The Vintage Collection / Re: Vintage Collection Rumors
« on: January 24, 2012, 11:26 PM »
Sick of Marek to be honest.  I don't really mind EU but I really wish they would move past certain characters and produce some others on people's short lists.  Maybe Guri for instance?  Nomi Sunrider? Please not another damn clonetrooper either.  Anyway, love the Nikto!

My kid loves the battle droids and this vehicle.  So, I will be adding it to the collection.  It sounds good to me.  I did not think they were going to give us 20 poseable droids to begin with so that's fine with me.  I look forward to seeing it of course!

The Original Trilogy / Re: R5-D4 doesn't blow
« on: January 15, 2012, 07:05 PM »
We have not seen it but this is what happened.  R2 figures out from talking to other droids that Jawas were going somewhere to sell droids.  So, he used his awesome rockets to fly around the sandcrawler to see what his competition would be.  He saw R5-D4, whipped out his nifty electronics stuff that Anakin installed in him years before, and screwed up all sorts of stuff on R5-D4.  It wasn't just the motivator.  He even unscrewed some bolts and stuff in D4's legs so that they would fall off.  But we never see this since Luke and Owen go nuts about the motivator.  If that had not worked, R2 even had R5's head rigged to spin around uncontrollably and fire off into the air.  R2-D2 was not taking any chances.

TV-9D9 / Re: Upcoming SW Live-Action TV Show Discussion!

I just hope it doesn't turn out to be nothing but graphic murder, soft porn and language fest like so many other pay tv shows are. I want to see good sci fi that is both entertaining and makes you think not something totally depressing or over the top. If they can keep it PG or maybe PG13 I'll be happy.

Boba Fell will get it on with Rystaal (that dancing chick from the Jedi Special Edition) in this adult TV series.  Mark my words!

Ok, here I go.  I really like the vintage collection for the cardbacks.  The figures are amazing sculpts anymore, but the cardbacks are usually great.  I was really looking forward to the Luke Cardback.  I thought for certain they would use that screen capture from the deleted scene as shown in the earlier post.  That would have looked so badass IMO.  Now to see the final cardback image is a huge letdown for me as far as cardbacks go.  To top it off his is the worst of the 5 cardbacks IMO.  Leia's and Lando's are ok but they could have been better.  Cracken and the Pilot's look terrible IMO.  I can't belive they picked that goofy-assed smiling picture for him when they got the Gunner one.  Oh well, he's not a fav character anyway but bleh.  It just looks really lame.

Now for the igures themselves.  I am all in for the Luke, Leia and Lando.  Mainly Luke and Lando.  I am not happy with the cloak they picked for Luke.  Brown?  Really?  Sigh.   I like the figure though.  Cracken and the Pilot I may leave on the pegs.  Not that excited about them.

The Vintage Collection / Re: How Much is Too Much?

The higher prices have shyed me away from buying figures that I don't necessarily want all that badly.  For example, I really want The Deleted Scene Luke, Leia, and Lando.  I would like to get the Mon Calamari Pilot.  I have some interest in Colonel Cracken.  So, if I were to see these 5 figures in the store I'd buy up Luke, Leia, and Lando.  However, more than likely I'll let the other 2 sit there.  I may or may not pick them up later.

Now compare that to when the figures were around $6.50 or less I would buy them all up without hesitation.  Now it's a "What do I really want to get here?"  I may never pick up those other 2 figures because in another wave I may want Maul, Kenobi, Jinn, but I may let the Naboo Royal Guard, Gungan, and Anakin sit.

In the end I may end up buying half of the figures I would have bought if they were cheaper.  This kind of thinking on my part increases each time the prices are uped.  It may come to a point where I have to decide "I'm going to pick up Deleted Scene Luke, but leave Leia and Lando on the pegs."

By that point I am only buying 10% of what is out there where in the past I'd probably by 90-100%.

It'a a fun set for sure.   The $40 at retail was a bit of a stretch but not bad for an exclusive.  At $20 it's definately worth it.  It's a nice center piece for all of your Jabba's Palace goons.  I doubt I will ever be able to swing the entire Sideshow 12 inch set.

Any plans to redo Queen Amidaala's red dress with the lights and super-funky hair-do?  I'd be all about that.  LOL!

I will get Kenobi and Jinn just for the cardbacks.   I like most every figures shown.     Sidious really looks nice.  Kind of surprised how well he turned out.  I am probably looking forward to Maul the most.  There is just something about Maul you know.  Good stuff!

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2011 Hasbro Fans' Choice Poll
« on: October 22, 2011, 04:53 PM »
There are several on here that I don't care if they ever get made or not.  In the end I voted for the grey Death Squad Commander.  Some I just assume they will be made some day.  Some I just don't care if they do get made.  I'm not to sure the DS Cmdr will ever get made.  I can't customize worth a crap and hopefully they would make a new sculpt for him.  I am hoping if he were to be made that he would wind up on a vintage cardback.  I do go for the cardbacks so that was factored into the final vote.  I don't know if whatever figure wins what card it would end up on?  I almost went for Lars, Farr, or Cliegg Lars though.

Is Hasbro afraid to put a split-open belly from animal activists?  That's kind of what this looks like to me. We'll put an open-belly out there.  We won't advertise it that way.  We'll make it look like you can open the belly but never get sued for it.
