[Read with melodic tone]
Soooomeooooone's a shaaaaapeshifter. :-X
Why bother exposing Zam Wesell as a shapeshifter in Episode II? Clearly she never used her abilities onscreen to disguise herself as anyone else, not even to escape her Jedi pursuers. I can think of only two reasons:
A) She replaced someone prior to her demise, an act that will be revealed in a flashback.
2) George was setting up the precedent of shapeshifters in the Star Wars Universe so that a curve ball in Episode III would be easier for fans to accept.
I'm guessing (okay, HOPING) that George actually had enough foresight to plan ahead and will be exposing someone - past or present - as a shape-shifter in league with the Sith. It would play well with the whole theme of duplicity that runs rampant through the Saga. But who this time? Sifo-Dyas? Jango Fett? Qui-Gon? Padme?
Other ideas?
-
How about your man Mace?
I don't think it is Qui-Gon, he didn't seem evil, I don't think it is Jango, he was just a plot device...Sifo-Dyas it could be...perhaps Palpatine is Syfo-Dyas and actually is also a shape shifter...nah that sounds dumb
Not sure ???
-
Darth Maul. What a frickin curve ball that would be. :P

I really don't want a shape shifter in the plot. The whole idea of clones coming back and people turing into different characters sounds awful to me.
It sould all be so simple, you can still have really good plot twists and revelations without bringing clones back or people turing into new characters. Please George...no

I think Lucas was just taking a jab at his ex-wife. Especially where on the commentary he says Zam looks beautiful but she's really a monster underneath.
-
And like Marcia, she's not particularly good at her job.
-
I hope that's not the case... part of the reason Star Trek went downhill so quickly was shapeshifters in every stinkin' episode... SW does not deserve the same fate!
-
Is two episodes too much? (I thought one was.)
I'm more inclined to believe that Lucas made Zam a shapeshifter simply because he could, much like anything else in the worst of his movies. Aliens serve no real purpose but to remind the audience that this is "a galaxy far, far away," as if we'd forget it after reading it in the beginning of EVERY FRICKIN' MOVIE.
Otherwise aliens are totally arbitrary to the Star Wars Universe. They're second-class citizens; slaves, slave-owners, gangsters, and villains. They're social stereotypes that do nothing to serve the story. Even Yoda's the stereotypical homeless guy, dismissed by Luke because of his appearance. But Yoda could have just as easily been human. There's no reason for him to be an alien.
Unless Lucas explains WHY Zam's a shapeshifter in Episode III, she's just another on a long list of useless additions to an otherwise interesting story.

• We will not see any further changeling characters such as Zam Wesell. -PH ........hyperspace can be such a beautiful thing
-
"PH" also mentioned that the person who ordered the clone army was seen in Attack of the Clones. Zam fulfilled her role as Sifo-Dyas long ago. She doesn't need to be seen in Episode III, just mentioned. ;D
-
Zam was the infamous Sifo-Dyas??? Unbelievable! Well, if that's the case, it sure explains a lot though. Since she's a changling she was able to morph into that supposed Jedi who was believed to have ordered them.
WOW!!! :o
-
Oh I like that! It all makes so much sense now!
-
But then when Obi-wan turned up on Kamino they thought he was Syfo-dyas. So this either means that Zam's Syfo-dyas impression looks exactly like Obi-wan, Syfo-dyas does genuinly look like Obi-wan or that all humans look a like to Kaminoans and they mistook him.
The most obvious possibility is though that Syfo made the order over the phone and never needed to be seen at all, which kinda destroys the whole Zam is syfo theory, it was nice though... :(

The phone lines from Coruscant are notoriously staticky. Any holo-transmissions would be pretty blurry. Damned Republic infrastructure. ;)
BUT, there are other possilbilities:
- Zam also posed as Dyas to gain access to the Jedi Archives and erase the data on Kamino.
- The Kaminoans who met Kenobi never met Dyas personally, their predecessors did.
Taun We and Lama Su were simply told to expect the Jedi (they all look alike to me). Zam was supposed to appear on Kamino as Dyas but was killed. Eventually Kenobi arrived, hence the Kaminoans' "Where have YOU been" disposition.
-
Why that Zam is a low down dirty B-----!!!!
-
The Kaminonians (?) just pigured that here's a Jedi here to check on the progress of their work. no big deal i think. This is mind boggling. Who is the shape shifter?? Lord Tyrannus?? The shape shifter thought is awsome. And Darth Maul, a cloned DM, would be a great curve ball as far as twists go. Or what about Mace Windu?? To me, there's something about him.......

The actual surprise is that Jar Jar Bings will be revealed as a sith.
Remember that :
- he came out of nowhere in ep. 1;
- it was never really cleared out why he was cast out of the gungan city;
- more importantly, he is the one who proposes emergency powers for palpatine in ep. 2 and provokes the creation of the clone army contrary to the will of padme, who is strongly against it.
My guess is either he was a sith from the beginning or he was replaced by a shapechanger between ep. 1 and 2.
-
Either way, someone's smyting his ass. ;D
-
I hear that ! I never thought of Binks couse of how dumb he is....or is he ??!! hhmmmm..... Good point !
-
Bink sdoesn't have the reasoning skills to pull off stuff like this. ::)
-
*bangs head against wall*
Jar Jar is not a sith.
I can guarentee it.
An accidental pawn, yes.
Sith? No.
Kevin
-
Ya, an accidental Padawan yes. The way i figure, anything can happen. Do i see him as a Sith lord, no. He's too ..aahh, what can i say he is...uumm DUMB !
-

No, none of this padawan crap. He's just a dope to shift the blame.
-
Totaly right. Remember how Mas ?? ( Blue dude w/ horns on his head on the councill by Palpatine in the Senate) I forget his name but remember he was like to Palpatine,"If only Senator Amidala were here.." Palpatine agrees and you see Mas looking towards Jar Jar couse he is in her spot. So ya, he is definatly the fall guy for sure.
There was one point in EPI where i actually thought Jar Jar was force sensative or Padawan bound couse of his luck in the Battle of Naboo. But he is nothing more than a dumb Gungan ! We can go on w/ this but i can't understand how Lucas has this character even in these movies?? His time in EPI is way too much. II, it's not bad. The scapegoat. What will come of III ???
-
I really think Binks will be revealed as sith in ep.3. Remember what the Lucasfilm guys have been saying so far:
"Jar Jar's role is smaller than Ep II." - Rick McCallum
"Jar-Jar's role in Ep3 is not that important." - Pablo Hidalgo
Seems suspiciously affirmative to me...
-
No, just.............no.
If he turns out to be sith I'll go on a killing spree across the galaxy.
-
One one hand, if jarjar is just a dumass, it means that palpatine's rise to power and the creation of the clone army are just the result of an impredictable blunder.
On the other hand, if he is indeed a sith, it means that his presence at the senate in ep. 2 was engineered from the start with palpatine (ie : having padme go back to naboo early in ep. 2, etc.).
As ****** as it may be, I think having jarjar as the ultimate villain just makes sense. If not, why did he appear in ep. 2 at all ??
-
As a Gungun repsresentative.
I can see him being a total patsy, I can see Palpy using jedi/sith mind power to trick him or force him to give him power. I can also see that Palpy is a very good at politics and can get his way with out anyone being the wiser.
-
I'll join you in this killing spree across the galaxy ! I'll even eat bantha poodo !!
-
Then it's official, if this happens, then the purge shall begin.
-
Ohhhh yaaaa !! It's on now !! lol !!
-
I really don't think that Zam will play any further part in the series. If you ask someone who has seen the films but is not a huge star wars fan who Zam is and they'll give you a blank look.
Her name's only mentioned once and the vast amount of people who watch the films but don't religiously find out the back ground of every character will not know who she is. And as Geoge does not do flash backs I can not see how he'll make any refference to her.
Jar Jar on the other hand is well known to the pulic, tries to bring down the Jedi at every opportunity and was expelled from Gunga city for reason unknown...probably because of his secret shape shifting abilities.
It's almost certain, being a politician, that Jar Jar would be able to erase files, and order a clone army to put the Gungun's back on the political map. His your man officer! 8)
-
To that I say no.
It's unbeleivable to me that Jar Jar would have the balls to do something like that. In Episode I he was a crybaby wuss. The guy jumped at his own shadow. In Episode II he's still a goof ball and a clutz. It was popularly ussumed he was kicked out of the city because he screws up so much and takes hyperactivity to another level.
I'm still up n the air about Zam, true, she's a shapeshifter, and sh'es tight with Jango so of course she had the resources to pose as Sifo Dias. But she just doesn't seem as important enough of a character to have such a meaningfull part.
-
i agree w/ Zam. Jar Jar being a shape shifter and working the republic over from the inside, never ! he doesn't have the gall to do it or the brains ! Jar Jar was banished couse of his clumsiness and the others got sick of his dumb ass and kicked him out finally, unleashing him out for all to feel his wrath of stupidness !! Unreal fellas !!

DARTH BINKS
-
Utterly mind blowing. All this time I've thought that Mace would be taken out by anikin an I was wrong :'(.
I'm just finding out that General Grevious and Mace are gonna square off against eachother and BOTH die in the battle. Grevious having his organs sliced out, and Mace with a yellow light saber to the heart.
This duel better be good.
-
LOL, Darth Binks ! I know ! I too thought Anakin was gonna take out Windu. It all goes back to EPI w/ Mace saying he wouldn't be trained to Anakin's dirty looks. Is that what's beeing said now of Windu and Grevious ?? Sounds nuts !
-
I can't really see it happening in my mind how they'd get windu to grevious, but I'm willing to accept the thought.
Anikin and Mace just makes more sense to me. :-\
