres my custom specs

Price with shipping and Alien armor case around 2.6 thousand dollars Mind you this computer will last me 4 years(before upgrade then possibly 6 or 7) and then is upgradeable unlike other laptops. Most laptops have an integrated Graphics card but because its a gaming system I can freely upgrade for a small price in 4 years.

So I grabbed a Razer Lachessis mouse the best gaming mouse out on the market at the time.
AND this PC will even play CRYSIS the most intensive game of all time :o

I should be able to afford this just before the end of summer break this year.(wish I could get it sooner but I dont make much)
Also since this is one of the most powerful PC's out there I won't have any limitations to what I can do with it. :o

Well As some of you may know, Next year is my last year in high school. Its hard to believe its been almost 4 years since I started Posting here. :o(I know some of you still view me as that 13 year old running around the forum unchecked causing problems ;))

I've been researching alot of different majors that I would be interested in. I started Looking at engineering or architecture(this is still a possibility). However lately I have been really liking the idea of graphic design.
One of the colleges I have been looking at, Grand Canyon U. has an awesome course in graphic design, with internships at Disney and other large companies right out of school. Plus its a Christian school, which I would really like to attend one if the money allows.

I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this school, or if they have had any Graphic design experience at all(professionally or as a hobby). I would really like to hear your take on this as a career and the basic things that would go into a job like this.

Thanks so much for your time, I really appreciate it.

Watto's Junk Yard / Who was it that
« on: July 12, 2007, 08:34 PM »

I can't find it in the board search.

So today I decided I was gonna mold some head sculpts. I haven't done that since my Verpine custom sculpt a couple months back.

I have only used 1/3 of my molding material in both parts of course.
Well I open my smooth on Oommoo part B the really really thick stuff(green colored),and I dip my spoon in, and thud right against it. It leaves a mark or an impression when I push the spoon in but it is way to thick to scoop. And it definitely won't pour.

I never used the spoon that I used in part A in the Part B bottle when I did my last mold or any other time. (I use plastic spoons and toss 'em when I'm done.)

I store this Gunk in my Basement workshop. And Colorado has been pretty chilly( my basement has been anywhere from 45 degrees to 65 this winter). Could this have effected my part B(part A only separated and had to be shaken up and stirred, Kinda like organic peanut butter, how the oils rise to the top)

If I heat it up(like bring it upstairs and let it sit) will it become pourable again??

I would really like to mold my advozec and my Selkath sculpts. Maybe even get one or two customs of those done to put them in the UGP

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Last night, fritzkrieg, starkid, and I were in the chat room talking, and we wondered how come we don't ever have scheduled chats, specifically for customizing.
The boards can be great for long time period stuff but talking in real time has some great advantages to it. So everyone toss out days and times that work and we'll make this happen once a week. ;)

and
Fritz?? (you still want to do this buddy?)

Watto's Junk Yard / Kingdom hearts 3 ??!!?!?!
« on: May 6, 2006, 11:38 AM »
First off I hope this is ok because I see that this is a SW game board, but I see Halo2 so...
Any way for you KH players out there, JmasterBen, Starkid and the others, only click this link if you want to see a preveiw for the 3rd game, if you did not watch the credits through you missed them. Note these contain spoilers. the normal ending seen at the end of the game and at the end of credits and preview/ begginning of KH 3 Any thoughts on who those armored beings are?

My guess Sora Riku and Kairi. 1 was deffinately a girl, and riku was always taller than Sora and Kairi did end up with a keyblade, evon though the one she picks up there is The king's.
