Two rumors addressed:

PlayStation 4 does not require an internet connection (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-02-21-playstation-4-does-not-require-an-internet-connection)

PlayStation 4 will not block used games (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-02-21-sony-tells-eurogamer-playstation-4-will-not-block-used-games)

The used game issue was a big one, IMO.  I don't buy a ton of used games, but I sell pretty much every game after I'm finished with it.

So far I like what I see (read?) and I'll wait until we get a price point and info on backwards compatibility before I decide to bite. Although I'm probably sold based just on the new Bungie game Destiny.

Backward compatibility is going to be handled through cloud computing.  Basically if you want to play a PS2 game you go into the library on the cloud and a remote server does all the computing.  They haven't disclosed price or if you'll be able to register games you already own.

Great, more tracking of consumer behavior.  What if I just want to play my games and have the hardware I purchase do it?  Blech.

Then you probably need to keep your older console.

When I bought my PS3 (at launch) it was nice having BC for a handful of games, but I probably only play 6 total PS2 games on my PS3.  I rarely go back and play games I've already beaten.  Some people do, but I think it's only about 5% of gamers (stat I read recently).  Different things for different people.  I'd rather have a $499 new console that won't play old game discs than a $599 new console that does.

I love how they forgot to take picture of the console and tell us the price. Oh and buy a Vita. Thanks!

Here is the abridged version of the conference.

Well its better looking that the xbox one, has faster ram, it's a $100 cheaper and no stupid DRM/used games problem. The games look pretty much the same. The camera is not included. It costs $60 so that makes the PS4 $40 cheaper. Who needs the camera anyway? I'd say PS4 for the win mostly on the friendlier used game policy but that could easily change.

Sony's event was one death blow to XBone after another.  They won this one, hands down.

Microsoft is going to have to make some large adjustments if they don't want to be a distant third in this thing by the time it's all over and done with.

This probably doesn't help their cause...

Is it backwards compatible?  I know the answer, I just thought I'd ask anyway

Can you say "No"? I knew you could.

I think the PS4 has a similar feature with the new share button on the controller.

Picked up my PS4 at midnight.  I've played about 5 hours of Assassin's Creed 4 so far.  Brilliant stuff.  There's a really nice leap in graphics.  And the controller is awesome.

How small is it compared to the latest ps3 model?  It looks about the same size.

Tried to get be for my son this morning. I got to Target early and was 17th in line. They had 16 to sell.  The hunt is on... Not sure why we didn't preorder this.

I have the first "slim" model, and the PS4 is actually a bit smaller.  About half as tall, and narrower.  It is deeper, though.

I was watching a disassembly of this machine. It's truly a work of art regarding how it was engineered. The motherboard looks like it has nothing on it. It's a magical thing....like Tihiti.

I had the BF4 bundle pre-ordered but ended up dropping it on account of my being really, really particular with my finances.

Looking forward to eventually getting this bad buy, but I only play on the rarest of occasion so I'm not too thrilled about the PSN subscription.

Yeah... I think I'm finally ready to buy a PS4:

Darth Vader-Inspired PS4 System Revealed, Two Star Wars Bundles Out This November (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/08/16/star-wars-ps4-bundles/)

Only thing I have to figure out now is whether it's a Christmas present for ME (Star Wars Battlefront Deluxe Edition) or for the whole family (Disney Infinity 3.0 Star Wars).  ???

I never got the r2-d2 xbox 360. I wish I had. This one might fill that gap and look great in my star wars office/game room.
