Vintage Kenner / Take a look at what I got!

Today started off like any other day. I woke up, goofed off around the house, watched some TV.

Then, dad came home from a flea market and called me in to see something. At first I was annoyed, as I thought it would be something I had no interest in.

What he did was present this to me:

He had bought me a lot of vintage Star Wars figures. All of the original 12 (including an extra Stormtrooper and Jawa) along with 2 other non-Star Wars figures and a generic Star Wars case (which I will bring up in another thread).

I had stayed out of vintage for a long time due to high costs. However, here in one fell swoop, I have the original 12. He presented it to me as a (very) early Christmas present, as he wanted to be sure I wouldn't buy any of these by Christmas time.

Anyway, as for the figures themselves, they are in great shape for the most part. The Vader's cape is torn unfortunately, and one of the Jawa's, Han Solo, Princess Leia, the Death Squad Commander, and Chewbacca are missing their weapons.

I didn't think it was bad considering only 5 of 14 figures were missing weapons.

Anyway, it looks like I am now into the world of Vintage Star Wars collecting, as I can right now picture my shelf being completely filled with the entire vintage collection.

Hey CHEWIE, I noticed that durring the POTJ line, the Wal*Mart in DeSoto wasn't carrying any Star Wars goods at all.

It looks like in non-movie years, only the big Wal*Mart stores carry the product now.

Makes things that much harder.

I too have considered picking this up, but I am still unsure considering the price is still very high.

If it drops any, I will get it quicker than a blink... but at this point I am still thinking about it.

I would buy these, but I haven't seen anything new around here for months.  The chances are thin that I will actually pick these up at retail.

They all look pretty good to me though (except the KE Jango and the C-3P0).  The only thing I'm not excited about when it comes to Vader is this "Lightsaber throwing action".  It doesn't seem like a good idea to make a toy that propells the lightsaber.  Does that mean he will hold it pretty loose?

As you can see, clearly the T-16 Luke with a new lightsaber, and the MOTDS Vader.

The ANH versions of Luke/Vader are definately the MOTDS Vader and the Luke that came with the little T-16.

I think that the repack of the MOTDS Vader was a good decision, as the figure wasn't widely available and is considered to be one of the best Vader sculpts.

However, I question their intentions of repacking the T-16 Luke.  We just got a Tatooine Luke with the Landspeeder.  Do we really need another right now?  And if so, why this version?  Why not release a Luke with articulated elbows AND knees, and pack in a pancho?

On an unrelated note, them rereleasing the Kamino Escape Jango Fett is simply ridiculous.

Hello all.

I seriously hope this hasn't been debated already, as I did a search for this and didn't yield any results.

Anyway, there is some debate going on at (evil) RS about the color of Jedi Luke's cloak, and what color it should be when made.

Personally, I always thought the robe was brown like the vintage figure.  It certainly CAN look black at points in the movie, but that is due to some serious backlight as Luke is entering Jabba's Palace.

Anyway, what is your take:  black or brown?

Hello all.

I was referred to this forum by a collecting friend of mine over at Rebelscum.  I have grown tired of the attitude and general lack of disrespect over there, and have decided not to put up with it anymore.  I am hoping that this place can be my salvation from the madness and mayhem that is Rebelscum!
