I just wanted to say, I truely appreciate you guys referring to me BY NAME. So many other sites make it seem so taboo to refer to others by their given names, you know?
As fruity as it may seem, I just like the level of camaraderie
on this site. Thats going to prove to be a strong, strong quality of JD, aside from the friendliness and professionalism, thats going to do alot of great things for the site, as well as pull some quality members to the forums.
So, thanks again, and by the way..my name is Cory. ;D
-
That was one of the first things I noticed here! As soon as I started posting, people were saying "Welcome Adam!" I was honestly suprised that a lot of these people even knew my name! Its great to see you over here Cory, looks like we are well on the way to building one heck of a group!
-
Your very Welcome Cory & Adam. :)
We try to get to know members by there name. IMO, it's alot better than going by there user name. Sort of a big happy band of Defenders here. ;)
Have a blast & enjoy the site.
Dale. ;)

It is a dream come true to hear that you guys are so happy with the way we run JediDefender. The things that you love the most about us, are what we are based on. My first news post at JediDefender stated our mission: Community and Content. Our philosophy has proven to work very well and we are greatful to have you. I look forward to to the coming weeks and months as we continue to expand and grow.
Thanks to all! :)

Feel free to call me Michael or Mike. :)
Now comes the task of learning and, more importantly, remembering, all of your real names.
-
I like to think of this forum as a place where friends hang out and discuss a hobby which we all enjoy, after all thats what its all about to me.I dont get chances to get online much anymore so when I do I dont want to be wading in a cesspool full of flame wars and post padders.
I go to forums for the benefit of my hobby and not to argue with others about pointless and lame subjects.I think the help and discussion that this group of people bring to the table is right up my alley.
Just my 2 cents.
Mike ;D
-
I'm usually afraid to use real names, in fear of accidentaly using the wrong name. For example =
Feel free to call me Michael or Mike. :)
Please excuse me for calling you Micheal all this time. :)
Anywho, I'm Brad. 8)
-
Yes, JediDefender is basically like Cheers, where everybody knows your name... :)
Well, forum names are fun to have and often quite clever in the ways of SW, but yes - I much prefer using everybody's real name when I feel I'm familiar enough with them to do so. Much more personal that way...
I'd like it to seem like JediDefender is a place where we're all just hangin' out together, buddies just shootin' the sh...well, you know what I mean. I want to really get to KNOW my fellow JD forum members as friends, and not just as some random forum user telling me about his/her favorite color... That's one of the primary reasons why I spend time in these forums - not just to let others know what I think about things Star Wars or otherwise, but to actually make friends, good friends at that.
So with that in mind, I just wanted to say "hey" to some of my good buddies here at JD: Chris, Thomas, Scott, Brad, Dale, Chris R., Adam, Jared, Brent, David, Cory, Jim, Wayne, John L., Jesse, Mike, Matthew, John B., and of course you too Michael! ;) That goes for everyone else who I've failed to mention here as well... Glad to have such a good group of buddies here at JD! I look forward to making many more good friends in the future here as well... :)
-
Chris Rhoads is the name I represent.
-
It is nice to get to know some people on a first name basis. It adds a better feel to the group. More like an online friend than just an id.
For those who don't know mine yet. Its Wayne
-
Hey all. If we want to do the name thing, I suggest putting your name in your sig, so after every post u make, your name is always there, ya know? ;D
I am James BTW. I've been posting at SCUM and some people told me to come over and check these boards out, and they seem very nice :)

Just out of curiosity how come your name isn't in your signature then? Hmmmm?????
;)
-
cause i had just signed up for these forums and made the post before i could enter my profile info. :-\
-
That's an awesome idea, James, I'm now adding my name to my sig (it used to be in my name). ;)
-
Very good idea. I'll follow.
-
It does add a feel of community.
Mikey or Mike is fine, but never Michael. Only the wife calls me that.
-
alrighty then! Heh ok guys I agree with becoming more familiar so my name is Frank. ;)
-
Click here (http://www.jedidefender.com/jdtheme.mp3) to listen to our little theme. :P This might take a while for 56K modem users. :-X :D
-
I prefer "Friends" by Led Zeppelin... At JediDefender, "You got love, you ain't lonely."
-
Hmm, at least one of those comments seemed really familiar ;)
You can call me rlama llama ding dong (RLDD for short). I used to have that until someone here gave me a new designation. ??? Sigh.
-
I see a lot of this on the forums so I'll let you guys know my name is Leonard, but most of my friends and my girlfriend and parents call me Lenny
-
Yep, JD is definitely a first name basis kinda place! 8)
Lenny it is then, 'cause we're all buddies around here FX! My name's Matt, but some folks just call me Matt. You can refer to me by either and I'll figure it out... :P But if you refer to me as JediMAC, I'll probably have no idea what you're talking about... ;D
Of course there's also another Matt now (Virex) and a Matthew too (FishEyedLouie). So just say "Matt" and I'm sure you'll get a fair number of responses... :P
-
My name's Matt, but some folks just call me Matt.
Or a real select few might call you by another name as you might recall from the chat room some weeks ago. :P
And everyone can call me Jim, though I think Matt probably has a few other choice names he'd like to use on me right about now. ;D
Just fixing your goofed up quote function J! - M
-
/me slaps Jim!
/me slaps Scott and Brent too, just for the hell of it...
Yeah, I suppose some folks like my "other" name - something to the effect of "TBM", if I recall correctly... Though I still say the label isn't deserved, as my "B" is pretty much the same as most other folks' "B's", I'd imagine... :-\ Geez, a 5 hour chat, several sodas and some water, and a guy can't excuse himself for a brief moment to take a leak... ::) :-X
-
TBM
[/size]
/me slaps Matt (1) right back
-
Snively here, but you guys can call me Grant, like most other people in out in the real world do! ;)
And can I take a stab at what the "B" stands for? I think I've got a pretty good idea. ;D
-
Just wanted to bump this thread up since we've got so many newer members recently... I might have to make a lil cheat sheet pretty soon, cause I'm bad with names...
Folks, put your first name in your sig, if you would. :-*
-
Jeff here. i was a little surprised to see people refer to me by my name in the n00b section. But I like it, it makes it seem more like a friendly community here :)
-
In case people don’t get it from my username, my real name is right there below my Avatar. So it’s Rob. My name is Rob. Rob.
Cheers,
Rob :)
-
This is one of the things I like so far here too.
One of the major thins that has been bugging me lately about Rebelscum is people's abiltity to change thier screen name s easily.
I mean, how can you trust someone who changes their online identity so easily, and refuses to use thier real name.
Scott
-
Andrew here,I'll add it to my sig.
-
Folks, put your first name in your sig, if you would. :-*
This if not a requirement of course, purely optional!
Personally, I don't much care for the "cheat sheets" myself. I like to learn folks names on my own just through conversation around the boards. But I guess it makes it easier for most people when the names are in the sigs. I'll have to throw a list in here of the few remaining "mystery members" who we still have no idea of a real name on... ;)
-
I know most everyone, but there's so many Matt's and Chris' now I mix Matt's and Chris' together... ??? :-X
-
I know most everyone, but there's so many Matt's and Chris' now I mix Matt's and Chris' together... ??? :-X
That's why I would just suggest calling me "dustrho" from now on. There are a bunch of Chris' here (and Matt's), so there are times when it would probably be best to use just the username. It's entirely up to the person though. You can call me whatever you want, Chris or dustrho. It doesn't bother me.
-
I thihk I'm the only Frank here so call me what you like but don't forget to call me for dinner! ;)
-
Hmmm. I don't like using "Real" names online...
So, feel free to call me Bushi. :)
-

If you forget someone's name Angry Ewok, just call them "Matt," and chances are you'll get it right in JD.
Are there more Matt's or Chris'? I think JediMAC told me there were at least 4 of the Matt-kind here.
-
I too believe in calling my friends by thier first name....after all.....aren't we all friends? I know I've traded or talked with most of the staff members at some point before joining JD......and most of us used to post in threads at RS and we'd converse there........so I consider all of you guys my friends.
As soon as I signed up I added my first name to my sig....I have nothing to hide...... ;D
-
Are there more Matt's or Chris'? I think JediMAC told me there were at least 4 of the Matt-kind here.
We had at least one more Matt add since you Matt (Dressel), so that puts us at at least 5 now, but I think there might be sixth one floating around somewhere...
I think we're still in the lead on the Chris's though!
- The Original Matt ;D

No, no, no. Ewoks must die, it's really that simple. Hairballs everywhere, coughing them up. Really quite disgusting.
Morgbug, Ewok Hunter ;)

Ewok hunter? Bah - haha! I hope you're better than your predecessors.

Indeed I am, angry little man. Indeed I am. :-*

-
Feel free to call me Karen.
-Karma/Karen
-
It's great to see you over here Karma (I can't help but use people's nicnames, it's what I know most by).
I'd not seen you post around yet, but nice to know a collector so willing to help other collectors out is stopping by the site. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside I guess.
Between you, MAC, BDW, Cyberscout... Hell really most people I know that are helpful are coming around here. That's DEFINATELY some good news.
-
I just want to bump this up to the top since we've had a lot of new members join up lately.
-
I have a habit of typing my name at the end of each post.
Like such:
Kevin

I'm Chris... ;D
