TRU Exclusive The Black Series Battle on Endor Battle Pack (http://yodasnews.net/BLACKSERIESENDORBOXEDYODASN.jpg) @ Yodasnews
Looks like it includes an AT-ST and 8 figures - Stormtrooper, AT-ST Driver, Imp Officer, Han, Chewie, Leia, 2x Ewoks.
-
Another dust magnet.
-
Tippet the Ewok is one of the two in this set. Tippett was packed in the TRU exclusive multipack that came out in 2012.
The other Ewok appears to have the same hood as either Romba or Graak. But the body/head looks different. - Scratch that. It looks like the second Ewok is from the TRU multi-pack, too. The grinning one is Flitchee.
-
Nothing new so money saved I guess. That's ok by me. Better than them sneaking an improved Han or Leia in there.
-
Not too bad of a set actually, and if these are ever discounted I might snag one if the price is right. The Imperial figures are all great and I'm assuming this is the "improved" AT-ST they sold at K-Mart last year, which I never got (and my 09 WM AT-ST has cracked leg joints). Only stinkers are Han and Leia really, and it's not that those are bad figures, they're just old, oddly enough. Also too bad they couldn't throw the movie accurate VOTC Chewie in there since I don't think that headsculpt has ever been rereleased.
-
At the very least I can see the paint sculpt being different on the At St. At least I hope. Would be nice to have different head sculpts on the Imperial Officer and At-St driver as well.

I feel very much the opposite regarding the head sculpts on the AT-ST Driver and Imperial Officer. I would much rather see new head sculpts on these figures if they were being offered as carded basic figures, not part of a large exclusive pack that already has numerous repacks. And let's not forget that this is probably going to retail for somewhere between $60 and $80.

Agreed on the head sculpts. Some new heads, repainted Ewoks and AT-ST, and "battle damage" deco on the stormtrooper would have made this set extremely tempting. As-is I might consider purchasing a set on deep discount just to expand my armies.
Also, did anyone else notice the incredibly weird Leia and Han portraits in the bottom corner?
-
Looked at this more because of the discussion that the Officer might be different, but I see nothing there different at all, right to the oddly painted hands... Looks the same to me... I hope. :-\

Umm, so, is this a new headsculpt (http://www.rebelscum.com/2014-SDCC/SDCC-2014-Hasbro-Star-Wars-2/image40.asp) for Han or are the paint and the camera angle deceiving me?

What is it with TRU and sucky exclusives?
Is it more them not knowing that all the stuff they are putting out has been released already, or just not caring?
-
Hasbro and TRU would both eat some blame on it, but I think it's part of them hoping for less collector appeal and more gift set/kid appeal type dealios. It's like the Attack/Defense of Hoth sets at Target... They appealed to collectors but ultimately they were intended for kids. It just worked the other way around but I doubt the Target buyer(s) who picked those was thinking very hard about us when they were picked.

What is it with TRU and sucky exclusives?
I doubt we can fault TRU too much. I doubt they know when they get pitched these ideas whether there's any new SW figures or not, or if those 2 6" figures are still warming their pegs, in those exclusives. Those in charge don't know figures like Jayson, Jeff or Jesse and others out there because they don't have one person who's a SW section expert, or Barbie, MLP, LPS, TFs, Hot Wheels, etc... They deal with thousands of different toys so if it looks good on paper, they probably sign up for it.
-
And they get some good ones too... Can't bat a thousand I suppose.
All those Rebel/Imperial Pilot sets, the Jedi Knight Arena sets, Speederbike... They have had some doozies, and then there's stuff like this. Part (all?) of that Cantina pack's selling point is packaging. It's a display in a box... Someone's mom will think her son will love it. That's the hope anyway. I think that Endor set might be along the, "Look you get a battle in a box" type dealio... Collectors are secondary.
I'm curious to see what other exclusives may leak out tomorrow. Might be something really awesome.

I wonder why the timing on so much stuff is timed to hit the shelves during Comic-con? Gonna have to wait to pick this up, but hopeful there will be a decent sale to be had by the time I'm ready.
-
So I saw this at TRU this evening. I figured it would be $59.99ish
$99.99 :o
-
Holy sticker shock! That price tag makes it very easy to skip a box full of stuff that I already own via other avenues.
-
Yeah this was the biggest look and move on I think I ever did.
-
When they clearance these out for $30 I might grab one, but $100 is beyond stupid.
-
I don't really collect much Star Wars these days but I picked up the box and laughed at it last week.
-
then you put the box down and walked out of the store?
-
Then he bought three of them, he was laughing from pure joy.

Saw the Battle of Endor set at $99 at TRU. What an insulting joke that is! I don't see how this is worth the price. The presentation sucks. The figures are just lined up in no action display and the ATST has half its parts missing. They should have included the bunker at that price. Between Hasbro's and ebay's prices this hobby has hit rock bottom. Hasbro isn't even trying on this one.

I don't know if I would solely blame Hasbro for the price. TRU is pretty good at marking things up unnecessarily high on their own.
I know 95% of us wouldn't really be interested at any price, but its hard to see your average soccer mom springing for this unless it gets down towards $65 or lower.

Hasn't pretty much every one of TRU's "BIG" ($100+) exclusives ended up in their Holiday ads for big savings?
When I see sets like this priced at $100 at TRU, I assume it's so they can put it in the early holiday shopping ads for "WOW - 30% OFF!" type deals.
-
I remember TRU raised the price of the BMF so they could lower it back to the original price for their ad.

Even at 50% it would be overpriced.

Yep, I bet that's what will end up happening. The bastards.
-
Getting a better look, even I'm thinking of leaving it sit. They'd have me if the paint job on the At-St was different, but it seems to be exactly the same as the K-Mart release.
-
I will totally buy this if it gets down to $30-40.
I like these big battle packs, but I don't get the pricing at all. You get 8 figures and a ship. The 8 figures are straight repacks, so I'd line them up with Legends at $6 each. The AT-ST is a repack too, but put that in the $30 ship assortment and all total I'd expect to pay $80ish for these items new, packaged by themselves. Now last I looked, "bonus packs" and "multipacks" of every other product in the store cost a lot less than buying the items individually. When I buy a 12 pack of soda, I don't expect to pay the same price as buying an individual can. The manufacturer saves on individual packaging and locking in a multi-unit purchase.
Case in point, maybe a can of soda is $.50 by itself versus $.25 in a pack ($3 for a 12pk). Shouldn't I expect to pay about 50% less in my bonus packs for Star Wars? That puts this thing right around $40, which is right in the range I'm willing to pay. Even if you upped the individual figure price to $10 each, you're looking at $110 individual pricing, so still only $55ish for the bonus pack. That's a far cry from $99 or even the eventual $70 at 30% off. Ridiculous.
-
I'd be okay with a price range of $50 - $60. The AT-ST really drives up the price of this set since it makes the box that much bigger. But as it stands? I'm not touching this set. Not at $100.

This set is currently on sale on TRU.com for $79.99
