Don't know about the magnets....

Use Easy Lift Off for getting paint off figures.  It takes Q-tips and elbow grease to get the paint off with ELO.  Wear safety equipment (glasses, mask, rubber gloves), and NEVER soak the figure in it.

This is what happens when you soak a figure in it.  Scroll down a tad to see the pic.

ELO can be found in hobby shops.  I found it at a RC car/airplane shop for around 11 bucks.

The dialogue between your customs always makes me giggle like a schoolgirl.  tee-hee!

I like the scheme on the Commando, very good use of existing lines to give it a new look.  The Kal takes the cake, though.  I always thought he'd be a tad shorter than the commandos, and the head is a great choice.  What head is that?

That gladjumator is awesome.  I never would have thought of using that head for a gladiator, and it is an excellent fit for the look you seem to have been going for.  Great job.

Your boss looks good and your lines are nice and straight.  Only thing that I'd do is add a light coat of a darker white or even light gray.  Maybe just dry-brush it on to give him some contrast.  Other than that he looks very bossy!  Oooh I'll have to be careful, or they'll put me in the Punitentiary!

With creative cutting, you can just modify the existing shoulderpads, thus keeping the articulation.  Here's one I did that with and it looked ok.

More of that one can be found here.

That's one mean-looking medic.  I really like the equipment and the writing, very cool.

I'm in the same boat as you, Ennis.  Then again I'm confused the majority of the time....

Nice redo on that Rykrof, btw.  I like, I like...

Well done Paul, well done.  Not one of my favorite characters, but you nailed it.  You have a knack for painting and accessorizing those microman/lady bodies in a way that helps deemphasize the joints, and I think this one is your best effort yet.

Oooh I love that tank!  It looks like a modified Warthog/Night Rhino, but barely.  Easily one of the coolest troop transport/tanks I've ever seen.  Was it the RC troop transport?  21st Century vehicles are, imo, the best 1:18 military toys ever made, and you turned this into a thing of beauty.

OFF WITH HIS HEAD!  BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!

As long as his body is put to good use, Scorch makes a good organ donor.  What are you going to use for his body armor?  Sculpy?  Styrene?  Both?

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Organizing Your Fodder?
« on: March 16, 2006, 10:08 PM »
I just use a big fish and tackle box for most of my stuff.  It's made by Plano, and is similar to this one.  I found mine at Wal-Mart, and I got a smaller one a while back from Target, so they're everywhere.  The removeable trays are great because you can set the dividers where you want for longer parts.

You probably have a lot more fodder than I, so it might be better to get one of those big red Craftsman tool carts at Sears.   ;D

Sure, show off your fancy camera, Mr. Fancy.......Camera guy.   ;D

I like most of the Jedi and the new "Clone Jedi" looks good.  501st clones look great in the darker blue color you used for them, it makes them look more intimidating.

Aayla's hands and lower legs look too bulky for her otherwise thin frame.  The skirt on her does de-emphasize the knee and calf armor, but to me it still stands out too much.  Her hands look almost bigger than her head.

For the lower legs, the Saga AOTC clone pilot's might look more proportional as they are thinner, but that would require some cutting and drilling, and articulation would require even more work.  The hands could be substituded with ones from just about any Saga AOTC clone, excluding the super articulated.  Again though, more work might be required to connect the two.

Barring that, I would at least sand down the armored legs to make them look more like her legs were underneath that armor.

I like Darth Viscera....is he named that because he likes to disembowel his prey?

The Republic Commandos look good.  I like how Fi isn't purely black.  The added gunmetal? gives just enough contrast.  I'm surprised at how slimming the black armor is on him.  I guess that's why pleasantly plump peeps prefer pitch-black apparel.

I painted them freehand, but mine aren't near as good as Ripley's, which can be found here, at the bottom of the page.

If they replaced your motherboard, they should've given you a CD with it that has drivers and assorted utilities on it.  Since USB has been around for a while now, you don't normally have to install USB drivers to get the ports working right, especially in Win XP.  However, if your motherboard came with a CD, see if it has USB drivers on it.  If so, install those before you take it back.

Good luck, hopefully that'll work.  If not, may the techs that "fixed" it get it right this time.
