Not official, but we all know Jayson's track record by now. ;)
Original Rumor from Yakface (https://yakfaceforums.com/main/2020/08/19/rumor-report-7-new-retro-collection-figures-coming-in-2021/#disqus_thread): "the 3.75″ Retro Collection will continue on next year as I found listings for 7 codenamed figures"
Updated Rumor from Yakface (https://yakfaceforums.com/main/2020/10/15/rumor-report-update-retro-collection-figures-from-the-mandalorian/): "a couple independent, anonymous sources have indicated that the next wave of Retro Collection figures will be from The Mandalorian"
I imagine these will get revealed during one of the Mando Mondays (unless they leak first).
So, Kenner "Retro" figures from The Mandalorian. Yea or Nay?
-
I love it. I've also loved the Retro line from the start. I can imagine these will be tough to find. I do though think this would go over better if there were more TVC Mandalorian figs.
-
Nay.
How about some more TVC for Mando, and use Retro to start making unmade OT figures in that style.
-
Nay.

What he said.
Retro figures were already hard to find, Mando retros will be impossible.
-
I am 100% in. Love the idea, it makes sense with "The Mandalorian" being the only entertainment to push currently, and opens doors to new horizons with the Retro line. Customizers have certainly proven there is a market for these, why shouldn't Hasbro do their version?
-
I would be all over these if I had jumped on the first two waves. Right now I'm on the fence. Numbers probably won't meet demand -- and I don't blame Hasbro for wanting to avoid a glut of figures that'll end up at discount chains -- so I'll probably miss out anyway. I'll be happy if they just bring on new TVC.
-
You’d think by now Hasbro, would start making a few extras... it wouLd help a lot if this line could stop being exclusive.
-
Jayson stated they are not exclusive to WM. Not sure how to read that. Exclusive to somewhere else or not exclusive at all.
-

If he found them in the Walmart computer originally and is now saying they are not Walmart exclusive, then I'd think that means he has info they will be available all over. Only he can say for sure though, I guess.
Here is the list of figures for those that haven't see it yet -
The Mandalorian
The Child
Kuiil
IG-11
Cara Dune
Greef Karga
Moff Gideon

I wonder which one is going to come with a board game that no one wants. :)

That people will buy and thus Hasbro wins again.
-
The TVC groups are railing against this since figs are being revealed for it before their TVC versions... I kinda get it but there is a lot of “nobody wants these”, and that’s just not true. They’re like this about TBS too. There is demand... hell, new retro even has me into it, to complement my loose vintage set. If it’s new retro, I’m totally into it. These sound awesome. I wonder what they’ll look like? 🤔🤔🤔
-
I can appreciate some of the nerd rage about these particular leaks. Mostly because there have only been a total of four 3.75” figures released at this time. Sure, you could pull some other Imperials as well as some droids or aliensearlier in TVC or other lines to make a Mandalorian diorama.
But this comes across as a little bit dodgy. It makes me think that Hasbro is going for the double-dip again. Release the retro version of a character first. And months down the line a better sculpted figure with modern levels of articulation gets released. And in the process you get collectors who might not have been inclined to get a retro collection Kuill to buy that figure because of FOMO.
-
Odd that there will be a retro Kuiil before a TVC version.
-
Has is just viewing them very differently... separate lines all together. Like TVC to TBS. I’d say since they can develop a wave of retro far easier than a wave of TVC, that’s a big reason you see them doing this... retro has been popular so why stop ya know? And they’re generally one big wave a year (so far, at least), so there’s that factoring in as to why they’re maybe cranking out retro before the slow, costly, spread out TVC waves.
I’m excited about these tho, while I’ve not been excited about any previous retro wave save for Tarkin and Snowspeeder Luke.
-
I see the Retro Collection occupying a space that might have previously been occupied by the 5 POA 3.75" figure line. And since that's going in "The Vault", it seems like it might open up some market share for the Retro Collection.
I have a whopping 2 retro collection figures so far - Tarkin from the game, and a Yoda. The line just didn't interest me. It was a been there, done that sort of feeling. All of the characters in the line were represented with modern versions that were far superior than the original Kenner designs.
As for this wave? The whole concept I've been going by for the Retro Collection got turned on its head. Because now we're going to get characters in the Retro Collection that have never been offered as 3.75" figures. And all of a sudden you have to wonder how long will it be until a character that's being offered in the Retro Collection will also be offered in The Vintage Collection? To me, and the way I want to get 3.75" figures, it's a little frustrating.

Should be going up for pre-order some time today - - image via YakFace Twitter (https://twitter.com/yak_face/status/1320611452584157184).

These look awesome and all... still wish we were seeing more TVC and less Retro.
I also can't believe Hasbro resisted the urge to throw troops into this wave.
-
I wonder which one is going to come with a board game that no one wants. :)
Special Edition The Mandalorian Monopoly with Retro Collection Remnant Stormtrooper (https://twitter.com/yak_face/status/1320784783224545281) would be the answer to that question. :)

Of course there had to be a board game involved!

LOL.

Do we know if Amazon will be an option yet?
-
Trying to order... everything just says Sold Out after I add to my cart...
-
Me too. Did they all sell out in one minute, or is their site messed up?
-
I went through Entertainment Earth after everything was added to my card then marked out of stock at Hasbro Pulse.
-
Pulse is working now.
-
Yep, just ordered all 7 of the main figures.
I'm not buying a $50 Monopoly for a Stormtrooper... I'll have to figure that out later if it's different than the last Stormtrooper in any way.

I think JD will get a few pennies for their servers if you use the Amazon affiliate links that Jeff provided. I tend to go that route if both are available, but in general I've not found any difference really between ordering from each. Sometimes one is a little faster than another, but it varies.
I think maybe if you're a carded collector you might have a better chance at getting a good card/box from Pulse as they always use cardboard boxes to ship your items.
My guess is that purchasing through Pulse might provide some better margins for Hasbro and lead to more Star Wars toys too.
My preferences for ordering:
1a - Amazon (with affiliate links)
1b - Pulse
2 - Target
3 - Entertainment Earth (with affiliate links)
4 - Walmart
Not sure if JD gets $ from affiliate links with Target and Walmart or not.
-

This is probably the key. HasbroPulse does a bit better job on packing. Not perfect of course, but none of the "smashed figure in a bubble mailer" type stories like you see on Amazon.
Not sure if JD gets $ from affiliate links with Target and Walmart or not.
Nope. Just Amazon and EE. Target and Walmart dropped us a long while back because we didn't have the clicks/traffic to stay in their affiliate programs. :-\
-
Honestly dunno how I feel about these. They're neat, but don't really need them in my collection.
-
So Entertainment Earth is sending the Mando figure I ordered, I'm still waiting on the Child figure I ordered through them.
I also ordered a full case to get some extras through EE and I have the rest coming through Hasbro Pulse....although they say they will be released in July!
-

I'm with you. I feel the same way about the Star Trek Next Generation retro figures that were just announced. It's like didn't we already do this? Give me modern sculpt, articulation and paint apps any day.
-
Picked a set up at WM the other day. I love them. Sign me up for more new sculpt vintage looking figs. It makes me feel like I'm adding to my vintage collection without spending a boat load of cash.
-
I happened across some of these yesterday. And like previously Retro Collection offerings, my feelings are mixed. The distressed look of the card seems like it's not hitting the mark. And only a few of the figures have really done it for me. So I picked up two that I really liked, and I was fine with leaving the others behind. I got the Mandalorian and IG-11. I'm tempted to get Kuiil, but I think the figure doesn't look good, and my real motivation for getting that figure would be to display it with the TVC figures since there isn't a TVC Kuiil. So I have to practice what I preach - PATIENCE. A TVC Kuiil will get here eventually.
-
Entertainment Earth charged me for my case of these. I placed the order on 10/26/20 and when I had checked two weeks back it said they were delayed til July, but it seems like they arrived on time after all.
-
My child retro figure should be arriving tomorrow. I ordered a case to have extras to open of everything, but I was pretty late to the game on it....it might take until July.
-

The package arrived today. Hasbro case inside an EE box. I'll leave it as is for now since I already got my openers, but if I don't find a 2nd Mando in the store this summer I will have to bust it open to repaint one in full beskar.
-
My retro case came earlier this week and REALLY quickly. I was shocked given recent experiences. EE is back baby!
This time anyway.
-
My case of these figures is on the way from EE. Someday Hasbro Pulse might ship them. ::)
-
My case from EE has arrived. It's nice to have the carded collection of these complete! I'm now waiting on my order from Hasbro Pulse so I can have one open of each with the exception of the Remnant Stormtrooper. (I'm not buying another monopoly game to get an opener.)
-
I found a Moff Gideon at Target two days ago... so that's nice. Still waiting on the rest to ship.
-
I finally got a shipping notice from Hasbro Pulse for these. ;D
-
Mine are on the way as well. I'm not sure free shipping is worth it when Hasbro Pulse ships them so much later than everyone else.
-
I’ve been canceling my Pulse preorders one at a time as I find them elsewhere… but Cara Dune I never found anywhere else, and now it’s shipped.

It's a nice looking figure, I already have one to keep carded but I'm looking forward to having an opener.
-
I finally got all 7 of these from my Pulse order. They shipped them in a huge 2' by 1' box, all completely loose with a big stack of air pocket fillers. As you can imagine, the cards did not arrive all that minty. ::)

The saga of Jayson's efforts to spoil all Hasbro's reveals continues!
From Twitter @Yak_Face (https://twitter.com/yak_face/status/1443667378634637319) - Retro Mando Wave 2 rumor:
-
I'm in!
-
Yes please
-
So these were officially revealed today, and I really like them. Don’t get me wrong, I love the TVC style of figures, and would love to see the original 96 finished (or more focus on the line in general), but things being what they are I sometimes wonder if they shouldn’t just make “retro” the main line at this scale. Simpler to make, cheaper (keep them at $9.99 max), and just churn out a wave of six 4-5 times a year. Heck, repack the big guns like Mando throughout the lines just like they did Vader, Chewie, etc back in the day. Simplify things. We have seen things succeed, or at least get a lot of love, that get back to just being “toys for all ages” like MOTU Origins, the Ghostbusters main line, etc….do the same for Star Wars.

Pass
Releasing retro collection figures of characters like the Re-armored Boba Fett before a TVC version is a reminder of the old Hasbro double dip. For years they would string collectors along by making figures of a character that were kind of inferior. Over time they would gradually improve the releases, but not before they got you to buy 3 or 4 sub-par versions of that character. Look at the Saga line from 2002 - 2004 with some core characters - the initial ones were garbage, and they slowly got better. And that seemed to be by design in order to get you to buy the next, better version of Obi-Wan Kenobi or Anakin Skywalker. Hasbro already did this with Kuiil and IG-11 in the Retro Collection - Retro came first, but then WAIT, check out these TVC versions! And now they're doing it with The Mandalorian versions of Boba Fett and Ahsoka - arguably two of the most popular characters in the franchise. I'm not biting.

No thank you. :)

Agree 100% They know very well what they are doing putting TM Boba and Ahsoka in here before they get TVC.
-
Love em. I'd buy these before or after TVC versions so I don't care what order they release them. They are getting my money twice either order.
I hope we get an OT (new sculpts) or even PT or ST wave of these soon.
-
Yeah that’s what Super 7 did with ReAction, then they lost Funko and raised the price to $14.99 before raising it again to $17.99. I get that they’re a small company but…

I hate to be so cynical about this. But Hasbro is so obviously trying to cash in by preying on collector FOMO.
-
Is there anyone here on JD who will buy this Retro Fett and Ahsoka only "just in case" they don't make TVC versions?
I buy there are plenty who will buy full wave because they need everything. So they'll be buying Bo Katan etc too
I also find it sorta funny to think Hasbro thinks what they are doing is some sort of secret. I think they often say "hey completist! We know you'll buy this!". No secret
-
I couldn't find any mention of it, so I'm assuming these are going to be available from all retailers, right?
I'm like Nick on these, I'll likely buy both versions, but honestly would just like TVC figures of everything with Retro sprinkled in here and there as a novelty and would prefer its not a core line.

I put that way more on us as collectors than Hasbro
-
I will definitely get these for the fun of them, where I usually only get the new TVC stuff to coordinate with and advertise for my business stuff. TVC does not have the magic for me any more. But these do.
I only wish they did a Dark Trooper instead of the Death Trooper or Armorer, neither of whom fit the second season theme of the wave.
-
These look cool, and I’ll pick them up. Is it wrong that I actually prefer these to the regular retro collection figures?
-
All are up for pre-order at Target and Amazon.
Target is letting you apply the $10 off a $50 purchase coupon too.
I just realized these are due for delivery in August, so basically 10 months out. I wonder if Hasbro is getting smarter about their pre-orders where they'll make enough to go around, or if this is just a reality of delayed manufacturing and shipping.
It looks like EE has these up too (Jeff can add the affiliate link).
-
I totally spaced on the preorder window. I was able to order them just now at Pulse… so I’ll be looking forward to getting them three months after everyone else.
-
Me too. Set my phone to alarm 5 min before the scheduled release time. When the ringer did go off, I was too pre-occupied with a work call and blanked on why I set the reminder. :P
I remembered a couple of hours later and also got them on HasbroPulse.
I'm digging these retro Mando figs. Hope there's more on the way from the upcoming live series.
-

Not at all. I am right there with you. Never before made Kenner style figures are so much easier to get excited about than modern resculpts aiming to faithfully replicate figures that have been available for 40 years.
I mean if that first wave had been Luke and Leia in Yavin outfits, Han and Chewie with medals, removable helmet Vader and Stormtrooper Han I would have been over the moon! As it is, they were kind of headscratchers to me.
-
It’s all meh to me. I kinda like retro but I didn’t want this much and then to divert to too obscure. I liked seeing some unmade OT stuff, some mains from these new or older things like the PT maybe… not a lot, just some. They’re seemingly ready to milk this hard though. I prefer good figures to this stuff but I liked the idea of this as a smaller line… I feel it won’t be remaining a smaller line going forward.

Yeah I'm with you. I don't inherently dislike it, but I do worry that they'll just go balls out with it, and it sucks seeing characters I really want in TVC showing up here first. If they do the Tonnika sisters here first, I'll go 1000% ape****.
-
I love the vintage style of these and would buy them all regardless of what order they came out in. I'm just happy they're going slow with the retro stuff - its hard enough to keep up with TVC and Black Series these days.
-
The new wave is up on Amazon now for anyone hoping to find faster delivery than Pulse.
-
Entertainment Earth dinged my card today...the only thing I have on preorder from them is the Mandalorian Retro wave 2 case. Hmmm....off to investigate!
Never mind, somehow I had ordered the Bo Katan case back in May and forgot about it. When I just tried to cancel, they said the case shipped this morning.
No Retros yet...
-
Target is starting to ship Mando wave 2. I got a notice for Beskar Mando due to arrive by end of week with the rest coming by end of next week.
-
I saw Retro Ahsoka and the Armorer at Target yesterday, so they are getting out there yeah.
-

Ugh, Amazon preorder still says AUGUST. >:(
-
So far I have received 2 of my Beskar Mandos and all 3 of my Bobas from Target. I have had to approve a delay on the rest of the wave. Boba just came in 2 separate boxes, the first had two and could barely hold them. The 2nd box was four times as large and in it between all the bubble wrap was another box the same size as the first with the 3rd Boba wedged in there. 🤦♂️
-
Found a full case of these today at Walmart and grabbed Bo Katan for my Rebels display.
-
I found Mando and 2 Deathtroopers on the shelves Friday at 2 different Targets.
I was able to order a Boba Fett off the Target site yesterday morning (had to come up with a $35 order to get them to do it, though.)
Today I found Ahsoka and the Armorer at a WalMart (along with another Deathtrooper that I did not buy)
To keep myself sane and not drive around endlessly searching I bit the bullet and bought a Bo Katan off an in-hand eBay listing.
Then I cancelled my EE case. Even with the eBay upcharge I spent less than the case (though with the double Deathtrooper I was technically one figure short too.) Glad that is done, I do like having these figures!
-
Found all but Boba Fett between two local Walmarts today. I’ve only opened the Mando so far, and the cloth cape is a nice upgrade from the vinyl cape on the previous figure. Now hopefully my Fett ships soon from Amazon, but they’re telling me August now.
-
I nabbed Ahsoka, Death Trooper, and Armorer at Target this week, but they all came on crushed cards. From talking with a couple different Target employees it sounds like they are not getting full cases, but rather these are coming in the repack boxes. So finding them in good condition is goin to be even harder with these split cases.
-
We had two Beskar Mandos and a Death Trooper at our Target the other day, so grabbed one of each. I’m pretty sure these didn’t come in a case and were just sent in the toy pack boxes Target gets because we only had those three and the cards were all destroyed. Honestly it is too difficult to try to get minty cards on these flimsy boxes anyways, so I guess I don’t really care. Love the new cloth goods cape on Mando, sweet figure overall.
-
Ollies has a whole endcap of retro figures from the BoBF, Obi-Wan and Mandolorian lines. $4 per.
