Damn you sir.   >:(

Why doesn't stuff like that happen to me?  Am I that much of a jerk that Karma has bit me in the ass?

ALso I have a model kit of Dagobah...  It's Yoda's hut.  It's incredibly detailed and well scaled to the 3.75" figures.  I've seen this customed into something pretty special just by cleaning up flash off it and painting it up and filling in "holes" for the items assembly.

The top of the hut is removable, so you can get your figures in and out easily, and it would be fairly simple to right lighting to it for someone truly ambitious.  I don't have space, as this was a project item I had on tap, so I'm selling this to the group for someone who can tackle it and has the time.

With extra effort it could really be an outstanding playset of Dagobah especially since we got Luke and Yoda with those cool bases last year, and R2 and Obi-Wan...  This is a great diorama waiting to happen from one of you.

PM me if you're interested in it, and here are some half-assed photos.  I'm doing the best I can with these. :)  I'm no Jared, I'll say that much.

There's an Evo Anakin in the one shot to show some scale...  Sorry for the dim photos, I'm not good at this stuff and my camera is barely a camera.  Hand-me-downs are fun!

It's a great piece, and I've seen it used in the past to great success, so hopefully someone can give this a good customs home.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Previews/Diamond Comics Bounty Hunter 7-Pack
« on: February 15, 2006, 04:15 AM »
Pittsburgh's last thriving Suncoast store got them in for $35 too which, for 7 figures, isn't bad.  If you've got kids that wanted a set or something ya know?  I'm pondering one for the boys because they like bounty hunters.  they hate unposeable figures, so I'll never hear the end of it, but they'll like the aliens and IG-88 and stuff I think.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...

All 3 sets are outstanding, it's a shame this "series" is done for the time being.  Hasbro has solid gold with these if they do more and they're done to this level of quality.

Like in my latest review of the Sith Lords set, the worst figure in the set is Maul and he's only the worst because he has angle-cut elbows instead of ball/socket elbows...  You really can't complain a LOT about that, it's minor at best, and the Maul is still easily the best incarnation of that character ever released in the line.  I'm content to never get Maul again unless they repack this sculpt of the figure with a cloth robe.  :)  Hasbro has a license to print money with these if they re-release them on basic cards mixed throughout the line for some years.

Instead though, we got the lame ROTS Duel Anakin repackaged...  Oh joy.

I was talking wth my buddy, a SW fan but not die-hard like on these sites, about how I think you could have rearranged the films having seen the CW toons in their entirety and how they fit within the prequal trilogy, and I was surprised (he's generally the kinda guy who likes SW but kind of enjoys picking on me for liking it "too much") he agreed with me.

For me, I'd have gone with this formula...

-AOTC would have been Episode 1...  Have Anakin found as a teen, Luke's age or so (draws a stronger parallel IMO and explains Yoda's reluctant desire to train Luke at that age if Ani had proven such a mistake), and have him trained by QGJ and Obi-Wan...  QGJ dies by Dooku's hand.  Eliminate the Darth Maul character totally or have Sidious toying with two pawn Sith Lord apprentices and do away with "There's only ever 2" crap or have them unaware of each other even.

-Clone Wars takes over as Episode 2...  Develope a single story to fill the 3 years of war (or at least portions of that 3 years, and still have cartoons filling these other gaps) that show Anakin's growth and rebellious nature to Obi-Wan, with the war sort of pushing them apart, his love of Padme developing (TPM didnt' do much for it IMO), etc...

-E3 leave it pretty much as-is with the war's end.

If you want, do an animated series that can include the podrace as something Anakin did in his youth that showed his ability...  Have Jar Jar's asinine behavior more focused in the toon that sort of replaces TPM...  Have it be short stories, not one long continuous one, and not intertwining characters like Obi-Wan, QGJ, and ANakin...  Just instead showing their earlier adventures each on their own.

That's just my thinking on it, in a brief format...  I think it would have made for a much more powerful Prequal trilogy myself.

The Bullpen / Re: Toy Biz Marvel Monster thing? Question
« on: February 15, 2006, 03:53 AM »
That's it exactly Inadvertant, I totally appreciate you digging that up for me.  I had no clue what it was, so thank you a million for that.  :)  I'm using it for a custom but would like more than one and to somehow make a bendable tale if I can figure out a method to do so.

I really appreciat eyou helping me find the name of that so I can look for these more specifically.

Thanks man.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Chap Mei

Hmm, are the squid's tentacles "bendy" like the DIanoga's grabber arm thingie?

They look kind of cool...  Always cool getting wildlife that may fit in a SW diorama of some sort.

I wish the figures were a better bit of fodder is all.  That's my only gripe really.

Yeah it could just be sensationalized, I'm just saying what I keep hearing from numerous places...  There was word LeClaire and Recchi were in on it too though and now that's not seemingly being talked about at all so I dunno.

I still thing chicks gambling heavily is a turn-off.  Reminds me of a fat Italian guy like Artie Lange and his heavy gambling issues...  I can't get it out of my mind is all, but yeah it could be completely false for all I know, it's just what is bantered about down here.

The US is definitely painting Gretzky badly, which is typical "Let's beef this up with the biggest name involved" while little is really being shown to go to him particularly, but rather other people around him...  But ya still gotta use his name to make the story big.

I'm not a huge golf fan but I think this year one big gig is coming to the Pittsburgh area's Oakmont Country Club.  It's right near my house...  Do any of you follow it enough to know what I'm talking about?  Bobafett14 lives right like 2 minutes from it.  This area is known for being a bit of a golf haven...  I'm not a golfer myself, but it's something I'd kind of like to try out.

I think it's safe to say the situation's handled...  Chris is, obviously, frustrated and I think you can chalk a lot of what he said up to that, but at the same time we're all a little upset on the staff but it doesn't have a baring on your guys' individual thoughts.  Like Jared said a few lines up there, this is pretty valid criticism, so I dont' think anyone's riding anyone's ass...  collective ass or individual ass even.

There are underlying variables that I know a lot of you don't quite follow and it's not because you're ignorant or anything, you just don't know what they were and the best answer is we're fixing them because they hurt our efforts here.

JesseVader deserves no blame obviously, and that's a wholely separate issue we'll be dealing with guys and I'm as hopeful he's here to stay as anyone else.

There's no anymosity to the guys voicing their thoughts on this like the great and powerful Coz, Dean Paul, or Darth Slothus...  Jared said it best that there's genuine concerns brought up, and we're addressing those now, so I hope that's the end of it and we're ready to move on from it.  Just try to bare in mind that "**** happens" is a good phrase to apply here and we'll be trying to make sure **** doesn't happen again because we obviously are no more happy than you guys are.  Imagine if you actually worked here the level of disappointment you'd have?  :)  Yeah, that'd suck.

I'm asking you guys though to take a step back and bare with us as we change things up where we need to.  While we're considered one of the top collecting sites, we also are small and we make things work here out of our own hard work with little outside help, so just bare with us please guys.  All your concerns are all our concerns...  Pardon all anger from us as we rebound, as I'm sure a lot of things are said just because frustration builds in with some of us is all.

The good news?

Toy Fair was about as fascinating as watching paint dry this year.  :)  Barely anything new was shown, and what was shown wasn't making me do backflips, so that's a plus.  At least this wasn't SDCC where usually some big bombshells drop and there's Q&A's to have Matt get in trouble at.  :)  See, you gotta be positive guys.  You gotta stop sending those negative waves! [/end oddball quotes]

It is $$, and we're talking about things.  Again apologies to our readers because we have delievered great coverage of Toy Fair in the past.  The best on the net I believe, and we're doing what we can with what we have...  It's a big complex thing.

CorranHorn is right though, there's more to this than you guys perhaps all realize.  there's a lot of talk in our admin areas that you guys don't see because it's all site business and it's a lot of work.  Jesse's been one of the best staffers here, he's not giving out BS answers...  There's issues at hand we're having to deal with and it's simply not easy guys.  And I ask that you respect that...  Hopefully we come back stronger because of this because we want to, that's for sure, but there are obstacles to overcome as with anything in life.

Believe me guys, NOBODY at this site is more disappointed in the Toy Fair issue than the staff.  Myself included.  So don't be upset and just try to understand that we're trying to remedy things and make sure stuff like this doesn't happen but that we do this all out of our own time, work, $, and effort, and because we want to.  Things can be better and hopefully they will be better, and hopefully you can bare with us while we turn it around.

First, knock off the fighting.

Second...  CorranHorn's defending us, so while I appreciate your thoughts Darth Slothus I'm going to back him on this.  He's got experience in this "business" and he knows the difficulties that come with it.  Fact is none of the rest of us were able to go, Dave was it, and Dave didn't...   Dave's raging sick, and the blizzard didn't help.  Irony of ironies is that one guy living close to the event (Dave's a bus ride away from NJ) turned out to shoot us in the foot rather than flying in one or two guys.  If that were the case we'd have been in on Friday and staying at a hotel if one or two of us could've made the trip, unfortunately that was neither the plan nor possible.

Jason's points are valid...  And now's not a good time to "come down" on this site though DeanPaul's got some good points going along with his post.  And believe me the site staff aren't all cheers and smiles at the situation, we're handling our business though and that's all there is to the situation.  Basically, what I'm saying is that we KNOW this is a problem, we're working on this now, and basically doing a pile-on from our membership's perspective isn't going to help matters.  Jason was defending us, and in my view he's right...  But we're working to better things because unlike other sites we work with a LOT less around these parts...  Yes, even some "small" sites have more base **** to work with than we do because of a number of reasons.

The fighting stops now though.  This isn't a good time to be duking it out in the forums.

I agree with that aeseven...  Lots of quality effort on that figure.  I see the Navy SEAL roots there with some of the parts, but there's unique elements that make sense for aquatic Clones like the head lamp, the bulk...  Short of a little propulsion accessory (a Sea-Do type thing, SW style) it's pretty unique.  The pistol's even cool as it looks special for that trooper.

And of course our current one from TRIER we have for the giveaway here at JediDefender.com is equally well thought-out I believe.  Some quality aquatic Clones out there for something not even seen in the films! :)

I've heard she bet like $500k in a very short span or some such (I haven't followed it too closely), which irregardless of how much you have financially that smacks of gambling addict to me.  Not just the cute chick playing a game of craps for kicks or some such...  it's just a turn off really.

Like I heard she put like a really high ammount on the coin toss in the super bowl, and bet $75k on the game itself or something?  I'm not sure...  That seems pretty out of control to me though.  If I was Gretzky I wouldn't want that setting an impression upon my kids, I dunno.
