Revenge of the Sith / Re: More Jedi Starfighter Rehashes
« on: May 31, 2005, 12:02 PM »
I'm hoping that the Anakin is an error and the only ship coming is a Blue Jedi Starfighter w/Obi-Wan figure similar to the Anakin Green Starfighter.

I really don't need another Green or Yellow starfighter at this point. I can LIVE with the Blue one only because having both a Green and Blue one gives two other Jedi Starfighters of their own - like Saesee Tinn and Shaak Ti (or whomever).

At this point, I'm surprised they aren't jumping on the fact that in the Clone Wars cartoon series, Mace Windu flew a purple one.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Post ROTS-New VOTC
« on: May 31, 2005, 11:58 AM »
I would have preferred that Hasbro expand the quality offered in the VOTC line to the entire line itself.

The Evolutions sets which are essentially 3 VOTC quality figures for $19.99 shows us that they can accomplish great articulation, soft goods and outstanding sculpts at a price-point lower than $10. I really DON'T need vintage repro card-backs - even for my MOC collection. I would rather see them at this point release as 12 figure series dedicated to the PT with cardbacks that mimic the vintage Kenner ones.

I guess when I hear VOTC, I just cringe at the idea of each figure costing my collection $20 (one to open and one MOC) instead of roughly $11 - $12 for two.

Found both Meena Tills and Ask Aak this morning at my local WalMart, there were two of each but only grabbed one - all of the cards were in bad shape (which is probably why I found them) - no Tarkin figures to be found anywhere.  :-[

Will hit some stores on the way home tonight to see if any other stores got them in - also going to check Target for Deluxe Wave 3.

Glad that stuff is still hitting - was actually shocked to see the latest Col 2 Wave this morning!

It is ridiculous how hot the Target Clone was... and it's not even in the movie.  Freaking funny.  I love it.

Anyways, I think the Cancell is cool, glad they had one second of fame in the movie.  They actually looked pretty cool flying around in the intro scene to Kashyyyk.

I can't wait to get some colored Clones that are actually in the film.  But I can wait a while.   :)

 :P

Neyo and one of his grunts (the Target clone) are the two clones riding speeder bikes with Stass Allie - Neyo signals to his grunt, they fall back and then blast poor Stass Allie out of the sky.

What we got as a toy that ISN'T in the movie is the BARC Speeder itself - even Stass Alliee is riding a regular old ROTJ style bike, only it's light gray and white. I'm pretty sure Neyo and his grunt were riding similar bikes.

Two more toys we're getting but aren't in there are the next two Collection 2 Senators - they were cut along with Fang Zar and the others since the two scenes that start the rebellion off were last seen on the cutting room floor.  >:(

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Can Sith Beat Titanic?
« on: May 22, 2005, 02:46 PM »
$303,200,000  Worldwide, looks like he broke even in a day or two :P

This is also why I think Episode VII through IX might eventually happen.  There is far, far too much money there to just walk away from

Agreed - also - since the movie REALLY DOESN'T explain why Anakin's ghost in the ROTJ DVD is now Hayden instead of Sebastian Shaw, I feel that Lucas doing this opens the door to completely disregard ALL EU material and to make EP7 - EP9. And as a result, a key part to those will be that Anakin & Yoda have been appearing to Luke as guides to help him form the new Jedi Order.

Lucas should be getting visits from shrinks and other types of mental health professionals all basically asking him the same thing....

Shrink: "So let's see Mr. Lucas, you have a franchise that for each movie grosses $400+ million, the movies each cost you not even half that much, not a single one of your other movies, unless it had the name Indiana attached to it EVER made any money, and you're giving up Star Wars movies?"

GL: "Yep"

Shrink: "I'm sorry we're going to have to take you to the ward for observation and medication. Get me a straight jacket in here on the double!"

 ;D

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Future Clone Troopers
« on: May 19, 2005, 09:20 AM »
OK, after seeing the movie, I can't really see Hasbro making too many of the different colored Clones. Why? Because outside of 1 or 2, they appear on screen for so short a period of time, it would be pointless. Kinda disappointing, to be honest.

The clones that got the most screen time were: Blue Shocktroopers, Commander Cody's forces and Commander Gree's forces.

So I think when we're getting Commander Baccara who was a "blink and you miss him" commander, I think Cody and Gree are no brainers.

We do need a regular version of the BARC Trooper 'cause that uniform was all over, not just riding in BARC speeders.

My choice was "Excellent, but there's still one better." - IMHO it still does not beat ESB - that movie was great. I definitely think it's better than ANH and ROTJ though. Would have been my #1 if they hadn't cut some things.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Post your ROTS reviews and thoughts!
« on: May 19, 2005, 08:57 AM »
I liked this movie a lot - I would say that it ranks up in the top two of the six movie Saga. In fact, in terms of strengthening EPs 4, 5 & 6 it does that nicely.

The effects were amazing. The acting was a HUGE improvement over either of the previous two prequels. Hayden and Ian both did great jobs. The movie was extremely emotional in the last third so when it was over it what finally sunk in for me was "that's all folks" and I was left with a twinge of sadness felt both for the characters but also the end of the SW movie franchise.

As I drove home, I did start to bemoan the fact that the movie didn't contain so many of the nicer parts of the book and/or comic-book.

While I don't know whether or not some of these issues are addressed in the "longer" digital version, it was a shame to NOT see some things included:

1) Where was Qui-Gon? Lucas couldn't even get Liam to record some new lines?
2) We've been given figures of both Shaak Ti and Bariss Offee - where were they?
3) Even the boy behind me (who seemed to know A LOT about Star Wars, which was cool to hear) - was like "why didn't we see Yoda land on Dagobah?"
4) Where was Mon Monthma? or the rest of the Senators who start the rebellion? Where was Bail's line to Yoda and Obi-Wan that basically says, "do not believe what you hear we say on the senate floor?"
5) Lots of little lines here and there which were in the comic and I presume also in the original screen-play, but not in the final edit. Like when Obi-Wan is saying the last few lines to Anakin and says (in the comic) "I love you....but I will not help you" - to me even having dialogue like that would have made the move all that more powerful.

So like I said, I still think it was a great movie, but for me at least, I had read all of the material and in a way, I had definitely ruined the movie for myself - I envy any of you out there who had stayed away from as many spoilers as possible.

3384
I've bought more than what's below - the numbers just indicate what I'm keeping for myself...

Early Bird Set x3
Holo Yoda x4
Lava Vader x3
C3 Vader x3
Target Clone x6
TRU Anakin Starfighter x2
KB 12" Chewie x1

Before the Kohls sets were announced I had already bought four of the preview Wookie Warrior, six of the Clonetrooper #6, and two each of the AT-RT and the Barc Speeder to open.

So for me, getting the two vehicles AGAIN for $20 each just to have the packaging variation isn't that important to me. If I hear Kohls puts them on sale then I'll check out a few stores in my area and see if I can get them cheaper. I look at it this way - for the same price of getting a THIRD Barc Speeder to open, I could get two more Wookie Warriors and two more SA Clones.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Curse you, Deluxe Wave One!!!
« on: May 13, 2005, 12:48 PM »
This morning I went to one WalMart and one Target - the WalMart still had Yoda on Can-cell and Darth Vader on Operating Table - three of Vader and two of Yoda.

The Target I went into had all four of them (only the Blue version of the Vulture droid).

There are still PLENTY of that crappy "Jedi Jump Kick" Obi-Wan vs. SBD in both stores. The Ani/Vader & Dlx GG are long gone - there's like one or two Palpatine/Sidious deluxes still around but not a lot.

So let's face it - the first wave was "BAD" it just had one MAJORLY bad figure - the Ani/Vader is nice for what it is, but it really isn't necessary since the second wave has the FAR superior Vader on Operating Table.

The Palpatine/Sidious figure has a neat gimmick, but unfortunately no play value and the GG is just a slightly different action feature than the regular GG figure with a cooler looking paint job - HARDLY a deluxe figure - but it does sell, so it's not 100% bad.

I had these eight deluxe figures to choose from for the first wave, I would have cancelled the Quick Change Ani/Vader and Obi-Wan and made the first wave Vader on Op. Table, Jetpack Trooper & GG. The second wave I would have made Palpatine/Sidious, Yoda on Can-cell and Vulture Droid.

My fear now is that since I can go into my local WalMart and see two Yoda on Can-cells (a figure that comes only 1 per case) that means my area has already reached market saturation of the Wave 2 stuff and come release time of Wave 3 - we'll have plenty of Waves 1 and 2 still sitting around collecting serious dust.

Stopped by the Brick, NJ Target this morning. They had a good selection of figures #33 - #44 - picked up second openers of the Nemoidian, Destroyer Droid and Tan Wookie Warrior (#43). I was also able to pick up my third and fourth (last one) of the SA Clonetrooper (#41).

I was also lucky enough to see that they had received the Dark Brown variant Wookie Warrior (#43) so I grabbed two of that version, one to open and one to keep MOC.

By the time I got there (8:30AM) there was only one AT-TE Gunner sitting around so there also was another collector in at the same time as me who hadn't found that figure yet, so I let him have it. I already have four open and on MOC so I really don't need any more.

They also had plenty of AT-RTs - so expect to see that vehicle all over soon, especially since the Wave 2 case is 100% AT-RT.

No Target Exclusive Clones in sight, the pegs had changed from being labelled as "Lava Vader" to "SA Clone" though.

Only hit two stores this morning - the one WalMart I went to was looking even more especially like a bomb had hit it - they were re-doing their action figure section and everything was all over the place.

Found the TRU exclusive Anakin Jedi Starfighter w/Anakin pack-in.

Would have preferred they include an Anakin that could actually SIT in the thing, but the Evolutions set is only a month or two away so that figure will be able to hop ship-to-ship as the pilot I suppose.

Here's hoping that the Obi-Wan Pilot figure has SA and softgoods.

I guess now I'm on break until the Col 2 Wave 4, Unleashed Wave 2, Deluxe Wave 3 all start to show up.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS - #57 and beyond
« on: May 12, 2005, 03:31 PM »
I'm sure that we'll have all 56 figures by the end of July. The known remaining assortments include these figures:

Wave 4 Col 2 - Tarkin, Ask Aak & the Mon Calamari Senator (45 - 47)
Wave 5 Col 1 - R2, Baccara & Mustafar Anakin (48 - 50)
Wave 5 Col 2 - Antilles, Jedi Teen & Utapau Warrior (51 - 53)

So if we start to see the Wave 4, Col 2 figures later this month, and then both of the Wave 5 cases come out in June - then that leaves only 3 figures for July.

We do not know when Hasbro has set the release date of the last Collection 1 set of figures (#54 - #56). Assuming that is Collection 1, Wave 6, why is there no Collection 2, Wave 6 to be shipped with it?

Also - none of the Collection 1 Wave 5 case ratios contain more of the SA Clone #41. So the only thing I can figure that MIGHT thrown a wrench into the release of a new wave each month is if Hasbro plans on shipping the Army Builder assortment (Col 1, Wave 4) for a couple of months - there is supposedly a case ratio for Wave 4 that is simply 3 of each of #41 - #44. Perhaps we'll have to wait for them to ship out the Wave 4 with all of the paint-op variants of the clone before they move on to Wave 5?

If however, we do see "Wave 6" of collection 1 by July, unless they do something else, August - December are going to be pretty dry.

I too hope there are at least three or so more Evolutions assortments coming down the pike - there needs to be AT LEAST one dedciated to PT Obi-Wan, another dedicated to Padme and a third nice one would be Jedi Masters (Qui-Gon, Mace Windu & Ki Adi Mundi).

I don't think it makes you bad.  However, if there is someone in the aisle that only wants one clonetrooper.  You have 25 in your arms it might be nice to spare one of them for the poor person.  You know what I mean?  I mean you have 25.  He has zilch.  LOL!

I agree with this too - and unless it's someone who I know is NOT a SW collector - I'm more than happy to share what I find with the people who walk into a store with me at opening time. There's one guy in the area who gets two of everything - one each for each of his two boys - we're always on the look-out for stuff for him and when we happen to meet up if there's something "good" on the shelves we both want, we happily share it. That's just being polite (IMHO).

Thanks for the clarification Jeff - I had no idea that variation even existed. To be honest, it seems kinda lame if you ask me. Perhaps the emblems on the locks interfered with the whole "Break the Emperors Code" thing and they didn't want people to be confused?

Anway - I'm not going to loose sleep over not having the second version of the "locks" - packaging variations just aren't THAT important to me.
