Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Major Derlin in Palmdale

Let's see. You've got John Ratzenberger coming to your work to do a job and you want to ambush him with signing a few pieces of plastic from a movie he was briefly in over 20 years ago.

I'm sure he'll love that, since he'll have all the time in the world to fulfill your fantasies. And won't you have a job to be doing somewhere at the company while he's there?

Why not just talk with him? You could choose to be cool and helpful to Mr. Ratzenberger instead of rabid. "Here, hold up this Creature Cantina Sucks sign... What's it mean? Uh, it's kind of an internet inside joke kind of thing... Oooh - Take a picture with me like we're friends..." Instead, ask him questions. He's had an interesting career outside of his role as Derlin.

Quote
John is the only person to voice a character in all 7 of Pixar Animation's feature films - as Hamm in Toy Story (1995), PT Flea in Bug's Life, A (1998), Hamm again in Toy Story 2 (1999), the Abominable Snowman in Monsters, Inc. (2001), School Fish in Finding Nemo (2003), the Underminer in The Incredibles (2004), and Mack in the upcoming Cars (2006).

Personally, I'd rather have you bring back a cool story about meeting John than a few signed figures and a photo of him holding up a sign.

Good luck.

I disagree.  Go with the sign idea.  When is Cliff Claven ever going to come to your work again?  Actors are attention hungry ego maniacs, he will love it.  Can't wait to see that sign.

Wow I was just at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem tonight and their was this comic doing a really drawn out bit about Dustin.  I couldn't believe it.  Nobody knew what the **** he was talking about, I swear I was the only one laughing. I didn't get his name he wasn't on long. This is his routine to the best of my recollection:

I'm glad to see dustin is getting ******* smoked in this absolutely pointless contest.  I'm kidding of course, I love dustin, he's so street and fresh, I just found his whole campaign way too obnoxious and in my ******* face for something I could not give a **** about.  Don't get me wrong, I don't mean any disrespect to him, I can appreciate he's trying really hard to win free crap and good for him, but I wish he and rs would just **** off already.

And hey, this is something that I thought was inappropriate, I really didn't appreciate him sullying the good name of R2-D2 by making him his running mate, poor R2 is just trying to enjoy his retirement with his long time companion and he get's dragged into this?

Now, whoever the **** that ******* USCWannabe is, congratulations, good for you buddy enjoy your free ****, now please go **** yourself in the hyperspace forums and leave us free board slobs alone.

Sorry for the all the negativity but I really don't like having things constanly shoved down my throat.  I would have killed for Norton to have developed a Dustin blocker, I would have bought it.  At least he didn't resort to pop up adds, that could have made it even more irritating, an area he had no problem with all on his own.

Oh I see the hook coming for me, that's my time, you've been a great audience Apollo!! Peace. ;)

The last two regular waves have been Prequel stuff, which to me is the equivilant to a Power Ranger figure.

Tru dat.

Seriously though, us poor Canadian slobs are still waiting around for those VOTC2 figs.  You lucky yankee bastards.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What do you put on your burger?
« on: May 5, 2006, 11:01 AM »
The bun is definitely important and can make or break a burger.  No wimpy wonder bread buns please.  It has to be large enough to hold every thing together and tough enough to last until the end, not wimp out and fall apart half way through eating.  Yet at the same time the bun must be soft so that it breaks down in your mouth with the rest of the burger and your not chewing bun forever.

My favourite topping is my mom's homemade dill pickles, so good.  Other sliced dills make a passable substitute most of the time when said favourite is not available.

Another favourite topping are relishes, not that fluorescent green stuff but all others made from such things as tomatoes, onions, dill pickles, hot peppers or, corn.   My girlfriend always freaks out about all the relish in the fridge but if your making burgers you got to do it right.

Everything else is pretty much welcome on my burger except maybe only the occasional tomato.

That said the main attraction, the beef patty has to be a substantial hunk of meat.  I once ate a burger that had a one pound beef patty- now that was awesome.

Well I haven't even had it week yet or even put my entire cd collection in it yet and I am just blown away by it.

It's just so small, yet so full of music.  Amazing, I can't believe how amazed I am by this stupid thing.

It has gotten me thinking about all my previous technological attempts at portable music.

The casette walkman, always needed to carry around a bunch of tapes with me or listen to the same maximum 90 minutes of music over and over.  Blank tapes were good as was copying tapes.  Sound quality was crap.

Next came the disc man.  Don't try walking with this thing, just stay perfectly still.  Again you needed to carry a bunch of discs around with you or you just listen to a very finite amount of music again and again.  I'm going to go toss my old now with a clear conscience as it is clearly an obsolete piece of crap that could be replaced for twenty bucks if I was ever so inclined to replace it.

Next came the cordless headphones.  Only good around the transmitter, with a one hundred feet you weren't going far, but it was okay for around the house.  Sound quality was quite crap.
Never really caught on, wonder why?

Now I've got something with endless variety, that is smaller than my wallet and I can access any song instantly.  It must be the year 2000.

I'd like to get these, but I already have the 2004 version.

Never stopped us  before.

Who else has in their collections:

1995 VHS THX version (one last time)
1997 VHS SE
2004 DVD remastered version

Oh well I can't wait til September anyway.

I just got an Ipod for me and my wife yesterday.  I'm currently loading it.  We went with the 30gb video version so I wouldn't have to load it all the time.  I can just load my 300 or so cd collection into it and enjoy it.
This thing is a little bit on the crazy side.  I can hook it up to a tv and play a movie on it.  It's smaller than most of the calculators I've owned.
Technology is getting crazy.

1:6 Scale Figures and Collectibles / Re: Favorite/Worst 12" Figure
« on: March 12, 2006, 02:06 PM »
Well as long as this thread has been pulled up from the dregs I may as well throw my two cents in,

While I love, love, love my POTJ IG-88, ...

I even made solid sterling silver struts to keep his legs extended.

I mean he rules and all, and is probably the best 12 incher ever put out by Hasblow, but the competition was never that fierce for best Hasbro 12 inch.

It's odd The Marmit Stormtrooper has not come up in this thread, it's been around since 1999 and I have always had to say it was the best Star Wars 12 inch.  I'm a big fan of the Marmit Stormie - I bought four.

But, after having my Marmit Stormies standing around for six years in basically exact same pose, I found the Medicom Stormies to be a breath of fresh air, even if they do look a little small and their helmets are weird.

Medicom Stormtrooper, my pick for best out of the box 12 Inch, I mean they can do this:

Medicom Vader was a disappointment with his small stature.  If he was properly scaled he would win no question.  Look at him on his own, he's awesome:

But he is too small.

Sorry Medicom Vader.  You don't win.

But he is lightyears above my pick for worst 12 inch:

I'm only picking on this lump of crap over all the other atrocities Hasbro pooped out, because this one got by me.  I had it on display loose for like a year before I put it out of sight and eventually gave it to a five year old to play to death, stupid helmet, hockey gloves and all.
