The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Target "Darth Maul Returns" Battle Pack
« on: September 4, 2012, 09:27 AM »
So what's the deal, is this thing coming out soon? I gather there have been some kind of developments recently - signage, shelf space clearage, DPCI, etc.

Curious for any details anyone might be able to share...my employer doesn't want me looking at Yakface.com apparently.

Word on the street is that this pack is scheduled to come out in the next couple of weeks.  Here is the text from Yakface:

Yakface reader DarthChuckMc writes in with word that Target stores are prepping for the arrival of the Darth Maul Returns Battle Pack within the next week or so. His local store has already allocated shelf space and placed shelf tags. You can check your local store inventory with DPCI: 087-06-1175

If DarthChuckMc reporting here is the same user as Darth_Chuck over at Rebelscum, then this might be some really reliable news, since Darth_Chuck works as a department manager for Target.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: The Future of the Clone Wars Toy Line?
« on: August 27, 2012, 02:32 PM »
After reading the Q&As from CVI, and listening to Curto's podcast with DePriest, I think I now see what Hasbro is planning for The Clone Wars line.  In essence, they are producing for children (not news to us).  But the reality of this is really setting in for me.  Less articulation makes sturdier toys for little hands; and we are told that kids are really only interested in core characters.  So, The Clone Wars line proper will be a kid's brand.  As a collector, I'd be boneheaded to keep expecting to see collector-favorites from this line, despite how much I would love to see Krell and Di.  Barring some kickass surprises, it's just not going to happen.  I'm going to start looking to the realistic line if I want to see cool characters from this spectacular animated show.

Well, I may just be skipping the carded Phase II Commander Wolf, now.

My thoughts exactly.  There is no need for me to waste my money on the basic-carded version (which I have yet to find at retail) when I can pick this one up later this year.  We're all expecting to this to hit around the holidays, right?

For me, I would really miss not seeing Merumeru, along with some nicely-detailed Wookiee warriors.  I would also like to see an office-duel Palpatine.  Cliegg Lars would also be on that list; and now that Nu is being made, I have hope for Cliegg.  I would also like a 3-pack of Jedi younglings with the same level of articulation that the recent TVC TPM Anakin has.  It's sad to say, but I cannot think of a single character from the OT that I am pining to see.

Ever since Adam at GH started asserting that CW is dying because of the huge drop in ratings, I have tried to actually find the source that proves it.  Yes, the ratings have dropped but not by 25% or anything near that.

As far as I can tell, there is no source.  No offense to Adam, because I love his site, but I think he is prone to exaggeration when he talks about this.  I just roll my eyes when I read it.  There has been a drop in ratings, but is nothing out of the ordinary for a show going into its fifth season.  Here is a breakdown of the ratings over the course of four seasons:

I don't know. An SA Jar Jar could be pretty cool. He is one of the last major characters not to have an SA version.

Never fear!  An SA Jar Jar shall be here by the end of the year.

Have them build a Walmart in NYC.

I just talked to Sam Walton...done, and DONE!

Let me know if you need some assistance.  I'd be glad to pick some up for you, but I only ship loose.  Sorry.

I'll be upset if that's the case since I avoided those so I could get them on the vinty cards since that was my preferred method of getting them.

Well, it looks like it's time for you to go out and pick up those DTF figures.   ;)

Not a purchase, but a sighting: both new tvc battle packs (naboo/bespin) @ Target today. They had 2 of each, but all were in pretty banged up packages. Will be curious to see how quickly these sell through...

I saw these at Target yesterday.  I had to get the Naboo set because of the outstanding facial sculpts for Kenobi and Maul.  But I was unimpressed by the Bespin set, and left it there.

And less articulation than previous versions.

There is an easy way to correct that. Just replace his forearms with those of the 2011 Obi-Wan. Using a hair dryer, I did this last night and the results are phenomenal. Now, Obi-Wan has the wrist articulation that he deserves.  ;)

I have seen that Skrull Soldier six times now at retail; and each time I got there, Hawkeye and Black Widow were already gone.  Kinda wish I could find those two.

What about $16 a piece?

I'll probably still be at it, as long as Hasbro keeps pumping out cool stuff.  For me, any "price point" is kinda arbitrary.  I'll keep going as long as my interest remains high for the toys.  All things being considered equal, their price tag is irrelevant for me.  I'll stop collecting only when I lose interest, not when it exceeds my comfort level in terms of cost (and honestly I have no idea where that would be).

Kithaba is the brown bandana...  Not sure if it matters to anyone.  Evazan is pink scar too.

I found this wave last Sunday at Walmart, but there was no sign of Malgus and the INC.  The Kithaba I got was the red bandana version; and the Evazan had no scar.  Looks like we got the opposite figures, huh?

A price hike will not affect my collecting habits in the slightest.  I have been saying for years that I will keep buying these things, even if they are $15 a piece.  I can't say that I'll be more selective, since I am already at the maximum setting for my selectiveness.

So, not really a problem for me.

I found Obi-Wan (again) and Captain Rex at Walmart this morning.
