There are literally thousands of background Pod Race aliens etc I could list...I just didn't. I've have listed most of the major source material aliens/humans and added a few of the more unique ones who's back story was fleshed out by the What's the Story dealio.

There are quite a few figures I would love to see from that list. The only problem I have with Podracer figures is that I buy them but I know their Podracers will never be made by Hasbro. :-\

Actually there's a few here that are worthy. And going with Saga2's Podracer 2-packs (in any variation) because most of the figures are small , I'd go with the following 10:

In general, the Podracers are some of the stupidest creations of the SW Universe. There is absolutely no reason they all need to be these small limbed anatomically weird aliens, especially when they rarely exist before in the OT and don't really appear again after the race. That said, I still want them all. Anakin's friends are also sort of needed to me as they all have speaking lines and represent some of the only children shown in the galaxy (outside of the Padawan Bear Clan). Jira is another speaking line need.
One oddity is the Galla Twins, they almost won the Fan Choice poll (until the cheating was discovered) and haven't ranked high ever since. I still want them and make one and people will buy two (sort of like Pax Bornkik)

You know there was a time when I wanted quite a few figures shown there. But now that all 6 films and the Clone Wars series has come out. I only want a few of them. I would still take the following:
1) Ratts Tyrell
2) Ben Quadrinaros
3) Wald
4) Kitster
5) Twi'lek masseuses
6) Weazel - Just because it's Warwick Davis
7) Kid Greedo - So Annie can bust his chops.
I have to admit that all of those are near the bottom of my list.

I seem to be losing interest in Episode I figures these days. In fact, I don't think I'd be sad if they didn't make any of these, sorry to say.

Um, yes, there was a reason. So they could fly the pods. Just like jockeys are smaller than the average person, these guys were smaller than the average alien. And, the fact that they never show up again just shows how unique the Podrace was.

Mawhonic is the freak tall race car driver, like Justin Wilson who over 6 foot, while someone like Danica is 5'2ish... just guestimating on their heights.

The pilot's abilities, or so I read, were based on speed/dexterity, enhanced reflexes, and other things that alien species had as an advantage... Not really size. Or so was my understanding... Thus Anakin could have grown to be his full height and STILL flown a pod because of his reflexes from the force over his stature.
By that standard, either Mawhonic was abnormally gifted for his species, or his race of Gran is gifted with those attributes, or all Grans are gifted with those attributes and Ree Yees is just stupid. ;) Or he has the force in him too and Qui-Gon is anti-Gran?

BLASPHEMY!!! :o jk, none of these are really at the top of my wishlist either, except R5-X2, Rum Sleg, and the twins.

I'd say as well that nothing on the list is really high on my list either, or even high on my Episode 1 wishlist as I'd like many resculpts and few newer figures. I would take the Hutt, the guards, some humans and things... Not many pod racers I'd want though, including Mawhonic. Just not a group of characters I liked at all. I'm content where we're at personally with them.

I am not a big fan of the podracers either with the exception of maybe Mawhonic. Visually, he's the only podracer that doesn't look like a reject from the Muppets. I think the more interesting characters can be found in Jabba's box. So, here's my short list:
1. Chokk
2. Diva Shaliqua
3. R5-X2 (this seems like a no brainer for Hasbro; just a red and white repaint of the R5 model)
4. Bib Fortuna - the costume is different and he looks younger - it'd be a nice re-sculpt
Heck! This might even be the right opportunity for Gardulla the Hutt a la the Droid Factory. Build a Hutt.
BTW .... I realize this discussion was started before Toyfare. I am not sure which is which but I think Watto might be coming with one of the two R2 units in the list in one of the six Wal-mart two-packs. Who would have thought that'd be the first one to make it on to the shelves from the unproduced TPM characters.
