Although we certainly didn't have the depth of characters that have been offered in the modern line(s), from the main characters to characters who were on the screen for a blink of an eye, even to concept art characters. However, as a kid and even as an adult, it seems like the vintage line covered the majority of the main characters, supporting cast, and army builders in the entirety of their line. I was just curious, in your opinion, what - if anything - was missing? If you could have picked another wave or two of figures to have been created back then, who was missing? Grand Moff Tarkin seems like a good choice, and possibly others like the Han Stormtrooper, Rebel Fleet Trooper, Slave Leia, and maybe someone like Garindan? Just a few ideas off the top of my head, but what are some you think should have maybe been included?

Stuff I always wanted as a kid:
- Han in Stormtrooper Disguise
- Sandtrooper
- Rebel Fleet Trooper
Those are the only things I ever remember "missing" as a kid.
I had ways to play around them (adding orange construction paper pauldron to a stormtrooper for example), but I'd have totally grabbed them if Kenner had made them...

Great choices Jeff, can't believe I originally forgot to list Han Stormtrooper. That would be a definite, especially with them releasing the Luke version in the POTF line. I thought the Sandtrooper would be a good choice as well, and simple enough to modify a Stormtrooper probably in those days.

The one vintage figure that I always thought was missing was a removable helmet Darth Vader.

Figures I wanted as a kid were:
Rebel Fleet Trooper
Sandtrooper
Yavin Ceremony Luke
As an adult, I could realistically see those 3 figures as well as the following having been made by Kenner at some point:
Grand Moff Tarkin
Han Stormtrooper
Garidan
Alas that didn't happen, though the RFT (http://www.toysrgus.com/index.php?action=disp_item&item_id=48776) and Tarkin (http://www.toysrgus.com/index.php?action=disp_item&item_id=48983) did get considered by Kenner at one point...

I thought they might be kind of cool...not much play value though. Definately Tarkin and Stormie Han.

I seem to recall yearning for the following two characters during my youth:
- Rebel Fleet Trooper
- Garindan
Normal Stormtroopers satisfied me as a kid, but from an adult collector standpoint, I definitely wish Kenner produced a Sandtrooper for the vintage line. As Chris indicated, I don't think Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru would have gone over well due to limited play value.

I didn't have all of the figures when I was kid, maybe 2/3 of them. But that seemed to keep me quite happy. Looking back now, I think a Rebel Fleet Trooper would have made the most sense to see in the vintage line - something for the Stormtroopers to miss while shooting. ;)

As a kid, I too wanted a removable helmet vader. I also wanted the Stormtrooper Han and Luke. I don't ever remember seeing any of the POTF collection until years later in a used toy store. I remember seeing the Stromtrooper Luke and Han in Carbonite and remember that those were figures I wanted years earlier...so I guess they did make some figures that I wanted that I never knew existed.

I think overall Kenner did a fine job. I really have no complaints. Although as mentioned, a Han Stormtrooper would have been bad-ass.
As a kid I remember wanting a Luke Bespin with removable hand (yes, I was morbid like that).

I actually layed asleep at night wishing they made the rebel fleet trooper.

Didn't really want the sandtroopers , just more weapon variety for the regular troopers.
And while not exactly a figure I wanted a bantha

Nice custom Luke there! I think Han Stormtrooper and Cantina Band Member were the two biggies I wanted as a kid. By the time POTF came around I was kind of off my Star Wars kick- would have loved to see some of the POTF figures earlier too!

For OT, I'd honestly take anything they'd make in the old style. ICMG would only be the tip of the iceberg to me, but the must-haves I listed for myself here.

Cool, but I disagree with its line-up. It's too main character happy. Ghosts over Ugnaughts or 2-1B or Imperial Gunner or EV-9D9? Spirit figures are kinda boring, and those can be filled with the "living" counterparts. Why does Dengar rate more than 4-Lom or Zuckuss? Any of the hunters aside from Fett were no more important storywise than Snaggletooth and Hammerhead. (Background characters) Smuggler Lando? He appears onscreen less than say, Bespin escape Leia.
Anyway, adding to vintage Kenner, I limited myself but couldn't keep it at 20 like I intended. I never wanted a Yarna figure as a kid, but she's notable as having made it to prototype (why her of all characters Kenner?) and I still don't care :-\. I'd almost boot Piett, but there was a lack of a grey uniformed officer in the vintage line so might as well get specific. Most named rebel pilots are incidental, especially since Biggs was mostly cut from ANH. A few droids need representation by their model, specifics aren't important. I love Cantina aliens, but most of them are briefly seen fluff...Jabba's goons at least are belligerents. The vintage Ewoks assortment covered the Ewok bases for the most part (except a female and wokling).
