Joe Defender / G.I. Joe Toys Thread
« on: August 1, 2009, 02:11 AM »
Picked up Cobra Commander tonight, gotta say, his design has kind of grown on me over the past little while, so I'm liking him qite a bit. I think that about does it for me for this line I'd say, not too much else coming that really interests me.

Other Toy Lines / What toyline would you like to see?

My #1 choice would be a 3 3/4" Lord of the Rings line. Just seems perfect for this scale with all the army building potential, and it has a great slew of visually interesting characters to choose from. Collectible wise LOTR has been kind of dead in the water as of late, Sideshows 12" offerings seem to have fizzled out of existence, the toybiz 6" line has been long dead, the only thing I see these days are the occasional gentle giant busts. Why no love for Rings?
Now with the Hobbit movie coming up soon, perhaps we may see a resurgance interest in this property. I'd love to see Hasbro take up the property, if they had the same quality as the Star Wars stuff. Anyone agree? What else would you love to see done?

Heh, yeah, i know we'll probably only get about 60% of the stuff up here, but that can be said about any toy line, which sucks of course, but what can ya do right? I'm by no means going to go completist on this line though , as what I do have in the 6" scale I do enjoy, but I got into Legends kind of late so I missed a lot of the big names. So far what I've picked up I don't have in the larger scale and rather than try to score them on ebay for way too much, or hope Hasbro eventually brings back the 6" line and makes them in that scale, I'll just have a smaller scale marvel collection on the side to make up for what was missed. Like everyone here though, I kinda wish they'd started in this scale too.

Galactus does indeed look fantastic, and I think that may be the tipping point for me getting into this line. I've been on the fence for a while, having only bought 2 figures, but seeing all the new stuff revealed, many characters that I either missed or were never released in the 6" scale has made me seriously consider swapping out the 6" stuff for the 3/34' stuff, since I do prefer that scale anyway. I've picked up 4 more of the Universe guys that I didn't have in the 6" scale, Ronin, Hand Ninja, Stealth Armor Iron Man and Thing and I gotta say, they're really growing on me.

Yeah, Walter Peck kinda puzzled me too. I think the big selling point for him though is that he comes with the ghost containment unit, which is a pretty large assesory.

The Wonderbread He-man figure is the bonus figure you get if you sign up for the subscription also. He won't be available in any other way.

Crap, I think I'm probably down for both sets. I really hope that Wal-Mart exclusive set is easier to find this time around (not to mention available in Canada) To release such an important and in demand character like the Joker in that wave leaves me puzzled. All of em look cool though, loving that Kilowog!

Well I think they just sold me on the subscription service, I don't want to miss any of these, all freakin spectacular! Also, for anyone interested, Orko has been confirmed for a 2010 release as well! Wooo! Orko!

I voted Deadpool, Valkyrie and "Blackbolt" who i beleive is supposed to be Bi Beast, I think the name is a typo. Black Widow was my #4.

Kal Fas looks cool, but I think the lack of a neck kind of throws me off on him. He really seems like a head sitting flat on the shoulders. Definitely pumped to get him though. Bit of a shame that theres no cool assesories coming with them though, especially the girl, she's so tiny, one of those tables would have increased her value a bit more.

Holy crap! I want one of those things hardcore! I had the original Battlecat as a kid and this one is just freaking amazing. i don't care how much it costs, I'm going to buy it.

EEEE! Cool! Not at all who I was expecting but a most welcome addition. The cantina is fairly devoid of the female species so this will fill in the scene quite nicely. Now I wonder who the other alien will be!

I'm on the fence too, partly because I'm not sure how completist I'm willing to go, and partly because Matty still hasn't specified whether or not you can change the shipping address of the subscription service, since I move in July. You'd think they'd be able to.....but they can be somewhat behind the times when it comes to things like this....
