You know how it is with eBay: every once in a while some item goes for a lot, and it leaves me scratching my head, thinking "was this figure really hard to find?"
Like Maul here: $26.00 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-Saga-Darth-Maul-Figure-Hasbro-New-Jedi-TPM_W0QQitemZ6009227852QQcategoryZ50260QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
So - was this hard to find?
-
I don't recall it being htf ??? I know I had at least one, maybe two. Huh, go figure.
-
Nowhere NEAR hard to find. Clearanced at KB in droves. I bought one simply for the metal hilt to give to my (hoped for at the time) ultimate Maul figure... Now that I have that figure pretty much with the Evolutions one, youc an guess what he's getting in his stocking for X-Mas! :)
Yes little maully, your own special little metal lightsaber. Awwwwwww, yeah I love you too buddy....
God it's late and I'm getting weird. Goodnight.
-
Now that's weird. ???
Must be a fluke, or a DVD-release-craziness-driven auction.
-
It's a movie year and weirder things have happened this year. Way over priced. I could sell the guy one of my extra's carded for like $15 with shipping and be happy (joke).
-
Wierd, I only saw Maul once around here, and that was at Kohls. ???
-
I got a Shu Mai from the Screen Scene set for a buck off ebay the other day. I actually got most of those Screen Scene figs for two bucks or less the same way.
-
Nice. I paid $15 for that set during a sale, and it was one of those purchases where I'm like "why?"
But that was back in those days where I bought damn near everything.

i picked up that exact darth maul on ebay about a week ago for $5.00. sometimes i think people just don't bother to look for a better deal, or they just want the figure right this minute, a sort of passing fancy, i do get that way somtimes! ;D but either way that was far to much for that figure!
-
It was probably somebody just not knowing how to watch auctions on ebay. I mean, wait until the last 5 minutes and if the figure is in a price range you'll pay, then go for it. Chances are you'll get it and get it at a price you want and are happy with, and that saves you money.

What I think is crazy is how a couple of bidders will compete against each other and the winner ends up paying way too much.
There was recently an auction for a loose Dexter Jettster that went for almost $30.00 because two guys kept bidding on it.
It was like the figure didn't matter anymore, just beating the other guy.
