Title: Medicom Toy Exhibition '09 (Parco Show)
Post by: Jeff on June 19, 2009, 02:20 PM
There are days when I really, really wish my japanese was better.  First reports out of the Parco show...

- it sounds like a new DELUXE SERIES program will be launched.  From what I can translate, it sounds like the first two deluxe series were being shown at Parco.  It sounds like (and this hasn't been confirmed or fully explained yet) there may be some sort of "build a" something feature incorporated, which is what makes is a "deluxe" series...

- I have also heard (but not been able to confirm or corroborate) that a Kubrick AT-ST was shown - no idea if it's a "for sale" item or just set dressing for the exhibit.  Working to lock that down...

Again, it's all rumor for now, but it sounds cool so far...  hopefully I'll have more soon.  8)

HOLY :o!  If that's the case, I hope we get some more Ewoks to step on too!

Heck, I thought you were going to like the fact that I said I wanted to use them as speed bumps...  Ok, no Ewoks then.  How about an AT-ST Driver and a Han in AT-ST Driver disguise?

How about an AT-ST Driver and a Han in AT-ST Driver disguise?

Those are both cool ideas for future ROTJ figures.  A figure with a natural chase figure.

With the Deluxe Series, each figure will be more "detailed" hence the Deluxe crown.
Series 1 will be EP6 themed and center around Jabba. Each regular figure will come bith a bonus part...collect them all and you get a diorama/figure. The diorama for S1 looks to be Jabba's den. The bonus parts from S2 will turn into, yes, an AT-ST!!
I'm not sure if there were any new 400%s that were shown at the show.
I might head out today and see if i can get a peak...

I'm a Japanese translator (professionally). Where is the original Japanese page?

I am ecstatic about these new releases BTW!

These deluxe sets are going to cost the earth. I can only hope they pack them in such a way that reduces the price.

I'd still like to see the original Japanese that was alluded to earlier to see if I can glean some more info about these.

OK, there's not a lot there that we haven't already heard, but it sounds as if the "build-a-figure" for Deluxe Series #1 will include Jabba himself as well as his throne. So I guess you can't buy Jabba by himself. There doesn't seem to be any indication of how they will be sold, but since it's a build-a-figure, you can guess that it won't just be a boxed set. The whole point of it is to get you to buy all of the figures in the series.

It looks like Series 11 was also announced at the show (and possibly shown...there looks to be a Stormtrooper or Clone next to R2-D2?

Title: Re: Parco Show
Post by: Symposium on June 20, 2009, 03:14 PM
Yeah posted this pic in the parco thread but to me it looks like R2D2 has sand on his "feet"

Also is that a clone troopers arm on the left?

in the left is a Darth Vader and Stormtrooper Be@rbrick 2 pack ;)

I went today,  the r2d2 and c3po are to be released as a two piece set.

The R2 looks like he has sandy feet, as mentioned somewhere previously, but are there any noticeable differences on the C3PO?  I suppose he could be sandy as well, but that'd be hard to telll.

Also, here's a pic I found that might be that white arm that's cutoff to the left:

a Vader/Stormtrooper bearbrick set:

Yeah I mentioned about R2D2's feet being sandy but I'm beginning to think it's shadow or something. As for C3PO I can't see anything different about him and I think he may just be there to create a "Tatooine Two Pack" (assuming R2D2 is sand covered).

I think some one said the arm was from a bearbrick two pack and thus I now have officially no interest.

I don't think the feet are sandy I think those yellow areas are actually the hoses (http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Collectibles/Kubrick/Box_Sets/Early_Bird_Set&image=EBkitgroup.jpg&img=&tt=).

If we get re-releases of these guys, I'd like to get a shiny C3PO like the new 400% one.  Not sure we need another R2, but if so, how about a muddy swampy deco?

So we don't have any real confirmation on a Series 11?

I'm not sure how I feel about a "repacked" 3PO and R2-D2.  My 3PO does a defect so I'd like to get a new one some day but I don't know I need it from a set like this.

Unless there is something markedly different with these I'll pass. They would have had me if they gave 3PO the vac-metal treatment like the 400%.

Same here - holy crap.  Anyone have any idea how the Deluxe sets are going to work?  I'm wondering about the box/case sizes and thoughts on how muhc more these are going to cost us.   :P

Nope, no information at this point about how/when they are being released.  I'm confident had it been put out there for general consumption Jeff would have posted the details for us.

Well based on what we know so far it would be easy to speculate about the release. I personally think that they will be released like a normal series but with double sized individual boxes to accommodate the jabba and AT-ST pieces. As for case sizes I guess the 12/24 sizes wouldn't be too much of a problem.

I just hope that the jabba/AT-ST pieces are consistent in each individual box and that chases don't foul them up either.

I`m thinking the build a parts will be totally random, with some parts harder to get than
others. I think we`ll be doing some trading to get our sets complete.

I never thought about random assortment of build a parts.  But you are right, I could see this happening!  Thjis may make the Master Case an important purchase again.  Dang.

That would suck hard, but would fit in well with Medicom's strategy of sucking my bank account dryer than it already is.  If so, I will probably forget the BAFs and just target getting the figures that I want.  The Superhero Squad/Galactic Heroes Jabba could look worse, right? :(

What a deliciously evil prospect but never fear I'm sure the bay will be full of spare parts!!

True, probably enough so that you could just buy the parts to build these without buying the kubs (the horror!). I can see people clamoring to construct multiple AT-ST for sure.
Can`t wait to see!

Just got back from Japan and the PARCO event.  I see that others have mentioned the two deluxe items, they are very cool!  I dont know either how they will be sold.  I think others have noted that you'll have to get all 6 to get all the extra pieces.  They had nothing there to indicate how they will be packaged.

The C-3PO paired with R2, while not vac-metallic like the upcoming 400%er, looks to be more gold than the initial version from the Early Bird set.  In fact, it looks identical to the ROTJ Deluxe series C-3PO with Salacious Crumb, except for the pulled-out eye.

I always thought the Early Bird Threepio color/tint was too yellowy/gray, drab gold, and not orange enough, if that makes sense.  Though I'd love a vac-metallic 100% C-3PO (and an R2 with vac-metal shiny silver dome, for that matter), this is enough of a difference for me to get him.

Heck, I'm still looking for the Scout Trooper that came with the Speeder Bike, even though his only difference from the regular series 7 version is dirty feet.  :)

Yes, Medicom has confirmed that as of right now, there are no plans for a true "Series 11".   There was the Fett sett, then the Deluxe Series take over.
