Saga Collection '06 / Army Builder of the Year
« on: February 27, 2006, 05:20 PM »
I thought this might be a fun topic.  Something I don't think has been done before... Army Builder of the Year... going back from 1995... what do you think was the BEST army builder each year and what will be the best for 2006?  Here's my choices... excluding the VOTC or other "premium" figures -

1995 - POTF2 Stormtrooper - what else could you even choose from
1996 - POTF2 Jawa 2-pk
1997 - POTF2 Snowtrooper
1998 - POTF2 Death Star Trooper
1999 - POTF2 Commtech Stormtrooper
2000 - EPI Battle Damaged Destroyer Droid
2001 - POTJ Imperial Officer
2002 - SAGA Clone Pilot
2003 - CW SA Clone Trooper
2004 - SAGA TIE Pilot
2005 - ROTS SA Clone
2006 - SAGA2 AT-AT Driver

Again, I didn't include VOTC or Evolutions figures in the mix.

I'm really excited about the possibilities of that Death Star Gunner later this year though... hopefully it will be as good as I'm hoping and maybe even better than the new AT-AT Driver.

Saga Collection '06 / Boring characters... but want to see made.
« on: February 9, 2006, 03:20 PM »
Ok, how about a "least popular" characters thread, but you want a figure of them made anyway.   :)

I'll go with one from each film right now... might be kind of fun... feel free to play along.

The Phantom Menace - Rep Been - A pretty boring character, but an interesting design... for whatever reason, this is a character I really want made.  I just don't see it as something I can customize and look decent on my own, so I'd love to see it made.

Attack of the Clones - Cliegg Lars - An old man in a chair.  What's not to love.  True it would be boring as hell, but could be pretty cool... especially if they threw a surprise with a removable leg piece.

Revenge of the Sith - Mrs. Organa - Boring indeed.  But would be a surprise figure (of course I want the rest of the Lars family first) and might pegwarm, but would maybe be great custom fodder.

A New Hope - Academy Biggs... just seems like it would make for a neat figure.  Boring as hell, just the way a lot of the designs in ANH are, simple yet realistic.  I'd buy several.

The Empire Strikes Back - Orange flight suit Luke... imagine with removable Snowspeeder gear... kind of like the Veers snap on armor.  That might not really be a boring character though, so if it has to be boring, then maybe it's time for Ice Cream Maker Guy.

Return of the Jedi - CZ droid... these droids do absolutely nothing in the OT except walk around in an awkard manner and look outdated.  That's cool to me.

Photonovels and Movies / RE #20 - FINAL HOUR
« on: February 4, 2006, 10:09 PM »

As the final hour grows near before the execution of Republic Commander Rykrof Enloe, Jedi Master Kala Mly Shundi meets with Sith Lord Count Dooku in an attempt to learn the location of his friend.

“As I have told you, I have no connection to the terrorists holding your friend.  The only way to save him is to learn the ways of the Dark Side.  Only through the Force can you attain the power to find your friend… before it is too late.”

“Join me and not only will you learn the power to save your friends, but there will be no need for droids… or clones.  Or even for war,” Dooku says.

“I came here for help to find my friend, not to fall under your spell like Master Vos or the traitor Sora Bulq has,” Kala retorts.  “Your scheme to turn another Jedi against the Order will not work on me.  You have wasted valuable time.  I must leave immediately.”

“Of course you should,” Dooku says.  “But you do not know where to look.  The holo messages the Badoo Corba have sent are not traceable.”

“I know not to trust one who has turned their back on the Jedi Council,” Kala says as he walks away.

“Then you should also know to never turn your back on a Sith,” Dooku warns.

The Dark Lord is then approached by former Jedi Master Quinlan Vos and the misguided Asajj Ventress who have observed the Dark Lord's conversation.

“You should have allowed us to kill him, Master,” Ventress hisses.  “He should not be allowed to escape!”

“Shall I stop him, my Master?”  Quinlan then asks.

“No, Shundi is no use to us dead.  And do not delay him.  In time he will return on his own free will,” Dooku replies.

Left free to leave the planet, Kala Mly Shundi blasts into the atmosphere to continue his search, but with a growing doubt within him.

Meanwhile, in a secret compound on Yinchorr, Rykrof Enloe faces his final hours…

Restraining him on a torture rack, an ancient ITK droid continues to inject Rykrof with small doses of painful toxins, slowly breaking his will to live.

The illegal execution droid knows no remorse; no pity.  Where most would have already succumbed to death, Rykrof is strong.  But he knows he can not hold out forever.  Soon his body will heed to the relentless torture he has faced.

After hours of excruciating torture, the rack holding Rykrof suddenly expands and he collapses to the floor.  The droid then radiates a heat beam, beginning to cause a burning ache throughout Rykrof’s body.

As Rykrof struggles to shake a dizzy, nauseous sensation caused by the injections, he notices an electrical beam beginning to emit from one of the droid’s appendages.  Sensing his ability to fight back diminishing, he tries to get to his feet to fend off the droid.

As he exerts his energy to get off the ground, a laser blast suddenly strikes the side of the droid’s support column.

A fiery explosion erupts from the internal processor of the droid as the ITK takes a second hit.

Rykrof then breaths a sigh of relief as he looks towards the chamber door.

To his surprise, he sees Judiss standing where the droid had towered over him just moments earlier.

Dazed and confused, Rykrof instinctively retreats back.

“There is little time, once Mubaas discovers what has happened there will be no escape!” Judiss cries.  “Come with me human, we have to get out of here!”

Unable to determine whether or not he should trust Judiss, Rykrof dumbly stumbles after him.  The Aqualish  then warns Rykrof to keep quite.  “It only takes one guard to sound the alarm...  and if you are seen outside the chamber we will be shot on sight.”

“Why are you doing this?” Rykrof asks.

“I said to keep quiet!” Judiss says, shushing Rykrof before blasting an unsuspecting Badoo Corba operative through the chest.

“I think that woke me up,” Rykrof says as he picks up the staff the guard had carried.  “Good shot you have there.”

“Are you capable of handling a weapon?” Judiss inquires.

“Gonna have to be,” Rykrof says, trying to clear his head.  “What’s your plan on getting us out of here?”

“I have an ATL Interceptor ready for takeoff at the east platform.  It is not far and should not be guarded,” Judiss replies.

As the two round a corner, Rykrof is the first to spot a hooded executioner and impales him, killing the terrorist immediately.

“You are stronger than I thought human, now let’s continue forward, there is no time to spare!” Judiss shouts.

As the two approach the east platform, another guard falls under fire of Judiss.

Rykrof then arms himself with the blaster the fallen guard had carried.

Judiss then motions forward, “We have made it.  The platform is secure, let's go!”

To his surprise, Rykrof aims his blaster at the chest of Judiss.

“What are you doing?  We are free to escape!” Judiss exclaims.

“No,” Rykrof says, seizing his opportunity.  “You will take me to Mubaas.”

“Don’t be a fool, I only want to help you!  There are too many of them, we must escape now while we have the chance!” Judiss begs.

“If you want to help me, then you help me kill him,” Rykrof threatens.

As Rykrof and Judiss stare each other down, a blast suddenly strikes Judiss in the chest.

Instinctively, Rykrof fires in the direction the blast originated…

…and takes out the shooter.

Immediately Rykrof checks on the status of Judiss, only to find the Aqualish dead.  He then realizes to try and confront Mubaas alone would be suicide.

Caught up in shock, Rykrof stumbles over to the ship Judiss had secured.

As the ship rises, Rykrof notices a turbo laser battery above his position…

…and narrowly escapes the compound.

Moments later, Mubaas learns of the escape and arrives at the platform.

“It was Judiss,” Troffar says.  “Judiss the traitor.”

“So it is!” Mubaas roars.  “I have been betrayed by my own people!  I want the head of this traitor on my desk!”

As the leaders discuss the escape, the Whipid Gomor brings Mubaas the head of Judiss.

“The fool,” Mubaas says.  “He shall be an example to all of what happens to those who betray the Badoo Corba!”

“With all due respect,” Troffar interrupts, “Enloe now knows the location of this base.  It will not be long before he returns with an army.”

“Yes, the Republic is relentless,” he agrees.

“We must evacuate this complex quickly.  This time the Republic has won but soon we will strike at the very heart of the Senate.”

“And my sworn enemy’s luck can not last forever.”

Photonovels and Movies / RE#19 - TRIBULATION
« on: February 3, 2006, 12:39 AM »

Following clearance to enter the recently lost Kobridor System, Jedi Master Kala Mly Shundi prepares to land on the war torn planet.

Once landing, Kala is met by two battle droids.  “This way Jedi,” one says in a cold mechanical voice.

The Jedi Master is then promptly escorted to meet with the Dark Lord.

"Ah, Master Shundi.  It has been far too long.  It is my pleasure to have you as my guest," Count Dooku says with a dark smile.

"I am not here as your guest, Count," Kala replies.  "Nor as your enemy.  I wish to find the Republic officer who was captured on this planet prior to our evacuation.  I believe this planet may hold a clue to his whereabouts."

"The warehouse the Badoo Corba held may hold clues to where they have taken Rykrof.  I did not have time to investigate the location before your forces returned," Shundi says.  "I do not have time to argue …allow my investigation or I will leave."

"I sense you are here for more than knowledge of your friend’s whereabouts.  Regardless, the area you seek was destroyed," Dooku says with a frown.  "You will find nothing there.  But there are other ways to find the one you seek..."

"Other ways?" Shundi asks.

"Gain a greater knowledge of the Force and you will see things the Jedi Council has kept from you …ways to save your friend,” Dooku says seductively as he motions towards former Jedi Master Quinlan Vos and the misguided Asajj Ventress.

“Knowledge only I can teach…”

Meanwhile in a dark chamber in the Yinchorr system, Rykrof Enloe struggles to survive through the horrors of a Badoo Corba prison cell.

“Your Republic is weak,” Zeedo Chissis growls.  “Fuuda’s demands will be met or your blood will be on your chancellor’s hands!”

“Yes,” a Nikto guard laughs as he looks up to see a figure enter the chamber.  “Yes, you will die soon, Republic fool.”

“Do not damage the prisoner beyond recognition,” Judiss says as he approaches the group.  “Mubaas has scheduled a final warning to the Republic.  We need to show them proof he is alive.”

“What does it matter?” Zeedo argues with a snarl.  “They have ignored the demands for weeks.  Let us finish him now.”

“You have your orders,” Judiss says firmly.  “Now, leave us.”

Once alone, Judiss looks down upon the broken prisoner.  To his surprise, the captured officer stares him defiantly in the eye.

"They'll never give into your demands," Rykrof says sharply.  “Give it up.  You’ve lost.”

“You speak bravely for one that is about to die.  A false sense of confidence,” Judiss says.

“My life doesn’t matter.  I know my family is alive, and the Republic won’t give in to your leader,” Rykrof says.   “Maybe someday you’ll realize what they stand for and the mistakes you’ve made.”

“The only mistake I made was in believing the lies of the Republic!” Judiss roars.  “Your army did not defend Lippros and failed to come to the aid of millions during the Nebron Famine, even after the promises of the Senate!  How can I support a government that fails to protect its people?”

“All governments face challenges,” Rykrof says.  “During troubled times we work together; not turn our backs on our troops or the people.    It takes hard work, especially during war.  People are naturally divided.  But the choices we make during these times define who we are.”

Speechless, the Aqualish terrorist stares at Rykrof before regaining his composure.  “Mubaas is waiting for you,” he says quietly.

Rykrof is then escorted to an adjacent chamber by a hooded executioner he has become all too familiar with seeing during his stay in the complex.  As he stares down the dark figure, the leader of the Badoo Corba enters the room.

Within seconds Rykrof realizes his image is being recorded via holocam as the terrible Mubaas Fuuda begins announcing a final threat to the leaders of the Republic.

Throughout the galaxy, the dark message appears across all major Republic newscasts.

“Leaders and citizens of the galaxy, I come to you one last time.  I have as my captive Commander Rykrof Enloe of the Grand Army of the Republic!”

As the broadcast reaches millions of viewers, Admiral Tylin Gere observes the message with a group of military leaders.  “He is lost,” Jedi Master Mace Windu laments.  “We can not give in to any terrorist demands.  These demands will not only hurt our cause, but also strengthen the war effort of the Separatists.”

After several minutes of threats and anti-Republic propaganda, Mubaas Fuuda concludes his message.

“The Badoo Corba will not allow the Republic to legislate outside its jurisdiction or bring this war to non-Core systems!  If all Republic forces are not withdrawn from the Outer Rim within 24 hours, Commander Enloe will die!”

The broadcast also reaches the eyes of Alyssa Enloe, bride of the captured officer.  Supported by Rykrof’s closest friends, the realization finally sinks in that her husband and their friend is forever lost.

"He'll die the way he always wanted to... serving the Republic.  Trying to keep his family safe," Alyssa cries.

“Funeral arrangements,” Freelo says thoughtfully.  “I can help Rykrof one last time with his funeral arrangements!”

After the final announcement, Mubaas attempts to torment Rykrof further through both physical and psychological torture.

“Soon you will die,” he warns.  “It will give me great pleasure when the Republic fails to respond.  I shall relish in taking your life myself!  Soon after I will find your son and destroy him, just as I should have done with your dear wife!”

“But I did not finish her while she was in my captivity.  I am allowing her a short time with your son before their imminent death.  Am I not merciful?” he laughs.

After making more horrific threats, Mubaas departs the chamber, ordering Judiss to begin the termination process.

Judiss then waits until the two are alone before speaking to Rykrof.

“The process will be painful,” Judiss says.  “The ITK droid has been programmed to do everything but interrogate you…”

“Why do you not respond to me, human?” he asks.  “This is your last chance to speak… the droid will weaken you.  Then Mubaas will complete the execution… if you have any last message you want your family to receive, tell me now and I will see that your wife hears it.  We have our differences but I once had a family too… I will do this for you.  I give you my word.”

After a minute of silence, Judiss turns his back.  “Very well Rykrof.  May your pain end soon.”

“Tell her… I’m sorry,” Rykrof finally says.  “I’m sorry she has to go it alone.  To raise Caldin the best she can… That I love her.  And that I’m so sorry.”

“I see… I will send the message to Naboo.  She will receive it,” Judiss replies.  “She will know you were strong in the face of death, that your final thoughts were of your family.”

Slowly an ancient ITK droid then enters the chamber.

“Be strong human,” Judiss says as he exits the chamber.

Saga Collection '06 / The Gimmick that WOULD have worked...
« on: January 31, 2006, 11:43 AM »
I know, some of you are going to say "No Way!" but hear me out... look at all the gimmicks Hasbro has out right now...

- Attacktix
- Choppers
- Transformers
- Force Battlers
- Galactic Heroes
- Unleashed Minis

Of those, what really sells?  Maybe the Galactic Heroes do to some degree and the Unleashed haven't done too bad.

But those other lines are just... bad.

For the last two years, I have brought up a topic on two separate occasions, and now I'll push for it again.  I've been ridiculed for it, but so be it.  I think it's a good idea... Unleashed 3-3/4" scale 3-pks with a nice base stand.  I think that people who automatically kick and scream "No!" have a lack of vision.

What would this entail?  Great sculpts of memorable moments in Star Wars, and maybe a few "extreme" poses like we got in the original Unleashed line.  Priced at $15.00 each... you get three very detailed figures in action poses with a nice display stand for them.  Not bases attached to their feet, but a base they can stand on.

This idea was brought up again at GH this week in the Q&A session -

I'm a collector of the 3 3/4" figures & would buy an occasional Unleashed figure. My question is this: Instead of making ridiculously TINY Unleashed "Battle Packs", why not make some Unleashed figures in the 3 3/4" scale? Imagine the Clone Trooper Battle packs or the Wookie Warriors in 3 3/4" scale! I'd but 'em ALL I tell ya!! Who cares if there isn't any articulation. I imagine that without articulation, it would keep production costs down. I'm not suggesting that they replace the regular action figures... Just try 1 or 2 Unleashed 3 3/4" waves & see how they fare. Do you agree?

The 3 3/4" figure is a main portion of Hasbro's bread & butter. I can't believe that this hasn't crossed their mind. Or has it?
--Rich

Funny you should ask-- I brought this up in 2003 when I was at Hasbro HQ for the first look at Clone Wars and other items at their media event. Both Hasbro and the collectors within earshot hated the idea, but I think it'd be a sound one-- an "extreme" pose 3 3/4-inch figure (or two) for about $10 with a really nice base? I'd be for that.

Hopefully new Hasbro team members will get wind of it and consider it, but I think it's something they're considering-- although the one answer I'd expect to hear back is that similar scale means confused customers, and that can sometimes be a problem.

So, at least I know I'm not the only one out there who wants to see something like this at least tried out... ever see those new Kashyyyk troop pack that is now out in the mini line?  Anyone honestly say they picked that up, and didn't think to themself, "Wow if this were in the 3-3/4" scale I would have bought it?"

Now, don't get me wrong, I love the 3-3/4" line as being super articulated.  But since they love to dabble with the lines, I don't see why they couldn't give this a shot as a side line to the basic figures... it could be any army builder's dream!

Saga Collection '06 / Starving for SAGA
« on: January 26, 2006, 02:30 PM »
Is it just my area, or does it seem like figures just aren't showing up?  Seems like all the different lines are pegwarming, except the regular figures... they just seem way underproduced/shipped at this point.

Anyone else feel this way?  I'm afraid Hasbro might be underestimating the popularity of SW right now and invested too much in the non-3-3/4" lines.  The demand is high.  The Carkoon wave has sold much better than I thought it would, and when a Hoth figure hits, it's gone almost immediately, even at these higher prices.  When the Coruscant wave hits, I think those are going to be very hard to find due to the high popularity and demand for more ROTS stuff...

Wow.  I'm just amazed to not see more product.  They would have been much better off I think to have started off with 3-4 waves all at once come out, and have some selection available in the stores rather than to launch the new line with a wave here and a wave there... and constantly seeing empty pegs.  Does that not take away from the effect of Star Wars collecting?

Hmmm.... I know it's still only January, but I think this first month has been a letdown.  Not in quality, but in availability.

 :P

Every once in a while, I start wanting to make a figure, but can't find the parts I am happy with... so I thought that maybe when someone has a figure they are working on, and are stuck on what to do, you can post a CLEAR pic of it and ask for suggestions.

First of, Headless Mon.

I'm looking for a head to put onto Ephant Mon... any ideas?  I'm thinking of a Cave Troll from the LOTR line maybe, but don't want to spend that much money to get one.

Here's what he looks like without a head right now.

And a digital image with a Cave Troll head.

Who wants to offer advice?   :)

Saga Collection '06 / EpIII Heroes & Villains Collection
« on: January 21, 2006, 10:51 PM »
Just out of curiousity, would this be a good idea for Hasbro to try again?  It seemed that in the original SAGA figures, they sold well.  So I'm wondering if it might be a decent idea to try this for the SAGA figures in 2006 around November to put some core characters back on the pegs for the kiddos in time for next Christmas.

So, here's my idea.  There would be several assortments.  I know most of us want new figures, but there are some new ones mixed in plus it gives newer and younger collectors a chance to get some of the core characters -

Prequel HOF figures Wave One -

TPM Obi Wan Kenobi x 2 (new sculpt)
TPM Darth Maul x 2 (Evolutions sculpt)
AOTC Mace Windu x 2 (new sculpt)
AOTC Arena Padme x 2 (new sculpt)
ROTS Count Dooku x 2 (Evolutions sculpt)
ROTS Clone Trooper x 2 (ROTS #41 w/ 501st paint)

Classic HOF figures Wave Two -

ANH R2D2 x 2 (VOTC sculpt)
ANH Obi Wan Kenobi x 2 (VOTC sculpt w/ articulated knees)
ESB Han Solo x 2 (new Bespin sculpt)
ESB Snowtrooper x 2 (new sculpt)
ROTJ Luke Skywalker x 2 (SAGA Jabba's Palace)
ROTJ Darth Vader x 2 (Evolutions sculpt)

Prequel HOF figures Wave Three -

TPM Battle Droid x 2 (ROTS sculpt)
TPM Qui Gon Jin x2 (new sculpt)
AOTC Jango Fett x 2 (new sculpt)
AOTC Clone Trooper x 2 (Clone Wars sculpt)
ROTS Anakin Skywalker x 2 (Evolutons sculpt)
ROTS Obi Wan Kenobi x 2 (ROTS Pilot)

Classic HOF figures Wave Four -

ANH C3PO x 2 (ROTS sculpt w/ dirty paint app)
ANH Luke Skywalker x 2 (Early bird sculpt w/ new right arm)
ESB Boba Fett x 2 (VOTC sculpt)
ESB Lando Calrissian x 2 (VOTC sculpt)
ROTJ Chewbacca x 2 (VOTC or Early Bird sculpt)
ROTJ Stormtrooper x 2 (VOTC sculpt)

This is just an idea.  Thoughts?

I know, many of us dream and drool thinking about a Sail Barge being made, an AT-TE or even a Turbo Tank.  But the big H is more likely to make rainbow Yodas than these vehicles.

So, being "realistic" what do you want to see made, that is all new; and in a realistic price point?  You could use vintage molds too where applicable.

I'd like to see the following, thought I doubt any will be made this year.

TPM - Federation MTT (could make this about the size of the Sandcrawler)

AOTC - Homing Spider Droid

ROTS - Tank Droid

ANH - Imperial Landing Craft (seen on Tatooine Special Edition)

ESB - Cloud Car

ROTJ - ?

Notice all the Separtist stuff missing from the prequel vehicles?   ;)

Photonovels and Movies / RE#18 - DARK EXCHANGE
« on: December 28, 2005, 02:52 AM »

After months of endless fighting, several Republic Assault Cruisers encircle the war torn planet, Kobridon.

With numbers on their side, the droid armies of the Separatists continue to repel the attacks of the Republic.

As the casualties mount, the clone soldiers have begun to take defensive positions in the ongoing battle.

Under the leadership of Commander Rykrof Enloe, the Republic has held ground on a number of occasions when defeat seemed inevitable.

Although the battle against the droid army has taken precedence, Rykrof is all too aware that throughout the battle zone dozens of Badoo Corba snipers patiently wait to eliminate open targets.

After a long night of repelling aerial bombardments, Ralbarr, Freelo and Kala Mly Shundi eagerly wait for a scheduled meeting with Rykrof as they discuss the grave situation they have found themselves in.

“Here he comes!” Freelo exclaims with joy.

“Where did you find that armor Freelo?  You look like a Corellian tortoise,” Rykrof laughs.

As Ralbarr laughs at Rykrof’s friendly joke, Freelo mumbles under his breath his disappointment in sitting back at the command center while his friends fight on the front line.

“There will come a time Freelo,” Rykrof says.  “But this isn’t the place for it.  I just spoke with General Ti,” he says as he beckons to Master Shundi.  “We’re making our move at 0900 hours.”

“But I want to go with you,” Freelo says.

“You and Ralbarr are staying here.  Besides, we need someone to watch over the base in case the droids counterstrike,” Rykrof counters.

“A good plan.  The Wookiee is a formidable opponent.  He should stay here with Freelo,” Master Shundi agrees.

Rykrof then meets with Jedi Master Shaak Ti prior to the scheduled assault.

“With the main force striking the heart of the droid army, it should distract our enemies for you to locate and arrest the Quarren traitor,” the Jedi says.  “If our information is correct, the Yam’rii scavenger in the eastern square may reveal the location to you that we need.”

Soon, the Republic encampment begins to deploy its troops…

And the order is given to attack.

The droid army is well prepared for an attack however as they unleash a barrage of blaster fire.

To Shaak Ti’s surprise, the droid army charges forward to meet the assault.

Meanwhile, back at the command center, Freelo expresses his discouragement to Ralbarr.

“We should be on the front line,” Freelo says.  “What good are we doing sitting back here while Rykrof is never here with us?”

Suddenly a sniper blast strikes Freelo squarely in the chest…

In a flash, Ralbarr fires a shot in the direction of the blast…

With lightning precision, the mighty Wookiee eliminates the Badoo Corba assassin.

Ralbarr then scans the area for additional attackers before checking on Freelo.

The Mon Calamari then springs up from the ground.

“I’m alive!  We’ll have to tell Rykrof about this!  Next time he’ll think twice before being critical of me!”

Meanwhile, Rykrof and Kala Mly Shundi lead a small group of clone troopers to the rubble of the eastern square.

As most mornings, the Yam’rii scavenger is found rummaging through the debris, looking for salvageable parts for resale.

Just as Master Ti foresaw, the insectoid alien is receptive to helping the cause of the Republic.

“A Quarren you seek?  Search the abandoned warehouse that is located south of the pumping station,” she says in a chirpy voice.  “It is the one with the wooden door.  I have seen... a Quarren, a Twi’lek, a young human female, and... and many others entering that location just last evening.  But be careful.  Terrorists occupy that area in far greater numbers than you have in your gathering.”

“You have our gratitude,” Kala Mly Shundi says.  “Finding this traitor will help the Republic liberate this planet from both the droid army and the insurgency.  No longer will he sell information to the Badoo Corba.”

Less than one hour later, Rykrof’s group locates the abandoned warehouse.

Once inside, the group cautiously explores a large cell.

And see the back of what appears to be their target.

“Something’s wrong,” Rykrof says.

The group slowly moves closer to the Quarren.

Suddenly a cold sweat breaks out throughout Rykrof’s body as one of his troops walks to the side of the seated alien.

Dead!

“This wound is recent,” Kala Mly Shundi observes.  “An hour ago, the traitor was alive.  His usefulness to the Badoo Corba must have run out.”

Suddenly the data monitor on the workstation chimes to life and reveals the image of a young woman lying in an alleyway.

“Sir, this looks like it's intended for us,” one of the clones says.

As he views the screen, a sickness comes over Rykrof unlike any he has ever felt.  More powerful than the culmination of every fear he has previously experienced in his life.

On the screen he sees the body of his dear wife, Alyssa.  Unconscious?  Dead?  Either way, Rykrof knows she has somehow been abducted from their home on Naboo and is now in mortal danger.

“I present a welcoming gift to you for visiting Kobridor!” an evil, familiar face laughs.  “In exchange for her life, the Badoo Corba offers to take her husband into custody.  When my men arrive to pick him up at your present location, he will be alone and unarmed.”

As Rykrof listens carefully to every word, he can barely believe what he is hearing.

“She is a several minute sprint east of this location,” the cruel voice says.  “In exactly 12 minutes my snipers will implode her beautiful skull.  You have until that time to find and rescue her.  The Jedi must accompany your clone troopers but I suggest you leave now.  Any attempts at trickery and she will be promptly terminated.”

“Rykrof, I will stay here with you,” Kala Mly Shundi says solemnly.

“No, we have no time to discuss this.  We do exactly as they say,” Rykrof replies calmly.  “Find my wife.  Get her out of here.  And promise me you’ll protect her and if my son is alive, that you will see to it that he is secure.”

Torn apart by emotion, Kala Mly Shundi and the clone troopers take one last look at Rykrof; knowing this may be the final time they see the brave commander.

“Just go,” he whispers.  “Please go.”

Minutes later, Master Shundi’s clones locate Alyssa with under a minute to spare before the designated time limit.

The young woman begins to gain her bearings thanks to a Jedi alertness technique employed by Master Shundi.

“They have her.  We must leave immediately.”

“Yes,” Troffar replies to the Aqualish watchman.  “Inform Master Fuuda our objective is complete.”

Back at the warehouse, Rykrof meets a new, yet familiar face.

“You fool!” Mubaas Fuuda hisses.  “My brother may have underestimated you, but I have captured you effortlessly!”

“Soon the Republic will meet our demands to leave the Outer Rim, or I will teach you the true meaning of pain and suffering!”

“Nothing you do to me will help you,” Rykrof says.  “You are as big of a fool as Trigg.  Your message of hate will never inspire people to follow your cause.”

“Take him away!” Muubas yells.

Minutes later, Freelo and Ralbarr observe several terrorist ships blast their way off the planet.

“They escaped!” Freelo says.  “I’m sure Rykrof will not be happy.”

Meanwhile, General Shaak Ti continues the main battle against the droid army.

And finally defeats the remnants of the mindless killing machines.

Feeling pain throughout her exhausted body, the Jedi observes the aftermath of the battle.

“Heavy losses,” she laments while favoring a blaster wound.  “But a much needed victory.  I hope the others were successful in their part.”

Soon after, the citizens begin to emerge from their shelters and grasp the task at hand in rebuilding their planet.

Few surviving clones remain to celebrate their narrow victory, but not all survivors feel victory was attained at all.

Still in shock, Alyssa Enloe explains how the Badoo Corba secretly kidnapped her.  Though she grieves for her husband, her primary concern is for her son on Naboo.

“I have to get back to Caldin,” she cries.

“Your little tubby will be ok,” Freelo says in a vain attempt to comfort her.  “I find myself focusing on what horrible things they are going to do to your husband.”

Master Shaak Ti then approaches a disheartened Jedi Master.

“I failed the commander... I went back immediately, but they had taken him,” Kala Mly Shundi cries.

“I sense fear and anger in you, Kala.  You must cleanse your soul of these dark feelings.  Regardless of what you think, you did the right thing my friend,” she softly says.  “But his destiny is out of our control.  It always has been.  His life is in the hands of the Force.”

TO BE CONTINUED IN CHAPTER 19 - REDEMPTION

I hope you guys all like this chapter, it was a fun one to work on but took longer than I thought it would to make.  Using more "real sets" again has been a lot of fun.  And thanks to Spectre for the image of the Badoo Corba ship he let me use.
