The Legacy Collection / Re: 2008 Evolutions Sets
« on: March 7, 2008, 12:39 AM »
To me the little Boba and Mandalore have about equal "interesting" factor, but that's me.  I would've taken a film figure that needed a resculpt (but would be pegwarming fodder on its own) in the set then.

This is what I was getting at in my earlier post. I follow selected EU (SOTE, KOTOR 1, Thrawn Trilogy and Clone Wars cartoon, if you must know) so of course I'd rather have a movie figure instead of something I'm not familiar with. The Mando doesn't look like a bad figure, but yeah, if given the choice I'd take Boba Brat over him any day of the week.

And CHEWIE, thanks for the trade offer, but when I find both sets I've decided I'll keep all the figures. The Jedi are good enough to keep, and I'll just throw the Mando in somewhere on my shelf.

I can't see a majority of the collectors / kids wanting Boba Brat over a cool looking EU guy.

Exactly.  The prospect of having a SA baby Boba figure is about as exciting as having a SA TPM Annie figure.  Of course, down the line, maybe Hasbro will make a Bratty Kid Evolutions set with both of those figs included.

Heh, I actually want a SA TPM Annie. :-X

Finally saw my first sighting of this wave today. There was no Gree or BARC but at least one of everything else. I almost bought the Anakin and Obi-Wan but ultimately decided against it. Ball jointed knees aren't enough for me to pay $7.50 for figures I already have multiple versions of, especially when all I do is stand them on a shelf. I almost bought Po Nudo (sp?) and 2-1B but the paintjobs on all of the Po faces were awful and all of the 2-1B's were warped due to the cheap plastic it looks like Hasbro used on it. No interest in the droids. (I'll pick up the Tri-Droid or whatever it is in the Mygeeto battle pack)

The Legacy Collection / Re: 2008 Evolutions Sets

I think that's the crappy thing about these new Evolutions sets... none of the sets have that "MUST BUY!" appeal with all 3 of the figures. I mean, look back at the original sets. Both Clone sets had "ultimate" Clones (not to mention that it was the first time an AOTC Clone had been available at retail in several years) and a decent Sandtrooper too. The Sith set had our first ever SA Maul and Palpatine and a decent Dooku. And the Anakin set, well that was just awesome as we got first ever SA figs of AOTC AND ROTS Anakin and a first ever SA removable helmet Vader.

But then you look at these new sets and you can tell there was some half assing in order to get us the "ultimate" figures. There's at least one stinker in each set, IMO. For example, I only want the Qui-Gon from the Jedi set, why couldn't we get him in a regular release sometime this year? Oh, right, because Hasbro hates making TPM figures because they bomb at retail (wouldn't happen if they made better choices...). No interest in the EU rainbow Luke or chick Jedi. And the Fett set, we should have gotten that Jango as a single card, perhaps even the Boba (I've been quite happy with the VOTC Fett for 4 years now). That Mandolorian just looks stupid to me. The Sith set flat out sucks (though shirtless Maul is kinda cool) and I'm still on the fence about the TFU set.

I still say Hasbro should have made some better character choices like they did with the upcoming Padme set. Instead of giving us a crappy Mando Warrior we could have gotten an SA AOTC Boba. That would have made it an actual Fett Legacy...

I am SO GLAD this news came out today, as I was literally going to buy the 2003 boxset this coming Sunday (I bought it for my dad in 03 but I don't have my own copy). Looks like I'll be waiting for this one.

I saw the wave with Luke/FemOfficer, Commando/SBD, and Mouse/Basso today. I got Mouse/Basso, I might pick up the Imp. Officer set in the future. Not too hot for the Ozzel body they used for Luke.

The Legacy Collection / Re: SDCC'08 Exclusives Revealed
« on: February 26, 2008, 03:45 PM »
I'm calling it now, the Gree Mighty Mugg will cost $25 (due to the "Special SDCC Packaging") and the Executor Chamber will be $50. Meaning that SWS.com will sell them afterwards for, oh, double the cost.

I don't know, I'm not expecting much from the Chamber. Sounds like it'll be a rehash Vader on a small platform with the OTC Holo Emperor over a flashlight.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What HDTV to buy - LCD, Plasma, DLP
« on: February 24, 2008, 10:09 PM »
I'm starting to look into purchasing an HDTV sometime soon for my room. A 36" or bigger would be my ideal choice but they're way too expensive for me, so I'm looking at the 26" ones. So far I'm leaning towards this since I don't have a DVD player (always used my computer or PS2 for movie viewing).

Does anyone know which stores generally have the best deals or selections on HDTV's?
