Watto's Junk Yard / Beedo Sookcool's 10th Anniversary Giveaway!
« on: September 8, 2007, 03:27 PM »

Greetings, gang!  I sent this press release to all the Star Wars news sites I could find over a week ago (including this one), and so far, only one has actually posted it in its news section.  I fear that all the others had it shunted into their Spam Bins.  So now I'm posting this in the forums to which I belong.  All two of them.  If anyone would like to spread the news of this contest farther afield, to other forums, please be my guest.  Anywho, here's the official bumf:

Amazing!  Astounding!  Adjective!  Beedo Sookcool’s Cool Sci-Fi Page is celebrating its tenth birthday this September!  To mark this special anniversary, Beedo himself is giving away prizes!  For full details on rules and prizes, click on over to Beedo Sookcool’s Cool Sci-Fi Page!

Okay folks, It's August 3rd, which means I technically stopped accepting submissions three days ago. Not that anyone's been sending any in these last few weeks, but whaddyagonnado?

I'm still on vacation, so when I get back to England, I will be picking the two or three best submissions for the custom project and awarding of prizes. Gimme about a week or so, and I'll get back to you regarding who won. As for the prizes themselves, they've been ordered, and should be arriving for distribution in a few weeks.

See you soon!

Thank 'e, mate!  I jumped on board when you guys started up, but that was just for a couple of months.

Between work at the casino, loads of reading to catch up on, and all kinds of side-projects that kept cropping up (ranging from an unwell girlfriend, through writing and customising for a photocomic launch, to preparing for my best friend's wedding this July), I've barely been online anywhere for the past couple of years.

I hope to correct this grievous error soon.  As soon as I get back from Ohio.  In six weeks.   ;D

Customs Community and Group Projects / Re: Have you guys ever...

Rarely.  I remember once, over a decade ago, when I had severe insomnia (76 hours awake in one go), I spent the best part of 26 hours painting Mutant Chronicles miniatures with breaks for only drink, food, and bladder relief.  Physically draining, but I got my Centurions, Necromutants and Undead Legionnaires all done, as well as some I promised to do for a friend of mine.

But as soon as I come back from my holiday in the States, I fully intend to do a couple days' worth of solid customising!

You mean the gauntlets from the deluxe Jango, Brisk?  Nifty idea!  I'm adding that to your entry.

Assassin Gear!  Nice one, VF/501!  You do realise, however, that all suggestions by one person will all be lumped together as one entry, and not considered separately for multiple prizes?  Don't get me wrong, you've got some damn fine ideas (which, currently, are in first place!), but let's give some other people a chance.  ;)

Look forward to seeing youvr version, Brisk!  Keep 'em coming, folks!

Well, Phruby,  I did a trivia contest back in 1998 where participants could win some of my customs purposefully-made as prizes.  New_Bornalex got one of my VTSC Luke forms and tabs for free and Findswoman's getting tabs II - V from that batch, simply because I ordered SIX FULL SETS of VTSC figs online, and have some to spare.  Which is where the prizes are coming from.  I reckoned I'd share my munificence, make it fun, and all would be happy.

Except you, apparently.  Now, what prompted this hostility toward me?

how about this....a neck post swap from the gunner clone with the removable helmet...onto the shadow trooper body....then re-paint the helmet...then sculpt on a datapad holster on one leg and a pistol holster on the other...then take the visor from the normal comander and re-paint that...then put that on the helmet...and hey presto...shadow trooper commander! let me know what you think...im considering making this now

Hmmm.  A total head-swap.  Daring.  Sounds intriguing, for sure.  Not sure if I could pull it off, though.  (For one thing, I don't have any spare Removable-Helmet Clones.)  But it's a darn nifty idea.  If you finish your own version before the contest deadline is up, post it here so we can see what it looks like!

Sounds pretty boring to me. I mean over the last year we have seen hundreds of thousands of clone variations. How about something simular on droids or bounty hunters instead?

I'm going to have to agree with Phruby on this one. Clones have been done to death. I'm sick of them.

This could be cool with some other more creative type of custom.

Because I know what I want to do with all my droids and bounty hunters and suchlike.  I just happen to have a Shadow Trooper I wanted to customise into a commander and thought it might be fun for others to join in, since there are so many possibilities to explore.  And have a chance at a prize while they're at it.  So you're sick of clones.  Then why not avoid this thread?  Why be a spoilsport about it?  Why mar my return to the Fan forums for the first time in something like a frickin' year?

Okay.  So you guys don't want a chance at a George Lucas in Stormtrooper Gear.  No skin off my nose.  And people wonder why I don't come back to the forums often.  ::)

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: ball jointing heads
« on: May 29, 2006, 12:56 PM »
I recommend a small drill to get the hole going, then switch to a small drum-sander rasp for the bulk of the hollowing.  Finish off with the ball-sander rasp if necessary.  That's what I do.

Good, good . . . keep 'em coming!

Spy Gear!  Excellent!

Beedo Sookcool presents: The Create-A-Commander Contest!

The Grand Army of the Republic needs to outfit its Clones for the increasingly dangerous war effort! The Shadow Troopers are preparing to ship out for Utapau, but their Commander needs to gear up adequately, or the mission will fail. Help us customize the Utapau Shadow Trooper Commander into one bad mammajamma!

Click on over to the Create-A-Commander page and scroll down to Part II. Then, start thinking of ways to make the Shadow Trooper Commander even better and find out how to submit your ideas.  (Or, you can just as easily post them here.)

There are prizes to be won. Up to three stonkingly cool ideas can qualify. And let me put it this way: if you're having trouble with, shall we say, certain aspects of the Ultimate Galactic Hunt, entering a really good idea may very well help you bag that most elusive of exclusives . . . . I will say no more on the subject.

Except that you have until 31 July 2006 to submit your ideas for consideration. But the submissions started trickling in within five minutes of the initial announcement, so get cracking!
