Title: Diecast: Dinky-Matchbox-Hot Wheels
Post by: DSJ™ on July 21, 2003, 11:00 AM
So who collects diecast vehicles?

I have a small collection of diecast myself. I just took a quick snap shot of some of them & stiched the pic's together.

I have more but they are in storage. Man I need a house.  ;D

So lets here from ya.    Whatcha got to share?   :)

I own John Andretti's 1/24th scale Attack of the Clones Nascar car and the three 1/64th Star Wars that were mail in cereal premiums around the releast of AOTC last year.  Even with my love of all things Star Wars, I refuse to buy Jeff Gordon's TPM car because the guy's a tool.

At work, we have 1/64th Nascar cars of almost all the drivers.  Granted a few sponsors and / or numbers are outdated, but the concept is there.  We line up the cars in the order they've finished for that week's race.

Yet another thing I have to get rid of.  I have about 30 vintage redline hotwheels in excellent condition.  Probably another 50 or so Matchbox items as well.  All need to go up on ebay.  Don't collect these, but there are some pretty nice items out there.

I just received this new die cast Space 1999 Eagle. This thing is huge!  :o

Compared to the old one, both pictured on top, this Eagle is 12" long which puts it at the same size as the model kits that came out & has incredible detail.  8)

There is more to come in this series. UFO Interceptor & UFO Saucer, Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray & Skydiver are on tap so far. Could give Code 3 a run for there money at $79.99!  ;)

Took a step down a very, very dark path today.

Just for laughs, I check the hot wheels when I'm in the toy sections of stores (hey, they take my sportspicks :P).  I've only ever found one treasure hunt, but you never know.

Well, in the past couple of days, I've bought four hot wheels.  No TH in the bunch, but three batmobiles and a Cereal Cruncher.  What is a Cereal Cruncher?  Well, there are five currently released cars that have cereal logos on them.  I had seen the Cheerios version and another (can't remember) and thought they looked pretty cool.  But today I found out that one of the cars is a Frankenberry car :o  Sweet!  Yup, I bought it.  $1.30 and I am the proud owner of my fourth current hot wheel.

Should I be afraid?

Fool. :D

Which one did you get, there are three currently released.  #1, #31, #42.  I'll happily contribute to the addiction, I have a spare #1 I could send for his birthday or something.  Maybe a baby gift for junior?

There's a fourth batmobile :o  Just found it today, much to my surprise.  Pretty goofy looking, but it goes well with the others.

Also snagged my second treasure hunt.  No idea which one it is, but it was sitting on the front peg, so what the heck.  If only to spite hot wheels collectors :D  It's the second I found, but third I own.  A guy sent me one with a McFarlane trade.  LOL.

That figure is pretty neat. The Japanese make some cool stuff!  8)

I received my Comic-Con Chrome Space 1999 Eagle from Matt the other day. That make 3 large diecast Eagles that I have now. I think I'll stop with the Eagles now & just buy the Pod conversion kits from Comet Miniatures. Now to work on the other Gerry Anderson diecasts from Product Enterprise.  8)

I'm not into Hot Wheels or cars at all, but I've wanted an authentic CAT dump truck for some time. I just have a thing for the giant dump truck. ;D Finally found a beauty online at www.diecastdirect.com . Got it in the mail today. Here's an eBay photo of the exact model.

It's 1:64 and a freakin' monster truck next to a 1:64 car. :D

Actually, I bougt one those recent Corgi Batmobiles at Walmart, too. The ones in the box, what were they 1:32, 1:18? I have a few Star Wars cast vehicles: Some of the MicroMachines and the Droids Parade Vehicle (http://www.rebelscum.com/disneyparadevehicle.asp). LOL

That Japanese robot on page 1 is cool. I still have my 5" Dragun Shogun Warrior.

They have arrived.

Captain Zantor, Mysterious Alien, Paul Morrow and Alan Carter.

I do not have any of the original Palitoy figures but they do look pretty close to them. The card backs are very strong and are done in the same way front and back as with the bubbles. These bubbles are very thin and tight on the figures and a figure can easily pop through as did happen with my Alan Carter on the top.  :-\

Still very happy to get these and I will definitely be getting the rest of the series.  8)

Thanks for the update. From reading other buyers reactions, it appears some CTVT figures have some quality issues (though apparently they are improving) compared to the originals. I took a gander at the mad monsters at the comic shop, and they looked awful… but the happy days were o.k. so that’s why I was wondering about these, maybe I’ll try to assemble a set of original loose ones, now that they’ve dropped in price somewhat. The upcoming series look great though; Maya is surreal- kinda looks like a Gerry Anderson puppet version of the actress.

Boy it's going to be a costly year for me on the diecast front. More diecasts coming from the Gerry Anderson line from Product Enterprise (http://www.productenterprise.com/anderson.html). So far my brother has pre-ordered for us the Stingray, Fireball XL5, Supercar and Spectrum Patrol Vehicle. Now I'm just deciding if I want to go with all three SHADO Mobiles or just the one.  :-\

Picked up a 2005 '67 Camaro Treasure Hunt the other day :P  Cool car and the list of treasure hunts on the back is pretty neat - lots of classic cars.

Before you ask, no, I don't actively collect hot wheels or treasure hunts for that matter.  I just pick them up when I see them out of spite :-*

Treasure Hunts are the pile of gold at the end of the rainbow for hot wheels collectors.  A box of hot wheels has 64 cars in it.  I believe (but I could be wrong) that treasure hunts are packed only 1 in every 5-6 boxes.  They are essentially chase pieces for hot wheels guys.  Just less common cars is all.

I buy them when I find them and throw them under the front seat of my car and leave them there for years. ;)  Just do an ebay search for treasure hunt hot wheels on ebay and you'll see them.

That price is outrageous.
I haven't come across TH's in years.  I remember back in 1995 I was able to find three of the VW Bug and three of the '57 T-Bird.  I also have a few others from 1996 that I was lucky enough to find.

Neat link Dale, thanks.

I've sold most of my vintage hot wheels now, only a couple left.  They are one of the types of toys I grew up on but I just couldn't pass up that kind of money.  I can definitely see the appeal of newer hot wheels, but just can't lower myself to that association in general.  I love finding treasure hunts though.  They usually just sit in my car for months on end.  The 2005 stuff is pretty special though, a lot of really nice cars in there including the Camaro, Corvette and '34 Ford.

Kevin, they are labeled as Treasure hunts and you can see the logo on the side.  But be warned, hot wheels collectors are fairly dedicated, to put it politely.

I picked up a couple of Corgi's new 1/43 Batmobiles- they're wicked. All have some little gimmick, reminiscent of older diecast toys and the larger scale gives them some heft… rubber tires too.

I can't dump these things. :-[

Hot Wheels has released some die-cast older cars that are a nicer quality than the usual figures.  These are sold on the orange cards as Hot Wheels Classics.  No chase cars really, though there are some variations, but I could care less about those.  I've only been buying either Camaros or Mustangs.  For series 1 I picked up most of the versions, though I am missing some colors (green for example).

Series 2 has just begun with a 65 Mustang, Mustang Mach 1 and 1967 Camaro Convertible - the latter being my dream car.  The first runs are gold in color, the second seems to be green, at least for the 65 stang.  There's a Mach 1 in magenta as well ::)

Series 1 was a 1968 Mustang (fastback) and a

Mattel is releasing multiple versions (i.e. scales) of the classic television Batmobile in 2007:

Not that I am aware of Brent, nothing in his e-mails or on his site or HLJ. Looks like these came out late summer last year & from what I found out on the net is they were offered only briefly last month in Cirlce K stores in Japan?  ???

This is all I found on the KYOSHO Site (http://www.kyosho.com/jpn/products/diecast/brmc/7mc/lineup/index.html)

My girls have taken a particularly keen liking to Hotwheels, which I had never really paid any attention to. Whenever I've taken them to Target or some other place with Hotwheels, and they've been especially well-behaved (not an easy task; they're two and three), I get 'em each a Hotwheel. A well-spent $1.98.

What I couldn't believe is how cheap these are. It seems that SW figures should be a lot cheaper if these highly collectible cars are only $99 each. Of course, SW has the licensing costs and other things, but still, seems like SW figures...even the Galactic Heroes, should be way less.

And this all ties into me wanting to buy my girls (and me, I guess) more Star Wars related stuff instead of or in addition to Hotwheels.

Haven't ever seen a Treasure Hunt, or the cereal editions, but we do have this cool gray Mustang and a Green Dodge Challenger that I'm particularly fond of.  :)

No doubt.  I've been looking for HW TH stuff eversince DS posted what can be done with these things (no luck though).  Most of the SW Titaniums are smaller/weigh less than a HW car and yet I'm paying $4 + more - must all be in the packaging I suppose.   :-\

More like it's all in the licensing...

TH's are a pain to find. I got lucky this past year about found about 10 or so for the whole year. I recommend checking out of the way places. My best scores were at Supermarkets. Look by the checkout registers. That's where I found my last 2 '06 1970 Plymouth Barracudas...

As for HW, i've been an on/off collector for the last decade. Like anything else, at first I bought everything then whittled down to certain cars. Now I just mainly collect the Batmobiles, Oscar Mayer Weinermobiles and Morris Minis as well as whatever catches my eye...

I've never been into Hot Wheels.  Even as a kid I bought mostly Matchbox cars because that was what my local store sold.

However, back in December, I was in Target for a toy run and spun through the car aisle and saw a Hot Wheels car on the pegs but the bubble was entirely black with a question mark on it.  After looking at I found out that there is a set of Mystery cars for 2007.  I thought it was cool so I bought it along with one other, there were only the two.  Since then I've been cruising the HW aisle looking for more and found 6 the other day.

One of them is supposed to be a Batmobile from one of the recent cartoons.  They each have a barcode on them and supposedly Mattel will release info later in the year to tell you what car you have by the code but there doesn't appear to be any correlation...meaning all Batmobiles don't have the same code.

They're kind of fun and for the 6 of them it cost less than one Star Wars figure.

Yeah the code is worthless. I've bought about 25 mystery cars, ended up with mulitples and all had different barcodes. If you want to spot the Batmobile easily, squeeze the top and bottom of the bubble and it should have some give to it (nothing hard) then lastly shake it. If you don't hear anything moving back and forth or rattling around, it's most likely a Batmobile. The car itself is pretty small and easily scratched so they wrap it in a plastic baggie inside the bubble which prevents it from moving around. I've gotten 6 of them using this method. You can also get the Animated Batmobile in an exclusive 2-pack at Target w/o having to go through the hassle of buying the Mystery cars but i've only come across those a few times...

I thought I'd come fully out of the closet and show my hot wheels that I currently have.

I did collect these as a kid and was around for the very original release of the die cast hotwheels, including the first sixteen cars.  I sold off a bunch of them, in fact all but one of my vintage Camaros a couple of years ago.  Between those and various other vintage toys I had as a kid, I managed to compile a complete loose vintage collection of Star Wars figures plus bank about $2000, so a reasonable trade.

I have to confess though, I still like Hot Wheels, just not the junky stuff they put out for the most part on the blue cards.  I buy the occasional car, like Mustangs, Camaros or Batmobiles.  So I was pretty excited to see the Hot Wheels Classics line which is pretty much an homage to the old, original line or redlines released back in the 1960s.  I collect all of the Camaros or Firebirds from 1967-1969 and the Mustangs from 1964-1971 or so.  I also pick up the occasional other car from the line if I like it, but not too many as these come in at a price of $3.99 each or about 4x as much as the regular line.  They're all carded for the moment, but will be opened when I can display them on a shelf.

Camaros and Batmobiles (I can't wait for the classic TV show version to show up)

Nice collection Morg! I'm totally jealous of the Dairy Delivery TH, i've yet to find one of those. Just a heads up, the '66 Batmobile is out and from what i've heard 3-4 per case so it should hopefully be pretty easy to find. I myself have yet to find that as well...

I have two Dairy Delivery THs, so if you want one, you're welcome to it.

I'm not really into the TH cars at all but I buy them if I find them.  I was really happy to find the Camaro and the Mustang THs from 2006 (or was it '05?) and I still want the white Mustang TH but I just haven't bought it off ebay yet.  From what I've seen pictures of, there isn't a 2007 TH that I have any need to own.

As for the Batmobile, thanks for the info.  I didn't expect it to be rare, but as with all things it'll be hard to find at the start.  I sold off my old Corgi Batmobiles so that's why I bought the HW versions, cheap replacements to fill that nostalgic void.  I'll get it at some point, hopefully on my own for cheap and no shipping.

What's up with Treasure Hunts this year?  Are they packing them two to a box?  I don't think so because when I found the Dairy Delivery THs they were one per box and at totally different stores.

I've found 11 (now 13) TH cars in probably four years of looking.  But of those 13, I've found 2 in January, 2 in February and now 2 in March.  Six in three months versus seven in 3.5 years??  What gives, what changed in the release pattern?

I know at one time Canada used to get a decent amount of TH cars but the US collectors protested the distribution saying it was disproportional up here, so Mattel fixed that apparently.  I'm just a little surprised.

It was a good day though, both THs were the Nissan Skyline and I also found a Redline car today and lo and behold it was a 69 Firebird I believe, which is nothing more than a rebadged 69 Camaro, so that was pretty nice.

Really nice pictures. I have collected HW on and off for years also. Mostly all the competition has turned me off. Too many people lined up at Target before it opens. I'm not an expert but I believe this year there are more TH. because there are 2 types now. The regular and a Super treasure hunt. I don't think the packaging is any different (haven't seen a TH this year) but the super has the real rider soft tires and different wheels. Maybe a close look at some of your doubles will show a difference.
A note on the Batmobile line the new 1966 model is out which looks really awesome (at least in the pix) and there is a 5 pac from Batman Begins with that flat black stealth Hummer Batmobile that is way cool.
A good site for news is HotWheelsCollectors.com. It's message boards are huge.

I wasn't aware of the super treasure hunts, so thanks for the information.  I'll have to take a peak at the wheels.

I'm actually registered at HotWheelsCollectors.com but have never posted there.  Even had a redline membership for a year, but I let it lapse because of my restricted focus on particular cars, it's cheaper for me to find them on ebay than lay out the cash for the membership.  Worse, the first vehicle they sent was left on the step by UPS and stolen.  Neither UPS nor hw club gave a crap ::)  It's UPS's fault but the response from the redline club was pretty similar to that I received from Master Replicas one time: tough luck.  You don't have to tell me twice. ::)

As for collecting up here (Canada), there are quite a few collectors and they are pretty rapid, but stores got tired of guys (hot wheels and McFarlane) charging down the aisles and leaving the respective sections a mess.  So they all tend to stock at random times now, eliminating the early morning sprints.  Some stores have collectors on staff too, so there's no point in even looking there.  The nearest Walmart to me never brings out a sealed box of Hot Wheels, they are always opened before they ever leave the stockroom.  Add that to the lower counts for THs in Canada and I think guys have stepped back a bit.

I went looking for Star Wars and found Hot Wheels :-\

What a weird morning.  Went looking for the Walmart wave of figures which did arrive, but were gone already by the time I got there.  I checked a pile of stores (6) and found some hotwheels though.

THs must be one heck of a lot more common because a couple more Nissan Skyline THs today.  Actually, I found 8 of them :o  Three at one store, two at another, two at another and one at the last.  Just plain silly to the point of me leaving them behind.  I do think one of them is the super chase though, because it has different wheels. I'll post pictures later or tomorrow, but that makes 10 Treasure Hunts I found this week, all of them the Skyline.
Title: Re: Diecast: Dinky-Matchbox-Hot Wheels

So combined with the two I found earlier in the week, I picked up 8 Nissan Skyline Treasure Hunts this week.  Weird, weird, weird.

Two have substantially different wheels (front and rear) than the other six, so I wonder if those are the super chase version?

I also picked up another redline vehicle and three of the Hot Wheels Classics cars from series 3.  I like the old Fords from the 30s/40s so grabbed the Vicky.  I dig the flames on the old cars too but I probably won't grab any more of that model.  I will grab more of the Heavy Chevy (67? Camaro) and the Nitty Gritty Kitty (68 or so Cougar).  So like last year's Hot Wheels Classics there are three cars I'm aiming to get all the color variations on, the third being the 1969 Camaro convertible.  This was the first time I'd seen the heavy chevy and NGK up here.  I know they're already on another color south of the border for the cars so as usual we're behind.  Still, I was worried we weren't going to have any retailers carrying these (I can still find some series 1 cars on the hooks) so it's nice to see them.

Showing my ignorance (maybe) here, but is there anything special (other than the red line wheels) on that green Chevy Truck, Brent? I've got the exact same truck sitting on my desk (sans packaging) with the intent of taking it home to my girls, simply because they don't have a pickup in their "collection" yet.

No, it doesn't seem the Batmobile has hit up here yet.  I know a few of the other 'new' cars in the same assortment and I've yet to see those as well, but that might be because they're always gone when I get there.  Given I found that many THs though I figure it's not about yet.

As for the truck, nope, just a redline is all.  Redlines, I assume you know are a throwback to the original hot wheels that all had redline tires.  People seem to get excited when they find them so I bought it (hey, it's a buck right?).  I've honestly not looked at ebay to see if there's any value because I don't expect there is.

As for the super treasure hunt stuff, the two in the lower left of the picture are indeed the super TH versions.  The wheels are different.

Yeah it's a bit annoying but with the new packaging it gives the name, make and # all on the side so you can usually just glare down the row without having to touch any cars. I usually just shift the pegs to side a bit. It works nicely...

I might be interested. I'll need to get a list together of what I have. PM me a list of your extras. Originally I wasn't going to collect this set but from buying so many to get the Batmobiles, i've ended up with a bunch that are just laying around...

I stopped by a local WM tonight to find exclusive **** that I knew wouldn't be there, but I love hunting...

I found a virgin endcap full of untouched HW stuff so I figured I'd dig through the pegs a bit as there were 4-5 "Mystery" things littered throughout the front pegs.  I not only found one, but four TH 69 Camaro's.  It says on the back that I'm a "true Hot Wheels star."  Is this true?  Can I now win my dream of becoming an American Idol or pay for my son's college education??

Seriously though...I'm only looking for these things so that I can trade a scalper HW guy for UGHs.  I had a big problem with these guys last year always beating me to them so at least I now have some ammo.

Nice Dale, I'd hate to think of what that set you back :-X

Going back to Hot Wheels (spawn of evil that it is), I want to reiterate a point that Treasure Hunts have to be more common now than they've ever been.  In the space of eight days I found six THs:

Nissan Skyline
Dairy Delivery
'69 Pontiac GTO x2
Corvette C6R x2, one on the long card and one on the short card.

I'm not suggesting these have become common, but I really haven't changed my shopping strategy at all this year.  In previous years I'd found maybe 4-5 TH in about 5 years or so.  But I've found 21 or so this year :o  Still no Mega Thrust  ::) or tooned Camaro for me to find.  I think I missed the Camaro but the Mega  ::) hasn't shown up north yet.

The Batmobile has started showing here now, in cases with the GTO TH.

End of fat, smelly, sweat-pant clad report.

DAAAAAAMN! Where do you get all this luck? Does no one up there collect these things? I had a good run a few months ago but have been striking out lately. I did manage to find 2 GTO's (long & short) last month and a Mega Thrust the other morning, all regulars. Up until this last find I was about to just sell everything off and forget about HW's this year but i'm hoping to complete a regular set now...

I don't know where the luck is coming from, honestly.  Like I said, I'm not doing anything different than years past, but I just keep walking into the things.  It might be as simple as the new green bar on the side rather than the older, smaller bar with the treasure chest.  Maybe I just used to miss them, but can't now with the senior sized marking along the side?

I'm really not even into the Hot Wheels on the whole.  I do collect the Classics series, but only the Mustangs and Camaros plus whatever else catches my eye.  I only try to be complete with the colors (but not minor variations) on the M/C and only the older cars, 65-70 or so on Mustangs and 67-69 on Camaros (and Firebirds).  Our stores really aren't carrying the Classics much this year at all as I'm behind on some of the cars and some haven't even shown up here at retail as only early cases were put out.

I'll probably keep one each of the THs from this year, but lots of extras floating around my place for sure.

That hearse is great. I've got it sitting on my desk at the office. I've been really impressed with the latest offerings from Matchbox. There was an orange '62 Beetle and green '56 Ford pickup that were spot-on a few months ago, and I just recently found the new red '65 Alfa GTA...a beaut!

Yes it is fantastic and I too have one on my desk here at work. :D

After a lengthy cold streak, I stumbled on a couple of Mega Thrust treasure hunts yesterday.  Mega Thrust.  hee hee.  Sorry, it's either sexual innuendo or Monster Truck commercials running through my mind.

NICE! I haven't found a TH in at least 4 months. Either they've dried up or i'm just not fast enough and the scalpers are getting them all.   :'(

Based on what I read in the thread over on the spawn board, they definitely haven't dried up.  Still out there for sure, but you probably have too much integrity to tear open sealed boxes, wander into WM stock rooms and things like that.  Those guys are really, really brazen.

Most of my luck comes from figuring out what stores are stocking on what day and at what time.  Walmarts around here have obviously become tired of the same stellar behavior from the same stellar individuals to the point where they actually no longer stock certain items overnight.  That's fairly depressing as a statement on collectors, but not that surprising considering how many times I've come across toy boxes ripped open and cars or figures scattered about with no concern for who's going to clean up the mess.  Sadly the hot wheels guys are far and away the worst (well, since McFarlane stuff cooled off anyway).

Picked up a couple of Enzo Ferrari treasure hunts this morning.  I'm going to try and total up how many THs I found this year, but the number was huge relative to previous years and I think huge relative to most normal people anyway.  It's probably close to 20 or more.  Just nuts.  That said I don't think all 12 THs will be released up here in Canada and I still managed to miss the only one I really wanted anyway, the Camaro.

Finally found the HW Batmobile this week. Pretty cool. Also, I found a '70 Chevelle ragtop redline. This one wasn't labeled as a Red Line; are they still labeling the Red Lines as such?

As for Matchbox, managed to get one of each of the the green 55th ann. models (Mini, Bronco and Lexus), and picked up yet another of my favorite model of the year...the Alfa Romeo Giulia.

I don't know to be honest.  It might be a 2008 model and I haven't seen any of those cars just yet.  Sounds like a cool car though.

US retail is $350. but I got t for $220. plus shipping, cheapest I could find.

Product Enterprise, now known as Iconic Replicas Limited (http://www.productenterprise.com/) no longer makes the 12" scale diecasts. They are into more of a studio scale, 23" which is a killer.

This Mk IX Hawk is a beauty at 19" but sadly at $800. US, it's not going to happen.  :'(

Now a 12" version of the Hawk for $100., I would be all over it like flies to ****!  ;)

Some days it seems like I'm the only one out there for sure, but I know I'm not.  I know more than a dozen guys by face that are Hot Wheels collectors and only Hot Wheels.  When I see them in the store I don't even go looking.

That said, I found a couple more THs today :P

As for the BAtmobile, it did make it's way up here eventually, but Titus and I made a trade long before that happened so he had me covered.

There are some pretty cool 1/18 scale Hot Wheels with redlines on them right now.  Only Sears seems to be carrying them up here but no luck finding the Camaro, the only one I want.  There's also a 1/18 scale Batmobile out apparently that I'd like to get my ahnds on as well.

Oh good god, what to do.  :-\

Iconic Replicas Ltd. is coming out with a new Space 1999 Eagle diecast. This mother is going to be 44 inches & limited to 100 worldwide & retail at 1000.00 GBP so about 2000.00 US  :o

Quote
SPACE 1999: 44 INCH EAGLE PROJECT

After the huge success of our Prop Replica Eagle Transporter / Medical Eagle / Laboratory Eagle and Eagle Freighter, (and continual requests from collectors) Sixteen 12 Collectibles is launching the 44inch Eagle Project!

For some time now we have been considering producing a Studio Replica of this 44inch monster and now the time is right.

In conjunction with model makers Andrew Grimshaw and Bob Smith, who were responsible some years back for a beautiful 44 inch "garage" model kit version, we are refining their original model to produce our all new tooling version for the manufacture of 100 ONLY WORLDWIDE 44ich STUDIO SCALE EAGLE TRANSPORTERS.

Bob and Andy's original model kit was the result of exhaustive research including direct access to original Studio models in order that detailed and accurate measurements could be taken along with actual castings from some original parts.

Our in house model makers will in turn, develop this further into the first ever FULLY LICENCENCED Studio Replica of one of British Televisions most iconic space craft.

EARLY DAYS

Development of this replica has only just got underway and details are yet to be clarified.
However, we can confirm at this stage that the model will come on a display base with an etched edition plaque featuring edition number. A certificate of Authenticity from Sixteen 12 Collectibles Ltd as well as a HAND SIGNED certificate by GERRY ANDERSON himself!
This Studio Replica will strictly be on a first come – first served basis. As a result, pre ordering will be offered firstly to all of our COLLECTOR CLUB MEMBERS (Now might be a good time to sign up!)

Due to the scale of this project, all pre orders will be subject to a £200 deposit in order to secure the Edition.

Costings are currently underway; however we are hoping to retail this 44ich Eagle Transporter Studio Replica in the region of £1000 UK.

Images of development model will be posted by end of August.

That's a beauty.  I sold mine quite a while ago when I was purging my vintage hot wheels and stuff.  It was loose and the antenna was broken off.  My rockets were red and I only had three of them.  But the car was in nice shape and had Batman/Robin with it.  Loose of course, so no box and no trees for any of the stuff.

If you look at that last picture that shows the accessories, the Batman sticker on the bottom left is meant for clothing.  I had it on the Batmobile, but took it off.  It's now stuck on the front of the monitor that I'm looking at right now, so I kept a wee, little piece of history anyway ;)

Nice stuff Dale.  I admit to being tempted by the Space 1999 bug of late, but so far have resisted.  I really wish I could get that Konami Rescue Eagle at a reasonable price.  I could be happy with just the three small ships.

Been a loooooooong time since I found a treasure hunt.  Not that it really matters, since they all pretty much end up in a box in the basement anyway, never to be seen again.

Hey Brent, remember that post above? Well guess what arrived in the mail today...  ;D

After a very long time since I posted the above, I have been on the hunt for a complete set of these baby's. These are diecast with the odd piece of plastic on them, these are absolutely the best diecasts I have seen in a very long time.  8)

I was lucky not only to get a complete set but I also got the poster cards & the display box as seen in the auction pic below.  ;D

These diecasts are nicely packed in the single boxes, a clear plastic cover/dome protects the diecasts & the vehicles are securely fastened by a small screw on the bottom of the display base & a black cardboard that you can slide out with no problem holds them all together.

So here they are in no particular order.

The Moon Buggy has a plastic radar dish base that needs to be attached & the arms can be moved up & down.

This DB5 is Type A as the bullet shield is viewable.

This DB5 is Type B as the shield is retracted, 1 of the pieces to the battering-ram on the front bumper broke off as I took it out of the box & is easily repairable.  :)

This Acrostar is Type a, the landing gear is down.

This Acrostar is Type B, the landing gear is up & comes with a display stand for flight which can be screwed down onto the base. Both BD-5J's as they are known as have folding wings.  8)

This is Type A (see below).

This is Type B, the difference between the 2 Vanquish's is the front grill.

So yeah, very... very happy with this set. Now I just have to find a place to display the bastards!  ;D

Wow.  That's in amazing shape though, with the bullets still on the sprue and the outer box.  I had the Batmobile and my buddy across the street had the Batboat as well, but we both played with them and the boxes long went away.  I did keep my Batmobile in nice enough shape to sell it a couple of years back for about $200 though.

Whew, the TH luck appears to be back, at least for a while.  Had a very long stretch without finding one (8 months or so) but found one a couple of weeks back, then one on Monday and then eight more today including two supers.  Still gotta film my bonfire. >:D

Do the TH's still look like the ones from like two years ago with that green stripe or whatever?  I haven't really looked since I got those toon Camaros (which are still gathering dust somewhere)

Yup, green stripe down the side.  Just like in the picture above my picture with the white lightning. The Mustangs in the lower left of that picture are the first THs of 2010 (01/12) so the pattern remains the same for this year.

I picked up this beauty at the Kennedy Space Center, this is a reissued version of Code 3 model made by Toys & Models Corporation for the 40th Anniversary. Just stunning.  8)

Found the new 2010 Hot Wheels Batmobile the other day.  Very cool.

Opened up the new Hot Wheels Ghostbusters ECTO-1 the other day and it's very cool.  Have it displayed with my Ertl Ecto-1 and 2009 Hallmark Ecto-1.

Huh, I still haven't found either the Ecto or the Batmobile so far.  I can stumble across Thunts every so often but those cars continue to elude me.  I did find five THs in the last couple of weeks including two super Thunts.

I only saw them one time and that's when I bought them.

Just received the 1980 Hot Wheels Sto & Go City Playset I bought on ebay.  Sold mine off years ago and found a nice new one to put on display with my childhood Hot Wheels and Matchbox.  I kept all my childhood cars and carrying case but sold off everything else in the late 80s.  I also have the 1979 Service Station coming soon.

Anyone else remember the Sto & Go Hot Wheel Sets from 1979, 1980,....?

I just remember the carwash set from the early 80's.  Very cool I guess back from the day.  Fun set.  Color change cars?  I don't recall, but a fun piece.

I remember those but they'd have been at a phase in my life when toys weren't all that important given I was 16 in 1980.

I too sold all my childhood cars, but many of those were the original redline hotwheels.  Basically through ebay I traded all my hotwheels for vintage star wars figures.  I kept a few of the cars that weren't in great shape and that were favorites.  I still have a lot of the Matchbox cars because they simply didn't provide a return that was worth getting rid of them.

Well, check part of that statement as I found a couple of the new Batmobiles today.  Still no Ecto but I did find another regular Shelby Daytona TH so not all bad.  That's six THs in three weeks now.

Only finding Mustang THs these days and been a bit dry considering the season.  Thanks to MikeyD I have my Ecto now though.

Hot Wheels DeLorean is now a Back to the Future model after having gone through at least gold, black and possibly one more color variation.  I'm hoping these show up here.  Still stumbling on the occasional TH but pretty sparse on the luck since I'm in stores so much less these days.

Found the BTTF Delorean yesterday.  I'm not a hardcore HW collector but I like grabbing the movie and comic related ones (Ecto-1, Batmobiles, etc.).  Anything else like that coming out soon?  I know there's an Arkham Asylum Batmobile coming.  I'd love to see the A-Team van.

Nothing seemingly coming that's got the HW guys I know all hot and bothered (how's that for a visual?).  Most are pleased the BTTF DeLorean has been much higher packed than the Ecto was.  Good thing you sent me one of those, I never saw any.

I've actually bought more HW cars in the last couple of weeks than Star Wars toys.  :P  I picked up a couple BttF DeLorians and then the regular DeLorian for my buddy.  And I also snagged a Batmobile which I think is the same, maybe a color difference, as the mystery Batmobile from a couple years ago.

I didn't know that HW did an Ecto-1.  How long ago was that?  I'll have to look for a photo of it, sounds cool.
Edit -> Just looked it up, that's pretty cool!

Just so Brent doesn't miss it - talk about combining two of your favorite things!

2011 SDCC Hot Wheels® Franken Berry™ Vehicle ($20) (http://www.mattycollector.com/store/matty/ContentTheme/pbPage.2011_SDCC-Products)

This Franken Berry™ cereal box with a Hot Wheels car inside will take you right back to being 7 years-old and watching Saturday morning cartoons. What car is inside? It’s the popular Dairy Delivery vehicle, of course, because you need some milk to go with your cereal! Shake the box and hear that awesome cereal sound coming from inside.

Woot!  :D

Thanks Jeff, I didn't know about that one yet.  I'm not a big fan of the Dairy Delivery style, but if it's got Frankenberry on it, I'm in.

Don't know if anyone ever bought any Dukes of Hazzard General Lee cards back in the day, but now is the time to sell them.  Prices are waaaaaaaaaay up on eBay thanks to the Confederate flag kerfuffel.
