Title: Sansweet segment on the history channel - (let me ask you something)
Post by: Xander on December 15, 2004, 09:14 AM
I recorded this from the History channel show, and put it up here:
www.aswcc.dreamhost.com (http://www.aswcc.dreamhost.com)

This file is giant. Its a DVD quality mpeg2, so it will take a while to download.  I've re-encoded it, but it always turns out too pixelated or full of artifacts.  (I used the womble editor).  I'd like to quickly re-encode it to make it more download friendly.  Any know of a tool good for this? (MPEG2 -> MPEG1).

Hey, thats where I got it from yesterday. Thanks, never got the show up here.

Hopefully someone can help you out with re-encoding it. It took me almost an hr. to download but it was worth it.  8)

For some reason it was already over when I thought I was supposed to tune in.

Downloading now.

Thanks!

Well, I didn't try downloading it, so I don't know how many megs (or gigs) this file might be, or what size you are looking to convert it to. But there are a ton of free programs designed to convert mpeg to a divx avi file, which should probably only be a few megs, since that segment was only about 20 minutes. I've downloaded 20 minute movies that were about 100 - 125 megs, so that is a file size you should shoot for.

Anyway, there are way too many to list, but I would recommend checking out VideoHelp.com (http://www.videohelp.com) and just use their directory to find a program that suits your needs. There are also plenty of great guides there for most of these tools that will give you step by step directions on how to convert your file.

Good luck!!

It says it's 453 megs as of now.

Thanks, if I have time tonight I'll read up and produce an easier file.

I have the entire show on my computer, but just this segment would be better. Thanks for the link, dude.

Here we go. There's a second smaller one up now - 92.5M.  Much better for downloading.

The other one's suitable for a Sansweet DVD.
