Damn! Bill Paxton was at Calgary Expo in 2014 with the cast of Aliens. A very nice & funny guy. He was on Agents of Shield at the time, when I finished my photo-op, he said Thanks for coming & Hail Hydra! RIP Bill Paxton.   :'(

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: A thread about concerts.
« on: February 20, 2017, 02:34 PM »
Starting off my year of concerts, I saw Garth Brooks/Trisha Yearwood this past Saturday night. 9 shows sold out, this was his 3rd showing plus his 1st of a double back to back showing & it was electrifying. From start to finish, 20,000 plus fans standing, dancing & singing & of course drinking.  ;D  I have been to many other concerts over my years but Garth Brooks show has to be the best I have been too. He's funny as hell & where does he get all that energy from.

Still have Queen with Adam Lambert, Guns N' Roses & Roger Waters to see this year...

THE WHY AND HOW OF LANDING ROCKETS

So. Why Did SpaceX Land a Rocket on a Barge?

**** Elon Says - Transcript - SpaceX Press Conference September 29 2013s

Quote
[Question on performance hit for attempting landing the first stage] We effectively lose, in terms of performance... It really depends on what we want to do with the stage if we were to do an ocean landing or a return to launch site landing. If we do an ocean landing, the performance hit is actually quite small at maybe in the order of 15%. If we do a return to launch site landing, it's probably double that, it's more like a 30% hit (i.e., 30% of payload lost).

As far as the safety aspect of the return to launch site of the first stage that's part of why we want to do it first in the ocean just to make sure that things will be fine. For any landing area that we would have, the landing ellipse, the sort of error that the stage could encounter would be an unpopulated region. So we would aim to have a landing site that's unpopulated with a radius of a couple of miles (which can be achieved in Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg).

Finally got this up and running for my son.  I was sorely disappointed to find that he couldn't get the ap for his Kindle.   >:(  We have a shared I-pad for the family that he is using instead, but would be far more convenient to have on his own device.

You're in luck. They are making a Star Wars™ Force Band™ by Sphero
