Man, I hate this no news about the next wave. No news is felling like bad news to me.
Anyone have any info or leaks??
-
Naw man, waiting is half the fun. Medicom likes it this way and to be honest so do I. Gives collectors time to catch up.
-
I thought they give out new info in July Aug for the new series and it's Sept already.
Was looking forward to news of a Bespin series, but to tell the truth I'm losing interest with all this hush hush nonsense.
I'm thinking the BAF is going to be the demise of this line, I'd rather just have 9 new figures.
It must be costing them to much to produce and they could just scrap the line instead of going back to the original 6 and chases.
Just a thought...
-
I would take any news about anything at this point....
-
Episode 7 kubs coming 2015?
Anyway now Disney own Star Wars they may not renew the contract with Medicom (Assuming it hasn't already expired).
It looks like they've retired the kubrick line and just moved everything over to bearbrick repaints.
-
i dont know about Disney ending it, they colab frequently with Medicom. I'm hoping for an awesome 2013
-
So, is there any chance that the reason Medicom has not produced more Star Wars Kubes is that the Disney deal was in play and they were either told to wait or wanted to wait to see how things panned out? Probably one has nothing to do with the other, but just curious if someone more in the know thinks there is any link to this. It would be nice if the reason they let the line die off was something like this versus just poor planning or a lack of interest.
-
I don't think there is any chance of that.
Historically, Medicom has been more than secret on upcoming releases other than the reveals at shows (or once in the Insider). Patience Padawans
-
Remember that Medicom hasn't released any new kubricks for months now not just Star Wars. In fact since the Real Steel kubs came out I think it's just been repaints/reissues/carded Star Wars kubs.
-

That's true, though all of the deluxe announcements were many months in advance of the release. If they do have something coming, that means we're still not going to see product until next Summer at the earliest. Blech.
-
I wonder if the tsunami/earthquake that happened last year may have disrupted things some?
-
Everything is made in china so I doubt that.
-
I think the license expired and everything was on hold for the deal. I should think Disney would let Medicom have it's SW license back since they have a license with Disney and the Be@rbrick line anyway.
I'm sure well see more SW than ever before. Seems Disney is after Hasbro too...
I don't collect Hasbro stuff but has anyone seen a drop off in new modern stuff being produced?
I will be sad if it's over, really wanted more ESB figures and a clone wars animated line but nothing we can do but wait and see.
Watch the fakes start pouring into the market now... I'd wouldn't mind seeing a good fake of a ATST driver. 6 for $50 please...

:o ;D

Still nothing? man this is bad... not even a peep?
-
I got tired of waiting, so I figured out how to get a message to Medicom. Will see if they come back with any useful information - I hope the language barrier is not an issue. I got a good chuckle from the auto-reply message:
This time, the customer contact Medicom toys Co. , Ltd. , Thank you for. As shown below, the contact will be accepted. Your reply from the person in charge. Please wait for a while. Indeed, Saturday, Sunday and holidays holidays and holidays we have. Please ask.
-
Here was the reply I received the last time I checked in with their PR guy (Dec-2012).
Dear Jeff,
Thank you for your inquiry and sorry for our belated reply.
We cannot inform you items which we have not announced officially
so please keep an eye on our website which will update new item information.
www.medicomtoy.co.jp
Thanks and best regards,
Let's hope your e-mail gets something more informative from them, Justin. :P
-
I'm in "Please wait for a while." status, but will let you know what I hear. It would be a shame if these were truly done for good. :-\
-
Looks like Kubricks in general may have gone the way of the dodo. On Medicom's site, all you see announced over the last year or so (?) are Be@rbricks, apart from the odd Star Wars con exclusive like the Imperial Guard guy.
-
BREAKING NEWS!
Got my official reply from Medicom today. Not sure how much stock I'd put in this, but it does offer a flicker of hope...
Dear Justin,
Thank you for your inquiry.
We cannot give you specific information
but we do have plans to release the next series of KUBRICK STAR WARS in the future.
best regards,

Awesome!
-
Now you need to ask them to define the word "Future".
-
I am a few waves behind unfortunatley. Alot of this stuff came out when i wasnt working and at the start of my doctoral program. Prices seem way to high to catch up especialy for the chase figures. :'(

You should PM Dan. He was planning to sell a lot of his stuff, though not sure if he will wait longer after this news.

You are mistaken, Justin. Someone shares the same avatar, so yeah confusing. ;)
-
Thats good news. Maybe it was a licensing delay this whole time...?
-
Ooops! Apparently there is another....

Earlier this month I made mention at kubricknation that the Winter Wonder Festival 2013 was set for 10th Feb and no sign of of a carded exclusive.
Each WonderFest (both Summer and Winter) has had a carded exclusive Star Wars kub for the last 3 years but there was nothing this Fest, which has obviously now come and gone.
I did a search around the blogs for photos of Medicom's booth but the best I could come up with was from Medicom's (http://www.medicomtoy.tv/blog/?p=19040) own site:
Not exactly the best pictures but it's my impression there were no kubricks shown. Usually you can capture a glimpse of them (as well as the be@rbricks) in front of or behind the RAH's on their respective blogs and forums.
BBTS (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/list.aspx?list=11843) also has all the WonderFest 2013 exclusives to purchase and only RAH's from Medicom.
-
Not completely on topic, but I just did a search of sold auctions on ebay. Definately some surprises there. Hoth soldier chase can still be had around $150, but the only hammerhead on the list sold for $500 :o. I think they underproduced the last couple of series, but that hasn't caused a corresponding jump in the price of the basic sets from those series.
-
man, so nothing for 2012 and so far the same is true for 2013... sad. I hope we get something by the end of this year.
-
Nothing new today for Kubs http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp
-
dang.... keeping hope alive, maybe we'll get something on the 27th.
-
Another month... no new Kubricks :(
-
An eensy-weensy, teeny-tiny bit of hope for the future...?
I sent out a "what's up with Star Wars Kubricks" email to the Medicom Press/PR rep and got this response:
We are sorry but we cannot give out informations of our future projects.
However, the Star Wars KUBRICK is an ongoing project so we have plans releasing items
I sent back a follow-up to ask whether the 'ongoing project' items were actually NEW or just more old figures on new cards, but I'm not expecting much more than the first line above as a response. :-\

Thanks for asking Jeff, it helps remind them that there are people interested too. I will hope this means something for 2014- hopefully early 2014.
-
We've heard similar from Medicom before. Good that they didn't come back with "the line is dead," but I'm still in "believe it when I see it" mode.
-
Nothing new today
-
Hurry Medicom... tell us something, please.
-
No real surprise but nothing new in this months update.
-
whats it been a year now??? This is getting real old waiting. Starting to lose a little interest. Come on Medicom!!!
-
Kubricks have got to be dead. There hasn't been a new set, Star Wars or otherwise, in ages.
-
i mean isnt it a money maker?? What could possibly be the hold up other than its dead. Everyone works to make money so not sure whats going on here. I agree. its dead.
-
I bet we'll find out something in Feb.
Hang in there guys... if not, i'd gladly like a shot at buying some of your chases ;D
-
I wrote in and asked a bunch of questions yesterday, as I tend to do every 90 days or so. Here is the latest from Medicom, which is the same story they've been shilling for a few years now. The line sure seems dead - I wish they would just confirm it or offer some explanation as to why there's been such a gap.
12/13/2013:
Dear customer,
Thank you for your inquiry.
We have not released a new item but the series is not discontinued.
We are sorry but we cannot disclose any further information.
Thank you for your understanding.
Best regards,

Same story they've stuck with for over a year now...
I'm now working under the assumption that the next series will be an Episode 7 series we'll see in Spring 2016. :-\
-
I want Clone Wars figures dammit! ::) :)
-
I wouldn't sweat it, bet after the Disney purchase they had some input/direction changes. I'm hoping they continue with the vintage line and bet one of the chases will be Jedi Mickey. Hang in there
-
I want Clone Wars figures dammit! ::) :)
Not sure you were serious, but I wouldn't mind a cad bane and ahsoka. :)

I think he was serious - I would love a CW set with something like Ahsoka, Anakin, Cad Bane, Rex, Ventress, and Yularen.
-
Yeah, I definitely want CW figures

Nothing new in the Medicom update today. :-\

I'm thinking they will put out a Rebels line. if not it's dead...
-
I'm thinking they will put out a Rebels line. if not it's dead...
We'll see. They didn't go after a Clone Wars line in six seasons...
-
Not that this is any great surprise but the 2014 Winter Wonder Festival was held in Japan on Sunday and no Kubricks were to be seen let alone Star Wars.
These (http://ameblo.jp/medicomtoyblog/entry-11751494911.html) are Medicom's list of exclusives for the event and yet again no carded exclusive to be found, repaint or otherwise.
Here (http://blog.bearbrickmania.com/2014/02/%E8%A1%8C%E3%81%A3%E3%81%A6%E3%81%8D%E3%81%BE%E3%81%97%E3%81%9F%EF%BC%81%E3%83%AF%E3%83%B3%E3%83%80%E3%83%BC%E3%83%95%E3%82%A7%E3%82%B9%E3%83%86%E3%82%A3%E3%83%90%E3%83%AB-2014-%E5%86%AC.html) are pictures from Medicom's booth from the event provided by be@rbrickmania.
I'd take the demise of SW Kubricks and Kubricks in general with more ease if Medicom just released those Ghostbusters *sigh*
-
Star Wars isn't completely of Medicom's radar though as they are producing the 6" MAFEX line.
-
Such a waste, only needed a Gonk droid to finish the original 21... i had high hopes for the vintage style line.
-
Same story they've stuck with for over a year now...
I'm now working under the assumption that the next series will be an Episode 7 series we'll see in Spring 2016. :-\
i think this is spot on now. fingers crossed
All i want for Christmas is news about a new kubrick series
-
At the very least if there turns out to be no Ep7 Kubricks we can all stop holding our collective breaths for news on any new Kubricks and accept the series as dead.
I'm pulling these figures out of the air but at this stage I'm betting on 60/40 there will be Ep7 Kubs. 60% yes, because they would be mad not to get in on that merchandising bonanza and 40% no, because the last couple of years have shown us Medicom aren't interested in putting out new Kubricks.
-
I WANT CLONE WARS KUBRICKS!!!!
-
I really thought a Clone Wars set was a no-brainer. Ahsoka, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Rex, Cad Bane, Asajj plus some chases. Too bad it never happened. :(
-
It sucks that the later chases prices have stayed high...still need Imperial Officer, Hoth Soldier and Uncle Owen
No way am I paying $600 for this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-Kubrick-DX-4-Hidden-Secret-Imperial-Commander-DX04-Chase-1P-/251745010463?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item3a9d2c031f
-
Much higher and I'll need to consider selling mine. Those prices are insane.
-
Yeah, it really pains me not to have a complete collection anymore... but paying ~$2000 to grab the DX chases just isn't something I can really do. :(
-
Winter Wonder Festival 2015 is next week... no Star Wars exclusives. :(

found a recap of the wonder festival on youtube- Medicom stuff is towards the end. I spotted no SW Kubs... :'(
-
...so with this line seemingly dead (although who knows episode 7 might reinvigorate things...) does anyone know of any good Kubrick customizers??? I'd love to finish out the original vintage line with kubes, especially given how close they came to doing this...
-
i want them to finish the vintage line too but thats still quite a list :o I'm hoping they are reloading for Episode 7!
Leia Bespin

Let me know if I missed something... its an old list of mine
-
I think you've got most of them - maybe a few Ewoks missing in that list? You can cross Hammerhead off the list too - he was one of the DX4 Series chases.
-
first list fixed,
adding
Romba (made as Be@rbrick)
Warok
Teebo (made as Be@rbrick)
Lumat (made as Be@rbrick)
Chief Cherpa (made as Be@rbrick)
-
Man, I know it's not going to happen but I really need some of those The Force Awakens stormtroopers in their various incarnations as kubricks in my life.
-
Guys, I plan to finalize my Kubrick display around June/July, so rest assured that once I have finalized my collection, Medicom will announce something new to make me redo everything. Trust me, we'll have the new ones announced by August. ;)
-
In that case - thank you for taking one for the team, Justin! ;D
-

Lol. We're going to hold you to that. Pics please when you're done.
It does seem that Medicom does still hold Star Wars license as they're still releasing various action figure, haven't seen and be@rbricks in a while though, but I'd be stunned if we saw any more kubricks.
... But to rub salt in to our collective wounds here's what I imagine we'd see if they did a series 11 for The Force Awakens (none of that DX business):
Hypothetical Series 11 - The Force Awakens - December 2015:
Regular Figures
_ Kylo Ren - 1:12
_ New Stormtrooper - 3:12
_ Finn - 3:12
_ Rey - 2:12
_ Poe Dameron - 2:12
_ BB-8 - 1:12
Chase Figures
_ Finn in Stormtrooper Uniform - 2:48
- Found in regular Finn Box
_ Chrometrooper w/ cape - 1:96
- Found in Stormtrooper box. 1 per master case, but only 1/2 of master cases contain him
_ Don't know, maybe whoever Andy Serkis character is or a returning OT cast member like Luke - 1:96
- 1 per master case, but only 1/2 of master cases contain him
-
theres no way that Jedi Mickey won't be a chase. We'll probably even get a 400% version.
-

TFA DX Series 1 I hear you get to build Rey's fudgsicle speeder.
Now give me my Rebels line damn it!
Ezra 2:12
Kanan 3:12
Zeb 2:12
Hera 1:12
Stormtrooper 3:12
Chopper 1:12
Chase Figures
- Inquisitor in Kanan box 2:48
- Stormtrooper Commander in Stormtrooper box 1:96
- Sabine found in Hera boxes in 1/2 of master cases
- Agent Kallus in Chopper boxes in 1/2 of master cases
-
Clone Wars went on for what 5 -6 years and.... yeah, I like your optimism ;)
Also making Sabine a chase - Cruel. What are you, Lego?
Good call on the speeder. I wanted to move away from DX because we get an extra chase instead of just big, expensive half empty boxes but it's all a pipe dream any way.
I didn't realise BB-8 was half the size of R2 (which in kubricks is not very much to scale) so I'm going to move it to an accessory for it's 'owner' sort of like that crappy hovering droid that came with the black pauldron sandtrooper in DX 3.
That opens up a new slot and I'm going to put in old man Han Solo.
Regular Figures
_ Kylo Ren - 1:12
_ New Stormtrooper - 3:12
_ Finn - 3:12
_ Rey - 2:12
_ Poe Dameron - 2:12
_ Old Man Han Solo - 1:12
*BB-8 is an accessory included with one of the above kubricks.
Chase Figures
_ Finn in Stormtrooper Uniform - 2:48
- Found in regular Finn Box
_ Chrometrooper w/ cape - 1:96
- Found in Stormtrooper box. 1 per master case, but only 1/2 of master cases contain him
_ Old Luke - 1:96
- Found in Rey box. 1 per master case, but only 1/2 of master cases contain him
Any suggestions. I prefer making Luke a chase. I feel like Solo has a bigger on screen role in this movie and I have no idea who or what Andy Serkis is playing he could be playing a Gonk Droid.
...In that case yes, make it a Gonk Droid. :D
-
Pipe dreams, my friends. Pipe dreams.
-
the other chase will be a bloodied plane crash Harrison Ford... the force is strong with that one.
-
Or JJ Abrams with Lens Flare action.

Not the same injury but you reminded me of this.

Different type of minifigure than kubricks, but it got a chuckle out of me and is very cleverly done.
