Well of the Souls / Re: Hasbro 3.75" Deluxe Figures
« on: May 16, 2008, 10:10 PM »
I saw most of the Deluxe figures last night.  They all look pretty good, but I decided to abstain.  I'm trying to space out my IJ purchases.

I've actually been wondering what else might make it into the Deluxe line.  Some quick ideas?

-German soldiers on motorcycle w/ sidecar - ROTLA
-German soldiers w/ crated Ark - ROTLA
-Willie Scott w/ lava cage - TOD
-Indy w/ mining car - TOD
-Thugee w/ mining car - TOD
-Young Indy w/ horse - TLC
-Indy & Henry w/ motorcycle & sidecar - TLC
-Mutt & Indy w/ motorcycle - KOTCS

I think a re-do on the Eopie, Nexu, Dewback, and Tauntaun might be cool.  At least better articulated versions.  Hasbro was able to articulate the Kybuck to a degree.  But the pessimist in me doesn't hold out hope for this to happen.

The trouble I see with the beast packs is that the only real vehicle for them at this point is the Battle Pack format.  There's currently a Battle Pack out with a Tauntaun, and sure enough it's the old POTF2 sculpt.  I could see a potentially interesting pack with Han Solo, Luke, spirit Obi-Wan and a Tauntaun.  But would it be cost-effective for Hasbro to resculpt a Tauntaun for this?  It seems to go against their current mindset.

What kind of Battle Pack would an Eopie fit in with?  It doesn't seem like a potentially exciting scene.  What would we get?  The Towing the Pod Racer battle pack?  How about the Farting Eopie at the Pod Race battle pack?  Or better yet the Qui-Gon riding to the Queen's ship & talking to Obi-Wan battle pack?  I certainly couldn't see Hasbro revisiting Obi-Wan bringing Luke to the Lars Homestead YET AGAIN in such a small space of time.

The Dewback might have a better shot at making it into a more interesting/sellable scene.  There's the search for the droids along with the Sandtroopers in Mos Eisley.

I think that a new Nexu could be a serious possibility.  It seems small enough that *MAYBE* it can fit on a Basic Figure card.  And I think it might benefit reasonably well from some increased articulation.

Managed to score the Titanium Man and Iron Monger reveal figures.  And at Kohls of all places!  While there was some initial sticker shock seeing these priced at $12.99 each, there was a BOGO deal that brought the cost down to $21 after tax at the register.  Not terrible, all things considered.

I personally don't see the big deal in putting prequel figures on a classic style card.  There's nothing sacred about the card.  It's a classic looking Star Wars card.  Would it be a little strange to look at?  Sure.  Other than that, I have no problem with having figures from the entire Saga on a unified looking line of cardbacks.

LEGO / Re: UCS Millenium Falcon

I saw one of these in person at my local LEGO store today.  Crap in a hat, what an awesome set!

When's the last time we actually got a figure of Jar Jar on a basic figure card?  2002?  I think the classic vintage card design has some serious appeal.  Prequel or not.

I like the ANH choices.  The TESB choices seem logical, although a bit weighted towards core characters.  No mention of an Emporer though, huh?  That's disappointing.

I would expect to see a Battle Droid.  And perhaps this is where we're going to get this all new TPM Obi-Wan Kenobi that was mentioned in the Q&A's.

Hmmm.  I wonder if it's possible that the rumored Commander Praji might have been pushed back a little bit?

The Legacy Collection / Re: Legacy Wave ? - Revenge of the Sith
« on: May 14, 2008, 01:03 PM »
It does seem like you'd have to make it a deluxe pack in order to fit the ground slug in with that Clone Trooper.  At least to make it decent.  But then Hasbro has been squeezing some fairly large accessories in with basic figures recently:  the Cantina bar corners, the gongs, etc.

Maybe the Felucia Clone Trooper will come with the Gelagrub.

This would be an awesome presentation for this Clone Trooper.  Will we get it?  That remains to be seen.

Cool news.  I liked the POTJ Imperial Officer when it came out back around 2001, but the times have passed it by.  Plus I really would like an Imperial officer in the tunic uniform, not the jumpsuit.

The Death Star Trooper/Death Squad Commander is interesting.  Perhaps Hasbro wasn't totally happy with the 30AC version?  I know I wasn't.  I thought that the articulation looked too knobby.

The AT-AT Driver is puzzling.  The TSC rendition was a great figure.  I'd rather see Hasbro focus their efforts toward an all-new AT-ST Driver instead of kitbashing the Imperial Officer some more.

Vector finally seems to be making some sense.  The first couple of Vector titles didn't really seem that relevant at the start.

Hmmm...

1.  Satipo
2.  Hovitos warrior

4.  Nepalese Sherpa (the one Indy has the fist fight with in Marion's bar)
5.  Cairo Henchman
6.  Col. Dietrich
7.  Marion in white
8.  German Mechanic
9.  Captain Katanga
10.  Indy in German disguise

Kubricks / Re: Series 8
« on: May 10, 2008, 12:41 AM »
Saw what looked like a gift pack of Series 8 today at Toy Tokyo.  I didn't really take notice of the price as I'm really not an avid Kubrick collector.
