On the otheR Site, someone has posted a pic, with a receipt showing they bought the Clone set at TRU for $40 in Indianapolis. Anyone see these? I think that's the price they were thru Previews, right?
-
CorranHorn, a buddy of mine from Chicago, also saw these at TRU stores as well... Very odd.
I'd like the Gonk from the Droid set, and a couple of the Clones from the Clone set, but I'm reluctant to blow $40 on anything right now, much less half-hearted sets that are a bit overpriced with repainted figures (for the most part) in them.
-

It was the only saving grace for that set IMO. The clones were alright, but nothing to write home about. Kinda weird that these are showing up at TRU, but maybe that'll open the door for future exclusives.

Since these versions of the Battlefront II sets are technically "new" (they are now in Legacy packaging), I'm splitting these posts off and moving them into the Legacy line section. I don't think any changes have been made to the figures, but the packaging has definitely changed if you're into that sort of thing...

Wow this came out of left field. I don't know where the TRU in my area is going to have room for them though with the 50+ Evo sets they have out and the 20+ BPs. These should see the shelf around Easter. :P
-
Yeah TRU has tons of Evo sets out but around here they're not the better sets for the most part. It's mostly Padme, Fett's without logos, repacked sets, etc. :( Pilots are still sets that go here except Reb set 1 lingers a good while since even WM has that around, and for a better price than anyone else.
-
Neat that these sets are in the stores. Glad I have everything I need from them, though.
-
I haven't seen pics of it yet, but the word is that Hasbro is also reissuing the Battlefront II droid pack, too. IMHO, Hasbro would've been much better served by just reissuing the clones. The droid pack was pretty lackluster in comparison.
-
Personally, I love the droid sets. But then again, I got my four sets at $12 ish apiece. At $40, I think I'd have passed. In any case, I'm passing on these reissues... I have all I need for each set, and they're way overpriced.

How did you get 4 sets at $12 each!?
-
I saw one of these sets (the Clone one) at our local TRU this weekend. Not something that interests me really, but good for those who were still wanting to pick one up.
-
Hmm, this is cool about the clone set.
I only have my boxed set, I still need one to open.
Now I wonder what the price of it is though. Be nice if it was under $30...
-
I think they're about $40. :(

Well at that price it's an easy pass. The idea with buying multipacks is to SAVE money. Otherwise, what's the point of picking this up? We can buy the individual figures for the same price in total. Granted these have new weapons or decos, but that does not significantly impact the cost to Hasbro for these. Since the tooling already exists, the costs are minimal to them, thereby making the sets easy, quicker, cheaper to produce. So why the high cost to consumers?
I don't need another 501st or Galactic marine. While the grey Bacara is cool, I'm not begging to have him at full price. The jetpack trooper is indeed cool, and along with the engineer clone may be the gems of the set, but they reuse most parts from previous molds. So for the full price? 5 figs at $40 is $8 per figure....no way.
This could have been an army building set. At $30 or less, it would have been priced to SELL. Instead these will trickle out, IMO. There really isn't an advantage to buying this set in store VS online.
-
Found them at TRU today and they are indeed $39.99. Easy pass.

Good thing they only put four figures in the Battle Packs nowadays. Otherwise they would have to charge us $40 for those too. :P

Uh - totally an easy pass.
When things like this come out, you have to wonder what Hasbro and the retail chains are even thinking.
For $62.99 at Target you're going to be able to get either 2 vehicles and 6 figures or 1 vehicle, 1 playset and 5 figures. Why would someone pay $22 less just for five figures when a regular vehicle costs $20 alone?

Just an FYI that there are 6 figures in the Clone set. ;)
-
That comes to the devil's number of 6.66 each! :o

Thanks for the correction.
I still think Hasbro is pushing it here - what's next, Legacy Collection repacks of the Mandalorian sets that were EE exclusives? It's not like these sets came out three years ago or something, it was just last year! They SHOULD have been putting some of these figures - like the Jetpack Clone in the Saga Legends line, so if someone wanted to grab a couple more of those they could have.

Agreed.
However I DO hope the Mando sets come to retail, but at a cheaper price. I picked up the clones (from both of those sets) in trades or for cheap on eBay, but I wouldn't mind getting the FauxEU mandos either.

I stopped at a TRU on my lunch and they didn't have these sets. I had a coupon for 15% off any 1 item, but when I did the math all the prices came out to be WalMart's prices and since nothing screamed "buy me", I gave the coupon to someone looking at a big lego kit.
I think if these sets were $30 they would sell, at $40 they'll keep the Lars Homestead sets company.

I think even at $35 they would be tempting. TRU's had lots of sales and the 15% off coupon, but $40 for an exclusive that cost less back when it was exclusive kind of makes me sick.
-
This set was great when it first came out. I can't really understand why anyone would be interested in this set again just because it features new packaging. If I already own the exact same figures, why would this set interest me in the least, regardless of the price (10% off, 15% off, 50% off, etc.)?

I'm passing as an adult collector who has access to online stuff and got what I wanted from these earlier, but I'm sure there will be some kids and even some collectors seeing this at TRU for the very first time that will want it.
It's still a ridiculous price though, and I'm not getting it.
-
but I'm sure there will be some kids and even some collectors seeing this at TRU for the very first time that will want it.
I'm sure that there are some collectors who are oblivious to online exclusives so this is a nice little overpriced treat for them.

There are also those that still don't purchase online exclusives even if they're aware of them because they don't want to give out info over the internet. Personally, I think it's really crappy for Hasbro/TRU to be offering this for more than the exclusive price.
-
On one hand, the $40 price tag seems excessive. On the other hand, people are busy buying 2x Rebel Pilot Evo packs for $40-45, so I guess it's not that crazy of a price, especially for TRU. $40 is a lot, but there have been much worse deals in the line... :-X
-
Good point Jeff, I didn't consider that... and to my surprise, tonight I swung by TRU and they had sold all but one set... wow. All the Lars Homesteads were gone too, and they keep selling out of them around these parts (I have two TRU close to my house).
Going on a road trip tomorrow, going to hit a TRU down south that I hit while out of town. They seem to have a harder time selling stuff like this. I might even find an Indiana Jones cargo truck with the plastic canopy there, which is my goal at that store.

That's a fair point. For me the big difference is that the Rebel Pilots weren't all recently available as an exclusive for less money than they cost now. You can also split up the packs if you want to buy just three. I might pay $20 for three of the BF clones if I could pick which 3 were included.
