Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Tattoos -- Love 'Em or Hate 'Em?
« on: August 30, 2006, 02:06 PM »
How many of you can accurately read Chinese?  How do you know that every Chinese person in the world isn't laughing their ass off at you behind your back?

I joke about that with my nephew all the time.  He has a tat that supposedly says 'Gifted' and I always tell him it says 'Conceited'.

I was lucky, I had family documents that had the actual symbol for our name on them, so I knew that it was accurate.  But I agree with you 100% and wouldn't trust what's on the wall.

If the decision is because it makes you unique, it probably doesn't.

I was fortunate enough to be able to draw all my own tats, so I'm 100% positive that I was the first to have these.  Now whether or not someone came by the shop I got mine done at and saw the pictures the artists had taken of the final product and wanted the same thing, I can't control.  But I agree that if you're taking a design from a studio, odds are there has been at least one other person that has done it before you.

Make it personal and meaningful to yourself.

I couldn't have said it better myself.  Very well put.

Love them!  But be warned, they become addictive.

Most of my tatoos have significant meaning to me and others were just for fun.  I don't regret any of them and it also helps remind me of the past.

I got my first tat (half dollar sized Chinese symbol) because it had significant meaning to my family.  It's a way for me to show reverence to my great grandfather who immigrated from China to the US, but was forced to change his name upon entering the country.  The crossing swords underneath it enhance the symbol and are meant to represnt my rank of black belt in Tae Kwon Do.  Under the swords is a tribal arm band with a connecting tribal mosaic going down the interior area where the tricep and bicep meet.

On the other arm is a tat of the Yin and Yang in blue and green over the Sun in yellow, red and orange on my deltoid.  This was the last tat I got, the one that hurt the most, but it was the one that I got with my wife.  She was my girlfriend at the time and had been thinking about getting one for quite some time (her sister has a few).  So we went together and she got a sunburst tat on her lower back.

Now that I have two children, I want to get their names placed over my heart.  My wife has actually put the kibosh on that one though.  She thinks I have enough.  Looks like the SOX tat I had planned to commemorate the 2005 World Champs is out of the question too... ;D

My recommendation to you if you are still considering one, make sure it has meaning to you and you will never regret it.  I love telling people about mine.  In terms of placement, what  I've told my neices in the past is that if you ever are considering having children, don't put one in your lower abdominal area.  If you want to be able to see it on a regular basis, don't put it on your back (my wife always complains about how she can never see hers because of where it is).  But I do have to say that the lower back is my favorite spot for tats on women, as well as on the ankle.

Good luck and report back once you've decided!

Who is HOTF I am Sith? Don't you mean HOTP?

Hero Jeff got my point so all is good now.

Yes, all is right with the world, and thank you for pointing out another mistake in posting.  I was indeed refering to HOTP.

Slothus' Newbie Whipping Boy is now signing off...

Sorry Jeff, on my screen the first picture is the Titanium and the second is the Transformer.  I just had someone else in my office check it from another computer and I see that it's the same picture.  Very weird that it's showing up correctly for me though.  I'll edit accordingly.

Sorry to everyone else for the confusion.

that IS the transformer version; you didn't have to go to GH for those photos...we have them here ::)

I couldn't find the Titanium picture here (not for lack of trying), that's why I went to GH.  OF COURSE I'd like to get my info here, and post it accordingly. ;)

And I know that's the Transformers version, that's why I said it was...

There is also a Star Wars Transformers version in the works:

Thanks for watching my back HoTF.

Found this at GH:

There is also a Star Wars Transformers version in the works as well:

Again, I don't think that a 3 3/4 inch version is out of the question.

I seem to remember seeing a Titanium picture from ComicCon that had a Clone Wars re-paint of the ARC-170, so I don't think that it's an unreasonable request to see it in 3 3/4 scale.  They released the Republic Gunship in both Titanium and 3 3/4 this year, so why not?

Boy, where to begin.  I guess the first thing I need to do is blame BrentS for everything! ;)  If it wasn't for him bringing that Animated Clone Wars Yoda into work I would have never paid attention to collecting figures.  Then he just had to bring in the Dagobah Yoda and Luke from the OTC line.  I was hooked after that.

I had my small collection of Vintage figures and vehicles that I had socked away to show my kids once they were older.  I was fine with that.  Life was good.  My wife was happy.

Then BrentS showed me a bunch of loose figures that he had and a checklist of all the carded/boxed stuff he had.  When I took it upon myself to look these lines up on ebay, that was the end of it.  Within about 6 months, I had almost the complete EP1 and Saga figures (sans errors/variants), most of the Clone Wars figures and vehicles, was starting in on the OTC line and was licking my chops at the release of ROTS.  Midnight Madness is something I won't soon forget.  A few grand and a couple fights with the wife and here I am today, the proud owner of about a dozen or so 1.5 cubic foot boxes filled with carded figures, vehicles, beasts, BattlePacks, Evolutions and everything else 3 3/4 inch in size.  All waiting for my kids to grow up so I, I mean, they can play with them. ;D

Oh, and did I mention that he was the one that got me hooked on Force FX lightsabers?  He just had to go and buy one for his son's birthday.  That was it...  I'm now the proud owner of the Vader, Anakin, Luke and Maul double bladed sabers.

Lastly, he's also my pusher.  I give him a list of what I want/need and he makes all the early morning toy runs and comes in with bags of figures on a regular basis.  I know that I could refrain from telling him what I want, but he would buy them and bring them in anyway.  What are friends for?

I just hope he doesn't start collecting Sideshow, Gentle Giant, Attackus or anything else I could get hooked on...

Thanks buddy, I'm glad I met you!

The Original Trilogy / Re: 'From Star Wars to Jedi' Documentary

Thanks for the insight guys.  I actually wasn't aware of the SW and ESB documentaries you both mentioned.  I think that I am going to pick up FSWTJ the next time I see it up for auction.  I think that the last one I saw sold for $5 including shipping.  At that price how can I say no?!

The Original Trilogy / 'From Star Wars to Jedi' Documentary
« on: August 18, 2006, 04:32 PM »
I was watching the original VHS release of the OT (circa 1980's) this past week in anticipation of the DVD release next month and came across the preview add for the 'From Star Wars to Jedi' documentary that was supposed to be released at the same time.

Does anyone have a copy of this?  If you do, does any of the footage match the footage that was in documentary in the OT DVD releases from 2005?  I just wonder if it's worth tracking down a copy on VHS from ebay or another source.  If it's the same footage that was used for last year's documentary then I won't bother.

Let me know.  Thanks.

Thanks Jeff for creating that link.  Hasbro responded to my e-mail about 5 minutes ago, but attached a .pdf version of that document and I had no idea how to get it into this response.  You definitely saved me the trouble!

Picked up a Mace Saber today at Costco for $49.97.  Might be worth checking out.  They were with the toys.

WOW, that is an awesome price! :o  I would consider getting one myself at that price, but unfortunately where I am in IL, the Costco's don't carry them.  Any chance I can convince one of you CA guys to pick one up for me and ship it my way, if they are still available?  Send me a PM if you're interested.  Thanks.

I think I Am Sith mentioned emailing Hasbro about it today Rob but didn't mention a reply yet...

Monday morning and still nothing back from Hasbro.  I'll make sure I post right away if I hear anything.

BTW, did any of you hear that WM has started their clearance for the VTSC figures?  I read $3 in some areas.

I just e-mailed Hasbro to inquire about the order form that comes with Luke and whether or not it's still needed.  If I get a response back from them I'll make sure to post it.
