Title: Theory on SA Clonetrooper
Post by: Vator on February 23, 2004, 10:43 PM
Has anyone considered the possiblity, that,Hasbro indeed had advanced knowledge that in Epiosde III the clones would have the same body armour minus the helmet, and therefore started using the SA Clone scuplt to start craking out loads of clones?
No hold on,befour you just pass this off as bunk, hear me out.Is it possible that Hasbro has actually learned that army builders sell well, especially super posable ones?So is it conciveable that they've been producing SA clones enmasse for the release of Episode III?Think about it,if indeed this is the case(as unlikey as it is)then is it possible we could get a plain white basic one on a regular release card, but a possible pack of variation colors for the different theaters of operation?

Ahhh,it's a pipe dream, but how much of a long shot do you think this is?Do you think it's possible that the SA clone has continued production for Episode III clone?

If hasbro has any brains left - they will re-release the SA Clone on whatever the current card at the time is.

Of course, whether they have any brains is the big question.

No doubt they could sell thousands and thousands of these though - I'd buy probably 100 myself.

No way to pass that as bunk. It's a great theory and hopefully that's Hasbro's plan. I'd take silghtly re-decoed or head-swapped E3 clones based on the SAC's body anyday. If we were running the place it certainly would be the plan. Hopefully Hasbro is as forward thinking.

BUT - considering their unique ability to create a great thing (OTC, V/OTC, new packaging, collector oriented releases) and in nearly the same breath piss it down the drain (latest Fan's Choice), I can't wait to see what the fate of the SAC is...

I think the Episode3 Clonetrooper figure will feature a split leg stance with no leg or waist articulation, and a arm slinging action feature that punches its magnetically attached head off. So you can recreate the scene where...well, its really no specific scene, but "kids love the fantastic action features!!!"

Why, you slimy, double-crossing, no-good swindler! You've got a
lot of guts coming saying that, after what you pulled.

There is no way the body armor is going to be the same. If you look inside the new issue of Star Wars Insider you will see that the "new" clone trooper helmet is designed to be 50% Stormtrooper and 50% Clone trooper. The body armor will be the same 50% of each style somehow worked together. But fear not you will see the SA Clone again. I'm guessing Hasbro will release this in one of those 4 pack troop builder sets at some point in the future.

Actually, in the last insider they had full body shots of the new clones and they had the same armor as befour.

I'm sure they'll just swap the head on on the SA Clone for the Episode III version. The armor looks the same to me, based on the Insider pics.

Still, I'd like to have a few more Episode II SA Clones. It should have been this way from day one.

The E III clone trooper is going to hatch in half and fire a patriot missile from the depth of it's loins, like R5-D4.

I think Hasbro's just crammed with less than free-thinkers.  They are only looking towards the classic trilogy push in the fall, and not focusing TOO much on prequals...

Hasbro's not commonly known for doing the obvious...

I do think they'll (hope perhaps is better than "think" on this one) use the SA body and just make new heads for variations of the figures.

E3-Clones...
Clone variants (colors for rank, or theater of operation from E3)
Clone Pilots (just make a new head again
etc...

Sounds like a logical plan to me, as you'd be cutting down your cost of mold tooling greatly.  The thing would barely have cost anything over the long-term use of the molds actually.  Can't argue much with that logic, but Hasbro somehow finds a way around that and increasing their costs.

Case in point, ALLLLLLL the other clones they made that are royal crap, up until the SA clone.  The 3-pack Clones, the Red Clone and his re-used body for variants, the Clone Pilot, the Biker Clone...

Why?  Save some $, do one mold, with possible head variants, and then just pump it out till you break the damn thing and if need be, remold it!  Less cost than all the molds to make all the other figures previously.

Again, Hasbro tends not to think so "obviously".

There should be buttloads of Stormtroopers and Clonetroopers on the pegs at all times.  I think sometimes there really are monkeys working there

That's so obvious as to be, well, obvious.

They are imperials.  Imperials sell well, all the time.

Even the next generation of fans, the kids, like them.  The first item off the peg is always the trooper.  I've seen Vader left behind with the stormtrooper gone with the HOF wave.

Hell, just pack them three per case, every case, no matter what.  Done.

I for one, dig the clone troopers and have collected most of them, except for the SA clone trooper   :'(
But hopefully hasbro will make more clone troopers  :D

It makes so much sense, it's hard to believe it's not a reality.

Are there ANY collectors that don't support this?

This figure is an army builder's dream.

Still awaiting this one it seems...

Hasbro's really missing the boat, but then again they're maybe awaiting a resurgence...  Why I don't know, considering this thing's popularity surpasses the need for movies to keep momentum up for it.

Give me a set of 10, and multiply that by whatever I can afford to buy.

Even 2-packs of a SA Trooper and a Red Battledroid (with good plastic and the poseable legs of maybe the E1 droid) would be welcome to me.  I'd buy those in droves as well, and I'd build BOTH armies at once.  Can't knock that idea much.

I doubt many would complain about getting Clones and Droids to fight them either.

I just want one! Is that TOO MUCH TO ask HASBRO?
