Nice picture Scott!  Glad to see that case worked out well for you.  I'm still torn as to whether I should go with that mirrored one, or one of the non-mirrored versions.  What's your opinion on it?  Does it look too busy, or is it pretty cool to be able to see both sides of the figures?  So do you have a whole Star Wars room again in the new house?  If so, just keep your little friend away from your wife, so you don't wind up losing another one!   ;D

BTW, your Vintage beast collection at the top is...uh...a little off in spots...  ;)

I'd go with the mirrored one, I actually didn't want the mirrored one either but it is neat seeing the backs and it doesn't look that busy.

My little friend is safe and sound...thank you very much, but I have the whole basement to display.  My wife is happy none of it is in the main house, my son can be kept at bay for a little while, and if I get another one past the goalie, it stays up :)

Yeah, I was pulling out a whole bunch of beasts and didn't have time to put them back, I need a Mint Tauntaun and Wampa to round out the set...I'm happy with most of my figures.  All of the Stormies are starting to yellow except Luke (so far ) and some of my figs have some paint rubs but for the most part I'm done with them and will only upgrade 10-12 to c10 condition :)

OCB -- That collection is marvelous!  I absolutely love the way you have displayed all of your loose figures on that bookshelf.  My wife bought me (a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away) those same display risers, that you have your loose figs standing on.  I haven't utilized them yet, but when we buy a new home that has more room for my collection they'll get used.

It looks like these might be in your basement, and I have to comment on how lovely the wallpaper is in your room there.

Well, not too bad really - maybe a little 70's, but if you like that, I think you'll enjoy BigDumbWookiee's border trim wallpaper around his equally impressive collection room as well...  Check it out!   ;)

BTW, I like those risers as well, but I've been eyeing something similar, but CLEAR and much more sturdy, from Bed, Bath & Beyond.  Unfortunatley they cost quite a bit more at $10 a pop.  I'll try to snag some pictures from Gizmo's collection to show you what they look like.  The clear shelves, in combination with the clear Real Stands, look great, with no detracting from the figures whatsoever.

But I'm like you Chris, I'm in a holding pattern to unload the collection 'til we get our new house in the next couple of months!  Argh!  Growing impatient...

I'm growing impatient too, but I have about a year before we decide to move out of our townhouse.  We live in a very nice 3 bedrom townhouse, but I only have a very small office where my Star Wars items are out on display.  When we buy a house my wife has already given me the green light to have the entire basement (of the new house).  :)

Thanks fellas, yep that is my new basement complete with the vintage Wallpaper.  I was actually thinking of taping up all of the card backs I have saved to make a newer looking more SW wallpaper.

Those Extend-a-Shelves are Wal Mart specials, they aren't that cheap though either ($7-$8) a piece.  I was thinking of either painting them or putting some wood grained contact paper on them but I was too impatient to peel wallpaper or do that and I just put it all up.

All I have left to do is hang my ships from the ceiling :o

Hey, I just got an idea here.  If I had that basement of yours I would do the following things to it.

1) Paint the floor and ceiling a very dark gray color (flat paint)... yes, I even said the floor because it's just tile.

2) Paint the walls a lighter shad of gray (flat paint).

3) Then possibly paint some accents on the wall to make it more Imperial looking (like on the death star).

Well, the wifey has finally won her way and we are about to do some basement remodeling.  Nothing too major, some cheapo carpet and removing the wallpaper and repainting the walls

Soooo...everythings got to come down :-[  And so, since everything might not make it back up again I thought I had better take note of my stuff as it once was

Not sure if everyone knew or not be we up and moved a few months ago.  We both got new jobs and moved to smaller town in rural MN.  Still big (40,000 people) but no more traffic etc

So, we moved in to our new house at the end of October and I just about have everything out again that will be coming out

Packed away and not coming out:

Simpsons, MASK and LOTR and most of the Kubricks I have, SW Vehicles and some beasties

Put out are most of my 3-3/4" figures, Marvel Legends and MN Sportpicks

So, its been a long and somewhat dreary process.  This is the second time I moved my stuff and I know I have a lot less of some things than I used to.  But more of others.  Anyway on to what I've got cooking:

CLICK FOR BIGGER PICS

(http://www.jedidefender.com/spearson/collection/computerareamktosm.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/spearson/collection/computerareamkto.jpg)

The new computer/toy area I guess.  Excuse the mess, still unpacking ;)

(http://www.jedidefender.com/spearson/collection/vintagemktosm.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/spearson/collection/vintagemkto.jpg)

Vintage

(http://www.jedidefender.com/spearson/collection/kubrickmktosm.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/spearson/collection/kubrickmkto.jpg)

Kubricks

(http://www.jedidefender.com/spearson/collection/modernmktosm.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/spearson/collection/modernmkto.jpg)

Modern

Then...I sort of ran out of room out here and so I had to take up part of my workshop area for toy display.  Not ideal but I'll deal with it...bookcases and Legends are back in there

(http://www.jedidefender.com/spearson/collection/bookcasemktosm.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/spearson/collection/bookcasemkto.jpg)

(http://www.jedidefender.com/spearson/collection/marvellegendsmktosm.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/spearson/collection/marvellegendsmkto.jpg)

I'll try and get some more finished shots once I get more Johnny Lightning cases for my Kubricks and I get the junk cleared out of the workshop

How come they aren't coming out?  Too cluttered with all of them?  Too much space required?  I'd have a hard time believing you don't want your Simpsons stuff anymore, maybe the other stuff, but not the WOS stuff.

And while I'm here I'll whine about moving.  I've pretty much packed up all my stuff now too.  Our posession date for the house is supposed to be February 28th, but the agent basically admitted that won't happen.  So who knows how long all my stuff will be packed away.  Lord knows I don't have much desire in unpacking it all .

Thanks for sharing some new pics Scott, everything looks great.  I know I've mentioned it before, but I really like the cases you have for displaying your figures.  Nice and neat, and I like having them up on a wall like that.  I also like how you have the vintage/modern display mirroring each other a bit, a nice way to see how the figures have progressed over the years.  I'm always trying to think of new ways to reorganize my collection, and to avoid things looking "cluttered" as much as possible, and your collection (and some others here at JD) have always been my inspiration for ideas.  Looks great, and glad to hear you're getting all settled into the new house/town/jobs, etc.  Best of luck!

Great collection Scott! I hope to get my collection all out and displayed someday. For now most of it sits in boxes and misc areas...

I like those mirrored display cases. I just found one of those in my father-in-law's basement. It was from his old hobby shop. Now I just need to convince him to let me have it. It needs some repair and cleaning but it will be worth the work once it's up and displayed...

Continuing the updates to packing/moving/unpacking/reorganizing here's where I'm at

The lights are from Ikea, they are fairly new.  One great thing is they put out no heat at all so I never have to worry about burning down the house.  One downfall is that they aren't really that bright and they are spendy as hell.  I like them though and it makes for a nice effect

Sharp eyes may see some new little overweight blobs of grease on the shelves :-*
Title: Re: OCB's Collection
Post by: JesseVader08 on February 2, 2006, 11:51 PM
I may have to use those same lights for my loose figures.  I've tried setting up rope lighting and even small Xmas lights, but they just don't work (or don't stay in place).

Those IKEA lights works so well at giving your figures the punch to really stand out.  I like it.

And notches shouldn't be cut in joists like that, it lessens the structural integrity.  I'm assuming there was plumbing lines running there at one point, but they should have drilled a hole in the middle of the joists and not have notched it.    :P

Thanks for sharing Scott, I always enjoy your collection pictures.  I mentioned this in another thread, but that bookshelf with the maquettes looks really nice.  The rest of the collection looks great as well.  Did you pack some of your Legends away?  It seemed like there were more before, but maybe I just missed a pic or two.  Its tough to find room for all this stuff these days, especially the 6" figures.  Real nice collection though, and the display looks great.

Hey, new to JD, but I've used the guest feature for some time to ogle some of the collections.  Is the yellow R2 in the TPM a custom, or simply one I've never seen before?  Awesome collection!

Nice set-up Scott.  I'm suprised you don't have a pedastal ready for the ICMG figure.  ;)

Nice! Your Willrow collection is just......amazing! Just curious, how is the rest of the collection looking these days? Always liked the way you had things set up.

Congratulations Scott!  I don't know what those are, but the ICMG collection is looking good.

Finally redid my OT display…still not enough room to display my vehicles (Barge, BMF, AT-AT etc) but I like how it turned out!
