While I do not collect the animated line I may have to pick this dude up. He looks big and somewhat realistic enough. If exclusives are going to be this cool I will have to quote a line from Revenge of the Nerds: "It's going to be a great year!! EeeerRRAAAGHHH, EeeerRRAAAGHHH, EeeerRRAAAGHHH!!!"
-
Wow...Lots of new pics popping up this week. Have no clue who this guy is, but he looks pretty cool. Techno Unionish...Is he supposed to be animated style? Doesn't look that way to me.
-
looked him up on Wookiepedia since I cannot see the pic at work - pretty interesting looking pics of this guy.
Doesn't this, along with Jodo, go against the we are taking a step back EU because collectors don't want EU statement?
-
That's a nice looking figure - interesting that they're making this character, I guess he fits the bill of being "Agressive" enough for kids.
This should have come out at the same time as the game, but whatever. That would have required a well executed marketing plan. ::)
-
Being that he pretty much associated with all the baddies (Ventress, Dooku, Bane) and fought the cores (Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka) in the game, it makes sense for Hasbro to release this. But to me, it's a very unbecoming figure.
So now that K-Mart gets Jodo, Toys R Us gets Kul Teska, and Walmart gets Jabba, what does Target get?? :(

Well, considering how utterly un-helpful most Target employees are, hopefully it's a kick in the crotch! ;D

Had to wait til I got home last night to actually view the pics. Very cool.
I'll be honest: I HATE HATE HATE this trend of them putting non-TCW EU into the TCW line. If they're not in the show, they need to be slotted into another line, IMO.
That said, this is a really cool sculpt and of course I'll be picking him up. I just wish they could have made him as Wat "Don't call me Jeffrey" Tambor instead.

Considering that Star Wars: Republic Heroes is a game that bridges Seasons 1 and Seasons 2 of the Clone Wars series, I really don't think it's that big of a deal for a figure like this to come out.
To me, it's a lot less EU than Jacen Solo with snakes wrapped around himself.

Yeah, that's a good point and one of the reasons I have no qualms about picking this up. This makes more sense to me than Quinlan Vos, for sure.
It does seem to fly in the face of their whole "it's a kid-based line" mentality though...seems like more of a collector-focused figure.

It probably only makes more sense because we don't know what role (if any) Vos has in Season 3. As I recall, Vos was mentioned in the "Jedi Crash" epsiode from the first season so he was bound to turn up in the series (and figure line) sometime.
To me, Kul Teska and the Nikto Guard, both seem to be odd choices for exclusives.
-
Even odder for mainline figures though I suppose... I get the Bounty Hunter theme thing they're going for, and kids dig bounty hunters. But as an exclusive it makes it less kid, more adult I think.
What card it's on is pretty inconsequential to Hasbro I think... I am guessing they're considering the "Dark Rising" storm cardbacks the "main" look of the line considering it will encompass everything from Clone Wars to Legends to vehicles and so on... So I guess they figure it's better to put exclusives in that realm too. Vintage is a less mainstream target for the most part it seems. Or at least much more even than anything else is intended to be.
That's a big character too, so I don't know what he'd be able to fit on too, as cardbacks go, but probably not a vintage one.

In hand pics and review over here. (http://banthaskull.com/forums/showthread.php?p=234204#post234204)

Attention whore.

That is one CW fig I definitely want to get. He's HUGE!
-
Battle Skakoan? I'm on board for that. And holy crap, look at the size of that thing.

I can't help but chortle at the idea of TCW not being considered EU. And trying to partition off anything as "more EU" than a CGI kids' spinoff would have been laughable even two or three years ago.
Not making fun of you, McMetal, just at the way purist definitions of SW have changed so quickly.

It's cool, everything is relative. IMHO, the show isn't any more kid oriented than the prequels really, unless you perceive it so because of the animation, but I'm more from the Japanese school of thought where this is considered a legitimate artistic medium, so that doesn't faze me.
But to stay on topic, philosophical reservations aside, I do love everything I've seen of this figure. It would have been so easy to slap Wat Tambor's name on there too. Ah well, I will of course be buying at least 2 of these, origins be damned. :)
-
Looks like Wat Tambor with on war machine style roids.
I like this "non-CW" series figure and look forward to acquiring one.
-
Definitely in for this. When will we see it and the pirate exclusive?
-
Not at the Cary, NC TRU yet as far as I know.
-
Adam from GH/16bit/EE found this (http://www.galactichunter.com/absolutenm/templates/full_article_template_1.asp?articleid=8956&zoneid=2) today at his local (Phoenix, AZ) TRU - $14.99 ouch :-\

It is a pretty damn big action figure!
-
I would hope that he's a free gift with purchase in the coming weeks or at best $5-$7 cheaper then $15. Err...nevermind - he's a freakish monster in large packaging - thought he was a normal sized figure from the get go, but I guess not.
-
O sweet Jeebus...when it rains, it pours! :o
Looks like I am back to stalking TRU again, this thing looks swell.
-
At $15 I may pass. I like it, would love to have one, but not sure I'll cave for it at that price... Gonna maybe have to see it first in person before I decide now. It's neat, but just not from something I maybe care about that much.
-
Picked up two of these tonight... freaking awesome.
-
Can anyone who finds this, please post the TRU item number?
Used the UPC number from Adam's pictures and I called a TRU to inquire about him.
Got the TRU Item number in case anyone's interested: 492695
-
Thanks Pete, that's helpful for those seeking him out.
-
Yeah, thanks Pete, they do not appear to have him up on their website anywhere yet.
-
My TRU put out a couple cases today of this big lug and they rang up as PROMO $14.99 at the register. No discount for me, but perhaps he will in fact be a gift with purchase in the coming weeks?? Definitely worth the $15 bones, but I'd dig a few more if he's going to be part of a promo.
-
Found one today and despite not really buying CW figures, I picked it up.
-
Picked up a MIB one today, I really think they did a great job with this figure.
I'm really surprised that they churned out a character from the Republic Heroes video game so quickly. It's a fun game, and he's a pretty formidable final "boss", so it's neat that Hasbro zeroed in on making this big guy.
Gonna hold off until the promo starts and see if I can score my opener as a "free gift with purchase"...

Do we know definitively that he will be part of a promo, Pete?
-
starting to sound like it to me. If you like him buy him now and hold on to the receipt. ;D
-
None of the TRU's within 100 miles of here have gotten any of these yet. ???
And the local stores are down to getting only 1 truck a week now on Tuesdays.
I want at least 2 of these MoFo's...BADLY.
-

He rings up as "Promo" at the register, so that was what I was going on to assume that he's part of a promo.
You know what they say about assuming things though....
-
When what I can see this guy is a huge peg warmer. I haven't seen one sell yet at my local TRU. Maybe because he is not near the other figures and no one knows who he is.
-
Yeah, I'm hoping they have a promo coming to move him.

He sold through pretty well at my TRU. 0 left. I still had no idea who he was when I bought him though. duh...
-
He's sorta sitting here too. I think the price is a bit much myself, regardless of the figure's size. Our area though, he's not hard to get ahold of at any TRU I've been to. :-\
-
My TRU is still sold out of this guy since I originally found him back in July. Will he ever be a freebie? Still confused as to why he rang up as PROMO....Hopefully the CW Nikto dude will at least be "free"
-
Both TRU close to my house got in at least 20 each of these back in July, and both sold out within a week. Haven't seen any sign of him since.
-
In case anyone was still holding out on this big guy, Toy R Us has him online for $9.98 as part of a day after Xmas sale...

Damn, they need to take a page from the Deep-Discount practices of Target or Walmart, that's more or less what I paid for my opener a few months ago just using Rewards.
It's a great figure, but they need to get more agressive if they really want to blow these out.
-
There is still a lot of them at my TRU at full price still. I guess they won't price match their online price.
