Title: Toy Fair 2019 - 6" Line
Post by: Jeff on February 13, 2019, 03:20 PM
Toy Fair begins this weekend - anyone hoping/expecting any particular surprises?

Tonika sisters!  This has to be the year.

I’d love a Luggabeast but that is probably as likely as the Tonika sisters.

Cantina or jabba aliens would be sweet too.

I'd love to see some kind of announcement about the license changing hands, but that is probably too much to hope for.  :P  :D

Would be cool to see the rumored 6" Zeb, some new vehicles for Resistance, and some kind of update on possible Clone Wars toys for the new micro-series.

The Black Series is where I'm expecting some of the more significant reveals tomorrow.  There are some rumors out there and I'm wondering which of those will get confirmed.

As for some hopes?  I really liked the 40AC subline, and I would like it if Hasbro could offer up more figures in that format.  Hasbro managed to produce all of the classic Kenner 12-back characters in the 6" Black Series.  How about finishing the 20-back characters, too?  And if it's the 20-back card with the Boba Fett offer, call it 21.  Hasbro has already made 16 of those characters in the Black Series, and 14 of those were offered on the 40AC style cardback.  It might be cool to offer the remaining 7 on those same cards, and yes that even includes Greedo!  So I'm hoping that Hasbro will take on the rest of the original Cantina aliens like Momaw Nadon (Hammerhead), Zutton (Snaggletooth) and Ponda Baba (Walrusman) as well as the Death Star Droid and Power Droid.

As for other stuff?  I'd like to be surprised, so let's wait and see.

Yes, I saw that Hasbro is hosting a fan choice for an ESB 6" figure to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ESB in 2020.

Yes, JediDefender will be a voting site participant, but I am embargo'd to say anything beyond that.  Look for more next week!    :-X

A Fan's Choice Poll specific to TESB?  Knowing this site?  I cannot possibly imagine who might be in the running </end sarcasm>

The choices are definitely going to be narrow.  The bounty hunters are all done.  They've knocked off a couple of the Imperial Officers.  And most of the main characters have been touched upon.  The ones that come to mind?

-Hoth Rebel Trooper
-General Rieekan
-Admiral Ozzel
-2-1B
-FX-7
-Luke Skywalker (Snowspeeder pilot)
-Wedge Antilles (Snowspeeder pilot)
-Luke Skywalker (Dagobah training)
-Darth Vader (Dark Side cave apparition)
-Lobot
-Leia (Bespin gown)
-Willrow Hood
-Cloud Car Pilot
-Bespin Guard
-C-3PO (blasted w/ cargo net)

Yes, but if these are going to be on vintage cards like ANH ones then the previously released ESB figures are eligible.

That being said, I like your list, Nick.

I'll take Lobot, or the Cloud Car Pilot for sure.

Feel free to use this thread to discuss the ESB fan poll voting or link to other sites hosting a poll or whatever (since there wasnt much else to talk about for Black Series 6" stuff at toy fair). ;)

I'm kind of glad to see such a limited window for voting.  It gives people less time to game the poll and this time around we might get  some more legitimate results.

These are some of the other participating sites that have already launched or have announced their polls:

Can someone briefly describe to me the differences between "X-Wing Luke" and "Snowspeeder Luke"?  To each their own, but I'm having a hard time envisioning why I would buy this figure since I (probably naively) think of them as a slight variation on each other, and I already own the X-Wing Luke figure.

Snowspeeder Pilot Luke has a puffy collar jacket, snow boots, different belt, different gloves, different chest box hose configuration to start.

Mainly that X-Wing Luke is in the orange jumpsuit with black boots and gloves. Snowspeeder Luke has a poofy orange jacket (you see Luke grab it in the movie when 2-1B tells him good luck) that goes over the jumpsuit, poofier pants, and tan colored moccasin shoes and gloves, and sometimes a thermal hood under the helmet. It's all really minor differences.

Thinking of the poll, a 3 pack of Bespin Guards (white, black, Asian) and a 2 pack of Ugnaughts sounds about perfect for online exclusive sets next year.

Thanks for the details guys.  As I thought, its not a difference that really makes my top 10, or top 50.

Snowspeeder Luke also has a skullcap underneath the helmet.  You can see Hobbie wearing one during the briefing scene with Leia, and you can see Luke's a little bit after his Snowspeeder crashed.  Snowspeeder Luke also has the grappling hook cannon and the mines he used to take down the AT-AT.  I was on the fence about including this version of Luke on my list since Hasbro made one in the Black Series Centerpiece line.

Meh.  I've already got a Hoth Han and Hoth Luke.  Hoth Rebel Soldier isn't much different.

I'd take a Lobot over a variant of something I've already got two of.   :P

As the different sites Top 10 lists wrap up, what is the format for consolidating and conducting a final vote?  I'm hazy on how this worked in the past.  If I recall they take the different site's lists and more or less pick and choose what to accept in to the final round of voting.

Is there just one final round with five or six options that SW.com will post?

You are probably hazy on it since they haven't really publicly commented on how they consolidate the results (which is why many people out there believe the last few polls were rigged to add extra female characters or Disney characters to the final round of votes).

For this particular poll, each site was directed to send Hasbro their top ten results by 10am ET today.  The results from all participating sites will be consolidated and then a second round of voting will take place beginning Monday, 2/25, at the new Hasbro Pulse website featuring the overall top 10 figures.  Look for more details soon.

Wait what?  Hoth soldier is a troop builder and possibly one of the greatest figure designs ever.  How can you say things like this?  That's like saying I don't need Lobot because I already have the Rancor Keeper.  Wakanda Hoth Soldier forever!

Just an FYI - when tabulating the votes, they were split across two separate types of Hoth Dude - Hoth vs Echo Base.

#2 - Hoth Rebel Soldier/Trooper = this guy:

So, just to be clear - if someone voted "Hoth Rebel Soldier" they split the votes into two buckets.  But all of the votes that went to "Luke Dagobah as long as he comes in a 2-pack with Yoda" went to Luke.  That makes sense.

No.  At that point in the poll (end of round one at fan sites), I was saying we (JediDefender) received two separate types of votes - Hoth Rebel Soldier/Trooper and Echo Base Rebel Soldier/Trooper and was pointing out that they were counted as separate figures/costumes and not grouped into one "Hoth Rebel" bucket.
