Hardest Video Games To Beat
« on: February 9, 2004, 11:34 AM »
I could never for the life of me beat Pro Wrestling for Ye Olde Nintendo, I always lost on some lameoid Suplex or Back Breaker.  I tried a year or so ago to even make it to the Great Puma and I couldn't, so sad, so very sad

I've always had trouble with every Mega Man game ever, except for Mega Man X for the SNES, that was pretty simple.

Oh, and Punch Out!- how the heck do you beat Mike Tyson (or Mr. Dream, depending on whicg version you're playing)?! It's impossible, I tells ya! :P

Jango Fett Bounty hunter was pretty hard I suppose, at least the missions without the jetpack were challenging.

If you're talking NES, here's some evil ones:

Deadly Towers
Street Fighter 2010
Silver Surfer

and...

Battletoads

Bastard games, all of 'em!

Right now I am trying (with very little success) to get all platinum medals on Project Gotham 2.

Just can't do it. I've spent WEEKS...and it's not happening.
Once you beat it, you get to unlock this special car you can race on live, and of course it's faster than all the other cars.

Midnight Club 2 was pretty hard, not ridiculously hard but difficult nonetheless. That said it was THE most frustrating game I've ever played. I also think Final Fantasy 10 was quite hard but mostly because it was so unbearably bad that it took all I had just to keep playing it

Pitfall...

I swear to God, that damn game had no ending.  Everyone said they "knew" someone who beat it.  Nobody ever beat it.  It never ends...  It just goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on...  Jumping scorpions, climbing up and down ****, swinging on vines, jumping on alligators...

It's neverending.  I always wanted to see what the hell he was running around doing.  What the purpose was that Harry was loose in this jungle.

For me I'm having problems doing a mission in GTA Vice City.  Mostly becuase of me having to use my keyboard and it seems like it me be easier with a game pad.
Some other games that I found hard are:
GTA:3
Jedi Knight Jedi Outcast (But I did eventually Finish it)

Most Atari 2600 games didn't have an ending, in fact the only games I've ever beaten on the 2600 were Vanguard and Jungle Hunt. And even though they had a last level, they never really end, the game just starts over with the levels just being harder the 2nd time around. I never heard about an ending for Pitfall, but I had people swear to me that the Empire Strikes Back game had an ending. For years I would try to reach it, but couldn't do it. I was bummed out to find that there never was an ending. Another 2600 game though that I believe had an ending was Raiders of the Lost Ark, I could just never reach it, such a difficult bugger.

What about the aforementioned ET...FYI Atari really did landfill millions of unsold cartridges in the mid 1980's, tak about over estimating your market.  In fact I think I read they had made more cartridges of certain games than there were game systems sold.

I have to agree with this.  I spent a lot of time playing Pitfall in my younger days, and it seemed like it never ended, just kept repeating stuff over and over...adding in some scorpions here, chomping alligators there, and every so often a gold bar or money bag.  I found an online version awhile back that I played a few times that just reminded me of that fact....it doesn't end :).
