Wow!  I can't believe stores had that much stuff back in the day!  Cool to see so much of it on the shelf like that.  Funny to see the cardboard shipper with vintage 4" figures on it - looks pretty much the same as the display shippers Wal-Mart still uses today.

I know where I'm going as soon as they get the time machine working properly...

Where's Marty McFly, Doc Brown and the Delorean when you need them?

That Star Bird was an awesome toy. It was the first I owned that could sense that it was tilted up or down and changed the engine noise it made accordingly. The plastic wings tips also slide off like mini ships. That photo just brought back a rush of memories to me. Most Star wars toys I bought back in the day were from much smaller displays in hardware stores and small chain stores. If I ever saw a display like that I think I would have passed out as a child. Thanks for sharing the pics.

I had this as a kid too and loved it. I actually still have the "head" of the ship but I pulled it out a few months ago and was crushed to discover it no longer made the sound effects. This is definitely on my list of things to "re-buy" as an adult.

Wow! Just like I remember it. Everything in black and white! I'm glad they invented color in the '80s.

Don't have one of the racks (how cool would that be?) but I do have one of the shelf display boxes for the 12 backs.
