Site Feedback, Suggestions, and Help / Why - JF
« on: May 12, 2003, 05:21 PM »
No, I'm not going to pick on Cory.

at the bottom of the forum where it lists people currently online, Jango Fettish still appears in the same color font as the regular folks.

Is it only the mods (yellow - and there is a joke to be had there) and the admin (red - no messing around here) are in different colors.

Is Cory then staff and not a mod?  Just curious about his status (and being a pain ;D)

Power of the Force 2 / Japanese Green C-3PO
« on: May 8, 2003, 11:50 AM »
Anybody have this guy?  Greenish tint body?

Got mine today.  Happy to have it, but boy, I better be careful to look at the back of the card when I open up my 3POs.  It came in a trade and it was a good deal based on that, otherwise I wouldn't recommend chasing this unless you are a true variant hunter.

Other Collectibles / Pepsi Bottle Caps / Toppers / Figures
« on: May 8, 2003, 11:34 AM »
OK, do you have any clue what I am talking about?  The pepsi caps from Japan with either the figures or head busts on top?

Just wondering if anyone collects these and whether anyone has any spares.  I have maybe 30 or so and I think there are 52(?) in the AOTC set.  I wouldn't mind completing my set at some point and the prices seem to have come down.

I received a Royal Guard and a Plo Kloon today.  They were a throw in with a trade from a friend and it sort of rekindled my interest in them.  I gathered a bunch last summer, put them away and pretty much forgot about them.

My guess is Adam has a complete set, Cory has some (2 ;D), but who else?

Watto's Junk Yard / For you young'uns
« on: May 7, 2003, 04:48 PM »
Being a resident oldie (though not the eldest) this email may not have made it to you youngsters.  I find it entertaining, you may find it boring.

I Can't Believe We Made It!
According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's or even the early 80's, probably shouldn't have survived.

Our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paint.

We had no childproof lids or locks on medicine bottles, doors, or cabinets, and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets.

Not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. Horrors!

We ate cupcakes, bread and butter, and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because ! we were always outside playing.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then rode down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we  were back when the street lights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. No cell phones. Unthinkable!

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, video tape movies, surround sound,  personal cell phones, personal computers, or Internet chat rooms.

We had friends!  We went outside and found them.We played dodge ball, and sometimes, the ball would really hurt.

We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. They were accidents. No one was to blame but us.  Remember accidents?

We had fights and punched each other and got black and blue and learned to get over it.

We made up games with sticks and tennis balls  and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out any eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's home and knocked on the door, or rang the bell or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.

Some students weren't as smart as others, so they failed a grade and  were held back to repeat the same grade.Horrors!

Tests were not adjusted for any reason. Our actions were our own. Consequences were expected.

The idea of  parents bailing us out if we got in trouble in school or broke a law was unheard of.
They actually sided  with the school or the law. Imagine that!

Watto's Junk Yard / I think I need my head examined
« on: May 1, 2003, 01:25 PM »
OK, this is sad.  I was digging around my office, looking for something work related and I became rather appalled at what I have in here as far as toys go.  I receive all my toys at my work address.  For two reasons.  The primary one being that nobody leaves crap on my doorstep to either get rain damaged (as my fan club Wuhers did) or stolen (still knocking on wood).  Here everything is delivered inside and gets signed for by me or someone else.  Good system.

Anyhoo, all of my trade stuff for star wars is here (not listed), aging appropriately as it is stored in a tupperware tub.  But, I have lots of filing cabinets in here and the only reason for most of them (or so it seems) is to store toys.  Yikes!  Below is a list of what is just sitting around my office, MIMP or NM in condition.

Other Toy Lines / Stealth Predator
« on: April 28, 2003, 05:28 PM »
Waay off topic, but for those inclined to McFarlane's Movie Maniacs, the collector club exclusive Stealth version of the Predator is available NOW.  No idea how long it will last, but go today if you want it.  the last club exclusive sold out in about two days or so (deja - toy fair vader-esque).

Pretty cool figure and only $10 plus shipping.  Joining the club is free.  store is found here 8)

Oh yeah, be prepared to be at the computer a long time.  3 hours to get my order in.  Also very reminiscent of the toy fair vader saga.

Conventions / Disney Star Wars Weekends
« on: April 24, 2003, 02:01 PM »
Ok, Disney + Star Wars = StarWars Weekend.

I've read the link.  Has anybody ever attended?  Do the descriptions given adequately describe what happens?

What about merchandise?  It lists pins, medallions, clothing, posters and "other collectibles" or something to that effect.  Just what would fall under that category?

Enlighten me (don't laugh, it is possible) please.

The Bullpen / X-Men
« on: April 22, 2003, 03:58 PM »
Again, if this irritates Matt by placement, all the better.  (I was going to send your cash out today, but feh, later).

Four new x-men figs, articulated in a fashion similar to the Marvel Legends are out at Wally worlds in Canuckada.  Two Wolverines - 1 in uniform, 1 in leather jacket; cyclops and nightcrawler.

Any rarities in this line?  chase pieces, etc.

* Morgbug Morgbug slaps JediMac for his lack of sense of humour

maybe I'll start shipping stuff without bubble wrap, eh Matt?  slap a receipt or two in there as well ::)

Watto's Junk Yard / Have you ever been stalked?
« on: April 3, 2003, 11:48 PM »
Well, have you?

You go somewhere and you always see the same person.  It may or may not be someone you know or are slightly familiar with.  They are ALWAYS there.

I had a girlfriend in high school and after we broke up, including after high school, she was just always where I was.  It was downright spooky.  (FTR she broke up with me).  But highschool was a long time ago.

More recently though, I seem to have found a new "friend".  Where I am, they are never far behind.  Maybe even there before me.  Worse than previously though, I know this person and have had dealings with them.  Now, whatever I do or so, they follow along right behind like a lovesick puppy dog.  It's gone from spooky to downright creepy.  This person has other people watching me, rat's me out when I do something wrong.  I really don't know what to do?  Can you help.

Ah, never mind, I'm just messing with JediMac.  Stay away from those Canadian threads you big weirdo :P ;D
