The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Recent Clone Wars Finds/Purchases
« on: August 26, 2013, 10:54 AM »
That's awesome, I never seen Clone Wars stuff for sale at yard sales around here. Nor at Goodwill, Salvation Army or any place like that. I honestly don't know what becomes of the Clone Wars toys in this area that kids outgrow.

Not exactly relevent to this line, but there were some great auctions up for Tartkovsky Clone Wars prototypes last week on eBay. I bought two of them - Dooku and Battle Damaged Anakin. I have a swell little collection of Clone Wars prototypes going now, my favorite thing since the recent line ended.

Power of the Force 2 / Re: POTF2 Recent Purchases
« on: August 26, 2013, 10:45 AM »
Got a box load of loose figures at a moving sale, mostly POTF, but some Episode 1, Saga 1 and Tartakovsky Clone Wars as well. Haven't even finished going through the box. Finally got some of the original 90's EU figures, Thrawn,  Dark Empire Luke, Mara Jade,  young Emperor and a Sentinel (had one already, MOC). They are decent, Luke and Palpatine seem less preposed than their comic pack versions (which is why I skipped the comic pack).

Is the Sentinel the figure that was supposedly modelled after Atha Prime?

If so, I still need that.

Jason Lee said it best..."that guy looks like a date rapist".

I'm out...

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Episode VII

So....35mm?

Not sure how I feel about that. I generally dig "retro" but I was kinda hoping they would go more the way of the Hobbit in 3D with the enhanced FPS. Or the super-immersive IMAX 3D experience ala Pacific Rim.

I wasn't really missing seeing all those random hairs, pops and other defects marring the image on the screen, y'know?

That's a firefighter droid if I'm not mistaken?  Or from the early Malevolence episodes where they were ripping escape pods open?

Close, not the Firefighter Droid though, it is actually the "Rocket Battle Droid". I'd totally forgotten about that guy.

My total actually came to $10.55 with the combined shipping, so better than expected.

I snagged a bunch of loose TCW figures off eBay last night for kicks, I was not buying doubles early on to open so I wanted a few for display purposes. I got the 2 Jawas, Kit Fisto w/Jetpack, Space Suit Obi-Wan, and that weird battle droid with the black highlights and BFG, all for about $15 shipped.

I guess some folks are starting to dump their collections because prices have come down a lot and there is a good selection out there.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Everything eBay! Scams, questions, etc...

Oh man, that is painful...what a weakener. I DREAD any buyers like that winning one of my auctions.

I think you are clearly in the right here, but I also know how ridiculously slanted eBay is towards the buyer in most disputes.

I could see them possibly refunding him but not taking the money away from you either. I believe I have heard of them eating it like that in the past. One can hope anyway.

I hope it works out! You need a hilarious moron-proof disclaimer in the future auctions. ("THIS IS FOR ONE (1) SHOE! UNO! NOT a pair. Please contact me if you need help understanding how many 1 is. Spoiler alert: It's less than 2.")

Awesome! I love this thing, snuck him in the house late last night and will surprise my daughters with it this evening.

They gotta do a Boba Fett now!

Other Collectibles / 31" Darth Vader

Man, I had no idea where to post about this, it's such a bizarre yet awesome item, but doesn;t really fit into a defined category.

But I finally saw the new JAKKS Pacific 31" Vader figure tonight at Walmart of all places, and damn that thing is impressive in person. I spent a long time on that aisle trying to figure out how I was going to be able to walk out without buying that, and after mentally rationalizing the price ("Hey, it's less than a dollar an inch!") and figuring out the biggest hurdle, where I would put it, I finally caved. For $29.97 it was just too hard to pass up. Seven points of articulation...

I heard a few snickers from people in the checkout line, but f em, this thing is crazy badass. Check it out!

The Black Series 3.75" / Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 1
« on: August 20, 2013, 09:16 PM »
Saw these for the first time today at Walmart over lunch...all but Luke anyway. The cardbacks seemed ok, figures looked alright but nothing in this wave I care about.

For some reason the remaining Clone Wars figures at my local Walmart went from $5 on clearance to $7 since I got back from vacation. Weird.

Would still like to pick up a few generic clones, but not at that price.

It's hard for me to see how eBay could side with the buyer if they do end up opening a case. The item description was clear and obvious, you had pictures, and it clearly stated "No refunds".

"I do not want this item don't like" is not likely to be considered a compelling reason to rule in his favor.

He can't really complain that the item is "signifcantly not as described" either which is the usual ploy. They will be able to review the communication history and determine this was just buyer remorse.

The only wrinkle would be if he does send it back to you. Not sure if/how that impact the ruling. They might actually ask you to re-ship it, but I don't see how they could force you.

Always room for a screen-accurate RFT with that glaring holster error addressed too.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series - 2013 Wave 1
« on: August 19, 2013, 05:29 PM »
I picked up R2 to complete my Wave 1 purchases. I had the luxury of picking between 2 on the shelves at Target so I was able to score the lesser of two paint-app evils.  :D

I think part of the appeal to me with this line is it's an easy on-boarding process. (SDCC exclusives aside) It's a manageable # of figures per year and you're not already 20 years behind the curve trying to catch up.

Man, I would kill to see them release something like this in the 3 & 3/4" line.
