It's totally a crapshoot.  But I've also heard about good figures turning up this way.  So we'll see.

EDIT - So I got my tracking data for the shipment.  And what I found was surprising.  The shipment isn't coming from a distribution center.  It's actually coming from a store!  Best Buy must be accounting for in store inventory with orders and has items shipping from the stores with that stock to customers.  It's kind of unusual given the business models of most online retailers.  But I think Target might actually be doing this, too.

My Queen Amidala came. Yay?  :-\

Call it the pandemic blues. Blame it on withdrawals from the dearth of TVC. It was a moment of weakness and I pre-ordered.

From memory, the face does look way better than the original. So while there are so many figures I would have preferred re-released before this, I'm not sorry buying this version. Yay!  :)

I stopped by a GameStop location while I was stopping next door for a coffee.  And I was shocked to find a TVC Mandalorian (VC166) and Cara Dune on the pegs.  I picked them both up.

This might be a turn in a positive direction.  I can't remember seeing new TVC figures at GameStop for some time, especially since they wound up getting so much of that first TVC wave that was gumming up the distribution works.

Wow, that's a nice find!  Which Gamestop did they show up at?

Was there something new with the re-issue of the Emperor's Royal guard, or is this a straight repack of the older #105 ERG?

They used photo real technology on the face and updated the soft goods.

I did a compare on my YouTube channel....you can watch it here if interested.  Spoiler alert - there's isn't too much of a difference.

I'm more convinced than ever that they re-released this because of the new Palpatine figure we're getting.
This is the way.

Like Matt mentioned, the photo real paint apps are the big difference here.  Minor differences?  There are some slight packaging differences between the original release and the reissue.  The back of the card being the most obvious difference.  The blister and how the figure is placed in it is different, too.  There might be some slight changes to the front of the card, but that's probably the least noticeable difference.

And yeah, I've been reading posts on the TVC Facebook group WAY too much.

The TVC Facebook group is a great source for information....after you filter out all the "look at what I got" posts.

I was shocked to find the Walmart exclusive TVC wave with Leia, Paploo and the AT-ST Driver in decent quantities today.  And it was in the middle of the day.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this figure here but really just yesterday I had gotten the Lucasfilm 50th anniversary Endor Luke Skywalker.  Today I got Rogue One Darth Vader.  Both from eBay.

I just saw that endcap display make a return at my local Walmart.  I was hoping to find a couple more Tusken Raiders, but no dice.

Tusken is in that new wave.  It’s not popped up in the shippers (yet?🤔).

Crap...our credit card was compromised and we got new ones, but the cc# has changed. I was able to easily update all my pre-orders, but for some asinine reason Walmart doesn't allow that. Any idea if they charge when you order, or do they wait until they're ready to ship? Has anyone had to deal with that before?

Walmart charges when they're ready to ship.

Contact the cc company and see if they'll allow the order to go through when Walmart processes it.
