Watto's Junk Yard / Reasons for my absence
« on: December 29, 2007, 07:45 AM »
Hello fella Defenders, sure you have missed me. Well here are the reasons for my absence from JD for so long.

In the spring my dad was diagnosed with lung-cancer and went to a surgery a couple of weeks before Celebration Europe. The doctors removed 1/3 of his right lung and two lymph nodes, he then went to have chemo but got pretty ill them with some strange infections. They found out he got kidneystones so he was not in condition to get any more chemo theraphy as the infection was close to knock him out for good.  Back in november and december the stones was removed and he went to the 3 month control for the cancer and fortunatly there was no signs of cancer left, but this have been a rough half year for him.

Besides i have been quite bussy myself as I did a talk on Danish Star Wars Merchandise at CE in London back in July and two talks at Euocon in Copenhagen in September, one of them in English the other in Danish. Also one of my coworkers was hospitalized for a while at the bussiest time of year back in May/June so this was a bit extra work for me.

Now everything seems to be back at a more normal scale as both my coworker and my dad are feeling much better.

btw: please don't joke on this Scott, Matt, Jamie, Brad (and others).

Collections / Finally pictures of my Star Wars collection
« on: September 20, 2006, 02:29 PM »
Finally, after years of waiting, here you go.

Last weekend, a friend and fellow Star Wars was here on a visit, and he shot a lot of pictures of my Star Wars collection. I deilvered the pictures to my dad for editing (crop, sharpen, focus etc.). He has better picture edit programmes than me, and more time to edit them. Beside, I havn't worked with graphic programmes since the good ol' Commodore 64 days, so I'm a bit rusty on that.

Since there are so many pictures, I have just poted links to them.

Watto's Junk Yard / Just stepped by to say hello
« on: October 20, 2005, 02:39 PM »
Hey there.

Long time no see. I have been busy at a danish SW forum, where I'm an admin.

We have started meeting up irl, and thats great, since there are some very nice women on that forum.

I have been at a gaming weekend in the third weekend in september, and a film/bowling/dinner weekend in the first weekend of october. But the best trip was the first one (july the 30th), where me and the webmaster where having an admin meeting. Me, him a guy called Nairb savage and two sisters, who where then very new members at the forum, met up in Tivoli Copenhagen. Now the older sister is a modeartor, aften only beeing a member since July the 1st.

In the first weekend in november we will meet i Cophengen for a DVD maraton. And the best thing, I will be celebrating New Years Eve at the webmasters place, and yes both sisters will be there, along with a couple of other female menbers.  8)

Do I have to say that the older sister of cause has signed The Ice Cream Maker Guy petition, along with other dansh fans, on my request. Still I have to make more member sign (new signature must be sign it or be banned from the forum forever  ;)).

« on: June 19, 2005, 04:34 AM »
Up to the premiere of RotS, I was contacted by a regional Danish TV station, names TV-Syd. They wanted interview a Star Wars fan.

I accepted to do it, thet came on may the 19th. and we talked about the film, conventions and my collection of vintage figures. It was the broadcasted one week later, on may the 26th.

I got a DVD from TV-Syd with my interview.

I was also contacted by Denmarks Radio, who did a radio-interview with me up to the premiere of AotC. They called me at work, and asked if I would an interview again. But it collided with the other interview, so I had to pass it by.

JD Sports Forum! / Any other fans of Sumo-wrestling here?
« on: April 24, 2005, 04:34 AM »
Serioulsy I enjoy watching sumo on Europsort.

First time they send it was when the sumo-stars was in France (in the late 1990's as far as I remember). It got quite populat so they continued to send sumo on regular basic.

When you get to know the rules and the styles of the different rikishis (wrestlers), it's actually quite entertaining.

Hope to hear from other sumo fans here.

Hello.

Awake after only 5 hours of sleep.

Yesterday I was host for some friends, like last New Years Eve. This time we were 8 for dinner and 9th. person arrivinger later in the Evening, also my nagbourgh and her daughter droped by. Everything much like the New Years Eve before.(Just that we were 6 for dinner last year, with 3 persons arriving later). This year however some of the guests helped with the washing up (that was before opening the whisky and cognac).

I noticed one of my friend standing the somehow dark room, where I keep my books, computer and vintage collection.  T hought he was admireing the collection, then I saw that most of the figures was lying in a pile on their respective shelves, just as if they had a big party on their own. I later found out who was responsible for this mess (another of the guests), but I was not mad at him. No harm seems to have been don to them

Now I will clean up the last cups and glasses, and then some more hours of sleep.

Happy New Years.

Watto's Junk Yard / Catastophe - fireworks factory exploded
« on: November 5, 2004, 10:36 AM »
Wedneysday a firework factory, with 2000 tons of fireworks stored, exploded in Kolding, Denmark, and the fire was still on today, but under control.

Kolding is only aprox. miles from Vejle where I live, and I used to study down there from 1993 - 2001.

They tried to prevent the fire from reaching the main werehouse, where 800 tons where stored, but they failed, as the ecploded 5.45 pm CET.

The result is that a large area looks like a warzone, with more than 350 houses(homes) desroyed, and 2000 people have been evacuated. It's rumored the explosion has heared 200 kilometers from Kolding.

This was an axident and not terror - thanks god.

Watto's Junk Yard / Star Wars Tag-team Tournament
« on: July 31, 2004, 07:21 AM »
For those of you who know the tournaments made by "Chewbacca - the Namechanger" on Rebel Scum, the rules need not to be axpalined. For those who don't, here is a small introduction.

First you pick a team of two Star Wars characters, if possible with some realation (eg. Han & Chewie or R2-D2 & C-3PO), you think should be nominated to enter the tournament (you can max nominate 4 teams). When we have 16 teams the fights starts. You pick a match, write the story and declare the winner - simple as that.

So without futher due I nominated these teams:
Han Solo & Chewbacca
Boba Fett & Jango Fett
2-1B & FX-7
Lobot & The Ice-Cream Maker Guy

I don't keep on track with the modern figures from Hasbro. I am aware they have made the OTC line and the retro line,  but I'm not sure wich figures is in those line and I probley don't know half of the Saga figures.

So what I would like to know is which vintage figure have yet to be made in the modern line, I'am aware of those, but could be wrong:

Squid head
Nikto (red version)
Klaatu (Palace Guard)
Barada ?
Bespin Security Guard
Anakin Skywalker (old)
Chief Chirpa
Teebo
Paploo
Lumat
Warok
Romba
FX-7 ?
Rebel Soldier (brown suit) ?
General Madine

JD Sports Forum! / Tour de Lance
« on: July 24, 2004, 01:16 PM »
Today the Lance-Man crushed all oponents again one time trial, he even beat time trial specialist Jan Ullrich with more than one minute.

My favorite team is CSC (because it's a danish team with former tour-winner Bjarne Riis as manager). Amazing than CSC had 3 riders (Ivan Basso, Bobby Jullich and Jens Voigt) in top 10 on the time trial, and US Postal had four (Lance, Floyd Landis, Rubiera and José Azavedo).
