On Saturday, my family and I had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to our cat, Wolfie. He wasn't warm and fuzzy to everyone. But he and my daughter and an undeniable bond. He protected her at every turn. Even this past Monday when she was at school, he was like a sentry outside of her bedroom door. And it's because he had known her from the time that her mother was carrying her - he would rest his head on her belly, listening to her.
Sometimes he was a PITA. But he stayed by my side when life took a pretty harsh turn. And I can't begin to guess what some of my coworkers thought when he would meow during work calls while I was working from home. He was a part of our family, and we're going to miss him so very much.
