You'll soon be abdicating possession of these to a more suitably targeted audience.   ;)

Ain't that the truth... both boys wanted a closer look at (er, taste of) the Cantina 2-Pack while I was opening up my sets tonight.

Still too little to play with them, but they sure love to try!   :D

Feedback / Re: Scott's feedback
« on: February 23, 2007, 04:24 PM »
Cleaning up some old PMs, I realized I forgot to leave feedback for our recent deal.  Scott helped me complete my '06 Saga collection by mailing me a figure from the deep South.

Thanks again Scotty.   :)

The story resurfaces every time there's nothing else to talk about in the baseball world.

And A-Rod is happy to talk about it this year... keeping the reporters focused on that trivial stuff keeps them from asking him about his contract and escape clauses and such.   ;)

No Marvel Kubricks, but there is news of a VCD Ghost Rider:

He will be an exclusive at the Winter Wonderfest 2007 along with the 400% Fett:

Kubricks / Re: Series 8
« on: February 23, 2007, 11:30 AM »
In the past were they debuted at the show first rather than the website????

It has happened more than once I believe...for instance the Biker Scout Speeder Bike Set, the Blackhole Kubrick and way back to series 2

http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=14548.msg17603#msg17603

So its happened, not too often but it has happened

Like Scott said, yeah in the past things have debuted at a show before making it to the website.

Another example is the 400% Fett - he showed up at the Parco show last summer before showing up on the website today.

I made a stop at Target on my way to work this morning and found the latest wave of 2-packs (Clone Wars/Tatooine).

I almost passed on the Clone Wars sets (Durge is such a lame character IMHO, he belongs in GI Joe not SW), but I figured what the heck because the CW Armored Obi-Wan was pretty neat and the ROTS Clone is always welcome.

All of the sets were just 1x per case, it looked like they put out 1 box of this case assortment - 1x each of the new sets, 1x each of the Bespin sets, then 4 older sets to fill out the box.

I saw that HasbroToyShop has a bunch of the SW Transformers on sale .

Nothing much new, but some nice deals if folks are looking for stuff...

Gentle Giant / Re: Gentle Giant Busts
« on: February 22, 2007, 09:19 PM »
Is that the first darth vader or is it some knock off?

He doesn't say Gentle Giant and I don't know if that's because this is some rip off or because it's lost in translation.

That is the bootleg - you can tell because it's missing the chain around his neck -

It's not easy to tell the difference, but like Gundam said, the bootleg doesn't have the chain around his neck, as seen in RS's pic here (which is still tough to see in their dark picture).

Other than the chain, it's pretty hard to tell the difference (when looking at pictures anyway, I don't have the real GG bust) unless you look at the bottom.  Interestingly, it has a Lucasfilm copyright from 2005 as The Encore Group.  I'm not sure if that is legitimate or not since I haven't been able to find out much about the company besides their website under construction.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Question for the Collectors with Kids
« on: February 22, 2007, 04:24 PM »
I know I'm already picking stuff up/packing stuff away for them when they are older - if they are interested.  I mean, they might not have the interest in Star Wars like I did, but I couldn't imagine having this many figures/ships/etc. to play with when I was a kid - it would have been fun :).

My dudes are only 7+ months old, so this is something I've been wondering too...

Like you're doing, I started picking up the GH figures and packing them away in the hopes that one day I'd have someone to play with them, so those figures will be handed over to L&L when Mom determines they are big enough to play with them (they'd have them now if I had my way  :P).

As for the basic figures/ships/playsets, I have no idea what to do... I don't think I'll let them have free reign of the SW room, but I can see myself doing something similar to Travis and "handing-down" some of the older sculpt PotF2 figures to the boys so they have their "own" figures for playtime.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: TSC Variations and Errors Thread
« on: February 22, 2007, 02:10 PM »
I picked up the variant light blue Holo Obi-Wan today...  :)

I was amazed at the color difference between the two.  I wish I would have known about this variant sooner as I already opened a dark blue one for my shelf.  The light blue one is such a better color match with the rest of the recent Holo figures.   :-\

Jocasta's Reading Room / Re: Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor

To be honest, I've never heard of the Battle of Mindor Endor Shmendor, or "Lord Shadowmort", it seems a tad forced to me.

You never heard of it?  It was only one of the greatest battles ever!

It was before they defeated Lord Puffington Pufferson and his Pufftroopers, but after they defeated Admiral Crunch and his Seatroopers.  You know, right around the time they stopped off at Living Island to visit HR Pufnstuff.

Get with the times, man!   ::)

I don't understand the point in these.

I'd much rather give a little kid a plastic toy than the die cast versions... die-cast can do more damage when chucked across the room.   :P

Kubricks / Re: Series 7
« on: February 22, 2007, 11:05 AM »
I have a few Scouts and they have varying degrees of holster work-ability (if that's a word).

Two of the Scouts have shallow grooves but the gun still fits (just barely, like Jay's picture shows), while the other two Scouts have a much deeper groove and the gun fits in nicely (handle first).

I guess your milage may vary for the ankle holster due to the molding process... :-\
