30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Twin AT-RT Battle Pack
« on: July 1, 2007, 10:16 PM »
I hope Hasbro is smart with this one and changes the body to the Baraca clone with one that has articulation over the quick-draw crap. It looks like they are including the carded version of the AT-RT driver over the non-articulate ones, so there is hope.

I might get one for the AT-RT drivers at least if they don't swap out Baraca's body.

Wasn't everybody complaining in the McQuarrie R2/3PO & Luke thread that all exclusives should be repaints and not all new sculpts??  Well this is a repaint and I'm eagerly waiting to get my mitts on it.  The Scout has always been my favorite trooper since I was a kid, so I'm looking forward to an all black one.  We'll be getting a new speederbike soon enough so I don't blame Hasbro for giving it a final hoorah....at least I hope it's a final hoorah.

They could have offered the Saga Speederbike (brown one) also known as the newer version and it still be a repaint :P. That one has the accurate handle bars and better detail. This one doesn't even work as well as the vintage one that it's molded after. I don't think anyone is asking for a brand new sculpt, just the better version Hasbro already has. Plus the Scout doesn't look all black to me as it looks to be equal parts gray as well :P.

Well at $25 and an old Speederbike mold, a big pass for me. I like the look of the Scout, but I can't see spending $25 for the Scout as the Speederbike is junk. Will Hasbro ever learn that we don't like old POTF2 molds in place of the new and better versions they already have? Come on Hasbro ::), replace you marketing team or something.

I might have picked one up if it had the new Speederbike. I guess if I want a Shadow Scout, I'll just repaint one of the Elites or Scouts that are coming.

I do agree with Chewie on the "cheap gimmick" thing though. Are the running out of ideas and colors for the clones that they have to add colors to the OT troopers? Again what is the deal? I never knew they had Scouts in different colors as the Stormtroopers or Blackhole Troopers ::). I don't get into the comics, bucause most is blown what out of context. The Empire I think would frown on this type of individualism in there troopers. Look at the 501st with the void of color in OT. That is just my opinion.

I'm wagering the pilot shall blow though, as he's non-descript in the text there, and thus I dont' think we're getting a cool Baron Fel figure just yet.

That's a pretty cynical stance on the matter.  I would think that Hasbro would repaint the Saga Gold TIE Pilot in 181st colors in this instance and pack that with this Interceptor.  I think that's one of the more underrated army builders we've gotten in the past 3-4 years.

If it were a better figure I'd agree...  It's an ok figure, but I don't really see it as "underated" at all since people liked it but it lacks a lot of the poseability (in the arms only though, it's close) of troopers...  but as army builders go it's short of greatness to me.  Needs work.  I thought it needed work in the arms department at the time of its release actually, and stand by that.  Nice sculpt though...  Given the Death Star Trooper though, it's not even in the ballpark with him.

But that aside, a TIE Pilot with a red stripe's...  "eh" at best even if he was a better figure I think, especially since the EU character these Int's are specifically related to really wasn't just a TIE Pilot with a red stripe...  It'd have been nice to get a little better figure but I also am one of the first ones to hate exclusive pack-ins too so that's a double-edged sword I guess.  It might mean Fel's on their radar though, which is nice for fans of his.

I have to agree with Jesse on the Saga TIE Pilot. He is a good figure, but the arm thing really bugs me. The right arm articulation is a joke as if you straighten the arm, it is shorter than his left. Why did they bother to articulate the arm (with that problem) is unknown to me. Other than the arms I can live with the figure. It would be cool if they redo the arms to correct the problem, but that will never happen. Most likely they will make a vintage version sometime in the future and suck more money out of everyone. He might even cost $14 or more as the way the prices on them keep raising.

I might pick one of these or not. I haven't made up my mind yet.

This whole thing reminds me of how video games work. When they first hit selves they are really high price at about $60-$70 a pop. One reason they do that is to cover development & production cost, and there are many that have to have the game right now. If you wait 6 months or more you can have the game for $20-$30. Hasbro must be taking pointers, because there are mopping up on all that have to have a big army of these right now. Don't get me wrong about this as the vintage figures are really cool, but it is hard for me to swallow the $10 for them and some are even finding them for $12 :o, that is crazy. With all the hype for these and Hasbro is making a killing. Plus once the hype moves on, they offer them in the basic line and make a killing again. I wish they would offer this type of figures in the basic line from the start as I don't fell a figure we should have been getting all along for $7 is priced at $10-$12. I'm glad the clone trooper (AOTC & ROTS versions) didn't go this way, as they were offered at the basic price with the awsome articulation.

I only got 2 as I like to keep one on card, but I couldn't even think of getting the 20+ of these at the price they are. If they hit clearance I'll get a few more, but other than that I'll wait for the basic recard version.

Other thing is that I think the Snowtrooper look a bit bulky, maybe out of place a little too with the scale. Anyone else think that too?

You guys are crazy :o. I wonder if anyone has made their goal yet?

I only picked up 2, which is the limit on over priced figures for me. And I do think the Snowtrooper is over priced. Plus if you wait until next year or so they will be basic figure going rate. Look at the VOTS Stormtrooper. The vintage card back is cool, but it is hard for me to pay an extra $3 for a card for one figure let alone 15 of them or more. Good luck to the ones that are shooting for their target number.

I'll pass on the Shadow Scout if he is on the POTF2 Speederbike. Which is very likely known Hasbro. I fell like most here about new figures being exclusives. I don't like it :'(. That Yoda is one I really want, but if it's only going to be at SD con and HTS, they can stick it >:(. I'll never order from HTS again with the crap they pulled with the McLukes. I just hope I can trade for one as I really want Yoda. The others are going to be else where on the net if that is correct which I hope, because that R2-KT is a really nice idea. My boys won't want them, but my girls will. So 3 of them at least for me. The Grievous is a cool figure too. I just hope they are not to hard to get ;).

That picture of the lancer droid is cool. It looks like the lance arm is different too. Almost like the lance is part of the arm. Or is that a brace like in the old knight days where they had a loop on the forearm to hold that lance as well as the hand? Anyway a very cool picture. I would love to see Hasbro make one of these. Plus we would get a new swoop bike to boot.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: AT-PT Pod Walker
« on: June 5, 2007, 03:21 AM »
The reason the gun mount on top looks odd as that is to scale as the rest of it is under sized. This thing should be about 3 times the size they made it. It's cool that they are making other not seen offent vehicles, but I won't be picking one up do to the size thing.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Clone Wars Information Needed?
« on: June 5, 2007, 12:45 AM »
That gives me knowledge that maybe Faie was in command of 191st Engineering Corps, because Oppp Rancisis was the General of Faie's Corps during Saleucami, before his death. Someone else said that it never stated that Faie was in command of 191st Engineering Corps, but again I have got so many conflicting information on all this. I guess that is EU. Thanks for the information.
