Newbies / Re: Vader's Fist Arrives
« on: April 30, 2006, 10:43 PM »
Jesse James:  Yeah, I know JD isn't just about customs,  I 've peaked into the other sections and have posted in them to.  But alas i can't compare my collecting experiences with you guys cause of the following reasons.

1: I can't check out stores daily and my cash flow is somewhat eratic (but I am getting a summer job)
2: They seem to ship less stuff to Hawaii and not everything makes it to our stores.
3: Price scalpling sucks here, average figures are $7-15 in retaila and in the secondary markets (swapmeet)
4: Not one single Target on the island at all, plus Wal-mart restocks too infrequently and too eratically.

For example, found both a #41  Clone and a SAGA 06 AT-AT driver at the swapmeet today. $10 each, I had twenty so I just bought the clone,  wanted both, but have other things I need to pay off to.  If they were more abundant in the stores at $6-7 then I would buy more.  On the average I pay $10 per figure.  If I am lucky I'll find them on clearance or somebody is just getting rid of them for cheap.  Happened only twice in the last 5 years.  Also when your 15-17 years old it becomes harder to get your parents to buy stuff for you,  plus they wouldn't let me get a job until this summer.  So its pretty rough to find reasonably priced figures here, even loose ones are hard,  they average $3-10 each (usually $6)

Everything here has an inflated value cause of shipping and the amount that gets here.  The Target clones brought over by the dealers, usually went for $25 if your lucky - $40 each.

But all in all the biggest problem is availability.  Hasbro is doing a bad job over all but Hawaii gets the worst of it because we are a island.

I am mostly looking for cheap or relativly cheap fodder for customs right now.  I have lists on JD and FFURG of what I want, and of my limitations,  so please help me  I guarantee that what you guys and girls trade to me will be put to good use.

As for collecting, my Christmas was when ROTS first came out and just before the DVD came out,  other than that I've seen nothing much.  The amount of VOTC and VTSC is pitiful to.  I only have one VOTC Boba Fett.

Thanks for the welcome and glad you guys liked my intro.  Want more laughs?  Look in the hey Hasbro section and read my post on the Han Solo/flight to Alderran thread.

Cue theme music (temple assault ROTS).  March, march, march. Hey! Lord Vader isn't in front of me!.  Where's my brothers?  Damn where am I?  Jedi Defender.com?  Must execute Order 66.  Where are the Jedi!!! Wait where's the freaking temple?

Oh its a forum, guess I might as well introduce myself.  VF/501 reporting for duty sir!  I did advanced scouting and determined there were Jedi here.  Where are you hiding them?  What no jedi?  You lie!!!  I've seen Metaljedi, Rollajedi, Tonywankenobi, and you tell me there are no jedi!!!

What was that? Its only a forum you say, oh um, sorry.  Clone trooper singlemindedness ya know,  we get pretty focused on are objectives.  Anyways I am from Kamino or is it Hawaii?  Well it has alot of water around it whichever one it was.  I do custom work on Star Wars, no not my armor, my figures.
My Minimes.  I make, ARC troopers, villians, aliens.....

Anyway, as a Clone trooper I palce high value on comraderie, which is adbundant here so I think I'll stick around (if ya have a problem with that you can talk to my DC-15, hehe),  I also post at FFURG but I lack a digital camera, so no pics of my customs yet.  Just trying to get a feel of the forums and make friends, and trading partners.  I can be highly critical of your guy's and girl's customs but I also desire crtiques on mine once I post pics.  I will also offer suggestions and praise, and I desire only acceptance and respect because that is what I have for everyone here (except *******s). ;D

I think you all do excellent work and I live by the motto that there is always room for improvement.

BTW until I get a digital camera you'll have to suffer through all of my suggestions, critiques, and jokes and I'll be invulnerable from yours bwahahahaha.

Found the temple.  Oooh gotta go shoot a jediscum in the back,  see ya later.

How about this:

GAS- Grand Army of the Solos

They needed a template for the clone army, and who better to choose than expert gun fighter and pilot, the one the only the amazing CANTINA HAN SOLO!!!!.  He flies he shoots and even has a wookiee side kick!!!.  Complete your army now.  The Han Solo Clone Army, get yours now!!! (yes we're scaming you collectors with our various subpar, repacked figures, but hey were greedy and we want your money)

Also get the EE exclusive limited edition Star Wars, Clone Wars Infinities Boba Solo,  the great Han Solo requested one unaltered clone to be his son, who will become the greatest smuggler in the galaxy! (yes we are bull $%!##!^& you collectors again, but as long as we say exclusive and make it any way we want you guys buy it,  why should we make an effort?).

The above is how I think Hasbeen does their job. Whattaya guys think?  With how many different Cantina Hans that they released you could make GAS (hahahah).  The sculpt in general is ok but the left arm sucks.

Come'n would any of you complain is they released the VOTC/VTSC Han Solos as much as this one?  I think not.  Hasbeen needs to get a clue and start listening to us again,  for one they'd make more money and second they wouldn't waste materials on useless toy lines and variations and figure molds.

Who's with me!!!

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: 2003 Clone Wars Republic Gunship
« on: April 28, 2006, 02:31 AM »
What I would like to see is a perfectly scaled to the figures version (proper height, width, length, etc.),  With the interior cabin beneath the cockpit, the four slot rack for the speeder bikes, properly sized side mounted bubble turrets, with the roof of the troop bay having the equipmint netting, NO ACTION FEATURES!!!  and real ball turrets in the front.  That would be the best vheicle ever.

Oh yeah, with SA clone pilot and trooper packin figures, and a Cargo version, as seen in EP II, with AT-TE sold separately.

I would pay very well for those, easily $100- $200 for each one,  who's with me on this?

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Mail away SA AOTC Clone?
« on: April 28, 2006, 02:12 AM »
Thanks guys, just wanted to know if it was athentic cause I shelled out $11 bucks for it (I need SA clones, lots of em).  After I fixed the waist, it became a verrrry nice custom Alpha.

I just wondered cause of the unusual card it came on.  I never did see many of the new ROTS stuff here in Hawaii.  We get left out quite a bit,  not having a Target here hurts, alot.

Thanks again, the info is much appreciated.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Any TSC Pegwarmers?
« on: April 27, 2006, 07:16 AM »
Over here, any VOTC or VTSC is gone the moment its out  (sometime even before that, damn extended families that have friends and family memebers that work there, grrrrrr.) As for peg warmers, read

 one or two Leia, boushh
Han, carbonite
scads of Bib fortuna and Barada
one Yoda
one Chewbacca, prisoner
one Colonel Bren Derlin

all at 6.99 to 7.99

and thats all folks not even a stinking Vader, Sun Fac or the Poggle rehash, plus we get everything later and in lower quantities down here in Hawaii.  Can some one pick me up at least 2-4 Sun Facs?  I'll trade for'em, either figures or custom fodder.

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Mail away SA AOTC Clone?
« on: April 27, 2006, 06:55 AM »
I got a question.  Has anyone heard about a mail away SA clone or one that comes as a bonus in a vehicle or figure pack?

I am asking because I found and bought a AOTC SA clone at the swap meet and it was was on a plain bubble with a plain red card back.  And a sticker that just said clone trooper attached to the out side of the bubble.  Is this a genuine hasbro product?

Anyways I popped it off the card and the waist was really loose on both points of articulation, plus the feet had peg holes unlike the CW SA trooper.  However it does have the hasbro name and place of manufacture on the proper foot.  I am confused.

As for the interior I popped both it (popped real easy without boiling, like there was no glue at all) and a ROTS SA clone.  This is how I found the problem with the waist.  The central peg is a styrene plastic and the rings on the sides are round and lack the squares to prevent turning in the mounting brackets (fixed it with superglue though, and I retained articulation).  This is completely different from the ROTS version.  Has any one popped a CW or EE version?  If so, is it like the ROTS or like how I described?

I want to know if mine is a bootleg SA or not.  If it is a bootleg, its a pretty well made one because with a few interior mods of the torso and some limb swaps with my busted ROTS SA, it made  a damn good template for my SA custom Alpha.

LMK your guy's theories and opinions on this.  Thanks.

Thanks CHEWIE.  Just thought I'd ask about Rykrof because you created him and to me that means you own the rights to the character.

Anyways, I can't wait to start either, the only thing stopping me is the lack of a camera, photoshop, and customizing resources for clones and droids.

However I am fairly creative so I can get around the lack of fodder, but trying to design working, custom made equipment packs for the troops is hard.  Side packs that hang down from the waist are fairly simple but I am getting screwed up by the back packs.

Made holsters, and a binoculars pouch for my Alpha custom, and they're pretty cool.

I need fodder though, so any trades or donations will be appreciated, esp, casted jangoclone heads with ball jointed neck posts.

Hi everyone, great customs and great photonovels CHEWIE, I read'em all and they're wonderful.  Can't wait for you to reach the end of the clone wars and the reorganization of the Republic's officer corps.  I wonder how Rykrof would do when they did that.  Remember the comic where Vader strangled the two officers that protested to Palpatine?  Thats the situation I'm thinking about.

Anyways, I am thinking of starting one when I get a digital camera,  which should be two months from now (saving up slowly so I can still customize at the same time, plus I am graduating from HS this year, stress!!! :o).

The story entirely fanfic, and takes place during the clone wars.  Its about a small 4 man squad of alpha batch ARC troopers.  It takes place a little before the swith to phase 2 armor and the troopers are the field testers of the armor.  It will follow them to the end of the war and their reaction to Order 66.  It will show how they grow beyond their programing (think Jangotat) and gain their humanity.

There will be cameos by Alpha, Anakin, Obi wan, and other main characters, possibly even Rykrof, with CHEWIE's permission of course.

I am still working on the customs, see my needs list for what I need to make characters for this PN,  I will update the list with parts for the characters I need to make.

LMK what you guys think, support and advice are greatly apprecciated,
thanks everyone.

Star Wars Action Figures / New Member (sort of)
« on: April 23, 2006, 07:09 AM »
Hi every one.  Some of you already know me from the FFURG forums, but this is my first time posting a topic here.

Anyways,  been working on my customs for a bit, but as some of you know I don't have a camera so know pics yet.  But once I get one and take some shots I'll post'em.

For those of you that don't know me, I'll descrbe my customs as best I can.

SA Grievous: I added articulation to the ankles (top and bottom), hips, elbows and upper arms. Then I straightened the right side hand.

Ankles: Added a ROTS battle droid elbow to the ankle and used the post and the ball and socket joint of a gundam for the feet.
Arms: Added ROTS battle droid elbows in the place of the originals, cut the elbows off a EP I bdroid and cut the Grievous arms below thw shoulder armor and slightly above the new elbows.  then glued the EP I pieces in, so that the arm can rotate.
Hips: Popped off the legs, cut and removed the post that held them.  then glued in to ball joints from a gundam and popped the legs onto those.

WIP Deluxe SA Galactic Marine: Built by chopping up multiple figures.

Dremeled out a POTF2 AT-ST pilot head so the helmet could fit on top of a clone helmet.  Then cut a section out of an old white tee shirt to make the face cloth,  glued it into the AT-ST helmet in the proper position so the visor showed.
Then I dremeled out the front and back of the SAGA snowtrooper torso.  made it so it can fit over the clone armor and trimmed the bottom a little.  Added straps to the top to hold the front and back together.  Then I added snap ons to the bottom side so  the armor can be taken on and off.  For the straps I used a SAGA endor trooper's gun strap, all sliced up and the snap on point from two of the CW ARC troopers Kama.
Drilled a hole in the back of the SA clone to match up with the snow trooper armor.  Then I cut off the pelvis with a dremel and glued the SAGA 06 han in carbonite pelvis in its place.
The kama and legs are still WIP and so is the paint job.

WIP Phase 2 armor ARC troopers- FanFic 2x

Used the SA clone, the #33 clone commanders kama and head, the ARC troopers paldron and guns, extra SA clone belts ( for the pouches), straps from the weapons of 12" army figures and vinyl sheets from a black binder cover to make holsters and pouches.

You'll see them once I get a camera.
