Sandtroopers.com (http://www.sandtroopers.com/sandwatch/hasbro/20120816/) get the drop on the "Wolf Pack" Ultimate Gift Set.
-
Looks like a decent set. The clean Wolffe is cool, and it's nice to see the lightsaber gauntlet packed with Plo Koon again. The crappy articulation, movie-style rifles, and lack of jetpack plugs are lame though. Since I'm still a sucker for the Clone Wars stuff, I'll probably pick this up. Hopefully the price is decent, like $20-$25.
-
This wasn't the 'Wolf Pack' I was thinking of.

-
Well, I may just be skipping the carded Phase II Commander Wolf, now. I wish the 'troops had a bigger image of it so that we might be able to discern any differences between this version and the carded release.
-
Is this another WalMart exclusive like last year's Ultimate Gift Set?
-
The troopers look to be "new" repaints, while Wolffe and Plo look like straight re-packs to me. That still makes it better than the last set.
Guessing this will hit around the holidays, probably Walmart.
So we got an extra BP and multipack for this year, that is a step up. I still want that fourth Class I ship we were promised, though that seems unlikely to happen now.
-

;D
-
Would've rather seen a Phase 2 501st set with Krell.
I take it that this is a Wal-Mart exclusive like the other Ultimate Gift set was?
-
This is a great example how Hasbro can bring out a neat set at low cost to them that collectors want. The troopers look like they have phase II helmets, and although I don't need the Plo or Wolfe, I will be happy to buy a set or maybe two just for the troopers.
-
Why not the soft goods deluxe Plo Koon.
Anyway, nice to see something new for CW. (I'll pass on unless it hits clearance, the reduced articulation was a deal breaker for me and the CW line.)
-

My thoughts exactly. There is no need for me to waste my money on the basic-carded version (which I have yet to find at retail) when I can pick this one up later this year. We're all expecting to this to hit around the holidays, right?
-
Why is a pack of four unremarkable figures now called an "Ultimate Gift Set"? What's so "Ultimate" about it? Now if it included a couple of vehicles it might live up to its name.

It's called ULTIMATE because unlike other Star Wars Hasbro they are planning to ship it to a store and you will actually be able to find and buy it. Maybe.
-
Because I will ULTIMATEly buy it at TJ Maxx.
-
No confirmation via Celebration VI, eh?
-
I read at JTA that this will be a Walmart Fall 2012 release
-
Is it a Walmart release on an online one? BBTS has this set up for preorder.
So confused....
-
As am I.
-
Maybe it's a brick and mortar exclusive for Walmart, but available through multiple online channels?
I agree, it's confusing. They can't seem to get out of their own way with this line anymore.
-
This is a straight repack of Wolffe, right?
-
If there were any differences, I'd say that that Hasbro's image looks to have a grayer look to the deco whereas the carded figure was more blue. I guess we'll only know when these actually hit retail.

Ah, I see. Thanks. I was hoping that this newer Wolffe might be getting a slight upgrade in the knee department, kind of like 2013 Rex. But this pic over at BBTS kinda makes it look like that this will not be the case:

up for preorder on HTS - $29.99

Interesting:
Available Online Only This Ultimate Gift Set has everything you need for a truly spectacular battle between the 104th Battalion “Wolf Pack” and the “intergalactic” forces of evil!
-
Maybe Walmart pulled the plug on these gift set exclusives and Hasbro is dishing them out to online retailers?
in case others haven't seen yet, the Spiderman set and the Transformer set are also on HTS and also state "online only"
-
Huh...didn't notice the online only thing. doubled up with a TF local and got free shipping.
No need for WM. joy
-
So much for getting one of these mint for my carded collection. Now I just have to hope whatever warehouse drone pulls my item from the shelf happens to select a decent one. Ugh.
They got it backwards - the last one last year that was all repacks should have been the online exclusive. This is one I would have gladly gone into the store for, even Walmart.
At least they had the sense to put it up on HTS this time, unlike the Mando Shuttle which they could have easily sold off rather than shipping them to Mexico. But then again HTS doesn't seem to know how to pack and ship things without stuff getting all dinged up in transit. Or even before transit. So there's that.
Also mean no chance to nab a bunch of these in February at sweet clearance prices.
-
Did I just pay 20$ a piece for two clone repaints and 2 chew toys for my dog???
But it still feels good to buy something new!
-
Man, Hasbro can't even get Wal-Mart to commit to an exclusive anymore. The smell of death is on this line as a whole. Sad, really, but a mess of Hasbro's own making.
-
Kind of disappointing set now that it's an online exclusive and shipping could hit you if you can't team up. :-\ Add in the Plo and $30 just seems pricey, especially considering how much cooler the K-mart 2-packs ultimately are, for the same price.
-
I'm with you guys, in that I would have much preferred to get this on the shelves at Walmart. That way, I could pick the one with the best paint apps. But this is not my world, I just live here. So, I guess I'll be ordering this set online. I only want the two clone troopers, so I will gladly sell/trade the Wolffe.

Are we that starved for new product?
So the local drug dealer starts selling draino. We are so hooked that we need to buy the draino because its new and that makes us feel good that we bought something new! I think if Hasbro put a can of dog **** on the shelf, label it Star Wars and charged $40, we would buy it because it's NEW.

Not only that, a few website people would post articles online saying how it was good for the hobby/toy line/kids. ;)
-
well, I just found out something odd. Walmart.com has the Spiderman gift set for sale online but I am not finding the other 2 sets even though I am reading that others have found them on there. I will keep looking...
here is the spiderman set: http://www.walmart.com/ip/The-Amazing-Spider-Man-Comic-Series-Ultimate-Gift-Set/21129615

this set, along with the Spiderman and Transformer sets, are now up on tru.com

Looks like my initial observation was correct. Sandtroopers has posted loose images (http://www.sandtroopers.com/sandwatch/hasbro/20121026/target4.html) of this set and Wolffe does appear to be less dirty and the armor flashes look to be grayer than its basic carded release.
-
BBTS (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=HAS22182&mode=retail&picture=in) has these in-stock for those interested. I should have mine on Thurs :)
-
HTS still shows a December release date. ::)
God, that place sucks.
-
You can pay $40 for it and get it from BBTS right now! :o
Me, I preordered this set from HTS along with other things so I was eligible for the free shipping and I got 20% off via the HOLIDAY2012 coupon.
$24 for this set full of repaints with poor articulation and waiting is a lot better than $40 + shipping + now
I can wait ;D
-
What Smash said x2.
-
Yeah, I agree with you guys, I have been planning all along to pick this up at HTS when they run one of their inevitable holiday sales offering free shipping, etc. Seeing as how this is the only Clone Wars toy I'll be buying for the rest of the year, no rush.
-
I just pre-ordered mine from HTS for about $40.
-
This is now up for order on Target.com and is listed as In Stock:
http://www.target.com/p/star-wars-104th-battalion-wolf-pack-clone-troopers-ultimate-gift-set/-/A-14123611?ref=tgt_adv_xasd0001&AFID=Performics_BFAds_0004ce65a4772bd50aec07a3040039a2&LNM=Primary%20Banner#?lnk
I went ahead and bought one...total came to $36.86 which was cheaper than BBTS or HTS. Free shipping too if you have a red card.
I kinda wanted to wait and pick one up off HTS when they run one of those holiday free shipping deals, but who knows if it will even be in stock then. For an extra $6, I didn't feel the need to wait.
-
Thanks for the tip on Target, McMetal.
It will save me a couple bucks to order from Target.com (thanks red card!), so I guess I'll be cancelling my HTS order and going with Target instead...
-
I received this today, and was overall very impressed with the item itself as well as my initial experience ordering from Target.com. Item was carefully packed, with no defects, and arrived quickly with a confirmation email to boot. Very pleased.
I actually am more excited seeing this in person than I felt previously. Plo is a snoozer but the other clones have really cool decos and even Wolffe is noticeably altered from the single carded version. Moreso than I expected.
I would definitely have picked up an extra 1-2 of these sets when they hit the inevitable in-store clearances, but I don't know if they'll ever get low enough online to justify that indulgence.
Oh, and I'm officially 100% done with this line for the year. For stuff I "need" anyway. Yay!
-
bot wolffe himself off ebay, and i'll be d@med if i ever noticed in the cartoon the he has grey armor instead of white.
funniest thing tho is that i have Wolffe standing next to the Old Repub trooper and how polar opposite they are. the humongus bucket head on scrawny body for Wolffe, and the puny melon on the defensive lineman body for Old Rep trooper
-
TOR Trooper's armor is intended to be very bulky and clumsy compared to Movie troops due to the time elapsed from TOR to AOTC/OT. I thought it was pretty slick they put some effort into making things look older, heavier, less sleek. :) Ships and everything else really are similar.
Familiarity, but obvious age.

got mine today from HTS

Nice shot!

As cheap as these things are getting, I still can't get that jazzed about buying another one to open. Which seems to me to be sort of a downside of the "online exclusive". It requires a little more conviction to actually spend that extra dough. Whereas if I saw this thing laying on a shelf at Walmart for $15, and I had the money on me, I could rationalize that much easier. The prospect of an easy return alone makes it a more attractive option, IMO.
