Title: Recent Acquisitions
Post by: Roton7 on May 21, 2006, 09:11 PM
I stopped by here to spread my recent acquistion, to find there is no Recent Acquisitions thread. So, I'm starting one!

btw, if there is one, I'd feel like an idiot.

Oh, and my acquistion is the new lego B-Wing Fighter™. It's so cool, and very large!

I found the Sail Barge and Star Destroyer sets this week.  I'm in the middle of putting together the Sail Barge.  While I love Legos, I'm glad these sets are it for the rest of the year after seeing the bill for these two.

The new Slave 1 is awesome!  I finally built mine and it fits nicely on the Cloud City Landing Platform.  Picked up the Sail Barge and Star Destroyer at the LEGO store... wish I'd waited and got em at TRU though- have coupons!

If I have the chance to pick up a 2003 Lego Yoda's Hut w/ X Wing still sealed in the box for $25 I should jump on it, shouldn't I?

I realize this post is a few months old but that set was around $50 originally, so yes!

Ended up ordering the SW Advent calendar tonight from Lego.com.

Bought my first SW LEGO in at least 4-5 years yesterday, the Hoth Imperial/Rebel army builder sets. Bought at TRU to use a coupon so I ended up overpaying for them when it was all said and done but these are cool sets so I'll let it slide.
Title: Re: Recent Acquisitions
Post by: DoctorPadawan on November 11, 2011, 07:56 PM
I'm not going to make an entire list of everything I've gotten recently, but this is just a general post about Lego (SW and otherwise) purchases.  Due to Hasbro's continual botching of the various SW action figure lines (I can't find new figures to save my life, horrible case assortments aren't helping, and I'm just tired of walking out of stores empty-handed), I've been buying a LOT of Lego stuff over the last four months, and I couldn't be happier.

As cool as the vintage and CW SW lines still are to me, I've found it much more fulfilling to buy a Lego set (even the so-called "subpar" sets like the Ewok Tree and V-Wing) and put it together; it's a sense of accomplishment I don't get with Hasbro's stuff.  And I don't have to worry about cherry-picking employees, "scalpers" or any of the secondary market nonsense when it comes to finding something at retail.

The weirdest part is that, because of Hasbro and the horrible retail situation, not only am I buying SW Lego, but other Lego lines as well.  I love the Alien Conquest stuff (I've gotten at least 20 of the little 5 dollar sets and have rebuilt a lot of MOC Alien skiffs and weapons platforms), and I've really gotten into the Creator houses (the Hillside House and Lighthouse sets are great on just about every level).  The minifigure series is nothing but fun, and I'm even at the point where I'm eyeing sets based on parts instead of the set itself.  :)

So I guess Lego owes Hasbro some thanks for increasing their bottom line to an extent, as I've seen several people on here comment in recent months about buying more and more Lego stuff.

Oh, and to make this an official "recent acquisitions" post, I found and bought the Lego Boba Fett alarm clock at Wal-Mart this morning.  First time I'd seen it show up at retail (19.99).  Also bought a City Police Helicopter, just for the heck of it.

Alien conquest rocks.

Also, their medieval stuff?  Best it's been since they first started making horses and grey bricks.  realistic sugarloaf helms, the cool brimmed footsoldier helmets.  Really great stuff there.

Ya LEGO is a fun line.  I stayed away from it from 00-09 but went nuts since then and have probably got 90-100 SW sets.  Not branching out to other lines, but I snagged a UCS Batmobile for like $17 at Target which started all this.  At least the majority of this stuff holds its value or goes up most of the time in case you feel like bailing - unlike Hasbro stuff.

Target has mini Venator ships for $3.99 at register checkouts.  I was lucky enough to find a nice pile for 39 cents a pop earlier this week.  Love those lil mini ships   :)

Anyone seen those LEGO character watches? Found a Boba Fett one today and got it for the figure. Basically paid $16 for the minifig but it saves me from buying another Slave I.

In other news, if anyone is interested in a LEGO Boba Fett wristwatch, I have one available ;)

I received the Falcon set for Christmas this year, really looking forward to putting it together this winter sometime.  Still have the X-Wing set I grabbed at TRU last year too during a sale, so these will be the first larger sets that I've tackled personally.
Title: Re: Recent Acquisitions
Post by: DoctorPadawan on January 13, 2012, 05:50 PM
Been a while since I've logged on here, but over Christmas, the family got me the Republic Frigate for a gift, which is really cool.  I hadn't seen any pictures of the side pods opened up (aside from the ones on the box) so seeing that you can have Yoda and Eeth Koth sit at a table viewing a hologram was pretty fun.  Also, it has a handle built in, which makes carrying it a whole lot easier.

Before Christmas, I also caved in, spent some VIP dollars, and bought the Death Star.  Alongside my vintage Micro Collection Bespin World, this thing is the crown jewel of my Star Wars collection.  It took me around 26 hours over a 5-day-period to build it from bottom to top, but wow, was it worth it.  Probably the most fun I've had with a Star Wars toy ever, and I highly recommend it if you have the cash and the space.  Or, I suppose you could spend that money on five Hasbro figures at this point. :)

I got this Imperial Star Destroyer, Midi Scale, on clearance at Wal-Mart last week and built it Sunday.

Man, this thing rocks socks.  I need to make a tiny Blockade Runner to go with it though! :)
Title: Re: Recent Acquisitions
Post by: Rob on November 29, 2012, 12:52 PM
Since my legos are boxed up, I haven't been collecting for the last three and a half years.  I've missed some great sets, and since we all know what happens when they go out of print, I decided last week to work on getting all caught up right now before the stuff that's available disappears and doubles in price.

So this week, I ordered the TIE Fighter, Ewok Attack, Desert Skiff, Droid Escape, and then went crazy on the UCS B-Wing, UCS Imperial Shuttle, UCS Super Star Destroyer.

Over the next 2 or 3 months I'll be focusing on finding good bargains on the Death Star, Jabba's Palace, the Mon Calmari Cruiser, Endor Bunker, and Hoth playsets... while it's not too late.
Title: Re: Recent Acquisitions
Post by: iFett on November 29, 2012, 01:24 PM
You must be Zod?

All my SW sets are sealed except the Sail Barge, Ep1 Crusier, and some loose boxed stuff I got off a local.  Boxes sure take up quite a bit of room, but that's okay.

I'm teetering on the Imperial Shuttle which is thankfully still on sale but I have like 3-4 Hasbro versions so not really sure I need this one or not even though it's my favorite SW vehicle.   Hmmmmm

SSD went back up but I'm sure it will come back down again.  I really don't like paying more then $200 for a toy though.

Yeah, that's me.  It's an expensive thing for sure... but I have really been regretting getting behind like this, and the longer I wait the more painful it will get.
Title: Re: Recent Acquisitions

Definitely an expensive hobby - let alone trying to go back and hunt down retired sets so I know how you feel.  I didn't get bit by the LEGO bug until about 3-4 years ago, but have been doing okay juggling various toy lines.

I was lucky enough that I started when they started making them... I also got a lot of the kits for free from a friend of mine.  Most of the big UCS ones that I have were birthday or Christmas gifts back in the day... this is the first time that I've shelled out some serious money all at once.

Title: Re: Recent Acquisitions
Post by: Rob on December 5, 2012, 11:27 PM
I did the same thing.  Working to get caught up on three years of Lego in 2 weeks is intimidating, but once I decided that I regretted stopping, it didn't seem to make any sense to wait for stuff to go OOP and end up costing more on eBay.  I've got an A-Wing and a Hoth Echo Base on the way in the mail.  And I'm pretty sure I have a Jabba's Palace (the newer one) on the way for X-mas.  There are still 20 to 25 sets I'm aiming to pick up over the next few months, but I decided to get the heavy stuff out of the way first while the sales were good.

Ha, I'd probably prefer your total spent though.  Although the Death Star was only $140 after I cashed out my Amazon rewards, and the Ewok Attack and Droid Escape were a Buy-one-get-one-half-off deal combined with the Groupon.  The little Endor set was $3 after the Lego rewards... it was a lot, but not as bad as it looks.

Justin, the TIE was $35 at Walmart too - at least it was when I bought it about 10 days ago.  At the time it was $15 or so less than anywhere else, that's why I picked it up when I did.

Nice scores guys! The Death Star I ordered for my son arrived this week.  That is a huge box!  I got mine for just 10% and free shipping (along with a Lego Friends set for my daughter), so free shipping, $40 back from the sale, $20 back in VIP points, $18 back from Discover card (5% on online purchases), and the exclusive holiday ice skatting/carriage set for free.  I'm figuring about $330 plus the extra set.

Sort of.  I did a freelance job that left me with a little bit of an extra pile of money.  I've made back about $200 selling old movies off of the shelf... some of it is a Christmas gift from my wife.  Then I cashed in $200 worth of Amazon points to use on that death star... The tiny Endor kit was $3 after the Lego rewards... I got the Mini's for $7.36 each at TRU... I'm wheeling and dealing a little bit to cover a bunch of this.

They were from Ikea... Billy was the name of the shelving system.  They still make them, but we bought a bunch of this grey color and they used to be shorter - just under 24" wide.  So we had a bunch of those, and eventually out grew them, but now they only sell wider ones (about 32") which we don't think look as good, and they don't come in our shade.  If you find a color you like though, you can buy extra shelves for them and if you add two extra shelves per bookcase, they come out spaced like mine are (which you can see better in the first photo I posted with all the UCS sets).  I'd love to track down a few more of the gray ones in the 23" size, but I don't have any idea where to start.

I have been thinking about getting the TOR sets for a while and I guess seeing the Sith Fury-class Interceptor, Republic Striker-class Starfighter and Republic vs Sith Trooper sets all in one place, I finally pulled the trigger and got them.

I definitely don't want to get into Lego but I like the TOR designs so I'll stick to that as a focus when collecting the sets.

Have there been any other TOR sets or are those three it?

Ok - so I knew this was gonna happen - kinda got the Lego bug now, here's what I've picked up over the past few days....

Battle for Geonosis
Mandalorian Battle Pack
Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship
T-6 Jedi Shuttle
Sith Nightspeeder
Sith Infiltrator
Elite Clone Trooper & Commando Droid Battle Pack
Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack
Droid Escape
Geonosian Canon
TIE Fighter
Anakin's Jedi Interceptor
Desert Skiff
AT-RT

I've also got my eye on the Z-95 Headhunter and I have some Toys R Us rewards bucks that expire this coming Friday - tomorrow I'll hit up Toys R Us and probably spend them on the Palpatine's Arrest set if it's on-sale in the store like it is online.

I'm not going to go back any further than 2011 sets - and even then, I'm only going to pick up 2011/2012 sets at or below MSRP - I have no interest in going to the secondary market for these where they have the tendency to really climb in value. So for now, I'm mainly focusing on getting "caught up" for those years as best I can and then over this year I'll acquire a good number of the 2013 sets. My local WalMart has four or five of the 2011 Millennium Falcon sets on the shelf - I'll probably pull the trigger on that set at some point soon before they disappear.

Hit my local Toys R Us with those Rewards Bucks to burn...

Picked up Palpatine's Arrest AND Hoth Echo Base sets - the Toys R Us website is having a massive Lego sale and even though the sets were ringing up for regular price at customer service, I got them to look up the price on the website and give me the sale price. So they both were $89.99 ($20 off on the Palpatine set, $5 off on the Echo Base Set).

I put them both together tonight - great sets.

Finally got my Star Wars Marvel comic #102 which completes the vintage SW comic run for me.  Should be delivered in a few days.  Finally just broke down and paid about $7 for it.  After losing multiple auctions for it, and just could not find it cheap in the local comic bins either.

That's really about it.  Sngged the 3D TPM wave a few weeks ago at 5 Below for $5.

Bought the little one a DS ObiWa pen stylist thingy, a $1 box ofSW Valentines at 5 Below and some  4 pack Fighter Pods for $3.  Also grabbed the Boba Fett collapsable water bottle at Target in the $1 bin this weekend.

Little stuff...  fun stuff.

My real project this month though has been to go through all the old stuff and rebuild it all, sort out all the missing and substituted parts and organize it into proper sets.  I'll have to get some photos of all that pretty soon...

Turns out I had a nearly complete King's Castle in an old bin of stuff that my Dad bought me when I was about 7.

So I built my own Cloud City this month... here's the results:

Copied my explanation from the otheR Site:

So the biggest difference is that I'm using Light Bluish Gray and Dark Bluish Gray instead of Light and Dark Gray. The little control panel on top of the carbon freeze chamber needed to stay Dark Gray since it doesn't exist in a Bluish form.

I also (as the earlier posts explain) didn't have a good way to make the large round corners that should be light gray. So, mine are made up of a handful of pieces that only came in Dark Bluish Gray (not enough things were available in Light Bluish Gray to do this). They are held together on the bottom by black plates that you can't see and work pretty well.

There are two 2x4 wedges on the end of the little platform where Luke loses his hand that should be Light Bluish Gray but don't come in that color, so I went with Dark Bluish Gray.

Overall, I'm very happy with this given that it was considerably less expensive and looks pretty strong. If I come up with a better way to do light corners at some point in the future, I'll switch to those.

Next step is figures... I'm going to go as cheap as I can... a custom (or older version of Fett)... then I'll populate it with some Stormies, Threepio, R2, grab an extra Lobot, etc... and then I'll tackle the Leia, Luke, Han, and Lando whenever I can find reasonable deals.

Also, it bugs me that the back left corner (near the window) isn't closed in... don't know why they did that, but I might look for some way to connect those two walls at some point.

So, yeah, I'd love to hear comments or ideas or criticisms or whatever. If anyone has any figures that would go well in this thing they want to part with at reasonable prices, let me know. I'm going to start shopping on eBay and Bricklink this afternoon.

My "Lego During the Lull" acquisitions continue...

- All Six of the 2012 Planet/Mini-fig/Mini-ship sets
- Z-95 Headhunter
- Saesee Tiin's Jedi Starfighter
- Gold Leader Y-Wing (2012)
- A-Wing (2013)

Took advantage of the Buy-One-Get-One-50% off at TRU as well as the 2012 planet sets being on sale both at K-Mart and TRU for $7 each...

Almost pulled the trigger on Malevolence/Jabba's Palace during the TRU sale but didn't want to spend that kind of money right now - would rather get multiple sets for that kind of $$$ outlay as opposed to just two big ones...

In addition to those 2 sets, all I need to get "caught up" with the 2012 sets is the Gungan Sub, Advent Calendar and X-Wing - On my my local TRUs has Advent Calendars still - I'll probably grab one there before they all disappear.

Has anyone found the advent calendars for cheap?  I bought the 2011 box last year for $15 and my son used it for Christmas this year.  I was hoping to repeat the pattern, getting them cheap the year before, but I haven't found any place with prices below $30.   :P

Snagged the Series 3 Planet/Mini-Kit/Mini-Fig sets on Thursday, didn't realize they were shipping, but glad to stumble on them while TRU still had their Lego sale going on....

These planet sets have quickly become my new favorite part of my Lego collection... we have a xmas tree we keep set up year-round with Star Wars ornaments on it - my wife even liked the idea of using the planet globes from these sets as ornaments on the tree.

Ack!  Those have already hit?!  We just got our first glimpse of them a couple weeks ago at TF, so I'm surprised to hear they're already in stores.  Remind me, how many are in the new Wave 3?  Just 3 again?

At my local Toys R Us, they still had one sitting around and I had been sent a 20% coupon and I think they had marked it down to $24.99 (unless that was the original price)

Cute set, will definitely think twice before I buy another one at full price. Would be cool if after you're all done, there was a way to take all those pieces and make a mini-ship of the caliber of the planet/ship/mini-fig sets.

Took advantage of some sales both at TRU.com and Walmart.com...

2010 Luke's Landspeeder
2012 Jabba's Palace
2011 Geonosian Starfighter
2011 Ewok Attack
2012 Anakin's Podracer (mini in bag)

If anyone is still looking for Jabba's Palace, WalMart.com has it for $95 - not as good as others found it on in-store clearance of $80, but still much better than the $150 price tag at TRU or $120 price tag at Target. Got it shipped site-to-store so shipping was free.

The 2013 Battle of Hoth Set is currently listed for $49.99 on the Toys R Us website - and they will match that price in-store if you ask. I had $10 is Rewards Bucks - so that brought the set to $39.99 + tax which is a tad bit more reasonable for this set, still a bit high, but it is what it is.

Goes great with the Echo Base set from 2011, also cool that there were spare Hoth Rebel & Imperial Snow Troopers in the 2012 Advent Calendar since they give more places to put troopers in this set than they do troopers.

For the 2013 sets released so far, all I have left to pick up is the Barc Speeder w/Sidecar. Having trouble finding it actually, gonna try a WalMart I don't hit very often sometime this week, hopefully I'll be able to cross that one off my list.

After that, at some point, I'm gonna score the Malevolence - does anyone else have that set? Is it worth getting, it looks big, but it's grossly out of scale with the mini-figs.  All I need to finish the mass-release 2012 sets is that set and the Gungan Sub. The sub is gonna be a really tough sell for me since I have the 1999 version and while they are different, it's not like it's an X-Wing or a TIE Fighter or even a different Jedi's Starfighter in a totally new color-scheme, it's a vehicle that was in one movie for a 10 minute (at most) sequence. Makes you wonder why the Lego folks even took a 2nd stab at it.

Not sure when I'll get to the wall.  I did finish getting all the Mini-figues for it.  I bought customs of Lando, Luke, and Fett - but you can't tell from three feet away so why not save the $300 it would have cost to get real ones?  I'll snap a few more pictures with them in there before I box it up for now.

I stocked up on Legos at TRU...  B1G1 40% off + a $10 off $50 coupon, so I nabbed a number of things I wanted.  2 large Hobbit/LOTR sets and the last 2 planet sets...

Breaking it down, I more or less saved the $10 off $50 coupon I had, but it was the only way I could use it ultimately.  Wish it would've been accepted at Target or Wal-Mart.

Though I DID get the Mirkwood Barrel set which seems to be only at TRU anyway, so win win.

Anyway, the planet sets I got are the Hemeroid Field and the Coruscant set.  Love these as a single sub-line anyone can get into without buying all-in on SW lego due to space and $.  Though every minifigure I see, makes me want to buy whole big assed sets.

Though every minifigure I see, makes me want to buy whole big assed sets.

Tell me about it.

When you contemplate getting a redesign of a vehicle you already have just for a single mini-figure, you know you have a problem. For me it's that damn Gungan Sub - it doesn't even look all that different from the 1999 version, yet it has one thing that the 1999 one didn't - a Queen Amidala mini-fig....  :-\

Ordered the Malevolence (sp?) today from shop.lego.com to qualify for my free Brown Coat Hoth Han Solo.

Also swung by my local Toys R Us to get the Jek 14's mini Stealth Fighter. Never been to an event like that where they just have the parts out and you can build it right there and walk out the door with it. That was pretty cool. I had expected it to just be the kind of thing where they had the set in a polybag for sale for $4.99 or something.

Yeesh. Used some VIP Points on shop.lego.com to snag the Hoth Echo Base for really cheap to qualify for the Han. Then curiosity got the best of me and I went to the LEGO Store across town and snagged the Rancor Pit and a second Skiff (the minifigures from my first have loose legs) to get a second Han. About $120 spent when it was all said and done.

B-Wings were nowhere to be found.

Out of all of the mini-ships I have (both polybag and planet sets) it is the weakest of them all - and I pretty much like the mini-scale stuff. I think what would have made this better was a beefier cockpit/fuselage section, but I'm sure they limit the pieces based on the price point.

Title: Re: Recent Acquisitions

Finishing up what I needed/wanted from 2012...

Gungan Sub (9499)
Polybag STAP w/BattleDroid (30058)
Polybag MTT (30059)
Polybag Shirtless Darth Maul (5000062)
Polybag TC-14 (5000063)

and from 2011...
Polybag AAT (30052)
Polybag Vulture Droid (30055)

and from 2010...
Cad Bane's Speeder (8128)

Now that I'm all caught up with the 2012 sets (I'm not even going to attempt to get those event exclusive sets), I have to decide how much of 2011 and earlier I want to grab or if I just want to move forward from here.

There are a few sets that can still be had for somewhat reasonable prices online from the big box stores - like the 2011 Naboo Fighter and the 2010 ARC-170 are both available from Target.com still.

I would love to have the $$$ to get both the Super Star Destroyer and the Death Star sets, but those are both $400 each. So those will have to just be a pipe dream for the moment.

Finishing up what I don't have from 2011 *should* be fairly doable - with the exception of the Super Star Destroyer, all I need is:
7868 - Mace Windu's Jedi Starfighter
7877 - Naboo Starfighter
7913 - Clone Trooper Battle Pack
7929 - Battle of Naboo
7958 - Advent Calendar (Still in-stock at Entertainment Earth)
7962 - Anakin & Sebulba's Pod Racers (can pick this up off TRU.com)
20019 - Polybag Slave I
20021 - Polybag Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship
30051 - Polybag X-Wing
30054 - Polybag AT-ST

For those last two, I really need to take a good look at pics of them and compare them to the X-Wing and AT-ST planet sets. If the build models are identical, I can skip getting both the polybag versions.

And then from 2010 - there's really only one set I'm really looking to get - and that's the TIE Defender - such a cool design that I'll never get from Hasbro, so I might as well get it from Lego.

I think I'll take the approach I did with the last few eBay auctions I've won, eventually, I'll be able to get these sets for less than their original retail price - it's what happened with the Grievous Starfighter, Cad Bane's Speeder and Imperial V-Wing. But with the 3.75" Black Series hitting soon, and the fact that I still need to get an opener of the Vintage Endor AT-AT, I should probably slow down with the Lego for a bit now...

 :-\

Saw on Lego.com that the Endor Rebels vs Imperials Battle Pack is "retiring soon" so I snagged two more at Wal-Mart. I might snag one or two more if I can find them, but in general they've been kinda sorta hard to find around here. Mainly doing it for the Imperials but there are also more coming in the Ewok Hut set I plan on buying at some point.

Looks like the Mandalorian Speeder (http://www.flickr.com/photos/darthray/9279328428/) with Darth Maul and the Mando Super Commandos is hitting TRU.

At my TRU they had:
Geonosis Duel
Mandalorian Speeder
Tank Droid
Homing Spider Droid
Republic Gunship
Jek-14's Starfighter
AT-TE

They didn't have Jabba's Sail Barge, Jedi Defender Cruiser or HH-87 Starhopper

I passed on all of them since they will be easy to come by at Target and/or WalMart I'm sure and they'll be a few $$ cheaper there too.

If TRU still had their sale going on though - I would have totally bought two of the more expensive sets...
Title: Re: Recent Acquisitions
Post by: Pete_Fett on July 26, 2013, 12:35 PM
My local Toys R Us got in the Jedi Defender Cruiser and Jabba's Sail Barge.

I know TRU's prices run a little higher than other places, but I couldn't pass up on the Jedi Defender Cruiser - I love all the sets from The Old Republic game.

So now, with the exception of the Starhopper, Advent Calendar (too early for that one), and of course the Ewok Village, I've seen all of the back-half of 2013 Lego sets....

I saw the new sets at TRU this weekend as well.  Being a relatively new LEGO collector, I've really been looking forward to the Barge....and was mighty tempted...but didn't really have the extra money and figured I was better off waiting for Target/WM for that one.  Looked cool though.  I only collect the OT stuff, but have to admit that the other new sets looked kind of neat too.

Sets continue to trickle out at places like Kmart and Target around here.

Picked up the Geonosis Hangar/Duel set at my local Kmart last night.

Turns out that the Jedi Defender Cruiser I picked up at Toys R Us was already price-adjusted when I bought it - $89.99 which is the same price as Lego Shop - so my guess is that since they only had one, someone had already come in and bought one and asked them to adjust the price. So I guess I was lucky.

They have the Sail Barge for $139 which is $20 more than Lego Shop - I wonder if I could get them to adjust to the Lego Shop price on that one - out of all these new 2013 set, that's the one I'm most excited about since I only recently got back into getting Star Wars legos and I don't have the earlier release.

Picked up the HH-87 Starhopper on my way home from work - what a fun little set. Joins my Z-95 Headhunter and Umbaran Mobile Canon as some of my favorite sets since they are the ONLY way I'll ever get characters like Pong Krell, Umbaran Soldiers and Raako Hardine in toy form.

I also purchased the AT-TE from Shop.Lego.com using my $10 VIP rewards bucks I had banked so that I could also get the Clone Lieutenant mini-fig. So now I'm just left with needing Jabba's Sail Barge, Republic Gunship, Advent Calendar and Ewok Village (now that the final wave of Planet Sets are cancelled) to be "done" with 2013 sets.

Picked up seven of the new 2014 sets today at my local WalMart

Star Destroyer - Microfighter
Vulture Droid
General Grievous' Wheel Bike
Utapau Troopers
Death Star Troopers
Battle on Saleucami
Droid Gunship

I could have also grabbed the new Red/Gray V-Wing, Anakin's Yellow Jedi Interceptor and the AT-AP, but I wanted to pace myself purchase wise.

I was just super excited to find new Star Wars Lego sets!

I've built the Star Destroyer Microfighter - and while the ship is kinda ridiculous, it was still a fun little set to put together and I didn't mind getting it since the mini-fig was new.

I haven't built any of the other ones yet - but I'm sure I'll have them all done tomorrow - I can't leave a Lego set un-built for long.  ;D

Since they were in the process of the toy aisle reset when I found those sets yesterday, I went back to my local WalMart to see if they put any more stuff out.

I was able to pick up the remaining five Microfighters: Millennium Falcon, X-Wing, TIE Interceptor, Turbo Tank & AAT.

I also grabbed the Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Canon and the Kashyyyk Troopers set.

So I now have 14 of the new 2014 sets.

For the stuff coming out in the 1st half of 2014, I think I just need:

Anakin's Jedi Interceptor
V-Wing Starfighter
AT-AP
Droid Tri-Fighter
Coruscant Police Gunship

Everything else on the list for 2014 is for later this year...

This week - I picked up the following sets:

V-Wing Starfighter (Red/Gray from ROTS)
AT-AP

I have seen Anakin's Jedi Starfighter but I have yet to see the Droid Tri-Fighter and Coruscant Police Gunship.

So far though, the only place that has put out 2014 Lego Sets in my area is WalMart - so my thinking is that one or both of those two sets are going to be "soft" exclusives at either Target or Toys R Us. Toys R Us has been running the Buy-One-Get-One-50%-Off through, I believe yesterday, so my guess is that they have been purposely holding back to the 2014 sets for that sale to be over.

The Old Republic Jedi Defender Cruiser was exclusive in brick-and-mortar to Toys R Us, the Clone Wars BARC Speeder w/Sidecar & Starhopper sets were exclusive to WalMart, and the Umbaran Canon was exclusive to Target - so it's conceivable that those two remaining sets that I haven't seen aren't going to be carried by WalMart and are exclusive to either TRU or Target or both - only time will tell I guess....

Picked up the Coruscant Police Gunship this morning at Toys R Us using the 15% coupon they sent out this week.

Also picked up two of the large Minifigure display cases so I can put all my loose Star Wars mini-figs in SOMETHING that will make it easier to display them.

I also pulled the trigger on the Wave 4 Planet sets via Amazon today - while the order was from three different sellers, because they were all being fulfilled by Amazon, it was only $68 for the set of three - which sucks since they were only supposed to be $10 each, but it's still way under the $80-$90 price tag a set of three has been getting on eBay.

Picked up the Utapau Troopers set for my son this week and we built it last night.  Has anyone else seen the new blasters on these figures?  They have little latches that make the guns fire, similar to some of the ships.  The set comes with a ton of extra light blue "lazers" (clear blue dots) to shoot.  Super cool!  They fly a good 5-6 feet too - way more than I expected.  How does Lego get away with this, but Rocket Fett or hard plastic guns from Hasbro are considered a chocking hazard?
Title: Re: Recent Acquisitions

Hasbro's answer on "soft" guns was always that they had their own level of safety standards.  I always called BS on that though.  Annoying.

I think it's due to size.

Those round clear blue/red studs that the new guns "fire" are very pill-like in that if a child were to swallow one, since it is round and features no sharp corners would cause no harm to the child.

Just a guess...

I'd agree with that, but the little red missile from Rocket Fett isn't much larger if that's the arguement.  I can't see that blocking an airway.  Regardless, the new lego guns are pretty slick.

Fett's rocket was a no-go because he could shoot your eye out. In that light, how are the legos different?
Title: Re: Recent Acquisitions

I think there is some magic choke test that parts need to pass to be acceptable.  It simulates child's windpipe.  The parts either need to be small (pill like) so they can be swallowed, or so big that they can't lodge in your throat very easily.

Hasbro also has its own more stringent safety standards than the minimums set by toy safety...  Or so was the reasoning on soft accessories back in the qna days.  I generally felt it was cheap materials as that excuse varied by the session.

Picked up Anakin's Yellow Jedi Starfighter set yesterday while I was out running errands.

My local Target did finally put out the new 2014 sets yesterday. They didn't have anything I hadn't already seen, but there was a "wish list" type catalog dedicated to Lego in the aisle so I started thumbing through it.

Sure enough - on the page that was labeled as Target exclusives - there was the Droid Tri-Fighter set.

So for the 1st half of 2014, here are the brick-and-mortar retailer exclusives:

Toys R Us - Coruscant Police Gunship
WalMart - Republic Anti-Vehicle Canon
Target - Droid Tri-Fighter

Online you can get them at LegoShop.com and Amazon.com - so I believe the exclusivity is to store-fronts only.

I picked up the Sail Barge and one of the Imperial Guards battle packs today. Sail Barge was on sale for something like 10% off, and though I originally decided to buy the Ewok Village, I ended up going with the cheaper option. Also got the free Revan minifig.

On Saturday, I drove to my nearest Lego Store in the mall and picked up both the Death Star and the Sandcrawler. Snagged two Revan mini-figs thanks to those purchases.

I also hit up the Toys R Us and was able to score the Free Build X-Wing and TIE Fighter mini-ships.

Started putting the Death Star together on Sunday - that has been fun build so far - probably will finish it up during the week and then start on the Sandcrawler over next weekend.

Nice haul there Pete   8)

Thanks!

I am a huge KOTOR fan and I really wanted to pick up an extra of the Darth Revan mini-figure - unfortunately, I am also incredibly impatient - so I already have all of the smaller sets - so my options were limited to the Death Star, Sandcrawler and the Super Star Destroyer. I have been saving up to make the purchases but all I was able to save up was enough for the Sandcrawler and one of the other two - so I went with the Death Star. While I do want to eventually get the Super Star Destroyer - I won't be heartbroken if I never get it.

Nice haul on the big sets Pete.  I was going to skip Revan, but my neighbor's kid came home with the Ewok Village and I couldn't resist.  I grabbed the X-Wing, Kashyyk Clones, and a Fett magnet to hit $75 online.

How did you get the TRU set? I thought that was just for kids?

Anybody have this and put it together?

I've got the Death Star and think its super cool, although spendy.  I've never gotten that excited about the SSD and don't think I would pull the trigger at its current price.

Thoughts?
Title: Re: Recent Acquisitions
Post by: iFett on May 6, 2014, 02:10 PM
^ I was going to build the SSD to leave on my kitchen table when not in use but the Tower Bridge took that spot.  Too long to really have any other room to display it.

Was going to say free shipping + 5% off at Target but already sold out there.  I've been ordering a lot of the larger sets there since I get oodles of giftcards.  I'd make up your mind fairly quickly...
Title: Re: Recent Acquisitions

I was thinking about the SED because of the figures, but display space is at a premium and that thing is huge.  My son has the reg star destroyer, which I think is sufficient.

UGH - great - now I want that one more - although I think the spot in the store where they used to have them was taken up by the Sandcrawler, so I don't know if they moved them into the back or actually sold through them. I'd find it hard to believe that they sold through them, but stranger things have happened I guess...

How did you get the TRU set? I thought that was just for kids?

I walked in, asked if I could build two of each ship - the table was completely void of kids and the girls working the table were sorting the parts into bags so that anyone who walked up could just be handed a bag of parts - they gave me two bags, I made sure no parts were missing and built the two X-Wings and the two TIEs - grabbed a spare set of instructions and walked out.  ;D

At lunch time today I went to the TRU near my work and picked up the Polybag set of Anakin's Green Jedi Starfighter from ROTS - it was the last one they had on the pegs. Built it while I was eating my lunch - great little mini set. Would have made for a nice Galaxy set with "Sith" Anakin and a Mustafar globe....  :-\

I think my next acquisition will be to try to get the Jek Microfighter from last year's SDCC.

Yeah, people have been snagging the SSD everywhere it's sold. It's always been that way with LEGO though. Anytime there are rumors of a set's retirement, people go crazy (see the Jabba's Palace thing last year when stores sold out of the set because of the mosque controversy). Some people have been saving up for the SSD since it came out, and want one before it's gone, while scalpers see the dollar signs.

Yeah - I just called the local Lego store and it turns out they are out of them now as well - I guess folks have been going around snatching them up... Oh well, if I never get that set, I won't be heartbroken... Maybe I'll keep an eye on it on Amazon...

This week's acquisitions:

2013 SDCC Jek-14 Microfighter
TC-4 Minifigure Polybag
Home One Mon Calamari Star Cruiser
2014 Imperial Shuttle Polybag

For the Home One set, I really wasn't setting out to pick that one up off eBay, but I found a seller with multiple of the set for sale, selling it for $20 less than the MSRP - which in the Lego world is a rarity - most times things go up in cost, not down.

Jedi Scout Fighter
The Ghost
The Phantom

I've seen all of the new 2014 sets at my local Toys R Us - but nowhere else. Since I don't have a Lego representation of it yet, I'll probably grab the B-Wing next.

I'm also circling some eBay auctions for the SDCC Ghost Microfighter w/Chopper.

Down to just the AT-AT, Mos Eisley, Star Destroyer and MTT sets from this round of Star Wars Lego...

I'm hoping to be caught up before the Advent Calendar and new Hobbit sets come out.

Pete, if you can, try to hold out another month for those larger sets. Rumor is LEGO Shop is doing a 3x VIP Promotion in the first half of October. I'm planning on getting the Cantina and either the AT-AT or the Star Destroyer then.

I put together the new Snowspeeder the other day, fun little set. Not worth $30 though.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah - I'll definitely wait then - I still have $20 in rewards points sitting too...

Agreed on the Snowspeeder - interesting when I picked it up, it's spot on the shelf was right next to the AT-RT set which has only 57 or so pieces less and sells for $19.99 - so those 57 pieces are worth $10? Seems a bit extreme, at most this set should have been $24.99 or this wave's $19.99 set.

This is what I do with my Amazon rewards... I let them pile up all year then wait for the bigger sets to show up on Amazon Prime so I can skip the tax.

I managed to buy one of the $400 sets, I think it was the Death Star for about $175, and I got the Ewok Village for about $90.  Now I'm saving up points to get a break on the Sandcrawler.

Scratch that, I'm saving my Amazon points for something else...

$165 with tax was too good to pass up.

Yeah, there's a limit though... $2000 per year (after discount), so you can buy $4000 worth of Lego at half off per year.  He said he had plenty that he wouldn't use... I'm hoping he can also hook me up with a Slave I for $100 when that comes out.

When I stopped at a Toys R Us today (looking for the Rebels 3-pack) I struck up a conversation with the employee who rang me up and it turns out he had already set up the bags of parts for this weekend's mini-Ghost build, so he gave me a bag and instruction sheet.

Not an amazing design, but still a neat little attempt to do the Ghost at this micro-mini scale. Also glad I don't have to go during the build hours and jockey for the parts among throngs of screaming kids...

UCS Slave I
AT-DP
TIE Advanced Prototype
Anakin's Custom Jedi Starfighter
Ezra's Speeder Bike
Shadow Troopers
Imperial Troop Transport
All 6 Series 2 Microfighters
Mini AT-DP (polybag)

Tried to find a Toys R Us with the Mini TIE Advanced polybag, but no luck...

Picked up the following sets at my local Target this weekend:

Hailfire Droid
Senate Commando Troopers
Geonosis Troopers

That leaves me with just the Wookie Gunship, Battle Droid Troop Carrier and the TIE Advanced Prototype Polybag for 2015 Star Wars sets released so far.

I was hoping that the UCS TIE Fighter was coming out for May 4th - but it looks like that's not coming until August, so I'm probably going to hold off on the Wookie Gunship so I can have SOMETHING to buy on the 4th so I can secure the free polybagged figure - which is rumored to be Admiral Yularen. The Battle Droid Carrier would also be a great fall-back purchase, I could easily score extras of some of this year's Battle Packs to combine with a purchase of that set to reach $75 to get the free figure as well...

I guess the next Lego sets I'll be picking up will be the Marvel Super Heroes ones for Avengers 2... I'm sure they'll all be out WAY before May 4th.

Picked up the following sets yesterday:

- T-16
- Stormtrooper Dropship
- Royal Guard/DST Battle Pack
- Snowspeeder Microfighter
- AT-AT Microfighter
- Hoth Han minifigure (had a coupon from the LEGO Calendar, any Star Wars purchase at a LEGO Store got him for free; this is the same brown coat one offered during May 4th a few years back)

The Microfighters were particularly frustrating buys because TRU had a BOGO last week but I couldn't find any stores that stocked the AT-AT. In fact, I got one of the last ones at the LEGO Store too. Didn't know that one was so hard to find? ???

Next up for me: Ewok Village during Double VIP Points next month

Next up for me: Ewok Village during Double VIP Points next month

Finally scratched that one off the list this afternoon at the local LEGO Store. Double VIP Points started this weekend and last until the end of the month, and I had $50 built up from previous purchases throughout last year. So I got the set for $200, and got another $20 in VIP rewards that I'll save for either the Slave I or Sandcrawler.

Oh, and if anyone hasn't snagged the Ewok Village yet, the cashier said he had heard rumors of a retirement in the near future...

Picked up the new 2015 sets this week:
Naboo Starfighter
Flash Speeder
Imperial Shuttle Tydirium
Death Star Final Duel
Imperial Assault Carrier

Great collection of sets, the only one I haven't put together yet is the Naboo Fighter. I'm not sure when it comes out but the new Sith Infiltrator looks interesting, not quite sure how it differs from the one we got just a few years ago though.

I'm really looking forward to the Force Awakens sets... I guess they're only 2 months away at this point...

I still need convincing that the first four offer enough "newness" to them over the previous issues of these sets.  Has anyone seen, or done a comparison of old vs. new.  I'd be interested in your thoughts Pete if you have them both handy.

For the Flash Speeder and Naboo Starfighter, the only versions of those that I had were the ones from 1999/2000 - I wasn't collecting Lego Star Wars from 2001 through 2011, so I did not get the Naboo fighter that came with the SOTDS branding.

As far as I'm concerned there are HUGE differences (obviously) between the original releases of these vehicles and these 2015 versions.

For the Shuttle - I didn't have this vehicle at all, so it was a great opportunity to pick it up. I *WISH* I had grabbed the UCS Shuttle back when I saw it at Toys R Us four years ago when I was getting back into Lego.

The Final Duel set is like a bigger version of the section of the Death Star from the Death Star Playset, it's a nice display piece, but kinda dull IMHO, so if you're already on the fence about it, I would pass. The new Darth Vader helmet is kinda cool tho.

Got the Mini-build Dagobah set from 2015 SDCC in the mail and put it together today - cute little set. Goes nicely with the Mini-build Tatooine set. Curious to see when the next set comes out, maybe for NYCC? and what location from ROTJ it will be, maybe Ewok Village?

I picked up Poe's X-Wing on Saturday and the Special Forces TIE Fighter today. Both are great sets and a lot of fun to build. Even though the wings on the TIE use a lot of the same techniques as the ANH TIE from a couple of years back, there are some new bits here and there to keep it interesting. The minifigure selection is great, too, with some good generic background support on both sides.

One thing is for sure: Lego is, as usual, having zero problems getting decent amounts of product into stores.

Grabbed the new TFA Falcon over the weekend from the local LEGO store to rack up some VIP points. Had a great convo with some of the employees about it too. They showed me the display model and talked about how fun it was to build, and actually showed me all of the differences when I said I thought it was the same as the last model from 2011.

Nice! Compared to customer support at, oh I dunno, say Toys R US this past weekend, my best Force Friday interactions were with the folks at my local Lego Store - happy to help, happy to talk Lego, etc... Lego certainly knows what it's doing when it comes to customer service IMHO.

Caved and bought the TRU promotional C-3PO on Amazon for $10. There's a TRU 5 minutes from me that I've checked every day since the promo started 3 weeks ago and of course the store never got it in, nor do they have any clue what I'm talking about when I ask them. Stings paying double the price but I can knock it off my list.

I'm not a Lego collector but kept up with it mostly as a sideshow kind of thing, and I always appreciated the stuff they'd put out anyway.

Well, went into stores this weekend and the shelves were bare...  Bare I tell you!  A mere couple days AFTER the movie opens and less than a week before Christmas, and there wasn't enough product on the shelves.  I shed a tear for that child who wanted Lego Star Wars for Christmas.  But oh no, stupid Legblow pissed away this awesome opportunity, and didn't get toys to the kids who wanted them.  *sigh*

This is just a pathetic way to run a company IMHO.

Hit up my local Lego store yesterday morning. Was pretty disappointed that they didn't have more of the new Star Wars sets. No sign of any OT, PT or Rebels sets - all they had were the buildable figures, the Resistance Transport, Battle or Takodana and the First Order Snowspeeder Microfighter.

Was really hoping to pick up the Carbon Freeze Chamber and new Hoth set.

They seemed more interested in promoting the new Nexo Knights line and the Ghostbusters firehouse, which is neat, but not $350 neat.

They also had the new TFA sets (Takodana, Battle Packs, etc.) with no TRU tax but I passed for now.

Picked up the Carbon Freezing Chamber this morning at a WalMart on my way into work. Also picked up the Resistance X-Wing Micro-fighter the other day at the same WalMart - this is the same store where I found the other sets previously. So far, this is the only WalMart in my area that is leaking new 2016 sets...

On the way home from work, stopped by a Toys R Us and was able to get:
Homing Spider Droid
Rebel Alliance Battle Pack
Galactic Empire Battle Pack
AT-DP Microfighter
Wookiee Gunship Microfighter
Hoth Attack

I think from this round, all I need now is Kanan's Speeder Bike, the Ghost Microfighter and the TIE Advanced Prototype Microfighter

Over the weekend I snagged a Battlefront Empire battle pack and just now I redeemed a year's worth of VIP Points on the Sandcrawler for the x2 VIP points promo.

Getting the Sandcrawler was a hassle though. Went to the LEGO Store after work today, after sitting in an hour of traffic, and I get there and... no Sandcrawler sets. Keep in mind this set has always been in stock for the last 2 years. Whatever, I can order it online... sold out there, too! They're accepting backorders though, so I went ahead and paid for my set.

Now I'm caught up to the first wave of TFA sets from the fall... waiting on a lot of those overpriced sets to go on clearance.

Stopped by the local LEGO Store for the May the 4th deals... to my shock, they had all of the sets included in the sale in stock (the store is small and doesn't have a great track record of having stuff in stock over the last year). I ended up just getting the Battle of Takodana set for $47.99, which is around what the set should cost to begin with. I also grabbed the Resistance Battle Pack for $10.50, which got me the Heavy Armor Stormtrooper promo minifigure. I debated getting the Resistance Transport for $55.99 but didn't want to spend that much cash.

TL;DR - TFA sets are overpriced.

Amen.  In my opinion this may be the most overpriced / lamest set they've produced in years for the Star Wars line.  (I know the new mega Hoth set is giving it a run for its money.)

About the only time I pass on a <$150 set is if its a slightly updated version of a set I already have.  Some have been overpriced and I've eventually gotten most for 30% off when the value gets better, but if this set were marked down 30% I'm still not sure I would pull the trigger.

Ordered the following from Lego Shop since I was out-of-town on vacation, did it during the May the 4th promo weekend so I could get double VIP points:
- Assault on Hoth UCS Set
- Poe Dameron Buildable Figure
- AT-DP Microfighter
- Rebel Alliance Battle Pack
- Galactic Empire Battle Pack

Those last four items were in a 2nd online order so I could get two of the May the 4th Polybag First Order Stormtroopers.

I didn't make it to a Toys R Us on the Saturday the 7th so I picked up the Toys R Us Millennium Falcon mini-build from an online seller.

I also pulled the trigger on the Escape the Space Slug set from an eBay seller.

Lastly, I picked up from a UK seller the April 2016 & May 2016 UK Lego Star Wars magazines so I could keep that collection going...

That's quite a haul. I was honestly surprised to hear the Hoth UCS set did so well in sales, since it has the lowest rating on LEGO Shop's website.

If you don't mind me asking, Pete, how much did the Space Slug set set cost you? I had heard they were going for a few hundred dollars due to the scarcity (and $150 MSRP).

I don't mind you asking at all - I paid $239 in a Buy-it-now from a seller with good reputation. There are some sellers that have it for cheaper Buy-it-now - but their feedback was either non-existent or had some blemishes, so I am okay with paying a bit more.

I am curious as to what the criteria was for getting the invite, not that I feel that I should have been entitled to one or anything, but if there is something I could do, purchasing behavior-wise, to put myself higher up in the running, that would be great to know. For example, when I buy from Lego it is a mix between going to the nearest store and ordering online, was this based purely on frequency of purchasing from my nearest store? If so, maybe I need to make the trek over to that store more often.

I'm not going to open this set, I'm probably going to buy the parts from another seller so I can have the set built and then leave the official set from Lego MIB/unopened. I've done the same thing with some of the other convention/event exclusive sets I've picked up (like Rocket's Warbird and Ultron's Throne). I have a sneaking suspicion that the set will end up being the Star Wars Celebration Europe exclusive as well, but I suppose it's entirely possible that it will be a different set entirely. They seem to be doing this micro-environment scenes lately so now we have one from ANH and two from ESB, I wouldn't be surprised if a ROTJ one isn't around the corner at some point.

Oh nice! Sounds like a good deal. I had read reports that the set was being sold for over $500, and that the minimalist Hoth poster some LEGO Stores gave out (http://www.fbtb.net/2016/04/30/unannounced-freebie-from-todays-may-the-fourth-shopping-trip/) was going for as much as $800! At that point, it would cost less than $50 to just buy the parts online and build the set yourself.

I have no idea, and I don't believe anyone does. All I know is that you have to be a VIP member and rumor is that you have to spend thousands in the actual LEGO Store. Which is possible if your store has a great selection (mine rotates select sets in and out; right now they only have TFA sets in the SW section) or you don't care about discounts (Amazon and Target frequently run sales... LEGO doesn't). They do these special events pretty often too, like at Black Friday (opening up an hour early so VIP invites can have early access to sets) but despite usually making a monthly trek to my store, I've never gotten an invite.

I was thinking I'd just Bricklink myself one for like $20 like I do with most of these exclusives - so if you were planning on opening it, you might consider selling that one and just ordering the parts to save a few hundred dollars.

So, I decided to order the 75094 Shuttle Tydirium set from the May the 4th Lego sale.  It was backlogged, but I still got it for $80 instead of $100 and it included the free FO Stormtrooper.  Box arrived today and I was a little surprised at how big it was.  Popped it open and in addition to the Shuttle and free minibag trooper, Lego sent me a 75092 Naboo Starfighter set!  I did not get the free poster - could they have swapped in a set instead?  It's not on the invoice and I don't see any additional charges...did anyone else order backlogged stuff last week and get something extra in the shipment?  Pretty nice extra $50 set to toss in there...

I used the Toys R Us mobile app - plugged in the Lego set # and it told me they had them in stock at the store nearest to me. When I got there they had none, so I asked and it turned out they were unloading the truck and they were happy to pull one for me - pretty great customer service.

Picked up the Star Scavenger from The Freemaker Adventures tonight since TRU is running the Star Wars Lego sale - it was the only remaining released Star Wars Lego Set I didn't have yet. Bring on the Rogue One stuff at the end of this month I guess - but since Lego is starting the double rewards points in October, I'll probably hold off until Oct 1st and then order all of the new sets. I'm still not sure I want to get the "new" Death Star, it's a bit too much like the 2008 one for my liking...

Target is also running 10% off all Star Wars sets this week, with 20% off select sets. Unfortunately the stock was either picked over or the boxes looked like they had been hit by a train.

Their online stock seems good.  I just placed an order for three sets @20% + 5% and free shipping with the Target Red Card.

I'm looking forward to building the Luggabeast from the Encounter on Jakku set with the kids.

Stopped by the nearest Lego store to my house today - they still had good stock on the new Rogue One sets - so I grabbed all five plus the three new Build-a-Figure sets. Took advantage of the double VIP points in the process, basically, purchased $100 worth of stuff at a time to keep using my VIP rewards. I suppose I could have just made one big purchase and put the rewards towards the Ghostbusters Firehouse, but it mentally felt better to get the discounts near immediately. (I know, I'm weird like that).

Can't wait to start putting these together - think I'm gonna do the TIE Striker first...

More Rollbacks at the local Walmart... nabbed the Carbon Freezing Chamber for $20 ($5 off) yesterday. They had Poe's X-Wing for $68 and Unkar's Junkyard for $48 (tempting but I'm in the process of moving and need to save cash for the time being), and some various Build a Figures for $20 too.

Decided to pull the trigger on the "new" Death Star set while the 2x VIP points is still in effect. Not even sure I'm going to build this one, or if I do, I'll take the original release apart first before building this one. Wonder if it would be worth trying to sell the original set minus the mini-figures.

Saw some deals over the weekend on Amazon for some remaining 2016 sets I hadn't picked up yet, so went ahead and got them.  Picked up Captain Rex's AT-TE, U-Wing Fighter, Krennic's Shuttle, and the Resistance X-Wing.  They were all 18%-25% off retail so I figured it was as good a time as any to buy.

I guess the "new" Star Wars sets are officially released now, although, I saw a box at WalMart that said that the sets shouldn't be put out until March 1st (OOOPS!)

Anyway, I was able to score all four of the new Microfighters (U-Wing, Y-Wing, Krennic's Shuttle & TIE Striker), the Y-Wing, the Rebels Battle Pack, the Empire Battle Pack and Yoda's Jedi Starfighter. I've seen the Scarif, Baze and Chirrut buildable figures - I ended up ordering them from LEGO Shop using some VIP points.

Have seen the A-Wing, Battle on Scarif, Phantom v2 and Theed Duel sets as well. Haven't seen the Skiff or Luke's Landspeeder, although admittedly, I'm not that excited for those, feels like we just got both of them recently.

FINALLY got a decent price on the First Order TIE Fighter on Amazon, thanks to some $8 off $50 promotion they were having today. Came out to around $53 after the discount and taxes.

This finally completes 2015 for me, and now I just need to grab the Resistance X-Wing, Hoth Attack (which seems to have vanished from both retail and online stores), and the UCS Echo Base and I'll be caught up to 2017.

Hoth Attack (which seems to have vanished from both retail and online stores)

Did some digging today and discovered that this set was recently retired, along with a TON of other sets, many of which have been on the shelves for a whopping 6 months. Stuff like the First Order Troop Transport, Resistance Troop Transport, Battlefront Rebel/Imperial Battle Packs, Droid Escape Pod, Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter... and that's just from the Star Wars line! So it appears everything prior to the Rogue One sets (outside of the TFA Falcon, both versions of Poe's X-Wing, and the UCS sets) is on notice.

Anyway, since I can't find Hoth Attack anywhere, I grabbed it on Amazon for $5 over retail.

Post by: JediJman on May 8, 2017, 12:30 PM
Bah, I really wanted that Lego R2, but waited until last night to go after it.  It was sold out online, so we drove up to the MOA store.  Their stock was embarrassing.  Either they got hit hard this year or didn't prepare nearly enough inventory for the May 4th sale.  No Rey's Speeder, X-Wing, Y-Wing, AT-ST, Carbon Freeze Chamber, etc.  They had plenty of the Snowspeeder and it looks amazing, but not really looking to spend $200 right now.  Same story with the Echo Base and Falcon.  So, I ended up buying 4 of the mini-figure sets - 2 different imperial and 2 different rebel sets, some of which were marked down to $10-11.  The total came in at just over $50, so we got it, but $50 worth of minifigs and accessories sure doesn't look like much.   :-\

Walmart near my parents' place had Krennic's Shuttle for $54, so I snagged it following Mother's Day festivities. Not really an amount I wanted to spend on a set I really didn't want, but I couldn't pass up that deal (MSRP is $89.99) plus it has some great minifigs.

Said Walmart also had the TIE Striker for $35 (half off!) but they were sold out.

Only 2 months ago! Being a LEGO collector is really taxing lately, with 3 waves of sets, overpriced sets, and 6 month retirements instead of the usual 2 years.

Thank heavens for Walmart having to match the Amazon sale prices.

Grabbed some polybags at TRU the other day, the Red/Black Poe X-Wing (originally sold at Target but never showed up here) and the First Order Star Destroyer (originally a preorder bonus for LEGO TFA video game at Best Buy and sold on its own for $29.99). They were $3.99 each.

Brickseek said the Walmarts in my area dropped Kylo's Shuttle down to $59, but the stores that it said had stock were all out. Ended up grabbing the Resistance X-Wing (blue/grey) for $59 as an early birthday present to myself. Just need the Kylo Shuttle, U-Wing, and TIE Striker to be "caught up" to 2017

Picked up a few new Summer 2017 Sets at Toys R Us before the long weekend so I'd have some stuff to build also cause I had $15 in Rewards bucks I could use, plus a 20% off coupon that expired on the 29th, anyway, I grabbed:

75166: First Order Transport Speeder Battle Pack
75167: Bounty Hunter Speeder Bike Battle Pack
75178: Jakku Quadjumper
75183: Darth Vader Transformation

I'm going to pace myself with these, but I do want to be "done" with them before the Last Jedi stuff hits in September, probably will pick up the Rathtar one next. I was thinking about picking it up before the weekend, but I also grabbed the Ultimate Batmobile from the Lego Batman Move line and didn't want to go too overboard with the Lego purchases.  :-X

They don't call it "plastic crack" for nothing...

Funny, I almost didn't post on both because I don't really want Reddit figuring out anything about me outside of Reddit. :)

I spent a little under $100 probably?  It was about 7 orders, the most expensive of which was for the Luke and Han.  I probably could have saved money piecing them together or waiting until the hype died down, but here I am.

Someone also asked on Reddit if I was going to do the Space Slug set too, which I'd forgotten about.  So that's up next.

Stopped by the local LEGO Store today and bought the Bounty Hunter battle pack with 4-LOM, IG-88, Dengar and "Boosk" to take advantage of the Double VIP deal going on for July 4th. Swung by the TRU across the highway and was pleased to see the exclusive A-Wing for 20% off, marking it down to about $34, so I grabbed it.

Funny part is I had hoped to grab the A-Wing at the LEGO Store since there's no TRU tax, but they didn't have any of the store exclusives (A-Wing, Skiff and Landspeeder) for sale.

Grabbed the U-Wing at Walmart for $54, finishing off 2016 sets for me. Pretty much every set was on clearance and the shelves were pretty bare. Of note, the Quadjumper was $35 and the Rathtar set was $54 but I couldn't justify spending that much at the moment. Plus they're brand new so I'm hoping to get them cheaper later on down the line. Both Resistance X-Wings were priced at $45 but both were sold out, some of the Build A Figures were under $20, and some other smaller stuff was a few dollars off.

Your mileage may vary but check BrickSeek because WM is starting to clearance sets from every line.

LEGO is plastic so I would assume it would be similar to leaving a Hasbro figure in your car. Fine for a few hours, maybe. I personally wouldn't do it.

Sith Infiltrator Microfighter
Naboo Starfighter Microfighter
Escape Pod vs. Dewback Microfighter 2-pack
Juniors A-Wing
Droid Gunship
Inferno Squad Battlepack
Death Star Escape

Not a bad haul - basically if they had the two other Juniors sets, Praetorian Guards Battle Pack and the new version of the AT-AP, I would have been able to make a clean sweep...

All four are currently available on shop@home, so I might just put an order in on them and throw in that Batman set I was looking for in the first place.  :-\

Grabbed the new X-Wing a few weeks back for $40; it was down to $50 on Amazon for a few days, and then I had a $10 promo credit, so that was more than enough for me to bite. I also grabbed the Naboo Starfighter Microfighter for $7 at Walmart.

Trying to find some bargains on the 20th Anniversary sets, as well as hoping the Snoke's Throne set drops below $40 on Amazon again

And while we're at it, I think I'll exclusively be buying LEGO from Amazon or Walmart from now on. Anyone else seen the details about the revamp to LEGO's VIP program (https://www.fbtb.net/lego/2019/07/12/lego-launches-new-vip-program-and-its-not-great/)? Try having two boys, ages 8 and 5, who are completely LEGO crazy!  We are rapidly approaching peak LEGO in my house.  I wish it was just Star Wars that they like!

I just picked up the new Cloud City finally...

It's $60 off on Amazon (https://amzn.to/304Ahh7) - did you buy it there or is it another case of "Rob buys, then Jeff saves"?

The $60 off Cloud City has been tempting me but I'm hesitant to go beyond the $800 Falcon for LEGO... next thing you know I'd be all-in for ESB LEGO sets and then all downhill from there. #holdthedoor

I've seen that and am holding out hope it goes a little further down to around $250 before I bite.

Nope, that’s the price I bought it at.  I dumped another $80 worth of Amazon rewards in and it was $230 total after tax.

I managed to get my new Falcon for $400 before my buddy stopped working for LEGO, but the ISD is the next thing to tackle.  I’m not keeping duplicated of UCS sets, so I figure I can get a few hundred for the old Star Destroyer to cut into the cost.  I’m at least going to wait until a special lime May 4 next year...

I grabbed most of the 20th Anniversary sets off LEGO Shop for Triple Force Friday in order to get the special 20th Anniversary Endor micro build. They were price matching Amazon's prices, and then the same sets were a few dollars cheaper on Amazon, but oh well. I used some VIP points and wound up saving about $30 when it was all said and done. Just need to grab the Slave I, hopefully on sale, and I'll be done with the 20th line. Going to hold off on the new Rise of Skywalker sets until they hit the regular Walmart/Amazon discounts too.

Might I add that LEGO's new website design and VIP points layout is all HORRENDOUS. Really solidifies my decision to never buy direct from LEGO anymore unless I absolutely have to.

Picked up the Death Star Escape and 20th Anniversary Imperial Dropship yesterday from Walmart, as both are marked as "Retiring Soon" and have been sold out everywhere online since Black Friday. Debating if I want more of those dropships for troop building purposes...

How reliable is LEGO's history on Star Wars details? The ROS Y-wing set with Zorii contains a droid that looks like one of these two in this set, but the box lists a generic name.
https://jedibusiness.com/images/actionFigures/Disney/hires/Droid-Factory-4-Pack-Tros-1.jpg
The ROS visual guide lists these both as counterpart droids in the resistance, which doesn't fit with a droid Zorii had on Kijimi.

Maybe LEGO took a wild stab. Maybe the visual guide messed up. Maybe I'm nerding out too much. Either way... do LEGO sets have a good history of accuracy with star wars characters in their sets?

Now my two latest acquisitions featured Poe Dameron.  They were the Resistance Y-Wing Fighter with Zorii Bliss and Poe Dameron's Rise of Skywalker X-Wing Fighter.  Now of course I needed to buy two extra Lego missile launchers for the X-Wing.

Grabbed the 20th Anniversary Slave I on LEGO's site to get the May 4th promo.

I ordered the 3 helmets, the UCS A-Wing, UCS Star Destroyer, and the 20th Anniversary Slave I.  I sold my old UCS Star Destroyer and a few other things to cover a bunch of it, but I’m done buying LEGO for awhile.

Before coronavirus hit, I acquired the new Kylo Ren shuttle.  I didn't buy the other one but here this one looks awesome.

I got the Darth Vader castle back in April.  It took a couple of weeks, but I put this together with my kid during the peak of quarantine time.  It was a lot of fun working on that project together.

Picked up the UCS AT-AT.  Site went active 5 minutes before the top of the hour, so was able to snag it before it sold out.  Hope everyone else is able to get one!

I’m going to wait until after Christmas.  It’s on the list, but I’m going to throw gift cards and holiday cash at it.

Some of my acquisitions for 2022 are the Dark Trooper Attack Battle Pack with Luke Skywalker, the 2019 Millennium Falcon I found at Barnes & Noble, the Mandalorian's Naboo Starfighter, the Imperial Armored Marauder, The new Delta-7 (Episode 2 style) Jedi Starfighter that has Obi-Wan Kenobi R4-P17 and Taun We, the Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader set based on the third Episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi, the New Lego Clone AT-TE Walker with phase 2 Commander Cody, Boba Fett's Throne Room from The Book Of Boba Fett, and of course, the Inquisitor Transport Scythe with the Grand Inquisitor, the Fifth Brother, also with Reva the Third Sister and Obi-Wan (Ben) Kenobi.  (In my own opinion right now here the Lego Inquisitor Transport is awesome)
