Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS - Deluxe Figures
« on: May 10, 2005, 10:20 AM »
I really like the Can-cell (it is a little too large for my shelf though  :-\), but the Yoda is really only good for riding the Can-cell or sitting on a chair.  Luckily, I've got plenty of other Yodas, so I'm probably not going to lose any sleep over it...

Exactly - there are plenty of other Yoda figures of varying quality - so having this Yoda figure that sits perfectly on the saddle of the Can-cell is a-ok with me.

Has anyone tried to sit this Yoda in his council chair? Remove the wind-swept cloak and he's ideal for sitting in his council seat.

I have both the Blue Striped and the Greenish-Brown versions.

I've opened one of each and the greenish-brown one doesn't have any detailing for the "eyes" - they aren't red like someone else posted, they are the same color as the body of the fighter. My MOC one is the same way.

Personally I hope that Hasbro decides to make the V-Wing with a pilot.  But I doubt that will happen.

I'm hoping for this as well. They need a vehicle like the V-Wing to refresh the Assault (Mid-size) vehicle assortment - the Plo Koon old-school Jedi Starfighter just doesn't cut it in my book.

I wouldn't mind if they put out a wave that was Obi-Wan's Blue Jedi Starfighter (the one he takes to Utapau) and the V-Wing - one new vehicle, one re-painted vehicle.

I would also prefer that (based on past pack-in figures) that they NOT pack a V-Wing pilot in with the fighter and release him as a SA individually carded figure.

Yesterday my local WalMart got in like five or six cases of the Collection 1, Wave 5 figures (#41 - #44) and they didn't even put them all out. So at least up to 44 shouldn't be a problem.

I'm more worried about ANY waves post May 19th or at the latest, the week after.

That's why I think Hasbro is trying to rush as much to the market as they can - get as much out in the pipeline BEFORE the movie hits so if there isn't a post movie rush on the toys then at least they've sold through to retailers as much as possible (leaving the retailers holding the bag).

Do I win?

You win, Pete.  PM me with your mailing address and I'll get a dollar and a nickel out to you in the next day or so.  And no, I'm not kidding.  I always stand by my word.   :)

You don't have to send me anything, it was fun just putting that together in PhotoShop.

I should have had him saying something like "Best Exclusive EVER or "I'm the COLLECTOR!" or something like that.

I found the greenish-brown variant of the Vulture Droid today - only one though thanks the wonderful case pack assortment.

I already have two of the blue version so there is a very discernable difference between the two. I guess in ROTS there will be Vulture Droids with the new scheme and with the EP1 scheme.

Commanders Gree and Cody are a MUST.

As are the Blue and Red Shocktrooper versions.

Bly isn't really an issue IMHO 'cause he is VERY similar to the yellow clone commander coming in the Evolutions 3-pack.

Where it gets tricky (and less likely we'll see figures) are where the helmets are DRASTICALLY different then the regular grunts. Like Commanders Fox and Neyo. I'm kinda puzzled by the looks of their helments.

I can understand the Jedi allowing the clone commanders to assert their identity, but it just doesn't seem feasible that they would also receive custom helmets. Making colored variants is easy, you can almost imagine them sitting around waiting for action and then each legion painting on their own markings - but a completely differently molded helmet?

Revenge of the Sith / Re: The Mustafar Playset...
« on: May 9, 2005, 03:44 PM »
I like that the Battle Arena bases and the Deluxe Darth Vader operating table clicks in with the playset - however, we all know that the operating table isn't on Mustafar so it's kind of a useless feature.

Actually, no we don't all know that.   ;)  (Us non-spoiler types)

Sorry Jesse - I thought spoilers were okay in this folder. With the comic book and the novel both out for a while now (and the fact that I read both) to me all of the details of the movie seem common place - so much so that on May 19th - for me it's just a chance to enjoy the visuals.

My friend who works for Hasbro says he complained about the Lava Vader case because it was too small and damaged almost every one - and he told his management that if the Target packs were the same (which they are in design) that they should be recalled.

The last time I spoke with him (which was Friday morning) he said that they indeed had been recalled and that if by some error they show up on a shelf, the register is supposed to not let you buy it.

He didn't know if they're going to make new ones and try again or not.

As much as this kills the "thrill of the hunt" (which I can do without on some days) - I really do hope they get their act in gear and this site takes off.

Remember everyone - this site is going to be the EXCLUSIVE place where GI Joe collectors can continue to buy the 4" line after it is cancelled later this year and the Sigma Six crap comes out.

We must remember that at some point in the future, in order to keep the Star Wars line going, they may indeed have to resort to selling stuff exclusively on either this site or shop.starwars.com. Although, if that's the case, I doubt places like Entertainment Earth would stop carrying SW either.

So before you take joy in their troubles, just remember that www.hasbrotoyshop.com may be our ONLY or ONE OF FEW options for new Star Wars in the future.

You know what - even if the difference is that the straight cut sticker was on the versions sold actually at C3 and the flame cut ones were the ones sold at shop.starwars.com - who the heck cares? It's not like the sticker has a solid background so you can noticeably SEE how it was cut - it's flame on clear for cyring out loud!

It's hard to see - but I did remove "Target" from the packaging and replace it with the eBay logo.  ;D Here is a larger version of just the figure:

Wow, you've spent an assload too!

I forgot about the Tri-Fighter and the Battle Arenas... and the damn EE Clones... better add those to my list.   And I just found Mustafar on my lunch break.  :)

 :P

Yeah - I've spent a mega-assload on this stuff!

For me - basically I'm on the look-out for the TRU Green Anakin Starfighter w/figure (which I'll get two of) and I also need to still pick up by XBox copy of the EP3 Video Game - after that, I'll be enjoying the (hopeful) break for a while.

I just got the news that I should be moving in the middle of June - so that will put my toy excursions on hold for at least the last half of that month - so once I get those last two things, I may be putting everything off until July...

Revenge of the Sith / Re: SA E2 Clones in Wal-Mart cases?
« on: May 9, 2005, 01:59 PM »
No sir. Clone number 6 in all of mine at Wal*Mart.

Kevin

Then quite possibly, there is a collector in your area who bought up a bunch of Clone #6, bought a bunch of these carrying cases, took everything home - swapped out the clone packed with the case, reglued, stapled or taped the single figure bubble shut and then returned them.

There is a jerk who does this in my area who has put a wide variety of figures into the left figure slot - everything from battle droids, to the EU cloud car pilot that came with the EU single pod cloud car.

It's not a variation you see, it's product tampering.

EDIT: Sorry - I should have read to the end before responding to Famine, Ruiner already hit the nail on the head here. Someone altered the items at your WalMart.
