The Legacy Collection / Re: SDCC'08 Exclusives Revealed
« on: February 26, 2008, 03:45 PM »
I'm calling it now, the Gree Mighty Mugg will cost $25 (due to the "Special SDCC Packaging") and the Executor Chamber will be $50. Meaning that SWS.com will sell them afterwards for, oh, double the cost.

I don't know, I'm not expecting much from the Chamber. Sounds like it'll be a rehash Vader on a small platform with the OTC Holo Emperor over a flashlight.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What HDTV to buy - LCD, Plasma, DLP
« on: February 24, 2008, 10:09 PM »
I'm starting to look into purchasing an HDTV sometime soon for my room. A 36" or bigger would be my ideal choice but they're way too expensive for me, so I'm looking at the 26" ones. So far I'm leaning towards this since I don't have a DVD player (always used my computer or PS2 for movie viewing).

Does anyone know which stores generally have the best deals or selections on HDTV's?

The Legacy Collection / Re: 2008 UGH "1st Day of Issue" Promotion
« on: February 21, 2008, 06:09 PM »
Gawd, i can just see a bunch of scalpers at midnight madness (if that even happens), trying to cash in. Boy, are they going to be surprised.

The sad thing is that while this UGH is even MORE lame than the previous two, there are still going to be the OCD collectors who HAVE to have these "special" cards, and would gladly pay top dollar for them on eBay if they have to.

(no offense to the JDers who collect packaging variations)

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Hayden Christensen hates Star Wars, too
« on: February 21, 2008, 01:25 PM »
Quote
Hollywood actor HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN will not take part in any future STAR WARS movies - because the sci-fi franchise stifled his creativity.

What creativity? Hayden looks and acts exactly the same in all of the movies I've seen him in - like he's bored out of his mind.

I caught Jumper on Friday... interesting, to say the least. I'd say it's more of a rent/buy on DVD flick. Also, Samuel L. Jackson has this awful wig that makes him look like Sisqo. Made me and my friends chuckle.

Just finished reading this for a US History class:

Insanely crazy stuff and it really shows you how bad it was in the country back then.

The Legacy Collection / Will Droids become the new Clones?
« on: February 17, 2008, 02:48 PM »
So, I couldn't help but notice all of the droids that were shown off at Toy Fair. Now I'm a huge droid enthusiast who's been waiting a decade for new droids that aren't C-3PO and R2-D2. We're getting the new Droid Factory sets, and the Build-A-Figure will consist of Protocol and Astromech droids. Now this is all fine and dandy, but I can't help but think back to the early days of AOTC and ROTS when all we were getting was white Clones. Hasbro started to pump out the colored Clones based on ones in the film, and around 2006/2007 they started going overboard with the colors. Now it's to the point where it seems like Hasbro is just making up colors, slapping together a backstory for a Clone Squadron, and putting them on the shelves. I'm scared that this same thing is going to happen with the droids.

Now granted, there are probably hundreds of millions of droids in the galaxy, so it's believable that some color schemes could actually exist in the "real" SW world. I'm just worried that Hasbro is going to start offering us "Felucia Camoflauge Astromech Droid!" or "Imperial Shadow Protocol Droid!" instead of something we'd all like to buy. Same thing that happened with the Clones; I'd rather not see Hasbro oversaturate the market with droids, since they appear to be pretty popular with everyone.

Hopefully I'm not coming off as negative, since I'm pretty pumped for these new sets. This is just some food for thought.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: 2008 Clone Wars AT-TE
« on: February 17, 2008, 02:47 AM »
One thing I'm now wondering... when Hasbro says it can hold 20 Clones, do they mean it can hold 20 Animated Style Clones, 20 Movie Style Clones, or both? Looking at the pics, the Animated Clones are smaller and skinnier and overall look like they would take up less room than the SA Clones we've already gotten.

Well of the Souls / Re: Hasbro 3.75" Figures - 2008 Wave 1
« on: February 16, 2008, 11:51 PM »
Loving it, I'll be sure to pick up the SA OT Indy and all of the KOTCS figs. Some of the headsculpts though... yikes.

I second the comments about the Shia LaBeoff figure. It's accurate... for a figure of him based off of his Disney Channel days. He also looks to have the scale of TPM Anakin and AOTC Boba Fett. Hopefully it's just the pictures and they'll give him the stubble and a reasonable height.
